The boy Yusuke glowered at Kohana angrily before completely turning away. Kazuma, turned away long before and began to twiddle with his pen due to his immense boredom from the first five minutes of school.

"I hope that you all did your homework. Please take out your poems; I trust that you all chose appropriate ones." Mr. Takenouchi said boredly while scratching his balding scalp.

Soon, the sounds of folders smacking the desks, binders snapping open then closed, and papers being ripped from notebooks were heard throughout the classroom. Kohana calmly pulled out a piece of printer paper from a pocket on her black messenger bag. The title of the piece read `Iris'.

"Since Miss Kakinomoto decided to come late today, I will let you go first Kohana and then Kai' Enna will be allowed to go." Takenouchi told them. He never liked the two girls for reasons they didn't know nor cared about. Being the attention of a teacher wasn't something either one of them desired.

Kohana stood up and shifted her weight to the right side of her body as she looked down at her paper, "Well, Mr. Takenouchi it's not really a poem, it's really a song."

"A song is good too, please read it." he told her whilst rubbing his temples. He was growing old and no longer liked his profession at all.

"All right. It's called Iris. `And I'd give up forever to touch you

'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life 'Cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything feels like the movies Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am'."

"That was very interesting, Miss Kakinomoto. You seize to amaze us. Now, please tell us why you chose that piece of writing." Takenouchi tells her trying to sound kind.

"I chose it because one, it's my favorite song." she shifted her weight to the left side of her body, "And two, the lyrics say something to me and can make all of my emotions change completely."

Yusuke mumbles something rude and yet so like him after Kohana says this. She quickly turned around at him to glare at him angrily then quickly took her seat.

The first hour seemed to last days, months, years even. When the alarm when off for the second class, Takenouchi left the room and the second teacher of the day didn't come in. Instead, a substitute who kindly introduced herself as Ms. Higashiyama. She was a woman in her early twenties; it was obviously her first teaching job because she simply let everyone have a free period.

"You know what I realized?" Kai' Enna asked Kohana while sitting on her desk, Kohana still in her chair.

"What?"

"We have half a day today."

"Why?" Kohana asks suspiciously. If there was any amount of time off from school, any at all, she would know.

"Dunno. Some stupid teacher thing. They need us to clear out of the rooms so hey, we get off."

"Cool."

Soon, two girls approached Kohana and Kai' Enna. They both wore mini-skirts. One a shocking pink one and the other a sky blue one. They also both wore tube tops. The pink skirted one wore a black one and the blue skirted one wore a deep yellow one. And they both wore pink black flip-flops.

"It seems that we have company." Kohana said aloud for the two girls to hear.

"Hi Kohana, Kai' Enna." the two girls said happily at the same exact time.

"Yo."

"Hi."

"Where'd you get that shirt?" One of the girls asked Kohana while pointing to her Invader Zim T-shirt.

"I bought it."

"Where did you buy it?"

"Why should I tell you? It's not like you'd wear anything that I wore so…" Kohana trailed off, not bothering to insult her.

"Oh c'mon Kohana, you can tell your good friend Ari anything." she told her cheerily.

"I have a good friend Ari?" Kohana asked sarcastically.

The sky blue skirted girl behind Ari remained silent. Obviously, she was her sidekick, her follower, the girl that always wanted to be as good as her but never was so she had to stick with second place.

Kohana stared at the girl, her name was Umi. Apparently, she was Ari's best friend; very pretty, skinny, nice bust, gorgeous face, but she still was not Ari. Because Ari was pretty and had even more money then Umi did. Even though Kohana and Kai' Enna were nothing like them she couldn't help but wonder if her and Kai' Enna were like that. Kohana had always gotten more attention than Kai' Enna even though she didn't want it. Even thought Kohana and Kai' Enna were best friends, their personalities were completely different. Kai' Enna's was bubbly, optimistic, cheerful, and fun. Kohana's was cynical, realistic, impassive, and cold even.

Kohana always talked more. She didn't enjoy talking to the people at school but she talked more than Kai' Enna did. Still, her and Kai got along well and they feeded off the others energy. Together they were a whole. Their two personalities clashed and combined at the same time.

"Hey, Kohana, they're gone." Kai' Enna told her.

She had gotten so wrapped up in her thoughts that Ari and Umi just left. When she and Kai' Enna were about to start a conversation, they were interrupted by the two transfers, Yusuke and Kazuma.

"What is it?" Kai' Enna asked, pretending to be nice.

"Is your name really Kohana?" Kazuma asked.

"Yes, Kazuma, my name really is Kohana." she told him, not in the mood to make a witty comment at his stupidity.

"Call me Kuwabara, everyone does."

"And what's with your shirt?" Yusuke asked, being the second person to point at it in five minutes.

"It's a shirt, so what?"

"Where'd you get it?" he asked, trying to make her angry.

"The internet."

"Hey, maybe you can show us around the school and this town later." Kuwabara told them.

"Maybe." Kai' Enna said, "After I vomit up my sleeve."

"No, let's do it." Kohana told her, "After all, what's wrong with being nice to new students. We hardly get any."

"Yeah, and maybe we can hang out somewhere." Yusuke added, trying to push Kohana over the edge.

"Sure." she answered, unaffected.

"And then maybe we can go over to your house and-" Yusuke tries to say but Kohana cuts him off.

"And maybe I can dip you in hot wax."

"And then maybe we can go up to your room and-"

"And we can vomit until we die." Kai' Enna tells him.

Both Kai' Enna and Kohana glare at them angrily and they continue to tell them all of the stupid possibilities of things that would never happen. Ever.

"Shut up or I'll bite you." Kohana says angrily or as angry as she can get.

"And she'll do it." Kai' Enna tells them.

"Feisty are we?" Yusuke jokes perversely.

"Ignorant are we?" Kohana asks angrily.

They both laugh loudly and walk away while laughing. They go over to a desk on the far side of the room and talk to each other.

"You do realize that you offered to show them around, right?" Kai' Enna asks Kohana seriously.

"Yep."

"And you do realize that we are going to show them around the city, right?"

"Yep."

"Well, why are you so calm miss?" she asks suspiciously.

"Perhaps they might get lost, or get robbed, or something." Kohana tells her, grinning slightly.

"I'm sure you'll come up with something."

After two more hours of school, the day ends at one o'clock. Kohana and Kai' Enna quickly left the building in search of Yusuke and Kuwabara.

"So, where do you think they are?" Kai' Enna asks Kohana.

"They're somewhere around here…there." Kohana answered, pointing to a large tree with Yusuke and Kuwabara under it. With them, were two boys, one with long red hair and green eyes and another with spiky black hair and red eyes.

"Four of them?" Kai' Enna asked, in astonishment.

"Apparently so."
