Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Secrets revealed ❯ chapter 3 ( Chapter 3 )
She looked down with shock at the scattered pieces of her attacker, it reminded her of a puzzle. She looked up at a man with black spiky hair and emotionless blood red eyes. She swallowed thickly as she tightened her grip on her dagger, inching away from the new comer. Hid lips curved into a small smirk, "Do you actually plan to attack me with that little thing?"
She removed the dagger from its hiding place behind her back and lowered her defense, "Who the hell are you and what do you want?" Her eyes showed anger as she walked closer to him.
He looked down at the approaching girl, Kind of cute that she's trying to threaten me, "Hn…don't worry I won't kill you."
"How do I kno…Look out!"
Hiei turned around and slit some guy in halves as he entered into a new battle with an ax. The girl was grabbed from behind, having her own dagger turned against her, the cool metal brushing against her throat. Finding it difficult to breath she elbowed the man in the pressure point below the arm on the side, he released her and fell to his knees. She retrieved her dagger and slit his throat readying to take the next demon charging at her. Meanwhile Hiei was jumping back and dodging the ax being swung as if aimlessly. The ax brushed by his face and he jumped on it following its path to the back of his opponent's head and sliced it off, falling limp to the floor. He looked over in the girls direction and saw a demon on top of her, his sword grazing along her flesh, drawing a thin stream of blood. She tightened her face trying not to scream from the pain. She was struggling to push him off of her but was not successful.
Hiei went to help her but was soon attacked by another man with a sword. Dammit I let my guard down. He dashed towards him and aimed for his neck but was slashed his right side. He placed his hand over his wound and growled as he ran to attack again, never give up. Slicing the demon 16 times. Satisfied he looked back at the girl and saw her lying against a tree holding her bloody arm. She had stabbed her dagger into the demons forehead. He walked over to her and offered his hand, she hesitantly took it and stood up, wincing at the pain. She brushed the hair out of her face and looked up at the young man, "So what was your name?"
"Hiei."
She smiled and took his hand into a hand shake, "Ryu." She walked over to the freshly killed demon and yanked out her dagger wiping off the oddly purple blood. She looked up roaring clouds and saw a few streaks of lightening light up the sky. Well this will be fun walking home in.
Feeling her uneasiness he offered the shelter off a near by cave until the storm had passed, she took up the offer but threatened to kill him first if he tried to kill her. "With that pathetic excuse of a dagger?" was his response. She tightened her fists and followed Hiei into that cave.
She ran into the cave soon after the downpour had began and patiently waited for Hiei to come. She rested on the wall of the cave as she watched Hiei rest on the opposite side. She had noticed that his side was oozing blood, he was cut rather deep. She then looked at her wounds, a cut across her collar bone and 5 slashed on her arm, hopefully the bleeding would stop soon. She walked over to the entrance of the cave and rinsed off her cuts, tearing off the sleeve to her shirt and bandaging them. Hiei watched her as she did this. It impressed him that she could defend herself as well as she did. Especially with a little dagger. He had also sensed something when she was fighting. Her spirit energy rose the more she got pissed off, she got stronger. She couldn't be just a gatekeeper, they were a peaceful breed born to carry out their destiny and to die helping people. This wasn't her, she had a fighters spirit, and yet was kind. She then ripped off her other sleeve and soaked it walking over to Hiei. She kneeled down beside him and looked at his cut. "Get away from me."
"Oh shut up I need to at least look at it." Growled Ryu.
He leaned up and got closer to her face, "I don't need any help form you."
He was pissing Ryu off now, I guess it's not too good to have a short temper. She tackled Hiei and pinned his arms over his head, exposing his cut. "What about now? His cut had unintentionally expanded from her quickly moving him. He had become too numb to resist and he knew she wouldn't give up. "Hn."
She got off of him and leaned down inspecting the wound. She cleaned off all the excess blood around it to get a better look, yep, it was deep, just like she feared. She noticed there was a reaction taking place as well. The veins around the cut were slighting noticeable and growing darker. She had seen this before. She looked up at Hiei and could tell it was hurting him. "Hm.. Does it sting?"
"No."
"Ugh, stop trying to play the tough guy act and tell me if it hurts or not."
"Just a little, it's not bad at all."
"Do you feel numb and weak?"
"Why?" he said arching an eyebrow.
"Just answer me."
"I'm a little tired."
"You're poisoned. It's happen to be before. It gets into your blood stream and makes you light headed, tired, and numb." She walked over to her back pack and dragged it over, pulling out a purple diamond shaped bottle made out of glass along with a small metal square box. "My friends mom is good with antidotes so she concocted a remedy for me." Hiei lifted up his torso with the support of his arms. He contentedly watched her as she opened the metal box, revealing a clear sticky substance that smelled like citrus. She once again examined the wound, "You're going to have to take your shirt off, I cant get to it so well."
Hiei looked at her and growled in his throat, reluctantly he took off his shirt, too weak to argue anymore. She began rubbing on the sticky substance, his skin felt as if it were burning. His arms were reminding him that they were too weak to hold him up but he ignored their plea, he was curious in what Ryu was doing. He had never really had anyone tend to his wounds. He looked at the cuts on her arm, they weren't exactly little scrapes but they didn't seem to bother her. He brought his attention back to what she was doing to his cut, she had finished rubbing the gel on and then handed him the crystal vile, he looked up at her blankly. "Drink this." He looked at her hesitantly and grabbed the vile, staring at the placid liquid. Why the hell did he trust her so much, for all he knew this could be a poison that could actually kill him instead of stun him. He watched her as she began putting things back into her bag; she looked at him and weakly smiled. He drank the remedy as if it were a shot of alcohol and gave the vile back to her. Odd, the drink had to flavor what so ever; he couldn't even remotely taste what the ingredients were. She tied his shirt around his chest to cover up his wound and walked over to the other side of the cave and yawned, resting her body on the crevassed rock. She turned her head towards the cave and watched the rain shower the earth with its calm reassurance.
Hiei pulled himself up and rested his back up on the wall, parallel to Ryu. He closed his eyes and expanded his lungs with fresh air. The mist from the rain warmed up the cave and the bolts of lightning cast an eerie light with creeping shadows. Hiei tried to help stop himself from drifting off to sleep but the poison was getting to him. He could feel the remedy fighting off the toxins, making him even more weak. Ryu cleared her throat and began talking in a soft voice, never taking her eyes off the rain, "So what kind of demon are you?"
"Does it really matter?"
"I was just curious."
"I'm a fire demon. Happy?"
She suddenly got a serious look on her face as she turned to look him in the eye, "Why'd you save me?"
"It's not like I planned on saving you, your not worth my time. I was in the mood to fight and I saw some demons attacking you."
Ryu smiled and looked down, closing her eyes, "I saw you start to come over in my direction when you saw that man on top of me. I'm not stupid."
It pissed him of that she almost knew how he was, the tough guy act, never showing pain or emotions. Acting as if he never cared for anyone. How she knew he did help her and attempted to get the demon off of her. He didn't say anything. Only looked at her.
"Thank you," she said softly as she lied down using her leather jacket as a pillow. Hiei looked at her bewildered. She acted so comfortable around him, no sign of fear or uneasiness. She acted so natural, she even treated his situation. Random thoughts passed through his mind as everything began to fade away.
