Gray clouds covered the bright moon and blocked the roads from its natural light, leaving everything in a concealed, dangerous mystery. Thunder and lightening clashed into the night sky as raindrops began mercilessly pounding down below, sparing no one and nothing, not even a certain teary-eyed brunette.
She stopped running when she was two blocks away from her house and crouched over with her hands on her knees, as she gasped for air. Thunder boomed in the distance, causing the girl to look up into the clouds. A hollow smile formed on her face when she felt wet, cold drops touch her face.
Hmm, how ironic…the skies are crying for me
Keiko thought sadly, as she felt water mix with salty tears of grief.
When her breathing went back to normal, Keiko stood straight up again and began walking slowly, almost leisurely as the rain still poured on and on.
Yes, let it rain. Let the rain take away my pain.
Keiko felt the cold, stinging water seep through her top and skirt, but still continued to walk at a slow pace. She had been such a fool. How could she have not predicted this possible ending? She knew there would be pain and grief, but she had not expected it to hurt this much. It felt like her heart had broken into pieces. Wasn't she supposed to feel relieved, even happy, now that she no longer had to worry about getting hurt again? She was supposed to move on with her life now and forget the boy she had fallen in love with. So why was she in such a miserable condition? No!! This had to be done. It was the inevitable. She had just sped it up and avoided further pain and heartaches. Yes. She had done the right thing even if it did hurt. No matter. She would be strong and she would survive.
A spark of hope lit within her cold, shivering form as she had come to terms with herself. She finally awoke from her thoughts and noticed that she still had one more block to walk and the rain didn't seem like quitting anytime soon.
Uh-oh, I'd better run and get out of the rain before I get sick!
With that thought in mind, Keiko got ready to sprint the rest of the way home when she stood paralyzed in terror. She heard something. She then shook her head in denial, telling herself that she was just imagining things and that nothing would be out in this kind of weather…well except her of course…and Yusuke, who she hoped had gotten away from the rain by now.
Ughh, snap yourself out of this Keiko, you've got some running to do!
At that exact moment, she saw a black blur flash before her eyes, but it was gone in the blink of an eye. She began running as fear crept into her. She squinted her eyes, focusing on getting home instead of thinking about something that was probably just an illusion created by the darkness and rain. Then, she felt it. Something. A presence, she felt something or someone behind her and it was closing in on her fast. This was definitely not good. She pumped her arms and ran, crying out with joy when she came into the sight of her house.
Almost there.
She took her keys out of her pockets so that when she finally got there, she was able to quickly unlock the door. A huge gust swept by her as she opened the door, causing her to momentarily close her eyes before she ran in, slammed, and locked the door shut. She leaned against the door, once again catching her breath. “Made it,” she said aloud.
However, she gave a sigh when she realized that she was all alone. Her parents had gone on a well-deserved vacation, leaving her behind to take care of the house. Despite her insistence to run their restaurant, her parents decided to close it while they were away, telling her that it would be too much for her to handle. It wasn't that she minded them leaving her. On the contrary, she believed that they had been working too hard and needed some time to just relax and enjoy. Another boom of thunder woke her from her thoughts, reminding her again why she hated being alone under this kind of weather.
The house was pitch black, so Keiko felt her way along the wall until she came to where she knew the light switch would be and turned it on, watching the living room instantly light up.
“AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!”
She felt her heart stop beating for one second when she saw Yusuke sitting on her couch, looking as dry as she was wet.
“Yu-Yusuke!! What are you doing here? How…how did you get in?” She asked, wondering how he was so dry. Had he escaped from the rain in time? Questions swam through her head as she waited for the ex-detective to answer.
“Silly, I came to comfort you. I know how you hate thunderstorms,” he said with a smirk, “I came in when you opened the door of course, how else?” the smirk plastered on his face when he saw her eyes widen with shock, then discomfort.
How can he act so…so…normal after what happened? It's like the whole thing never even happened!! Keiko thought warily.
She was tempted to ask him more questions pertaining to how was it that she didn't see him come in or how was it that he successfully stayed out of the rain's reach even as he came to her house. There was no way he could have made it to her house in time and didn't she get a head start? She held her tongue however, as she figured that it most likely had something to do with his inhuman abilities and speed, in which case she would never really understand anyway.
He observed her while she was in deep contemplation, taking in her natural beauty. The flush she had obtained from all the running gave a nice, alluring glow to her face and her wet outfit clung snugly onto her form, showing her every feminine curve, leaving nothing to the imagination.
She snapped back to reality when she felt someone staring at and found Yusuke staring straight at her in an almost eerie way. Her attention was turned away however, as she realized that her clothes were wet and dripping water all over the floor.
Eeepp!! First thing's first, I need to get out of these clothes! Well since he's acting so normal, maybe everything will be okay…Maybe he just wanted to check up on me, yeah…
Keiko thought, even as she felt doubt butt its ugly head out.
“Umm, well, I guess since you're here, you might as well stay until the rain dies down. It's pouring out there like it'll never rain again or something. Just let me go change real quick,” she said as she began to make her way upstairs. When she heard no answer, she repeated it again, but to no avail. “Yusuke? Did you hear what I said?” She asked kind of annoyed. Uncertain, she walked towards the couch where he sat, the wet clothes being the last thing on her mind now. She stood in front of his sitting form, and was about to bring a hand up to his cheek when she stopped herself.
Keiko, stop this! You're not his girlfriend anymore so don't act so caring all the time and stop wanting to touch him all the time. She scolded mentally to herself.
She began pulling away her hand when a larger, stronger hand captured hers. She gasped and stood still, curious at what he would do next. She felt her hand pull towards his face, bringing it up to his lips as he turned her hand over and kissed her palm. He then brought her delicate fingers to his mouth and kissed them as well, before slipping her index finger into his mouth. She took in a suck of air, feeling a foreign feeling creeping into her as she felt his tongue caressing it, his teeth scraping lightly over the soft pad of her finger.
“Yu-Yu…Yusuke? What are you doing?” She asked, unable to say more. For some reason, she could not tear her eyes away from his mouth…and those soft, tempting lips.
Ahhh!! No! Bad Keiko! Stop this now!
Before she could even suppress it, she let out a small whimper. She thought she heard a low growl from him, but completely forgot it when he looked up into her eyes.
She was speechless. Those eyes. They were still brown, but dark, to the point of black and was that a tint of red she saw? This wasn't Yusuke's normal eye color and…and those eyes held unspoken promises and desires. She completely lost herself in those eyes.
“Yu…Yusuke?” She asked softly, afraid now to move or speak further. She pulled her finger out of his mouth, thinking that he would stop her, but he didn't. Her finger came out with a small plop and she watched with fascination as he looked up at her and licked his lips ever so slowly, as if to taunt her and invite her at the same time.
This definitely was NOT the normal Yusuke. She backed away now in tentativeness, as he stood up and looked at her in an almost predatory way. For every step that she took backward, he took two steps forward, until she found herself against a wall. She cursed inwardly how nothing seem to be on her side today, not even her house.
“Keiko, why are you so scared? Don't you want me to hug you until the thunderstorm's over?” he asked her in a most mocking way.
If she hadn't been so scared, she probably would have been angry. Many theories formed in her head as to why he was acting so strange and so calm, but she concluded that maybe he was playing with her, just a dumb joke, like he always did. She hoped that somehow, if she continued talking to him and pretended not to be scared, he would get tired of this little game and go back to being the immature, cursing teen she knew him to be.
“For…for your information, I am not afraid of a little, silly thunder,” she told him in the bravest voice that she could manage at the time.
As if on cue, a huge clap of thunder chose to strike at that very moment, causing her to close her eyes and give a small squeak.
So much for the bravery act. She thought sourly.
She opened her eyes again, trying her best to swallow down an “eep” when she found him next to her face, his nose pressed against hers.
“Not afraid huh,” he whispered to her, an amused look in his eyes.
“Lo-look, just tell me why you're really here, Yusuke. We both know that you are not here just because of some thunderstorm. You're acting as if that conversation in the park never even happened. Are you feeling okay?” She asked, the words all mumbling together due to the proximity between him and herself.
He stepped back a bit and gave her what she thought was a serious look in his eyes, but just like that it was gone, and she found herself once again trapped within those new eyes, which she had never seen until now.
“Eeep!!!” She squeaked when he practically slammed both fists on each side of her head, trapping her once more.
He laughed, then laughed louder and harder until he was practically shaking with laughter.
“What's-what's so funny?” She yelled angrily, momentarily having forgotten her fear of this new side of him.
“You.”
She shut up instantly.
“You and how you're playing this damn game with me, Keiko. You and the way you drive me crazy. Did you really think I was just gonna stand there letting you say no and then just watch you walk away? If you did then you're seriously mistaken.” He whispered to her as he leaned in and lightly nipped at the shell of her ear, feeling her give a small shiver.
She couldn't breathe. His confession stirred up feelings in her, feelings that she didn't want to let out because she knew that once they were out…she would not be able to control them and then…
“Stop this Yusuke, I meant every word that I said back in the park. Why are you making this hard for me?” She asked him, fighting the urge to moan as he growled angrily at her response and aggressively attacked the crook of her neck.
The demon within him told him to just take her right then and there, to claim her and give her a reason why she should be begging instead of resisting. Her resistance only made him want her that much more. The human in him had loved her for so long, had desired her for so long, his sleep plagued by countless dreams of the possible things he could do to her. Just thinking about it caused his blood to boil.
He ignored her question, determined that if he couldn't convince her to stay with him through words, he'd show her through actions. He smirked inwardly. He always was a hell lot better at handling things through actions.
Keiko closed her eyes in frustration, trying so hard to concentrate and control herself.
No…I won't let myself give over just because my body loves…
“Ughh,” she moaned as his lips trailed lightly over an extra-sensitive part on her neck. “Yusuke…no…” she protested weakly, as she clutched onto the sleeves of his green uniform. She felt him smirk against her neck, knowing full well that she was slowly loosing control, and that she knew it as well.
He sucked harshly at her neck then easing the sting with his tongue. He trailed feathery kisses back up her neck and up to her ear.
“Don't fight it,” he whispered to her in a deep, seductive voice.
“Yusuke?” She asked, her curiosity getting to her, what with the eyes and now the voice.
“Yes…and no,” he said as he gave a small chuckle, his breath blowing into her ear.
Before any words were exchanged between the two, Keiko felt a hand glide gently, sensuously up her arm, onto her shoulder and down her back, as she felt wonderful lips attack the other shoulder that had been exposed from her off-the-shoulder top. She leaned her head against the wall, finding it harder and harder to breathe with the things he was doing to her. Sure, Yusuke and her had been a couple once, but Keiko had never allowed anything to go beyond a kiss on the lips.
Feeling the need to touch him in return, she unbuttoned a few of his shirt buttons before sliding a hand onto his chest, hearing him take a sharp intake at the feel of her cool hand. Wanting to torture him in return, she trailed her hand over his chest, exploring the feel of it and how his muscles twitched at her touch. She flicked lightly at one of his nipples and made a surprised sound when he lost control and smashed his lips against hers in an almost painful way. She gasped in surprise, allowing him to take advantage of her and slip his tongue in. She closed her eyes, feeling his tongue explore every part of her mouth as one hand drew soothing circles on her back and the other hand wrapped itself around her hair. She heard him moan when she shyly challenged him, their tongues battling for dominance when at last she surrendered. She felt desire and lust cloud her mind, a warmth quickly spreading in her nether regions.
Finally, but reluctantly the two pulled away for air and Keiko tilted her head back, exposing her neck, offering, tempting him to make marks all over that pretty neck of hers. So he did.
Wanting closer contact, he pushed her roughly against the wall, picking up one creamy, exposed leg to wrap around his waist, then did the same for the other leg. He moaned at feeling her body molded against his.
Keiko moaned at the close contact, her body having never experienced such desire, such lust. She trailed a hand through his soft hair, moving gently against him, causing both to hiss in pleasure when she grinded her hips into his growing bulge. She liked it, so she did it again and again until she saw his eyes grow really red. With an animalistic growl, he slammed her hard into the wall and thrusted back up against her, again and again as he savagely devoured her lips.
She looked into the red orbs and that's when she woke up, as if she had been splashed by a bucket of cold water.
No…no…NO!! Not like this…I…don't want it this way…not like this!
Flashbacks of the park, the talk, the rain, him in her house all quickly blurred through her mind like a movie. No, this wasn't right. She had to stop this before it was too late.
“Yusuke,” She called out his name, hoping to stop him, but it was as if he didn't even hear her.
A shot of pain pulsed against his cheek. He looked up, red eyes full of confusion and halted his movements.
Keiko sighed inwardly as she saw his eyes return slowly to a warm brown.
“Yusuke, let me down,” she told him calmly, hoping that this way she could still leave with whatever dignity she still had left. She felt ashamed now at how wonton she had acted.
“What? Not this again Keiko...” he said lightly as he leaned in for a kiss, but his kiss touched a soft palm instead of those pink lips that he had been aiming for.
“No…I mean it this time Yusuke. I-I don't know what came over me…but I don't want this…this isn't right…” she told him, hiding her shame behind her own bangs.
“What the hell are you mumbling about Keiko? We both wanted this and you goddamn know it,” he told her in an annoyed tone, but nonetheless let her down, biting back a groan when she brushed against him again.
“Yusuke, it's over between us. You're simply manipulating my body, hoping that I'll give in.” She whispered softly.
“WHAT? You…you think I'm just doing this for a good fuck?” he yelled at her angrily, as she cringed at his coarse words, “You think I'm just using you? Do you really think that low of me, Keiko?,” he asked, his tone getting angrier and louder by the minute.
She stayed silent, having nothing else to say.
“Answer me damn it!!” He yelled at her. He was crushed. How could she have thought that he was just doing this because of sex. Why couldn't she believe that he actually loved her with every fiber of his being? That behind the desire and lust was love and respect for her? Why was that so fucking hard to believe?
She stayed silent, refusing to say anything else to him. He had already made a fool out of her tonight, and she refused to do anything that would further her embarrassment.
“Please,” she pleaded, “just go Yusuke…I-I can't take this anymore.”
She jumped when his fist made contact with the wall, leaving a big hole right next to her head. She however summoned all the courage within her and held her ground, looking at him straight in the eyes.
She cringed when a forced, almost psychotic laugh escaped from his lips.
Then just like that, he stopped and met her glare head on.
“You play these fucking mind games with me and now you say that I'm taking advantage of you?!! Fine, I'll leave, but know this Keiko, I will have you. I've always loved you and I will prove it to you. You are mine and no one else's,” he told her, his face mere inches from her own.
“Are you threatening me?!!! I am not a property, Yusuke Urameshi and I certainly do not belong to you or anyone else's!!!” She yelled furiously, pushing him away, but he did not budge.
Their staring contest seemed to go on forever, when suddenly, Yusuke gave a smirk, his aura suddenly all calm and cool again.
“You really are something Keiko,” he stated.
She stayed silent, not knowing how to react to his sudden mood shift. In fact, it was that exact shift in his attitude that made her cautious and suspicious even.
“Well, I guess I better get going before you yell or slap at me again huh,” he said lightly. He unlocked the door and began opening the door when-
“I hope we can still be friends,” came a timid voice.
“Hmm,” was all he said as that calm smirk remained on his face. He opened the door to let in clear moonlight, symbolizing the calm after the storm.
“ Well then, since you love playing these mind games of yours so much, how bout I return the favor hmm? You must be tired after all the crap that's happened tonight. You should go get some rest…but after that….” He trailed off, smiling a smile that he usually did when he knew something others didn't.
He leaned into her ear before she could protest and whispered ever so gently,
“Let the games begin.”
And with that, he was gone, leaving a dazed Keiko to ponder over the meaning of his last words.
“Let the games begin…” she mimicked, utter confusion in her voice as she slumped to the ground and leaned against the wall, bruised lips and necks, wet clothes, and all.
A/N: Well now, that was quite a chappie if I do say so myself, with much drama and everything. I'll be anxiously awaiting reviews and comments. Until next time,
