“No! No! It can't be!” cried Fox, “Is it really true?”

“I'm sorry. But it is true,” said Akita sadly.

“Poor Mother,” stated Wolf, “She probably never saw it coming. You'd think that with us gone, the Lightning Demons would leave our family alone.”

“Actually, the Lightning Demons had a problem with your parents, not you,” corrected Akita.

“Then why did they threaten to kidnap us?” Fox asked even more confused than before.

“They knew that they could get to your parents through you girls so they, wait a minute,” questioned Akita suddenly.

“How do you know that the Lightning Demons were threatening to kidnap you girls?”

“Isn't it obvious?” questioned Wolf with attitude and irritation in her voice, “Father said he was worried for OUR safety. That's why he sent us here.”

“You're a smart girl. Anyway, as I was saying before,” Akita started.

 

“Hey! What about me?” Fox asked, hurt because Akita didn't say that she was smart, “I'm smart too! I figured out what the Lightning demons were saying in their threats.”

 

“No you didn't! I told you what they were saying,” Wolf said taking credit for her work.

 

“I figured it out before you told me!” Fox corrected almost yelling, “Baka!”

 

“I'm not a BAKA!” Wolf screamed, “Mesume!”

 

“Am not, Bitch!”

 

“Ladys! Ladys!” shouted Akita, “As I was saying before, the Lightning Demons wanted to hold you for ransom. The ransom was the king and the queen themselves. For some reason, they had something against your mother. It really is odd, I mean, what did your mother, the queen, ever do to them?”

“I don't know,” Fox said, “what about Daddy?”

 

Akita said, “He's...He's…He's missing.”

 

“Missing?!” Fox screamed sobbing, “How can he be missing? This isn't happening, it's not possible. It…It…It's not true, it can't be true. Don't let it be true. Please tell me it's fake, tell me it's just a bad dream. Somebody pinch me so I'll wake up. Ouch! I said pinch not punch!”

 

“Whoops, my mistake,” Wolf said with a smirk on her face at the same time she had her “I'm innocent” look on.

 

“ I'm truly so sorry. Really I am,” Akita said, “But it is true.”

 

Wolf just sat there with a blank stare on her mask, but Fox knew that she was crying her eyes out inside, but only for their mother, not their father. She hated her step-father (Fox's father [AKA: the king]) and doesn't give a damn what happens to him. Well, she cares a little bit. But only for Fox. She wants Fox to be happy and loves her more than anything in the world.

 

After the meeting with Akita the girls went back to their classes. Fox was upset the rest of the day but Wolf looked perfectly normal with her cold stare and smirk. thankfully Kanji and Kenji stayed far away from them.

 

When they got home they went straight to their room, did their homework and moped in silence. Fox wrote in her journal and Wolf wrote saddening poetry until Atsuko called them down for dinner. Fox went down to eat but Wolf stayed upstairs and began sketching small pictures of her mother and real father. After dinner Fox took a shower and Yusuke knocked on the girl's door. He entered when there was no answer to see Wolf on the windowsill.

 

“Wolf, Mom saved some dinner for you. Come and eat it.” He said resting his hand on her shoulder for comfort even though he didn't know why his sisters were acting this way.

 

Wolf shrugged her shoulder letting his hand slip off her shoulder and replied with a simple, “No.”

 

Yusuke tried again and again but kept getting the same results. Her shrugging him off and either saying “No.” or not answering him. Fox came in and saw the look on her face that she would kill him if he didn't stop bugging her so she escorted him out of the room, changed into her pajamas as soon as he was gone, and insisted that Wolf did the same.

Wolf put on her pajamas and slipped her black rose into her hair and dozed slowly off by the comforting sound of slow breathing telling her Fox was asleep.

 

Midnight exactly Wolf woke up and stood. She shifted to her wolf form and left the house so silently that not one thing was disturbed until she took off running into the forest next to the park. She paused in a dark patch of leaves and raised her head and let out a depressed howl. It held sorrow for her father, her mother, and last but not least, the on to need it the most, Fox.

 

The next morning both girls woke up at the same time when Atsuko called and took cold showers because of their moods. When Wolf finished dressing she slipped her rose in her hair and went to wake Yusuke up. She didn't feel like teasing him so she shook his shoulder until she was sure that he would stay awake.

 

Fox walked to school in silence while Wolf rode her black skateboard right next to her not even bothering to strike up a conversation. Kuwabaka, Kayko, and Yusuke walked behind them muttering fiercely but the girls were not paying attention. They had both agreed earlier that they would only show their true emotions at home. Fox had decided to hide it with fake happiness and Wolf had decided to hide it behind her cold mask.

 

The first three classes for the girls passed by too slowly for the girls and they were relieved when lunch came and they decided to eat underneath a cherry blossom at the edge of the school grounds hoping, no, praying that Yusuke didn't find them. To Fox's disappointment and Wolf's irritation luck was not on their side and Yusuke found them 5 minutes later.

 

What was worse was that he had brought his usual group except now they were joined by a cute red head in Fox's opinion. Forgetting the death if her mother and that her father was missing she instantly jumped up and hugged the red head who was now her new crush. Wolf sighed in irritation as Yusuke had to pry her sister off the shaken Kurama who asked, “Why are you hugging me? You don't even know me?”

With that Fox latched back on to Kurama and ignore Yusuke who was shouting, “Get Off Him Fox!” This time Yusuke had enlisted the help of Kuwabaka to help him pry her off, yet it was not effecting, Fox still had a strong grip on Kurama.

 

“Knock It Off Fox!” shouted an extremely tick off Wolf. Fox instantly let go of Kurama trying not to get on Wolf's bad side. The two boys who were startled but Fox's sudden release still held her back from Kurama, who was back to his usual self, until Wolf turned and shouted, “Let go of Fox and go bug someone else because I am in no fucking mood to mess around, Got it?” The group nodded and left Fox and Wolf get back to their mourning.

 

They were surprised to see Akita again later that day after school had let out and they girls were walking home, well Fox was, Wolf was riding her skateboard again. “ Hey Akita. Do you need something?” Fox asked noticing Akita right after Wolf did.

 

“ Yes mildays. I forget to tell you that your father was missing since after you left for Ningenkai.”

 

“What?” Wolf asked surprise finally making it's way through the mask only to be pushed back behind again.

 

“I am sorry.” Akita said with sadness in her voice.

 

“How could this happen?” Fox asked big drops of tears slithering down her cheeks.

 

“He left a week after you and never came back.”

 

“Where did he go?” Wolf requested.
