Sorry I haven't updated in a while. This one's all about Yuske, that idiot.
Yuske frowned into the receiver, wondering in her fuzzy head why the heck Kurama hung up on him. He was just kidding, after all. And Hiei wasn't really hurt. Was he?
He sighed, and called into the living room where his mother had lumbered into after she gave him the phone. “Mom, you awake still?”
No answer, other than a round of drunken snores. Was she really asleep? She might stay up to find out about him… Nah, she wouldn't. She wouldn't care, and even if she did, she'd forget soon enough, and she'd been drunk anyway.
“She's really asleep, you know.”
Yuske yelped and spun around to face a blue-haired young lady floating on an oar.
“Now, now,” Botan, ferrywoman of the River Styx, scolded. “She'll wake up if you keep up that noise, really.”
“Botan, you idiot, don't scare me!” Yuske snapped. “How come I didn't sense your aura, anyway?”
Botan stuck out her tongue. “Because you didn't try, silly! Anyway, Koenma and I took this potion that made invisible in every way to everyone, at least until we make ourselves visible to the person or people. We didn't want to get caught by the demon that Hiei was fighting.”
“Oh,” Yuske replied, not really listening. But then he realized what she had said. “You mean Hiei was really hurt? I thought Kurama was pulling a prank or something.”
“No, he was really hurt. It seems that one of Kurama and Hiei's former rival has come to seek revenge. His name is Goouna, a large, lumbering beast. Hiei worked as an assassin as well, and so did Goouna. So when they where both hired to kill Koenma different guys, Goouna came, saw what was happening, and decided to let Hiei take care of it. Then Hiei noticed him, and got mad then cut off Goouna's left arm. Then some of the old Spirit Detectives came in and drove off Hiei.”
“Does they know who he is?”
“If they don't, they will. Koenma sent Jin over to tell him about Goouna's weak points and what he's plotting- it seems he's stolen the three artifacts that you originally went after Hiei, Kurama, and their orge friend for. More than likely he's going to use the same scheme they did- use the sword to get slaves, feed the slaves with souls from the orb, and… well, I'm not sure about the mirror. I don't think he'll risk his own like using it, though.”
“So this Goouna's mad at Hiei for chopping off his arm, and Hiei's mad at Goouna for making him mess up the assassination,” Yuske sighed. “I get it. It's like that song- `You hate you, you hate me, we're a demented family.'”
“That's not how it goes,” Botan objected.
Yuske sighed. “Whatever. Let's just find him.”
Some time later, Yuske was trotting down the street toward Kurama's house, completely ignoring Botan's warning to be stealthy.
Some time later after that, he was hiding in the bushes behind Kurama's house, waiting as a huge snake woman slid to the window.
