Kurama woke up to find floating balls of fire traveling through the forest; whispers reverberated through the air and the sound of scurrying animals, escaping the intruders of their home. He looked around at the others, he was pleased to see Hiei and Ryu had decided to come back and were sound asleep. Not wanting to wake the others he quietly got up and snuck over to the commotion.

There was a group of about five stocky men, two of which were human. "Where the hell did she go?"

"How the fuck am I supposed to know?"

A tall man interrupted the bickering children, apparently this was the leader of the group, "Shut up. She couldn't have gotten too far. She doesn't know her way around these parts. Lets split up."

"Man boss is going to have our heads for this."

Kurama could smell fresh blood spread across the surrounding leaves, a young demon girl. Her bloods aura was magical, a mage? He easily followed the girls scent through the bushes, being careful as not to attract any attention from the prize searchers. He came to find a girl lying against some broken bark. Her head was resting on her chest, her violet hair caressing her face as the wind blew. She was dressed in a ling black cloak with black silk shoes, almost like a ballerinas shoe. Around her neck she wore a blue crystal being held by a dragons fangs. The craftsmanship was like nothing Kurama had ever seen. It was titanium, almost indestructible; every scale was delicately carved out, placing a sense of motion. The eyes were of a rare emerald. He lifted the girls chin revealing her face. She had snowy white skin and soft features. She wore a think line of black eyeliner above her eye and had three red stars outlining the lower half of both eyes. Her lips were chapped and her skin cold and broken, even her blood seemed cold. She had a severe wound in her gut, she was loosing blood fast. Kurama picked her up and carried her to their camp.

"I found her unconscious against a tree. Some men were after her." Informed Kurama. Everyone surrounded the girl except for Ryu and Hiei had already left before Kurama returned. He began examining her wound, "The cut on her side looks pretty deep. They almost look like claw marks."

"I don't trust her!" said Yuske.

Kurama sighed and folded his arms, "Me either."

"What why? She's hurt we gotta help her." Said Kuwabara.

Kurama examined her closely and tilted his head sideways. He picked up her wrist and saw her veins glowing radiantly, at the fold of the wrist were two holes, "Look at this, I think she was being tested on."

Ryu walked up and shook he head, "She's a vampire."

Kurama looked up at her, agreeing with her and yet not wanting to, "How do you know?"

She inched closer, "Look her lips, slightly raised, swollen. She was just recently bitten. Those puncture wounds on her wrists are the bits, the vampires blood is infecting her blood now."

"I believe you're right."

The girls eyes shot wide open, revealing bright emerald eyes. She showed a feral grin, her teeth razor sharp, she spoke dryly, her quench for blood was growing. She looked at Ryu and growled, "You're mine!" She jumped to her feet and dashed for Ryu, vampires were known for their speed. "I've been sent to kill you."

Ryu drew out her daggers and dodged the girls attack. The vampire jumped to her feet growling. She's like an animal! She began charging for Ryu once more, only being interfered by Yuske's spirit gun, being blown back into a tree knocking it down. In the blink of an eye she was on top of Ryu, the impact of hitting the ground caused her to drop her daggers. Defenseless Ryu kicked up her leg and flipped the girl over her head on top of one of the daggers she had dropped, widening her wound. Ryu quickly got back to her feet and dashed for her other dagger and pinned the girl to a tree as soon as she got up. She pressed down on her throat only to draw a small stream of blood, she then grabbed the other dagger out of the girls side and in one swift motion finished then thin cut and then sliced of her head, her body falling limp to the ground.

"Did I miss anything?" said Hiei looking at Ryu, stunned.

No one answered, Ryu blinked a couple of times to snap out of her daze. She looked around at the beheaded figure and wiped off her blades, placing them back where they belong. She then stepped over the body and grabbed the necklace that had flown off. This has to be important for something. She then walked over to Kurama's side, "It's a brand new day, shall we go?" With that everyone headed out for the rest of the journey.

Hiei and Ryu were once again walking side by side and the others were farther up in the distance. Hiei could see Ryu trembling a little from shock. She could feel his gaze, "I've never killed someone before."

"Did you enjoy the fight?"

Ryu nodded and both were silent for the rest of the walk.
