Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Hiei's Mirror ❯ Kurama's Dielema ( Chapter 7 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

If this one seems off-beat with the others, its cuz I've got exams this week and I'm stressed. Or people tell me I am. I AM SO NOT STRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The snakewoman slid across the grass, annoyed. No sound. Wait, what was that!? Oh, yeah. That was quiet. As in no sound. As in no prey. Prey was good. Prey was noisy. There was no noise. No noise, no prey. No prey was bad.
Except she wasn't looking for prey. She was looking for the Hiei thing. The Hiei thing was a bad thing. Only she had to find it, so if she was looking for it, and if she was looking for it, it must be good. So it wasn't prey. So if prey wasn't there, that was good. No prey.
No noise. WAIT!!! What was that!?!
…Oh, yeah.
That was quiet.
Kurama slid across the soft carpet that covered the long hall to his mother's room, praying something- anything!- would happen before he go there so he wouldn't have to do what he was going to do. Which, naturally, was wake up his mother, her husband, and the other two kids, then explain some monsters where breaking into the house, and no, he wasn't high or dreaming, then move them to Genkia's old place, then explain he was a demon S.W.A.T. team member in another dimension. Simple. Compared to quantum physics, that is. Oh, and he wasn't really his mother's real son, he was a demon who was nearly killed and inhabited an unborn child that happened to be hers so he could hide until he strong enough to return to thieving.
He slipped into the room, seeing his mother on the bed. Seeing his mother on her bed, curled comfortably in a man's arms, and looking more rested in years than she ever had since his `father' had died. He wouldn't have cared for his mother in his `father's' arms, either, since his parents where just humans who created his human form. He felt no attachment to a man he didn't know and didn't want to know, just the mother who nearly crippled her arms to save him when he was too small to return to demon form.
“Suichi?” his mother murmured, pulling herself off the bed. “What time is it? Is something wrong?”
Kurama smiled. “No, mother, everything's fine. But we have to leave. Now. There are some bad people in the house.
His mother's eyes widened. “Bad people? Have you been- been experimenting and got in with the drug dealers- and now they're here? Suichi, I thought you might be- be- you know, but our house- call the police. Call them! We can't just run from- from some drunks! The law is supposed to-“
“Mother, you don't understand! They aren't drug dealer's muscle and they are very dangerous. I haven't been experimenting and I don't do crime- well, I'm straight now,” he amended. “But we have to leave or we might all be dead by morning! Get your husb- your man and get the kids and go. Please. I'll explain everything l-“
A crash interrupted him. The snakewoman was coming! Battle cries echoed across the hall, Hiei's and Jin's. Then more noise- the snake woman must have had allies waiting. Not tarrying to explain things further, he dashed off to help his close friend and sometimes partner in crime, and the pointed-eared nut that crashed through his window.

I love cliffhangers, don't you? Yeah, that's what I thought. Please review!!! Constructive criticism is welcomed.
