"Another mission?" Yusuke asked with forced calm.

"The Crystal of the Three Worlds has been stolen!" Botan explained hurriedly. "The culprit is someone who bears a deep grudge against Koenma. He didn't express it aloud, but he-all of us-fear that she will use the Crystal's power to kill him."

"Well, THAT sucks." Yusuke said cheerfully. "So we have to save his sorry ass again, huh?"

Botan paled. "I wish it was that simple, Yusuke-kun. The culprit is the Black Vixen."

Kurama and Hiei drew a collective gasp. The others looked at them strangely. "What's the matter, you two?" Kuwabara asked.

They started explaining as one.

"The Black Vixen-"

"Very powerful Youko-"

"FIFTH ward, Spellcaster-"

"Thief, assassin, very like Kurama-"

"BETTER than me, I daresay-"

"Mind you, that's the ONLY time he'll admit that-"

"Because it's TRUE-"

"Anyway, she's very powerful and it's unlikely we'll be able to beat her." They said at the very end in perfect unison.

The others stared. "Ooo…kkaaayyy…" Yusuke said incredulously.

"Geez, you guys really ARE best friends, aren't you?" Kuwabara muttered.

Kurama sent Hiei a look. The look that said if only he knew…

Hiei nodded and sent Kurama a look that said he's a baka.

Kurama stifled a laugh and looked at Botan. "I really don't think it's a good idea to confront the Black Vixen, Botan-chan-yipe!"

He yelped as the ferrygirl, eyes flaming, grabbed his collar and yanked him a few inches down to her height. "We've got to try, Kurama-kun. We've got to try." She released him, and he stood up, looking properly chastised, yet a smile kept playing on his lips.

"Okay, Botan-chan. We'll defeat her and save your koibito."

It was now Botan's turn to yelp. "He is NOT my koibito! He is my boss! The ONLY reason I want to save that POMPOUS rooster is because it's MUCH easier operating under HIM than under Enma-sama!"

Yusuke snickered. "Seems you've hit a nerve, Kurama." He turned to Botan, face serious. "Botan, what is this `Crystal of the Three Worlds' crap?"

She wagged a finger in his face. "Some Reikai Tantei you are. Yusuke-kun, the Crystal is some sort of a deity. You have it; you basically have all three Worlds already in your hands. It holds all the power of Reikai, Makai, AND…" she paused for effect. "Ningenkai."

Everyone save Kurama and Hiei stared at her, open-mouthed.

"Ningenkai? That's our world, right?" Keiko said, face turning panicky.

"Yes, it is." Yukina said worriedly.

Shizuru snorted. "It doesn't matter. I'll pound this `Black Vixen' myself if I have to."

"Will you idiots shut up for a moment?"

They all turned.

"Genka-shihan, what is it?" Shizuru asked. Even she showed respect in the elderly psychic master's presence.

"You have to know the exact place to activate the Crystal of the Three Worlds. Also, you must have the corresponding artifacts. And even then, you ALSO must know the incantation spell. And EVEN then, it takes a while for the Crystal to work, does it not? But I really doubt that she has all five other artifacts, AND the incantation."

Botan suddenly paled-again. "Of course! We should have seen it before!" she counted off on her fingers. "The Golden Artemis, the Statue of Zeus, the Necklace of Athena, the Tiara of Hera, and the Bones of Hades-not his real ones." She added hastily at Kuwabara's expression. "They're simply re-castings. All these artifacts correspond together to activate the Crystal of the Three Worlds! We didn't notice that before…"

Yusuke rounded on her. "And why didn't that baka Koenma call us?!"

"He was very busy. Besides, he didn't think it that big of a deal. All these artifacts have their own power, since they belonged to the gods-no one can keep them for long without going mad-you have two or three days, four days at the most . He figured that they would show up somewhere, so…he didn't call you guys." She threw up her hands sheepishly. "I had no say in it."

Yusuke sighed. "That figures. But how would she know the incantation spell?"

"She will find it. She either seduces people that she thinks will know it and then kills them afterwards, or buys it from the Demon's Black Market."

"Well, this will be an easy case. So Botan, what do we do?"

"He didn't tell me. But here-"she handed the holographic projector to Yusuke. "He told me to give you this."

Kuwabara reached over and turned it on. Luckily the beach was empty while they were there, because a projection as large as Kuwabara was floating in the air. Koenma in his teenage form.

"Hey, you lost the toddler form." Yusuke commented.

"Hello to you to, Leader of the Reikai Tantei."

Yusuke sweatdropped.

"I sent Botan because you have a very important mission. I assume she already filled you in?"

"Yup."

"That's good. The fate of all three Worlds rests in your hands-"

"AGAIN." Yusuke yawned.

"So you all need to-"

"Save them." Yusuke filled in.

"Shut up, baka, and let me speak! This is a serious mission! If you fail, you will ALL be killed. No exceptions."

Yusuke shut up.

"Now, the activation site is a little ways from here, coincidentally. It's about 50 miles west from your house, Kurama." Koenma said. "Since, according to the Ningen rules, you are all old enough to drive-"

"Just got my drivers' license!" Yusuke said proudly.

"It should only take you about an hour to get there. Once you do, it's stakeout all along the way. The Crystal must be activated at midnight on a full moon. That's tonight. Make up some excuse to get away. This girl has the power of ice, psychic, swordsmanship-I daresay better than you, Hiei-, and long, sharp retractable nails. Stay away from her hands. She is a Fifth Ward Spellcaster, so expect magic. That is all. I hope you succeed."

The hologram showed a brief, panicked look on his face before it shut down.

"So it's all settled." Yusuke yawned as he stretched out on a couch in Kurama's empty house. "Kurama has no need to lie to anyone, since Shiori-san isn't home, and Hiei has no need either, and Kuwabara is at Kurama's house and so am I. Thank the gods for sleepovers."

Kurama nodded, taking a sip of his soda. Hiei was on the windowsill as usual. Kurama looked at him briefly before nodding. "Agreed." He looked at his watch. "It's 9:30 right now. We'll leave at 10:00 sharp."

The others agreed, and they settled down to wait.
