[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Disclaimer: Be glad I don't own it. Mukuro wouldn't exist, Yomi would have died in his fight against Yusuke, and Kurama and Hiei would be more than friends.
Beware Mukuro, Karasu, and Yomi fans! Kuorune fans welcomed but realize this is not a KxK fic.
Kurama's 16 in this story by the way, so is Hiei.

"Hey there, pretty boy, slow down a bit."
The 11yr old boy didn't, instead he started to run. For a while the young boy managed to keep ahead of his pursuers, but as fate would have it he slipped on the loose gravel of the cold dirty street. The boys' assailants finally caught up tothe kidand surrounded him.
"MOM!" he cried, but he went unheard, for his mother had gone shopping and wasn't going to be back until seven.
What the group did to him, well, I leave that to your imagination for now.

"Shuichi. . . " That voice. . it's so . ."Shuichi, honey. . ." familiar. " Wake up." With a flutter of his eyelids Kurama opened his brilliant green eyes, still shining with unshed tears.
" Honey is everything alright? I heard you cry out in your sleep. Was it another nightmare?"
"Mother I'm fine," she pressed her hand to his forehead, "really." He said this as he gently pushed her hand away from him.
" Alright, well you don't seem to have a fever." Kurama knew his mother was truely concerned. Her tone of voice was a dead give at that. 'Well, what do you expect, she is your mother.' Her gaze seemed to penetrate his as she search his eyes for something. After a moment of this unspoken staring contest he finally looked away.
"Shuichi, is there something you're not telling me? Are you keeping something from me?" at her words of concern his fear ebbed slightly.
"No kaasan," his smile back in place, "I would not hide anything from you." It hurt to lie to her but he could never bring himself to tell her about what had happened to him. She smiled and leaned foreword to hug her son lovingly.
After a moment she held him at arms length and said "You know I always forget to tell you how much I appreciate you, for being the wonderfull son you are. Thank you." Kurama, however, remained silent, the memories of his past still plagued him. Even in his mother's arms he didn't feel safe.

As Kurama's feet carried him down the street, a gentle breeze pulled his red velvet locks away from his face. His glowing green eyes glazed in thought.
(sigh) Well, it's the first day of school, a whole new year of gawking females, jealous boyfriends, and bullies. Yep, good bye summer vacation, hello first semester.
You see Kurama had admirers, man did he have admirers, but no one was willing to risk getting beat up for getting too close to him. It was mostly because of the rumors of him being gay. Some kids swore they saw him making out with some college student named Kuoronue, others said he slept with Karasu. Whether or not these rumors were true Kurama neither confirmed nor denied. When asked he merely stated: "My sexual preference is none of your concern."
Everyone knew better than to ask him about Karasu, he always freaked out when his name found it's way into the conversation. Everyone also knew that something bad had happened between the two. So, the rumors concerning them spread faster than the others.
Rounding the corner, his high school came into view. Another sigh escaped his parted lips as he bitterly thought, 'Just another year of good grades and boring weekends.'
Continuing his five minute walk to the front double doors a shout rang through the air, bringing him back to his senses.
"Out of the way RED!" Kurama turned just in time to see Uremeshi heading towards him on his bike, a little to fast, down the side walk. Kurama jumped out of the way only to dodge Kuwabara Kazuma pedaling as fast as he could to keep up with his best friend Yusuke.
With the shock of nearly getting run over, Kurama stood in the middle of the street staring at the rapidly disappearing figures until a car horn blared at him to get him out of the way.

Kurama sat in his desk as the other students filed in after him only moments later. Kurama had chosen a seat in the middle of a row of desks near a window. There was a perfect view of the Sakura trees near the window.
(sigh) 'To bad this is only my home room, I would have liked sitting here everyday.'
"Alright class," said the teacher, calling everyone's attention (including Kurama's), "when I call you name, please come to the front of the class to receive your schedules." As the teacher called out names Kurama looked around the room and found that he recognized noone. There were a few girls looking to catch his eye and several boys throwing him dirty looks, but he ignored them.
"Minamino, Shuichi."
Kurama slid out of his desk and walked to the front of the room when suddenly, out of nowhere, a foot shot out from under a desk. He had seen it just in time to step over it with casual ease only to receive a rude whispered remark, something along the lines of 'faggot', from the boy who owned the leg. Kurama merely glared at him coldly before continuing to the front of the room. This was going to be a long day.
xXx (meanwhile, a certain number of feet in the air. . .)
Jaganshi Hiei tried to relax in the airplane chair as he glared at the horrid airplane food with his ruby red eyes.
'Disgusting. This damn airplane is making me feel claustrophobic.' Hiei then turned his gaze through the window at the white clouds that seemed to mock his captive state.
xXx
A shout lifted Kurama from his thoughts as he traveled home after school that day.
"Leave me the hell alone you creepy son of a bi-. ." The young man who had been shouting before stopped when his eyes fell on Kurama, enraptured. He was almost his opposite in almost every way, spiky black hair, white starburst, garnet eyes, also, Kurama noticed, rather short.
Kurama found himself lost in that deep red gaze with a seemingly mingled expression of confusion and interest. The kid seemed to catch himself staring and fixed Kurama with a cold stare instead.
'So this person is moving in next door. . .' Kurama thought as he looked past the vertically challenged boy to the moving van parked in the driveway.
"Come on kid, just let me help you unpack. I'm just trying to be neighborly." said a familiar voice. Karasu. No more need be said, that name explained it all. The boy's anger, his cold expression, the tension. If someone like Karasu had been the first to greet Kurama to a new neighborhood, he probably would have begged his mother to go back. Karasu stepped out from behind the van as he said this and when he saw Kurama, he smiled.
"How ya' doin' Kurama?" said Karasu as his smile turned into a wicked grin.
Kurama at first just stared at him as if he was just a piece of crap on his shoe before he stated coldly, "Still have a thing for harassing young men I see."
"Hmmm, well anyways, I like your cute new neighbor." Kurama spared the boy between them a quick glance. Oddly enough he had to agree. "I've been trying to welcome him to the neighborhood but," Karasu sighed dramatically,"He's been rather rude to me."
"Fuck off!" The angry kid moved so quickly that Kurama almost didn't see him flit to where his stuff was. He grabbed his bags and stormed inside his new home.
'What a cute little firefly. Quick on his feet and lit with a cool fire, I'm already drawn to him like a moth to a flame.' Kurama looked to Karasu, still smirking after the angry newcomer. 'It seems I'm not the only one drawn to him.'
"So Kurama, you never answered my first question, how have you been?" As if in reply, Kurama turned heel, walked briskly inside his house, and slammed his door shut. Karasu merely headed home, chuckling.

Well, review and tell me what you think. Is my spelling way off? Is it worth continuing?
