Mika hated them, hated all of them. All this just because she refused to sleep with any of them. She was so broken up about it she arrived late to work. Surprisingly Boss didn't say anything to her about it, but that was because all this was his doing in the first place. She swore under her breathe. She arrived too late to go and dress Kali, or Nyx as Kali had asked her to call her. As she thought about her friend her anger momentarily faded, she was also forced into this world. She sometimes had trouble believing that she was human, no other humans she heard about would have been able to survive that long in the Makai on their own. She knew of her fighting abilities, but not of how she was able to fight off demons entirely. Her friend was one big mystery, followed only by another. Talking to her was sometimes like standing in a hallway with infinite doors, and if you managed to open one, you saw what see really felt, but say the wrong thing and the door was slammed in your face, its contents hidden again. Her thoughts again returned back to her own worries. An image of her home flashed briefly before her eyes, causing them to close to hold in the sudden swell of tears. She had returned home to find her house in ruins, her fathers body mangled in with the rubble. She knew he had been dying for a long time coming, he had been mostly dead already, mainly just a living shell, her real father had passed away when he saw her mother dead. He was just a faded memory that she clung to in hopes of never forgetting the past. She knew it was foolish but somthing inside of her wanted to despertely cling to her lost innocence. There were no doubts in her mind who was behind this, it was Arata. That bastard had been after her ever since she had first started working here. He is a bear demon, at first she had thought him handsome, but then she saw how he acted. His perfect skin immediatly took on the look of someone with third degree burns, his thick blonde hair thining to that of a chemo therapy patient in her eyes. He had no respect for any woman, and treated dogs better then them. She refused to have feelings for anything so cruel.
The destruction at her home had his signiture all over it, the large slash marks on the front door spoke all too clearly. She had vowed then and there to someday get revenge. She knew he had his eye on Nyx too, but Boss refused to let any demon touch her. He was no fool, he saw how valuable she was to his business now. He knew without her singing most of his clients would leave, word had spread fast of the 'Dark Siren of the Woods' as she had been dubbed. And rightly so, as far as Mika could see. Her voice somehow was always able to take her back to the days when her mom had been alive and she had had a family. She was again struck by how odd her friend seemed at times. She rarely spoke of any family she might have, not that Mika would press her for the information. She herself had only told Nyx the bare minimum and that was only on one of her fathers worst days when she had desperetly needed someone to confide in. Nyx was a great listener and could always make her friend laugh with her quick wit, sarcasm, and oddly positive outlook. She looked around as she entered the tavern. Something was going to happen tonight, she could feel it in her bones. She arrived just as Nyx finished a song, and new instinctively that her next would be her last. She was sweating in the bright light and she could just barely make out some strain in the girls beautiful voice. When the band started playing the first few notes of the next song, she knew it was one that Nyx had written herself. Besides singing she had a natural talent for playing guitar and writing lyrics. When Nyx sang the first few notes, Mika was hit with a wave of emotions. The words weren't in any language she had ever heard, but the feelings behind them were clear, at least to her. (this is a song by Celine Dion, I do not own it either)((Some of it was in another language and I translated it as best as I could, I think its sad enough to fit her emotions and it does kinda fit the story, o well)) <just pretend that the song lyrics are in a different language then what everyone in my story is speaking, if your the person who reads the lyrics then I think they help with the atmosphere in the story and so it would be better if you knew what the song was saying>
FLY
Fly fly small wing
My soft one, my hirondelle Goes t’en far,
goes serene t’en Qu’ici nothing does not keep
you
Fly fly little wing
My dear, my dove
Go far away, go serene
Let nothing here hold you back
Rejoin the sky and l’éther
Leave
Leave the earth
Leave misery's coat
Change the universe
Rejoin the sky and the Ether
Leave us the earth
Leave misery’s coat
Change the universe
Fly fly small sister
Fly my angel, my pain
Leave your body and we leave Qu’enfin
Your suffering stops
Fly fly little sister
Fly my angel, my breath
Leave your body and leave us
To finally stop the breath will rejoin l’autre
shore the one of the flowers and laughs the one that you wanted
so Your life d’enfant
Go join the other bank
The one of flowers in laughs
The one you wanted so much
Your life
Fly fly my love
Since ours is too heavy
Since nothing does not relieve you
Fly to your last trip
Loosen your exhausted hours
Fly
you tired v Becomes blows,
be dove For t’envoler
Fly fly my coils
Because the burden is too heavy
Because nothing eases your breath
Fly to your last trip
Leave your hours exhausted
Fly, you haven’t stolen it
Become the breeze, be dove
To fly yourself away
Fly, fly small flame
Fly my angel, my soul
Leave your misery
skin will rediscover
the light
Fly fly little flame
Fly my angel, my soul
Leave your misery’s skin
Go rediscover the light
As the last chord sounded Mika opened her eyes, reawakening to the world. She looked around the room and saw all the demons gathered stunned. Then she saw it, a flash in the back of the crowd near Nyx. She thought it was a trick of the light but then she realized that it was Arata, and before she could call out he was behind Nyx on the stage. She was still lost in the lyrics when she felt his arms go around her and he forcefully pulled back her head. She saw him whisper something in her ear and saw Nyx's eyes suddenly blaze. Mika was about to step forward to help when she also was grabbed from behind. The stench of him in her nose told her it was Nanashi, Arata's right hand man. She quickly kneed him in the groin and when he relaxed his grip, she flipped him over her head and into a nearby wall, where he fell unconscious to the floor. She turned back to Nyx and Arata just in time to see Nyx elbow him in the face and turn around to deliver a swift punch to his gut. He made a swipe at her and she dodged it. She kicked him in the side of the head and he went down. All the demons in the room stood by shocked at what they had just witnessed. What they thought to be a mere human girl no less had just taken out probably the strongest of them all. As surprised at this none of them were prepared for what came next, Arata jumped up and shoved Nyx, hard. She fell into a wall and Mika could hear her friends head make impact from across the room. She gasped but she didn't know if it was from that or what she saw next. Upon impact a set of huge black angel wings erupted from her friends back. They looked to be at least six and a half feet from tip to tip (I couldn't decide on 6 or 7 so I settled for a happy medium) and at least five feet wide (You know up and down ways). You could have heard a drop of rain hit the floor. Mika recovered from shock and rushed to her friend. She was at her side in a matter of 3 seconds, but it seemed an eternity. No wonder her friend had seemed so inhuman, becase she was. The news shook her and she was surprised to find that she was hurt that her friend had not told her. She shrugged it off, she supposed Nyx had good reason. All this flittered through her mind in nanoseconds and when she got to Nyx's side her friend opened her eyes, realized what had happened and drew back in her wings. She looked up fearfully and her gaze held Mika's, expressing shame for not telling her friend, shock, and an emotion Mika thought had never passed through the shorter girls eyes, fear. It shone through beacon in the dark.
All at once the room slammed back into motion and Nyx was grabbed from behind and forced up. Mika looked up to see Boss dragging her away. She shivered and felt a hand slip around her shoulders. she looked up to see Arata looking at her, steel grey eyes calm, he leaned down and hissed in her ear "You should have given in to me, now your friend will pay dearly" She turned, ready to strangle him but he was already gone. She never had time to register someone came up behind her until she felt the blow to her head, but she was out cold by the time she hit the floor.
Ah, another chapter done, how am I doing so far? I know this is a story about Nyx but I think Mika will add further spice to the tale.
