Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Mission Impossible ❯ Yusuke ( Chapter 2 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho or any of the characters thus associated with it. I own only my muses and the storyline.
Kagome: All right, people. I'm going to do the second chapter now because I'm in a generous mood.
Raven: *stage whisper* No, she's doing it because we're driving her up the wall with it!
Kagome: *throttles muse* How many times do I have to tell you?! Quit taking all the credit. I'm the one writing it, you know.
Nathaniel: *prying writer's hands off muse's throat* Okay, okay. You're quite right. After all, you're the one who decides when to post it, no matter when it's done.
Kagome: *grinning* That's right.
Raven: Did Yusuke's inu demon form remind you of anyone? From a different anime perhaps?
Kagome: *grins* Oh, yeah. His demon form is kind of like Sesshomaru in the anime Inuyasha. I guess I oughta put in that I don't any Inuyasha or any of the characters thus associated with that, huh?
Nathaniel: *nods* Might be a good idea.
Kagome: ………………………
Raven: Well? Aren't you going to say it?
Kagome: *puzzled* Say what?
Raven: That you don't own Inuyasha or any of its characters. That's what!
Kagome: I already did, and you just did too.
Raven: ?!!
Kagome: Eh, go up a few lines and you'll see it.
Raven: *re-reading text* Oh! Okay, I see it now.
Kagome: Good. Now on with the fic!
Chapter Two: Yusuke
Yusuke growled to himself as he bounded off into the woods, away from his friends and teammates. He was furious and needed to work out his frustration on something, so he turned to hunting for demons causing trouble in Ningenkai.
All along the way he cursed himself. `How could you have been so stupid as to lose control like that?!' he reprimanded himself. He still felt guilty about all those innocent people he had killed. The teenager felt even guiltier that he wasn't aware of what he was doing and only found out about it when Koenma gave him the newest mission.
That thought stopped him for a moment as it brought up a whole new question. Did Koenma know that the dog demon that slaughtered all those people was actually the leader of the Reikai Tantei? Did he realize that Yusuke was the culprit, the threat they were searching for? After all, the mission said only to bring in the dog demon for punishment. Did that mean that he was to be brought in for punishment even as Yusuke and the hanyou lord? Or did they have to separate him?
Either choice seemed to bode ill for the strong-willed teen. He ranked in the upper s-level of the power tree, and since he was a king, it would be hard to bring him in without a war breaking out in his absence. Yet, if they decided to try and separate him, how would they do it? And would it hurt? Would he survive the separation? After all, the dog demon form was part of him, just like the human and hanyou forms.
Yusuke shook his head and continued jumping from branch to branch, heading for the slums of the city. He didn't know what they planned to do, but he did know that none of his three aspects wanted to make it easy for them to track him and do whatever it was they decided to do.
Upon reaching the poorer sections of town, Yusuke quickly vented some of his frustrations on half a dozen hapless d-level monsters. Then he changed back to his human form and wandered the streets, wondering what his next move would be.
He couldn't go to the Makai. It was too easy to track him there. Same with his home here in Ningenkai. The spirit world was what had hunted him in the first place.
Nowhere was safe, and his dog demon side growled in frustration, his hanyou side echoing it. His human part, however, felt like crying, but the other two powers residing within him forbid it.
Feeling trapped, Yusuke decided that he would let them track him to the nearby forest. Then, if he didn't like what they had to say, or if they had decided to just take him in and explain to Koenma that Yusuke was the bloodthirsty dog demon, he'd flee and find a place to hide for a while. After all, he was strong enough now to hold them all back and escape if he really had to.
Secure with his plan, he quickened his pace, heading for the forest to await his friends.
Once he arrived there, he set about protecting himself from any ningens that might accidentally stumble into his hiding place. He could not use plants to bar the way as Kurama could, and he did not have a Jagan with which to see approaching danger like Hiei, but he could still protect himself.
He masked over his ki, making it all but impossible for any demon under b-class to detect him. Next he used a bit of his youki to put warding spells on the trees. It was a trick Genkai had taught him, and had come into use many times in the past. Any humans who didn't have a significant amount of spiritual energy who approached his resting place would suddenly be distracted by some urgent errand and would go in a different direction.
Confident in his precautions, he changed into his hanyou form. It allowed for better hearing and smelling, so he would be able to sense the approach of the others, as well as their general attitude. If he sensed a good deal of hostility, well, more than just Hiei's at any rate, he'd know that they meant him harm and would flee before they ever reached him.
Sending his ki searching, he found them not too far away, in the slums where he had hunted, trying to pick up his trail. So far he felt no hostility, but instead anxiety and resignation, especially on the parts of Kurama and Hiei. He didn't know what they had planned, but apparently it involved those two quite a bit, and they didn't like it in the least.
Yusuke sighed. If those two didn't like it, he probably wouldn't either. Oh, well, no point in worrying about it now. He leaned back against the bark of the tree he had climbed and waited patiently for his friends to arrive.
Kagome: All right. Two chapters in one night. I might get more out, I don't know. Depends on how fast I can type them up and how long the ideas last, I suppose.
Raven: Yay! In the next chapter we learn what's needed to separate Yusuke's dog demon form from the rest of him, and why Kurama and Hiei aren't too happy about it.
Nathaniel: *sigh* Yeah, yeah, yeah. Quit being so impatient, wouldja?
Kagome: *grins* Don't worry. If she gets too noisy, I'll just throw her out the window. It seems to work *pauses* For a while anyway.
Raven: *pouts* You're so cruel!
Kagome: Yes, yes, I am.
Nathaniel: *ignoring Raven and Kagome* All right, people. Read and review please. And please be nice. This is her first Yu Yu Hakusho fanfic, so she's not really sure how to go about this. We apologize for any OOCness in the next few chapters, but that's how she wants them, so that's how they'll stay, okay? Arigato!
