Welcome to the `Family'

"You are not to call me mother, granny, auntie…You refer to me as Genkai."

"Yes ma'am…I mean Genkai."

Genkai simply rolled her eyes. You followed her as you two walk into a small plain room. There was a bed, desk with a mirror, and a lamp in the corner of your room. You sweat dropped at the look of your 1770's room.

"You can't touch anything, wander around, or stay up. You are to wake up at 8:00 am tomorrow. Eat up, take a shower get dressed. I want you to meet the others." Genkai said.

She then went into your closet and picked out some clothes. Apparently they were your `pajamas'. She handed them to you.

"You can find more clothes in the closet. I'm warning you, they aren't trendy or glamorous but you can buy new clothes once you get a job. Good night."

"Good ni-"

Before you could finish, she closed the door behind her. So much for a room…where's the t.v.? Where's the radio? Where's my computer?! `Once I get a job' yea right.

The next morning a loud gong waked you up. Startled you jerked forward and fell off your bed. Your door opened and there, fully dressed, was Genkai with an eyebrow cocked.

"Hehe…good morning." You say sweat dropped.

"Eat and get dressed. Hurry up!" Genkai demanded.

"Yes ma'am!" You replied getting up.

After eating breakfast, taking a shower, and getting dressed, you finally were ready to start the day.

"Okay, Genkai, I'm ready…"

There, cross-legged on the floor, you see Genkai meditating. You wave your hand in front of her face; still no response.

"Umm…" You stare a few more minutes.

Genkai stands up and dusts off her clothes. She looks at you up and down and nodded. She starts out the door as you follow. A taxi pulls up and you two climb in.

"Where to ma'am?" The driver asked.

"To the city and hurry, please" Genkai ordered.

"Yes ma'am."

You stare out the window watching rice fields pass by. It was a dull, misty morning, but you could smell the fresh scent of wet grass. You seem to be in deep thought not noticing that you've been fiddling with your necklace again.

"When we arrive there, don't be surprised by the fools you're about to meet." You heard a scratchy voice say to you. "They may appear as idiots, but they possess great strengths. Maybe if I train you, you'll be as strong as them, who knows."

You had no idea what she was talking about, so you just nod obediently.

A few minutes later, you finally arrived at the city. You were amazed by how big and busy it was. There were stores and restaurants everywhere. There seemed to be a shop at every corner of the city. This is the place for me. You started following Genkai to an apartment building. Genkai and you start walking up a few stairs and walking down some hallways. Finally, you arrive at apartment no. 102. Genkai knocked on the door while you straightened out your clothes and your hair. A guy with short black hair opened the door. He smiled at the sight of Genkai in a funny way.

"Genkai! You old bat! What brings you here? Come in." The teen said ignoring you. You stand motionless in your place. Genkai looks back at you.

"Come along, (y/n)."

You shyly step in. As you take off your shoes, you see a bunch of curious characters. There was a man who had orange, curly hair and was stuffing his face with chips (sorry kuwabara fans, but everone expects him to be the pig of the gang! Oops…n e wayz…). Then you spot a slim, serious figure who was watching him in disgust. Then the last person was the one whom your eyes settled most at. He had long crimson, red hair and emerald eyes. He seemed to be chuckling at the large figure that was devouring all the food. His laugh made you smile a bit. There was an odd feeling that you had of meeting him before. He caught you staring at him. Quickly you looked away slightly red in the face.

"(y/n), here is the group that I told you about. They are one of the strongest fighting groups in Japan, so don't be fooled by their behavior." Genkai said staring at Kuwabara.

"This is Yusuke, he is sort of the one in charge. "Genkai introduced.

Yusuke…

"And this is (y/n). I adopted her yesterday. I think she is the `one'." Genkai said giving a glance to Yusuke.

"Ohh, hey (y/n). Nice to meet you." Yusuke said holding out a hand for you.

You hesitated for a moment but shook his hand. Unfortunetly, your grip was tight almost making his hand white. Yusuke let go.

"Hehe, you gotta a strong grip there…Ummm, lemme introduce you to the guys." Yusuke said. HE turned around.

"Hey guys! We gotta guest here, come on."

All of them stood up and walked over to you. The one with the red hair, you kept glancing at.

"This is Hiei, Kuwabara, and Kurama." Yusuke said.

You shook hands with Hiei and Kuwabara. As you approached Kurama, you kept staring into his green eyes. You couldn't help but stare at him, and he did the same too. You felt as if you knew this Kurama for the longest time.

"…Nice to meet you." You said slowly.

"Nice to meet you too…" Kurama greeted.

He smiled…His smile seemed to warm and welcoming. You couldn't help but notice how handsome he was. You blushed a little. Kurama blushed too.

"So…we were planning to go to a kareoke bar tonight in celebration of another win at a fighting tournament. Wanna join us, (y/n)?" Yusuke cut in.

"Umm, that would be fun! Great." You said cheerfully, but then you noticed Genkai. "Ohh wait, hold on. Is it okie if I can go, Genkai?"

"Just don't try anything crazy. And don't come home late, we start training early tomorrow morning." Genkai said. You nodded. "Good bye everyone."

You turned back to the four guys infront of you.

"So…What shall we do first?" You asked curiously.

"Well…first we have to pick up a few girls. Don't worry, theyre really `fun'." Yusuke said in a sarcastic way.

Yusuke walked passed you as Hiei and Kuwabara followed. Kurama winked as he passed you too. Yet again, you blush and followed them out the door, closing it behind you. (Lets just that no one closes his or her doors in this apartment building, okie? Okie…)

"Hey, where did they say they'd meet us?" Kuwabara asked as all of you walked down a busy street.

"At the entrance of the mall I think…Come on guys." Yusuke said.

Kuwabara had a smile on his face and put his hands behind his had casually.

"Whew, good. I'm getting' hungry!" Kuwabara said.

Everyone sweat dropped.

"Didn't you just eat, Kuwabara?!" Yusuke asked.

"Uhh…But that was a long time ago!"

"Oy…" Yusuke sweat dropped some more.

"There's where we usually hang out and eat. And there's the Kareoke bar we're going to later."

You watched Kurama as he was pointing to different shops and stores. You two seemed to be a little behind from the three in front of you. You didn't pay attention to a word you were saying. That smile always seems to mesmerize you.

"(y/n)? (y/n)?"

You suddenly look away flustered. You start giggling like an idiot. (haha :D)

"Sorry…ha ha…go on, I'm listening." You said trying to get your natural skin color to your face.

Kurama just smiled again…(oooh…gotta love that sexy smile! *Cough* sorry…)

"Ooh, can you see that building? Way up there?" Kurama says pointing up.

"Where? Which one?" You asked looking around.

"That one."

"Huh?"

Kurama goes near you and puts one hand gently on your back. You're face starts turning the color of his hair. He puts his face closer to yours and points his finger to a specific spot.

"Here, it's kind of small because its on top of another building. Close one of your eyes, and you will see it." Kurama directed.

You did as you were told, and you saw the little cute building on top of some kind of video game store. It was cream yellow and had roses and vines all over it. It was odd because the building didn't have a name. Other than that, it seemed like the `cleanest' and most adorable small building in the city.

"What is it?" You asked.

"It's a restaurant. I heard that it gives the best service to its customers…because it only has one table in it." Kurama said.

"Meaning it only serves how many people are sitting in that one table?" You asked still gazing at it.

Kurama chuckled a bit. "It can only seat two people."

Kurama looked at you and smiled. You looked back and couldn't help blushing. You're cheeks must have been firing red because Kurama giggled a little. You both stood there looking into eachothers eyes…

"HEY YOU GUYS!"

You both turned around. It was Yusuke and the rest of the gang. They were like sixty feet away from you now.

"Hurry up! What are you doing back there?!" Yusuke shouted.

"Come on." Kurama said grabbing your hand.

"Huh?"

Kurama started running while you were dangling from his hand, but then you two were at the same pace. People stared as you two ran like crazy to Yusuke. As you neared him and the group, you noticed that two other girls were with them. One with bluish, greenish hair, and one with brown hair.

"Finally…Hey (y/n), I wanna introduce you to some other friends of ours. This is Boton. And This is Keiko. You guys, this is (y/n)."

"Nice to meet ya! Welcome to the gang!" Said Boton shaking your hand.

"Nice meeting you, (y/n). You're going to have lots of fun with us!" Keiko said nicely.

"So…wuddya guys wanna do first?" Yusuke said putting his hands behind his head.

"We haven't eaten lunch yet because we were wating for you guys. How about we go now?" Boton suggested. Kuwabara started to grin.

"YEAH! I'm starved!" Kuwabara said.

Everyone sweat dropped. While Kuwabara was punching the air with his fist, everyone else nodded and agreed. You all started walking and came across a Fast-food restaurant. As you all entered, Yusuke and the guys took out their money.

"Okay, what does everyone want?" Yusuke said as he collected all the money.

"Burger and fries."

"Salad."

"Cheeseburger and a shake."

"Burger and fries for me too."

"Two burgers, extra large fries, a bucket of chicken nuggets, and one giant chocolate milkshake." (I think we all know who ordered that.)

"Kuwabara, I need more money to order all that for you." Yusuke said.

"Aww, okay." Kuwabara said as he handed Yusuke some money.

"Alright, I'll be back." Yusuke said.

"He better hurry! I'm starving!"

"Calm down you fat pig. There are other people who have to eat too." Hiei remarked.

That was the first time you heard him talk ever since you met him.

"Hey! Who are you calling a fat pig?!"

"Hn. He not only eats like a pig but he has the size of a brain like one." Hiei said looking quite proud of himself.

"Why I outta…!"

"You guys stop! Let's all act like friends in front of (y/n) okie??" Boton said waving her arms in front of them. You sweat dropped.

You looked out the window fiddling with your necklace again. It started becoming a habit ever since that night the orphanage found you.

"Umm, (y/n)?"

You turned around, and found yourself facing Kurama. You turned slightly pink. He smiled, but it wasn't so broad this time.

"Yes?" You said.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked.

"Sure." You replied.

He paused for a second.

"Where did you get that necklace?"

You both started staring at it. You let it sit in your hand for a moment.

"Umm, I don't remember. But I know that someone gave it to me…someone who must have loved me."

"Ohh." Was all Kurama could say.

You sighed. "As I grew up, I always wanted to know who. Now that I seem old enough, I can try to find out who gave this necklace to me."

You smiled a little trying bring that happy feeling back between the both of you. Kurama smiled too.

"I'm sure you will." He said.
