"So, how long do you think until we get there?" asked Kuwabara.

"Depends on who we encounter…I just hope this will be somewhat easy." Replied Boton, rather cheerfully.

Yuske grabbed his stomach and moaned, "Man I'm so hungry, does anyone know where the closest town or something is?"

Boton hit Yuske, "Oh stop your complaining!"

Ryu had stopped paying attention to their arguing hours ago and began thinking; she didn't know how to close a portal. She hadn't the slightest clue of what to do even if they did make it to the portal. She looked up from ground and noticed she had fallen behind, all was good though, at least she was with someone. "How's your side?"

"Hn."

"I thought I told you to stop the tuff guy act." She looked over at him and smirked, not expecting an answer but some kind of acknowledgement.

Hiei closed his eyes and looked down, playing half of a smile, "It's fine. How's your arm?"

She looked up at him surprised, then looked down at her arm, "Oh it's fine. The one on my chest might scar though."

"You didn't treat them did you?"

She shook her head, "I've never really been good at helping my self."

A tap on the shoulder and startled the two. Boton had suck up between them, "Aw look how cute!"

Both Hiei and Ryu growled, "Shut up!"

Boton laughed and ran up to where the others were, swiftly turning back she yelled, "We're setting up camp soon!"

"Is she always that cheerful?" asked Ryu. Hiei nodded. They continued to walk by each others side the rest of they way to town, eat, and back to where they had to set up camp. They didn't want to sleep in town and have the risk of the word spreading about the gatekeeper setting out on her pilgrimage.

The fire was surrounded all with the exception of Hiei. Of course Yuske and Kuwabara were loud and obnoxious. Yuske's cocky side was starting to annoy Ryu, but she knew he was an all around good guy. Kurama was resting upon a rock listening to the conversation, randomly placing his input on things. She looked at Boton smiling, notifying them on any detours they might have to take and informing us of any precautions. It was funny how she acted like she could run things. Ryu was growing bored of their talk so she decided to go for a walk in the woods. How safe it was she didn't know but it couldn't be too bad, they were only on the outskirts of town she could easily run for help. As a matter of fact she could just as easily defend herself, hopefully.

Oddly enough the forest was peaceful as she twisted and turned avoiding broken branches and what not. The rays from the moon lit up Ryu's face as she gleamed at the sky; there were no stars, just a full moon. The trees bowed down to the moons grace as she put forth a silver halo around her body. She had the power to watch over whomever she wished, and Ryu was the lucky number. The sound of crashing waters echoed throughout the forest. She came upon a towering waterfall. Beautiful. The sprinkling mist was warm on her skin. She skimmed down the waterfall and further down the river to see Hiei unsheathing his sword. Intrigued, she sat on a stepping-stone in the middle of the river, unnoticed. She diligently watched as he began slashing at his invisible opponents. He was rather good at wielding his sword. She remembered how he had sliced up his victims that night, how swift he was. About to slice a big oak he abruptly stopped mid-swing, and glared over at Ryu, "What do you think you're doing?"

"Are you really that stupid that you can't guess what I was doing?" Hiei was soon in her face, his sword pressing up against her slender neck. "Don't play games with me woman!"

A little stunned, Ryu side kicked Hiei's knee causing him to collapse. Noticing he loosened his grip on his sword she quickly stole it from his hand and placed it against his masculine neck while pinning him down, they both hit the shallow water. She had to smile and the aghast look that overtook his face, "How about teaching me some of those moves?"

Hiei deviously grinned and used all of his force to roll over and retrieve his sword and sheath it. He wrapped his leg around hers as she fell on top of him. He grabbed her arms and rolled her on her back, holding her arms across her chest, slightly holding her up so her face wouldn't reach the water. Now he was dominant, he moved his face closer in starring into her eyes, "What makes you think you're worthy of learning my techniques?"

Ryu starred back into his crimson eyes, they weren't as cold as they were that one night. He was having fun playing with her. She smiled with satisfaction, "I managed to pin you down twice didn't I?" With that Hiei let go of her arms, still on top of her. He crossed his arms and scanned the forest. After thinking for a second he looked back down at Ryu, she had lifted her self with her elbows and was staring at him, waiting a response. He smirked as he got off from on top of her and helped her up from the water. "What do you plan on training with, those little daggers of yours?"

She grabbed the bigger dagger from her belt and studied it. She bent down and pulled out the smaller one from her boot. One was probably not a match to his sword but if she used to she could block his sword by forming an `x' with the blades. There were many possibilities with two daggers. She looked up at Hiei, arms still crossed. "They are all I have."

Hiei smiled and unsheathed his sword pointing it, perfectly parallel to the ground, at Ryu. Ryu moved to a wider stance, taking the defensive side, placing the bigger dagger in her right hand and thrusting it forward, the smaller in her left and guarding her neck. Hiei dashed forward at her slashing his sword downward. She lifted her right hand to stop the impact and swung forward with her left dagger aiming for his right side. He quickly brushed away her hand and squeezed her wrist causing her to loosen her grip and allowing the dagger to take a swim. Sword still in his left hand he wrapped her left arm with his right against her neck, slightly pressing against her trachea. He then wrapped his arm around her right and pulled in to his back, putting Ryu in a very uncomfortable position. She then tightened her right hand widening her wrist making it hard for Hiei to hold on. Gaining access to his fingers she pulled the middle one back as he fell to the floor. No matter who your fighting fingers can be a weakness. She was now free form his grip. Soon after he jumped up in the air and thrust his sword forward. Ryu braced her right leg as she lifted her arms and formed and `x' with her blades trapping his sword in between them. But his strength by far surpassed hers and he pressed forward, purposely missing her with his sword, but still causing her to fall back and hit her back on a stepping-stone. Hiei lowered his defenses and placed his sword to his side. "You need to work on building your strength. You can't rely on just your weapons." He then sheathed his sword and walked towards the waterfall and washed himself off.

Ryu sat down on the stone that she had fallen on. Her back was aching now and she could feel blood trickling down, soaking into her shirt. She heard Hiei kneel down behind her, he was looking at her cut, "Hard fall?" Ryu nodded and watching him come to her side and sit down. He starred up at the sky through the towering trees. She studied his facial features; he was quite the cute one. A small child-like nose tipping upward, captivating blood red eyes. Not to mention he had a great body. Not too bulky but lean muscle. She looked down at the rushing waters beneath their feet, "Same tomorrow?"

Hiei turned his head and looked down at her, "I thought your kind wasn't into fighting."

"You heard Kurama, only my mother was that way." Hiei admired her attitude, sarcastic but in a playful way. A fighting spirit all the way. Determination overruled her. He had never met a girl like that before, or at least one that's basically a human. He got up from the rock and put his hands in his pocket and began to walk deeper into the forest. He stopped just in front of the lush and turned around, "You should either go back to camp or come with me, you're not safe being by yourself yet." He then began walking forward again.

She looked back in the direction where the others were. She thought of their stupid conversations and jokes, how bored she was. Her body was craving adventure. I'll go back when I'm ready to fall asleep. She stood up and began walking in Hiei's direction, kicking a small pebble along the way.
