Oh and this chapter ' ' means thoughts, but then sometimes I dont bother to put their thoughts in those, I think you'll be able to tell but I just wanted to give you the heads up.
Nyx slowly opened her eyes to take in her surrondings. She immediately recognized her room. "So Kali, yu finally wake up, I guess Jorge hit yu harder then I intended him to, that or yur weaker then I thought" Nyx groaned, she really disliked that voice, the one of her jailer. She breifly wondered why he was in her room, he never came here. Then it hit her, the song Arata, him pushing her, and her wings coming out. Suddenly she felt her insides grow cold, Boss had come across the room and now stood in front of her, with a strange glint in his eye. "Now, yu never mentioned yu weren'ta human darlin', now why would that be?" She decided that she should not answer that question, but her damn mouth could never not run when she needed it to and "I should think it would be obvious, unless you really are as dumb as you look" The remark earned her a slap across the face and she was seized from behind. (She had gotten up when she replied) She struggled for a breif few seconds before realizing it was furtile when she was so obviously outnumbered. Boss had a menacing look in his eye, and she spit in his face. "Now Kali, I did my homework and it seems yur the only known being of the volitant Siren Demons, and if I read that pile of bent bobby pins right, yu were planin' on escapin'. Nyx swallowed, and for once was able to keep quiet. Boss leaned in closer "Now we came up here to make sure that never happens" She felt her blood run cold as he went on "Now when ma boyz first brought yu here, I thought yu waz little more then a human, gifted with a voice, but I gave yu a spirit shackle just in case. Seems I was right to do so, but I also gave yu this nice room wit that there yonder window. Knowing now that yu can fly, I'm afraid I'ma gonna haveta clip yur wings" Nyx knew what blood she had in her face drained out at that comment, and her only reply was a whispered "Never"
"Now darlin', I thought yu might not cooperate and get yur wings out, so I brought out a little barginin' chip." He montioned towards the other side of the room and two demons came into the light, dragging an unconscious Mika between them. Nyx looked at Boss in a cold fury, "What did you do to her!" He gave a small chuckle "Nottin'...yet. Now you put them wings out or yur friend here, well lets just say she won't be struttin her stuff for a long time, if ever again" Nyx resigned herself, this was why she hated getting close to people, they always ended up getting hurt. She gave a sigh and tears slid down her cheeks as she brought her wings to view. She heard a collective gasp from everyone present (that was awake). The two demons on either side of her held her tight as Boss took out some small shears and clipped her primary flight feathers.
When he was done he signalled the two demons holding Nyx to let go and the ones dragging Mika to drop her and leave. When they were all gone Boss looked down at her form, curled in a ball rocking herself gently. "Yu'll never escape, yur mine forever and are gonna make me richer thena king, let today be a lesson to yu." And with that he left. Nyx felt herself slowly slipping into sleep and she welcomed it gratefully.
>Meanwhile With the YYH<
Kuwabara and Yusuke had been arguing over who would find you first. Kurama had been walking in silence while Hiei was flitting through the trees, barely seen by his champions who knew he was there. They had been searching in this forest for two days now and still had not found anything. Any demons they chanced upon were scared away, not wanting to mess with them after seeing what happened in the Dark Tournament. Dusk quickly fell and the group decided to stop for the night. Kurama set up some wood while Yusuke and Kuwabara fought over who would start the fire. They were quickly silenced when Hiei, without warning, sent a fireball at the stack of wood, blackening both their faces. Kuwabara immediatly jumped up and challenged Hiei to a fight. "Hn" was all he said before he jumped up in a tree. "Shut up baka or we'll never sleep" Yusuke tried to say before a yawn escaped his mouth. "Hn I don't need sleep unlike you weak humans" came the retort from the tree. It fell on deaf ears as his insultees were already fast asleep, Kuwabara snoring loud enough to wake the dead. Kurama sighed and layed back against the tree. "Have you sensed anything at all yet?" Kurama softly called out into the night. His question was met by silence for the longest time he thought Hiei might not answer but then "Sometimes I can sense strong emotions but before I can even tell which direction they are coming from, they fade away into nothing." "Oh well, maybe well have better luck tomorrow, try to get some sleep" Whether Hiei replied or not, Kurama never knew, he was already asleep. For a few minutes Hiei stared up at the night sky, but then began to feel an odd sensation around his eyes, and before he could blink, sleep had claimed him.
<Back with Nyx in the dream>
Nyx walked through woods, in what appeared to be dusk. An unnatural silvery-grey light lit the area (Think the woods in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre-new one-which I also do not own). At last she came upon a small clearing, in which the middle stood a small pond. She slowely approached the edge and sat down on a large walk. The water was clear, and it was almost hard to tell it was there at all. She leaned further over the rock and looked into the pool. what she saw there sent her immediatly off into the far corners of her mind, seeing past events that she thought she had put behind her reply in her head. She tried to stop, to wake up, but nothing worked. She felt a sharp pinch of pain and before she could stop herself, her wings came out of her shoulder blades. She couldn't bring herself to put them back in, and decided that since this was a dream there was no harm in it (they are still clipped, b/c it happened to her in real life so in her mind she is crippled, so she is in her dream). Her memories still raced around her head, like she was in the center of some twisted wheel, watching everything spin by so fast, she only caught glimpses. That stupid carnival music was playing through her head as well (This happens to me all the time, damn those clowns and their love of pipes) She finaly gave up trying to get off the wheel in her mind and just sat there, looking up at the moon, with tears sliding down her cheeks.
<With Hiei> (Guess where he is in HIS dream, I'll give you a hint, it rhymes with sticks)
He walked through the trees, his mind wandering. 'Where the hell am I' He started when he suddenly heard a sound off to his left. He strained his ears and heard it again, this time a little louder. Deciding he had nothing to lose he followed the sound until he came to a small clearing. In the middle of it stood a pond with impossibly clear water. What caught his attention was the figure on the rock next to the water. Her dark wings hunched around her figure, hiding most of her body from view. She sniffled and looked up, dark eyes catching him. His breathe caught his throat. He had never seen anything like her. Her long curly hair reached just to her waist, and shone slightly purple in the light from the moon. Her skin seemed to glow, kind of like sand (the brown kind) when the moonlight hit it. She was slight in build. She looked as if she would be an inch shorter then him, if not more. But what caught his attention most were her eyes. They were large and black, framed by thick long dark lashes. They held intense sadness in them and the tears running down her face were proof of that. He stared at her tears. They shone a light silver with a hint of the violet in them. That was odd, he'd heard of tear gems, but never purple tears. He decided that she couldn't be human. She looked just as shocked to see him as he was to see her. He blinked and when he opened his eyes, her wings were gone. He wondered briefly if he had imagined them, then decided he didn't. She then called out in a shakey voice "Who are you?'
<Nyx's P.O.V>
I stared across the clearing at the boy that had just walked out of the trees. He looked to be an inch or two taller then me. I couldn't really tell in the dim light, and the fact that he was dressed all in black, but he looked lean and fit. He had dark hair that was shaped like a flame that stood straight up from his head. There was a touch of white in his hair just over his forhead. He was wearing a white bandanna over his eyes. I stared at his eyes, they were a deep red, like the color of glowing embers. He was just standing there staring at me so I called "Who are you?" By the looks of him, he didn't seem the type to just hand over information, and my intincts were proved right when he answered with a "Who are you?" I sighed and called out "Nyx"
"Hn, Hiei"
"How did you get here?"
<Hiei's P.O.V.>
"I was sitting in a tree, then I fell asleep and then I was in this forest, I heard the sound of someone's....," I was about to say weakness but something held me back, "now I'm here, I can only assume I'm dreaming."
"Why are you here, in my dream?"
"I have no idea, nor do I want to be hear onna."
She looked down at the pool at the last comment "I can't say that I blame you" She whispered softly. Silence was between us for long moments. 'I don't get what is with this onna, she seems...depressed. But why do I care? Something about her seems very familiar, But I know I have never seen her before....' I was brought back to reality when she stood and stretched. "Where are you going onna?" She looked up, surprised to find me still there. "I can't stay here forever and I have to find a way....I have stuff that I need to do back with my body"
"Oh no, your not going anywhere until I get some answers. Did you have wings when I first walked into this clearing? And what are you?"
<Nyx's P.O.V.>
I gulped, I had no idea how to answer these questions. My intuition was screaming at me that he was more then a figment of my imagination and I should proceed with caution. But there was something else about him too, there was an emotion hidden deep in his eyes he tried to keep them cold that mirrored my own, it was pain. I sensed that he would only try to help me, but I was ashamed of my clipped wings. Fresh tears rolled down my cheeks at the rememberance of what Boss had done to them. He was growing impatient, and starting to get antsy. I decided to just stay silent, then I wouldn't have to lie or admit my secret. "Well onna are you going to answer me or not" My only response was a shake of my head. He took a few steps toward me and I took a few back. "I'm not going to hurt you, so just relax, we're here for a reason and I want to find out what it is" I just looked at him, trying not to appear too curious. "I'm sorry, I can't help you, I must get back, I'm not sure what they will do while I'm not guarding myself and I must get ready for tonite." Suddenly I felt a stronge energy come from him, I looked at him sharply and discovered his headband was slightly glowing. My heart clenched in sudden fear, 'Oh no, not another one that wants to get me' I thought. Seeing that no better plans came into my head, I turned and ran off into the woods. I heard Hiei swear behind me and I increased my speed. I could hear him chasing me and by the sound of it he was fast, I could tell he would catch me in moments. I only hoped I could wake up before then.
<Hiei's P.O.V.>
That damn onna took off, before answering any of my questions. That and my Jagan didn't work, and that in itself shook me. I doubt it had anything to do with that Nyx demon, it felt more of like it was this place that kept me from reading her mind. 'What the hell is going on' ran through my head before I swore and I took off after her, she was fast but no where near as fast as me. I knew she was more then just a figment of my imagination, this whole place was too real. I jumped down from the trees and began running after her on foot, but then the clumsy onna tripped and I ran into her before I could stop. When we finally stopped rolling I had landed on top of her, face to face. I stared down at her for a few moments, the strange light illuminatinog her eyes. It was then I realized that they were not black as I had previously thought, but a deep violet. 'So that's where the violet in her tears came from, how did they turn color?' She stared back at me and before I could say anything, she was gone, and I could only assume she had woken up, wherever her body was. I sighed and sat up. I could already feel myself slipping away back to my body. In seconds I was gone, away from this dream world back to my own.
<With the YYH> (Still Hiei's P.O.V.)
I woke up and blinked. I did not even remember falling asleep. The last thing I remember was looking up at the sky and then feeling an odd sensation behind my eyes. I growled, I knew I had a dream, just not what it was. I vaguely remember it being in the woods, and a girl there, but the details became hazy. One thing stood out in my mind however, I remember her eyes, they showed intense saddness, that mirrored my own. I shrugged it off and turned toward the group. Kurama was up and making breakfast, the detective gathering some more firewood, and the baka still asleep. Suddenly I got a clear flare of something in my mind. I focused on it and it didn't fade like the others. Somehow I knew this is what we had been looking for. I jumped down from my tree and telepathically told Kurama that I felt an energy. Quickly we put out our fire, woke the baka, cleaned up camp, and set out. Something inside of me became impatient of their slow pace and I couldn't figure out why. Why was I so eager to find that energy? It did seem familiar, but it slipped through my mind like the trail the day before. I pondered this as we got closer to the source. I forced myself to remain calm and told myself we would get there when we did. This did little to make me forget my anxiousness, but I refused to show emotions in front of the humans. So I settled for keeping pace with them as I lead the way.
<Kurama's P.O.V.>
'Ever since I woke up I noticed something strange, Hiei was asleep, if that wasn't odd enough he seemed to be trying to use his Jagan in his sleep.' I kept my questions to myself long after we started off. This morning Hiei somehow knew exactly which direction to go, and seemed impatient to get there. I decided I had waited long enough to ask him so I caught up. "Did you sleep well Hiei?" He looked up at me sharply, like he didn't realize I was there and just replyed with a "Hn"
"How is it you know where we're going today?" For the longest time he was silent, and I thought he wasn't going to answer but then.
"Last night, something made me fall asleep and I had a strange dream, I don't remember what happened in it, but when I woke up, somehow I knew which way to go"
"What was your dream about, maybe that will help solve the mystery"
He got a far off look in his eyes before he replied, "I don't remember much but I do remember her eyes, they were really sad eyes..." He trailed off and I smiled slightly, figures when Hiei finally becomes attracted to a girl, it was one he met in a dream. He looked as if he was suddenly jarred from his dazed state and glared up at me. "Don't breathe a word of this to anyone, or I will kill you fox" I just grinned and held up my hands in defense. "I know nothing" and with that I walked back to try and break up Yusuke and Kuwabara's latest fight.
