Chapter 3
1. "Stupid rain..."
Botan lifted a hand to her forehead as she stepped out onto the patio porch of Yusuke's home. She then began her journey to the park where Koenma had promised to have a portal. After Hiei had disappeared all had agreed to leave and meet up tomorrow morning to learn more about Arya. Yukina and Kurama were to stay at Yusuke's. She sighed once again as she slumped against a light pole. The emerald green eyes taking over her mind once again.
"Kurama..."
The name slipped from her mouth like sweet honey. Why...oh why....
"Botan?"
Botan lifted her head to the sound of a voice. Of course! Fate was so cruel.
"Kurama?! Hey. What are you doing here? I thought you were going to bed?"
Botan took Kurama's outstretched hand and he pulled her close to him under the cover of the purple umbrella he had brought. Kurama snaked his hand around her waist and smiled down at her as she blushed.
They then started walking, by Kurama's insistence, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Which in their eyes, it was.
Botan closed her eyes as she pressed her hands against Kurama's chest as they continued walking. He had chosen to ignore her question and not a word had been spoken between either of them. She knew why he had come. And still she couldn't stop the question.
"Why are you here?" She asked, looking up at him with pleading eyes.
Kurama's smirk finally vanished.
"I'm just helping you to the portal. Wouldn't want you catching a -"
"No. Why are you here?"
Tears flooded Botan's eyes suddenly as grief gripped her heart, and she collapsed into his chest.
"You know.... if he finds out...he'll.."
"Shhhh"
Botan hushed up as Kurama's hands encircled her back, gently calming her.
"We can't do this"
Botan looked hopefully up at Kurama. He needed to get the message... he needed to...
Only a smirk formed on his lips. He gently placed the smirk on her forehead as he murmured the words.
"He'll never know"
A sudden rage gripped at Botan. With all her might, she pushed Kurama away. Physically, maybe, but not from her heart.
"I am not a toy! Stop treating me like one! Please..."
Botan collapsed to her knees.
Kurama watched the girl helplessly. He dropped to his knees beside her, keeping his distance.
"What... What is he doing to you?" The question came out as a whisper from Kurama. IF there was one thing he had ever wished for... it would be to see that tears would never fall from Botan's face again...
Botan sniffled and looked up at Kurama. "Please stop playing these games..."
Botan stood up suddenly and snapped her fingers, her oar appearing in her hands.
Kurama watched as she flew into the rain and to the park to meet Koenma.
The long forgotten umbrella blew past Kurama as he clenched his fist in anger and then relaxed them in regret.
Only when you stop playing games with my heart...

Yukina oddly found herself unable to sleep that night. And she was pretty sure it wasn't the lightning that was going on outside. She found herself bothered by her friends problems... and mostly hers.
She was concerned for Botan. She knew what was going on when she had found Botan on the edge of a emotional breakdown one day when she went to go visit Koenma. Botan had readily confessed what had been going on. Koenma had taken her as his wife and mate, but Kurama had taken her heart.
Yukina shook her head. It wasn't right. But what could she do? Nothing.
Yukina slipped the covers of the bed over her feet and slipped out of bed, She padded over to the window and rested her forehead on it.
And Arya? This girl... was familiar. She was an Ice Apparition. Yukina had felt it the moment she had healed herself. But it was faint... almost as if the Icy bloody barley flooded in her veins. Like she was half.
Yukina furrowed her brow in confusion. No... that couldn't be right.
She sighed and closed her eyes. What was it Hiei had said?
"....and skills of an Ice Apparition… Yukina you can feel it also, can you not?”
Yukina snapped her eyes open. All Ice Apparition's could feel each others presence even if that had just a drop of blood in them. For Hiei to be able to feel her presence he would also need that blood to flow in his veins... but that would mean....
Yukina shook her head. That completely wasn't possible. Nope. She was losing her mind. Yep. But...
As Yukina thought about it, the clearer it became. He might be able to hide his presence from her with his Jagan....
"OH.. I need to sleep..."
Yukina shook her head, clearing it of all her troubles as she slipped into bed.
Red eyes rested in her head for the rest of the night.

The next morning....
"Arya?"
Yusuke ruffled the back of his hair as he walked into the kitchen to an odd sight.
Arya stood there in a light yellow tank with baby blue overalls over the shirt. She had a cooking pan in one hand and seemed to be stirring something.
"OH! Good morning Yusuke, just thought I'd find a way to repay you for allowing me to stay here... until I am able to find a house that is... so I thought I'd make breakfast, if that's alright with you?"
Yusuke shook his head. "No that's fine but um... something burning?" Yusuke pointed to the black smoke pouring from the pan and oven.
"AH! The bacon!... AH! The pancakes!" Arya hurried around the kitchen trying to save what food she could.
Yusuke could only stare.
"What in blazes is going on?" A sleepy Kurama asked as he stood next to Yusuke.
A smile broke out on Yusuke's face. "Ah don't worry about it. Arya tried to make breakfast... but it seems you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Last time Arya tried to make toast, she burnt it while she was buttering it."
He then ran over to shove Arya down in a chair who was nursing a burnt hand.
Kurama sighed. "Guess I'm making breakfast then..."
He then started to work.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"OH Kurama, that smells delicious! Where did you learn to cook? Can you teach me?" Arya's eyes were the size of the pancakes that were now on her plate.
Kurama chuckled as he served Yusuke. "I learned from my mother and from what Yusuke had told me... you are un-teachable in the art of cooking."
Arya laughed and took a bite of then pancake. "AH! It's even better then it smells!" She then began to promptly shove them down her throat.
Yusuke and Kurama exchanged glances but Yusuke waved it off. "Don't worry... she had a mood swing every 5 minutes. I'm used to it"
Kurama nodded and then sat down to eat his own breakfast.
"What the hell is going on?"
"Well a good flippin morning to you to, Hiei"
Arya threw a piece of her pancake at Yusuke and stood up.
"Ow! Arya what was that for?!"
Arya ignored Yusuke and continued to walk over to Hiei, who watched her with calm weary eyes.
"Mornin Hiei. Here you must try some. Kurama is absolutely the best cook"
Kurama and Yusuke watched on in amazement as Arya held out a piece of pancake she had ripped from her own, and held it up to Hiei's mouth who still watched her, their eyes never leaving each other.
She is sooo dead...
The same exact thought ran through each of the boys heads as they watched on.
Arya smiled and held the piece of food closer to Hiei's mouth. Slowly, but surely, Hiei opened his mouth and Arya gently placed the piece of pancake on to his tongue. Hiei then closed his mouth and began chewing, Arya beaming all the way.
"See?" Arya smiled and bounced back over to her seat, and began eating once again.
Kurama's and Yusuke's mouths had dropped to the floor, and looked like they weren't moving for awhile.
Hiei scowled at the two boys suddenly and headed out the way he had entered.
Yusuke rounded on Arya, his eyes popping out of his head. There was no way that girl was still alive.
"How did...Why...Your still ALIVE!?!?!"
The shock that sounded in Yusuke's voice was nothing compared to Kurama's.
Arya looked at Yusuke, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Should I be dead?"
"YEA! No one has gotten that close to Hiei, and lived! I mean if you even knew Hiei like we do you would have-"
Yusuke was promptly cut off as Arya stood up, her chair screeching against the floor and her hands slamming down on the table.
"I know him allot better then you think Yusuke!" And with that said, she promptly turned on her heel, and headed out the same way Hiei had.
Yusuke stared after her until his eyes met Kurama's.
"I think there is more here then meets the eye...."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Hiei?" Arya brushed aside a branch that had been blocking her path to Hiei. After she had exploded on Yusuke, she had followed Hiei outside to where he now sat at the edge of a small pond.
Hiei looked over his shoulder at the smiling onna. He was confused. Why did this girl know so much about him? Why did he interest her? And more then that why did she interest him?
"Hn. Why are you here onna?" Hiei muttered out as he turned back to watch the water.
Arya took a seat a couple feet away from Hiei and proceeded to take off her shoes and dip them in the water next to Hiei. "Dunno. Guess I just wanted to make sure you were OK"
Hiei was startled by her answer. She was concerned about him? But why?
"And just what would I not be OK with?" He now faced the mysterious girl. A small smirk lit up her face as her blue bangs fell lazily over her eyes. He knew nothing about this girl, but felt as if he had been waiting all his life for her. He had just met her the other day and she was already affecting him... in a good or bad way? He wasn't sure. Her demeanor was innocent, still, he knew he had felt her energy spike after he had left. The energy spike had been high and evil. The same aura he had senced from her the other night. Darkness.
Arya shrugged and turned her face so that Hiei could see all of her features. "Eh... I guess with me? Ya know... I would be confused if I were you. Meeting a girl for the first time and finding out she knows a lot more about you then most of your friends... kinda scary I guess..."
She then drew her feet out of the water and pulled them up to her chest and buried her face between her knees. In all honesty, Arya was scared to. She knew she would find Hiei one day and her feelings would be strong... but she never ever imagined they could be... like this.
Hiei narrowed his eyes at the girl. "Since we seem to be on that topic, wanna tell me how you do know so much about me? And what the heck happened back in the kitchen?"
Arya smirked and jumped up. "Like I said last night, your first question is for another time. When I may speak to both you and your sister... and another must be present..." At this she seemed to trail off and go off into deep thought. Hiei raised an eyebrow as he felt her energy spike and the same aura filled his senses. But as quickly as it had come, it was gone. Arya smiled down at him and noticed for the first time, that she was smaller then him. By almost 2 inches.
"As for your second question, I'll happily answer." She then stopped and smiled like a maniac... it made Hiei wonder what was up with the mood swings.
"Well..."
"Another time of course." A small giggle filled the air around Hiei and he glared.
"Onna, you will tell me now or I promise you death will come swiftly." Hiei stood up and stared down at Arya. Her eyes seemed to soften with happiness as he did.
"I wish I could tell you... but it's to soon. Things need to take place before I can." Arya smiled slightly.
Hiei looked down at her with confusion. Why aren't you killing this girl? She is nothing but a headache? The thought crossed his mind, but for some reason, her could not even picture ever hurting this onna. Ever.
"What are you doing to me?" The words were whispered through Hiei's lips, but to him it seemed as if he had screamed him.
Arya's smile enlarged. "I know... your confused. It will all make sense soon. I promise. Just.... go with the flow for now ok?"
Hiei could not reply. He could not sort out the thoughts in his head. He had just met this girl the other day, never once heard of her before that, and now look at him. He couldn't even hurt the girl.
Arya suddenly grabbed his wrist and started tugging him towards the forest. "Come with me. The others are getting worried."
At these words, all sense seemed to return to Hiei. In a matter of a second, Arya was pinned to a tree underneath Hiei's blade. "Baka Onna. Tell. ME. What. IS. Going. ON!"
Arya's eyes suddenly snapped open and for the first time, Hiei could sense fear coming form the girl.
"I...I can't!" Arya lifted her hand up and tried to push the blade that was biting into her neck away, but found that she couldn't.
"Let me make this clear, onna. Stay out of my sight until you are able to or I will make sure there is nothing left of your body to give you a proper burial. IS that understood?" Hiei's eyes were now glowing a faint red.
"Crystal"
Hiei gave one more warning glare be fore he sheathed his blade and jumped into the nearest tree, nothing but a black blur.
He never saw the satisfied smirk on Arya's face.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Th ey left" Yusuke answered Yukina's question when she asked where Hiei and Arya where.
Confusion was plain across Yukina's face. "Left? I don't understand."
Kurama shrugged. "Hiei left and then Arya left after him. Haven't seen them since breakfast."
Kurama ran a hand through his hair. He had no idea what had transpired between the new girl and Hiei, but he could guess it wasn't good.
"Where could they have-"
"Hey all! Gooooood MORNING!"
Yukina was cut off as Botan suddenly appeared in the middle of Yusuke's kitchen where the trio was now standing.
"UGH! Botan! To much cheeriness!"
Botan shrugged. "Sorry. Well... not really. Anyways, morning Yukina, Kurama. Where's Arya?"
"Good morning Bogan-chan. I was curious about the whereabouts of Arya also and Kurama has just informed me that apparently Arya and Hiei left early this morning and haven't returned since." Yukina said as she sat in the chair next to Kurama.
Bogan leaned against the counter and out a finger to her chin. "Well now... that just ain't right. Koenma-san wanted to speak to Arya. He was interested in her healing abilities."
Kurama looked up at Botan, who ignored his eyes. "Why would he be interested in her abilities? I thought you were training to be a healer along with Yukina?"
Botan lowered her gaze to the floor. "Well um... due to certain conditions... Koenma thought that wouldn't be the best for me and wants a new healer."
"Oh" Kurama said softly as he studied Bogan. He couldn’t help but wonder if those new conditions would be them planning their wedding.
"Hey Bogan, Yukina"
The gang looked up as Arya walked in through the kitchen walkway. A completely different mood then this morning.
"Arya! Where have you been? Look I just wanted to say I"m sorry-"
Yusuke stopped mid apology as Arya held up her hand. "No need. I was being a bitch. Mood swings, ya know?" Everyone laughed until finally Bogan spoke up.
"Well Arya, I"m glad we found you. Koenma would like to see you if possible today"
Arya smirked. "Lead the way"
Yusuke rolled his eyes. "Gods, that means I have to wake up Kayko... if haven't seen bitch till you've..."
The rest of Yusuke's sentence trailed off as his eyes caught the sight of a very angry and pissed Kayko standing in the doorway.
"Heh"
"YUSUKE!"
Kurama rolled his eyes and he lead the three girls out of the kitchen. "I'll go get Hiei, you three wait here."
Botan watched as Kurama disappeared out the door.
"So... do you know about Koenma-san" Botan's eyes trailed off the door and to the all smiles Arya. The all smiles dropped as Botan asked that question and Botan could not ignore the fire that spread through out Arya's eyes.
"You could say that"
The tone of voice made Botan and Yukina look at each other, and gulp.
