Kurama and Hiei raced back to Kurama's house carrying a glowing, dark-haired girl. In a few minutes, they arrived. The two partners climbed into the house through Kurama's window. Once inside, Kurama placed the sleeping girl on his bed and left the room, heading towards the bathroom to get a wet towel. He came back several moments later and found Hiei still there staring at her still form with a slightly confused expression.
Kurama took a closer look at her still form. "She's the new transfer student in my class."
"Really?"
"Is something the matter, Hiei?"
"Hn. I was thinking about her strength. She may be a threat."
"Perhaps, but we won't know until she wakes up. And Hiei, don't even think of probing her mind for information."
"Hn. I won't stoop that low. I do have pride and honor."
The red-head shrugs. "Just making sure, Hiei." The fire demon turns away and sits by the window.
"Well, I know we won't need to bandage her. The bleeding has already stopped and she's healing at an incredible rate.

About 6.OO AM the next day:
"Augh..." Rena groggily opens her eyes to find herself in an unfamiliar room. She sits up and looks around herself to find she's in a neat room with her red-haired classmate asleep at a desk and a black-haired boy sitting by the window staring at her. "What are you staring at?"
"Hn. Obviously you. Are you really that stupid?"
She replied with a glare. "Haven't you heard staring is rude?"
The two argued continuously for the next ten minutes, waking Kurama up in the process.
"What are you two bickering about so early in the morning?" He groans as he sits up. 'Next time, I'm sleeping on the couch. Sleeping at my desk hurts my back...'
"Well, anyway, I have to get ready for school. You two get acquainted with each other."
"Hn. I think we have already." Hiei turns away from the two.
Rena looks closely at the desk situated a few feet away from the bed she was on. Her eyes widened slightly at the time. 'He's going to come if I do not return tonight.'
"Is there something wrong, Rena-san?"
She looks up at him as he had already gotten up and was heading towards his closet to retrieve his school uniform. She turns away. "No."
Kurama shrugs. "Okay, but if you need anything; feel free to ask me or Hiei. You should stay put until you're fully healed."
Hiei gave him a look as if saying 'You've got to be kidding!'. Kurama smiles and leaves, heading towards the bathroom.
Hiei mutters something that sounded something like "Stupid human-acting youkai these days.."
Rena turns towards the window-sitting fire demon. He in return, stares right back at her. The two decide to have a little glaring contest. She decides to get up and starts walking calmly over to the said fire demon and stares down at him, trying to intimidate him. He glares back with equal intensity. She slightly winces. 'Must be hurt worse than I thought.'
Hiei, being the observant demon he is, notices and raises a brow at her. "In pain, are we?" Rena blankly stares at him and shrugs. "I'll be fine by tomorrow."
Rena returns to the bed she was occupying several minutes ago, completely forgetting about the glaring contest. Her stomach grumbles, a clear sign she was hungry. She sweatdrops.
"Hungry, huh? Kurama will be returning with your ningen food soon."
She looks up at the mentioning of the familiar yet foreign name. "Kurama? Who's Kurama?"
"...."
"...?"
Hiei's eyes widen. 'Holy crap!! I told her his real name! Kurama is so going to kill me..if not, then hurt me pretty badly.' He sighs, and replies. "That, you can say is Shuichi's nickname."
Rena nods somewhat confused and suspiscious, but didn't show it. 'Can it be? Is he the same Kurama as the legends?'
True to Hiei's words, Kurama came back several minutes later carrying a tray of food which consisted of a piece of toast, two eggs, some pancakes, and a glass of orange juice. "Here's your breakfast." Smile. "Please bring it downstairs once you're finished and hand it to my mother. I told her I had company and she decided to let you stay." He places the tray gently on his desk. He turns to leave but stops at the door. He faces her and smiles. "Enjoy your meal. By the way Hiei, you didn't say anything, did you?"
"..." A sweatdrop rolls down the side of his head.
"I see." Kurama exits.
The fire demon sighs. "This is bad for my health."
Rena raises a brow and giggles at the two's exchange.
"What are you laughing about?"
"Obviously at you."
Hiei growls at her threateningly. She giggles again. "Whatever. I have things to do. I'll leave you here. I'll be back later." With that, he opened the window and disappeared. Rena blinks. 'So fast for such a little guy.' She looks at the desk. 'I'm pretty hungry, so time to eat.' After finishing breakfast, she brought her tray downstairs.

Heading towards what I assumed to be the direction where the kitchen was located, I bumped into a dark-haired woman. "Ah. Pardon me. You must be Shuichi's guest." The woman smiles a calm, gentle smile. I nod and smile back at her. "I see you're done with your breakfast." I nod again and replied, "Yes, I'm done. Thank you. It was delicious."
"Oh, I didn't make it." Smile. "Shuichi did."
"... Guys can cook?" I raised an eyebrow in amusement and my lips twitched.
His mother smiles and chuckles. "Why yes. My son can definitely cook. He's such a good son."
"Someone I know can't cook anything."
She laughs. "I see. Is it really that bad?"
I nod. "Last time, he set the pan on fire and nearly burned down a table."
I can see she's trying not to sweatdrop.
"Oh my, How rude of me. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Shuichi's mother as you probably already know. My name's Shiori."
"Hello, Shiori-san. I'm Chiwaru Rena." I bow slightly to show my respect.
"Such a respectful and well-mannered young lady you are."
I walk over to the sink and set the dishes down and proceed to wash and dry them. In several minutes I was done.
"I see your clothes are a bit bloodied. Did you happen to get hurt?" She seemed concerned.
"Yes and your son and his friend helped me. They're just minor cuts. No need to worry. And I'm so sorry for troubling you." I reassured her.
"No trouble at all! It's nice to meet some of Shuichi's friends."
Friends? If you can consider our non-existant relationship that. I smile at her. Wow, this is a lot of smiling. Never have I smiled so much in my life. Hard not to though to such a kind woman.
"Why don't you change? Your clothes are dirty and I'm sure you need a shower."
"Huh? But I don't have my clothes with me." I answered dumbly.
"Of course you don't. I'll head out to purchase some. I'll be back in several minutes."
"Wait, you don't have to do anything. I'm fine...r-..." She was already gone. I sigh in defeat. I'll have to pay her back somehow. I head out through the back door and into the yard. It was quite beautiful. Flowers of all sorts were in bloom. Vines surrounded the walls, and the grass was mowed. For a few seconds I stood there admiring everything my ruby eyes took in. It seemed so peaceful with the birds chirping and calling out to the wind.
I wonder why Shuichi, if he's Kurama, is living with a human. From what I heard from Shiori-san, he's a good son. This is all quite confusing. Deciding not to think about the subject any further, I sit down on the soft ground and lay back, staring at the clouds over my head. Nice weather today. Before I knew it, I fell asleep under the warm sunlight.
I woke up to gentle hands shaking me. "Rena, Rena." I open my eyes and I see Shiori sitting beside me with a hand on my shoulder and a bag in her other hand. "I'm back with some clothes. I hope these suit your taste."
"You didn't have to Shiori-san. Is there anything you want in return? Help in the kitchen? Money?"
"No no dear, it's alright. I hope these suit your taste though. I bought several pairs of clothing so you'll have something to change into just incase you need it."
"Arigato gozaimasu."
"No problem, dear. Now go on and take a shower and change into the clothes."
"Hai." I head off to the bathroom.

Such a nice young girl. She's such a pretty girl too what with her long dark hair and beautiful ruby eyes. I hope she'll be good for Shuichi. That son of mine, always worrying about me. He really needs to find a nice girl and Rena seems perfect.
I hear water running from upstairs and I assume Rena is taking her shower. I head off to the kitchen to finish up a few things and to chop up some vegetables and meat for dinner tonight.

In about twenty minutes, I'm done showering. I take the clothes out from the bag and found Shiori bought three pairs of clothing. She really didn't have to buy this for me. In about five more minutes, I was dressed in a semi-long black spaghetti-strap dress which reached a little past my knees and had my hair brushed and fixed up in a low loose braid over my left shoulder. I headed downstairs to see if she needed help with anything. I found her chopping up vegetables and several packages of ingredients, meats, and vegetables laid out on the counter. I offered to help and she accepted graciously with that kind smile of hers.

The two women set out to work in the kitchen. With Rena's help, Shiori's work was cut short and they were finished in no time. Approximately one hour was all it took. After they cleaned up, the two decided to sit down in the livingroom over a cup of tea to talk things over.

I headed out of school, relieved that it was over and I can get back home to check on our little guest. I hoped with all my heart that she didn't cause any trouble as when I first laid eyes on her, and our eyes met, I had a sense that she would bring trouble with her wherever she went. She also had that rebellious air around her.
Several more minutes of an even paced walking, I arrived at my house. Opening my pack, I drew out my keys and opened the door. I was greeted with laughter and giggling. I thought my mother had invited her friend over seeing how excitedly they were talking.
"And so I tried a different kind of cabbage, but those turned out to make the dish taste bitter." The unknown female giggled and smiled.
"Yes, I understand now. Cooking can turn out to be a mess when you're experimenting with different ingredients. I remember I once made sour tea."
Hey! I recognize that voice..It's..her? To confirm my suspicions, I head towards the livingroom after taking off my shoes. I was shocked beyond belief. There, sitting on my livingroom couch was THE Chiwaru Rena with a bright smile on her face that reached her eyes and laughing along with my human mother.
It seemed my mother sensed I was here and looked up at me. "Oh! Shuichi dear, you're home!" Rena, startled, looked up as well and seemed slightly embarassed (well as embarassed as she can seem to be , which was only the widening of her eyes.) to have been found behaving in such a way in another's presence.
"I see you were having fun with our guest, okaa-san." I commented with a warm smile.
"Why, yes I was! She's such a darling person to talk to about household chores, cooking, sewing and such. It's amazing how much such a young girl like her knows."
Rena blushed a light pink at my mother's comments. So, even she can blush, eh? She looks rather pretty that way. I then took notice of her clothes. I raise a brow. Where did she find clothes? Did she materialize them? My mother obviously saw my questioning stare as she answered the unasked question with her infamous warm smile.
"Do you like her outfit? I bought them for her. That casual dress suits her well, doesn't it?"
"It does, okaa-san. You're great with picking out clothes as usual."
"Why thank you, dear. I bought her a few pairs of clothing too! You know how I am when I get into the spirit of shopping."
"Aheh.. That, I do." I look up at the clock hanging on the wall where the couch was situated. "Oh. It's time for me to do my homework. I'll see you at dinner, okaa-san." I smile and head up the stairs. I reach my room, and close the door behind me. Setting my bookbag down at the side of my desk, I sit down and turn on the desk lamp and start on my biology homework. In about an hour, I was finished with all my homework. I stretch my arms out to get them uncramped from all that writing.
Hmm... Rena-san seems quite open and happy with okaa-san. I mean, when I came into the house, she was smiling and laughing with okaa-san, but when she saw me, she immediately stopped as if trying to shut everyone else out again. Perhaps okaa-san reminded her of someone? Or...she doesn't have an okaa-san...? Augh, my head. Thinking too much isn't good for me when I don't know where to start from.
"Hn. That's right. Thinking too much isn't good for you Kurama."
I pick up my head and looked towards the window. There, sitting on the ledge of the window was Hiei.
"Where'd you go? Weren't you supposed to watch over Rena?"
"Mission."
"Oh, I see."
"Hn. So, where is she now?"
"Downstairs with my okaa-san."
Hiei raised a brow at me. "Are you sure leaving her down there is safe?"
I shrug. "She seems 'happy' with okaa-san."
"Happy? I doubt she knows what the meaning of smiling is."
"And you do?"
"Hn. That is not the point."
I shrug again. "Well, when I returned home from school and entered the door, I heard laughter and giggling. I figured it must be that okaa-san invited a friend over, but it was Rena-san she was speaking with and the two seemed to get along so very well."
Hiei seemed to be staring at me in disbelief. "You can go see for yourself if you would like. If I'm not mistaken, they should be in the kitchen preparing dinner." Before I could blink, the door opened and closed and Hiei was gone. I smile and said to myself. "Heh, curious fire demons these days."

I left Kurama in his room, masking my energy, and headed to what ningens called a kitchen and to my surprise, there was that girl named Rena smiling and laughing along with Kurama's mother while the two were stirring soup in a pot, mincing fish, and cooking other foods. My eyes widen. She really does seem happy and more, well, human. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Shaking my head, I knock those thoughts out of my head. Why should I care? Feh, ningen no baka.
Is she even a ningen though? I concentrate on the energy she's releasing and shake my head. No, she's no ningen. She's a youkai and clear as rain too. Very strong one also. Heh, she can give Yusuke a beating. I smirk then head back to Kurama's room and found he has changed into more casual clothes. Similar to the ones he wears when he fights. All blue though. A midnight blue that is.
"Your ningen dinner should be ready soon as your mother and that girl are cooperating to make it."
Kurama smiles and nods his head. "I know. I can smell the food. Should be good."

"Shuichi dear! It's time for dinner!" Shiori calls up the stairs. A minute later, Kurama was seated at the dinner table. The table was already set. During the meal, Shiori noticed that Rena closed up. 'She seems to be so happy with me. It must be she doesn't like too many people to be around her or she doesn't know how to communicate with males? Whatever it is, I hope Shuichi can crack through it. She really is a very sweet girl.'
Dinner proceeded without much talk although Shiori and Rena did have a short, fun conversation which caused a few giggles, but that was it. Kurama did raise a brow at this though.
The two teens headed upstairs after exchanging goodnights with the older woman.
Once inside, they found Hiei looking curiously at the bag of clothes Shiori had bought for Rena. Rena raises a brow at the curious fire demon. "Looking for something?"
Hiei nearly jumped out of his skin. He lifts his head and drops the bag. "I was wondering why you ningen wear such clothing."
Rena looking slightly amused only replied an "I see." She picks up the bag and takes out what seems to be a pair of pajamas. "Well, I'm going to change and check my wounds." She leaves for the bathroom.
Kurama turns to Hiei. "Soo, deciding to check out female clothing now, eh? You sneaky fire demon."
"It's not like that!!" Hiei retorted, slightly red from embarassment.
"Oh my! Hiei can blush!"
"I'm NOT blushing!"
The kitsune shrugs. "Whatever, if you say so." He chuckles lightly and sits down at his desk.
A few minutes later, Rena returned clad in dark red pajamas. "You two aren't human, are you."
Kurama shrugs and swivels his chair to face her. "You can say I am and I'm not. My soul is youkai but my body is a human's."
"Not interested in details, but okay." Looking at Hiei now, "You're a fire demon, aren't you?" She looks closer. "Ice too."
If Hiei was surprised, he didn't show it. All he did was shrug then nod and said 'hn'.
"And what about you, Rena-san? What kind of youkai are you?" Kurama asks.
"That is for me to know, and perhaps if you're smart enough, for you to find out." She sits on the other side of the ledge of the window and looks up at the moon. Her hair shimmered under the soft light making her look like a nymph from fairytales. She turned to face Kurama again. "So, where do I sleep today?"
"You may sleep on my bed. I'm taking the couch and Hiei is staying here to watch over you."
"I assure you, I do not need 'watching over'."
"It's just incase something happens."
"Fine."
A half an hour later, everyone's asleep. However, the three youkai bolt up. Well, Hiei just opened his eyes and placed a hand on his katana. Rena's eyes widen slightly. 'I knew he would come.'
"Knew WHO would come?" Hiei prodded.
"You read my mind, huh. Well, when he gets here, you'll know. And he's coming fast."
A second later, Kurama burst through the door. "Someone's headed this way..and I see you two already know."
"She knows whos coming."
"And she won't tell, right?"
"Hn."
A shadowed figure rushes through the open window in a blur and stands before Rena. The figure can easily be seen as a male now with his broad chest and height of about 6 feet 2 inches tall. His short spikey hair was darker than the darkest of nights with dark grey streaks running through it. "I finally found you..." Before he can finish his sentence, Hiei attacked with his katana but didn't connect with anything.

Author's Notes: Done! Slightly longer than the last chapter, eh? Well, I already have new ideas for the next chapter and she gets to meet the gang too. And you'll also find out who this new character is. ^^ Hehe.
