Chapter One: Star....Run!

 

"Star! Star!" called a young kit about the age of five.

"What? Kioshi" Star asked turning around to face her younger brother.

"Sis....Why does Kaasan and Otou-san stress that we are not allow in the forest just south of the den?" Kioshi asked in a quiet voice.

The only time Kioshi actually spoke up was when he wanted to get his older sister's attention. Surprisingly Kioshi looks exactly like Star and their mother, Aurora. They all had pure white hair, tails, and ears. Star and Aurora had pink eyes outlined in silver while Kioshi on the otherhand had blue gray eyes like his father.

"That forest belongs to the king of thieves, Youko Kurama. Kaasan told me that our older brother, Dakota, wandered into those woods. Youko and his partner Kuronue weren't too happy about it. Kaasan and Otou had to fight them to save Dakota those they weren't defeated. After fighting for an hour Youko just growled and threatened if they or any of their pups wandered into their territory that they would probably never see that child again," Star explained but Kioshi could tell that she didn't fear them and it was most likely that she ran into them once before.

"Are they really that bad?" Kioshi asked quietly when Star hugged him.

"I don't know...never met them," Star smiled before smoothly changing the subject, "Now, weren't you with Dakota?"

Kioshi nodded his head and Star smirked, "You ran off on him again didn't you?" Kioshi just lowered his ears and Star sighed putting a hand behind her head as she ordering, "He isn't going to be to happy about that...You know you are going to get in trouble as well as you get Dakota in trouble. Go find him imediately before he goes and asks Kaasan and Otou if they seen you."

"Yes Sis," Kioshi sighed before running off to find Dakota.

Star sighed shaking her head in slight fustration as she made her way out of the busy village. It was getting close to dark and some of the male kitsunes were heading out for to train the male kits. Kioshi had another year before he would learn the more advance fighting techinques that the group taughted. Their outings trained many warriors. Girls didn't have to go through that but what the guys didn't relize is that some the of females were better fighters than all of them together. Aurora and Star were just a few of them. Star looked but into the sky and saw a shooting star once again. It was here, out in the woods, under the night sky that she got her name. When Star was born she didn't cry like most, her eyes weren't on her mother or father but on the night sky and at that particually moment a shooting star shot by and she just waved her hands and laugh. That is how Aurora came to choose her daughter's name.

The moonlight lit up the lush green forest as she turned onto one of her favorite paths that led up to the boundaries of Youko's forest. The only thing that seperated the two areas was a clearing that they came to agree was the dead zone neither side claimed. It was a murtal understandment that any demon could pass through there as long as they didn't enter either forest but it was called the dead zone for another reason. Seeing that it was a clearing there was no cover to escape attacks from the higher S class demons who sometimes enter the area.

Star sighed contently but then the scent of blood appeared in the air. Some demons attacked the males and the kits and Star didn't even have to guess that they were headed towards her village.

She took off at tops speed knowing that she was capiable of reaching town in a matter of seconds. When she arrived at her den she found Aurora and Dakota standing protectively in front of Kioshi who was bleeding badly from his right injuried shoulded. Aurora and Dakota were also panting and had serval deep gashes with blood pooring freely from them. Star did the first thing that entered her mind she jumped in front of them positioning herself between her family and the emeny. She didn't even have to turn around to notice that Aurora ran over to try and save Kioshi. The surrounding forest had fallen giving her a clear look at how many youkai their actually were. Star didn't have time to count because a bat youkai attacked her. She side stepped easily and drew a her sword slashing him in two. She then relized that it was the nearby bat demon tribe that they were constantly at war with. It was also at that second when the scent of her father's freshly spilled blood enter the air with the scent of death. Her father had been killed and the man who now approached. Star guessed that he was the leader for he was cover in her father's blood. Because of his arrival and the death of Kioshi that Aurora stepped in front of her as well as her older brother. Star knew that it was going to be them if anybody who would revenge Yukio's death as well as Kioshi's.

"Kioshi....." Star whispered as she looked back at his battered and torned body while she steathed her sword. Tears pured freely at the lost of her father and younger brother. Star knew that this wasn't the time to mourn she had a fight to win. Turning her back on her younger brother she faced the bat demons. Five of the bat demons were ranked as A class demons turned to face her. They surrounded her cutting off the option to fled.

"I shall kill you all in revenge for killing my family," Star growled evily.

"I don't think so fox. We have you corner there is no way you can escape," The one directly in front of her growled while the three behind her attacked.

'Cowards,' Star thought as she dodge each of demons. She once again drew out her sword and sliced four of them in haft. From the corner of her eye she saw the last of her family fall but not in vain Aurora and her brother took the leader down with them.

"No!!" Star screamed as they fell to the ground turning her back on the ememy which was a mistake for the remaining bat demon drew his sword and slashed her across the back hopeing that he would be able to slice her in two but she relized it at last minute and ducked just sparing her life. Seeing that she was on the ground she spun arounded and knocked him to the ground as she shoved the sword into his heart killing him instantly. Star then noticed that there were about twenty more bat demons on their way over here and she was in no condition to fight them ran into the den grabbed a few bandaids and fled south heading towards Youko Kurama's territory. She knew she would probably have to fight them but she rather fight two demons instead of twenty. She fled at top speed entering the woods before the bats even knew that she ever was there through she did leave a blood trail which they followed to the dead zone before turning around confident that Youko Kurama would kill her.

Panting heavily Star found a open spot by a river that she could see all around her. Taking note that Youko's forest was amazing. Plants of all kinds grew here many rare and highly demonic plants. She stepped into the river with her clothes still on removing the blood from them. Star noted that the wound on her back had already stoped bleeding because it wasn't that deep. The gash on her lower right leg was worse so she imediately tended to that as soon as she headed back to shore. To her surprise her dark blue flares were never cut. Mentally she thanked herself for wearing her baby blue tie behind the neck top showed her back and her midrift because her clothes weren't torned. Star was bare foot and had many rare jewels in her pockets which she stolen from passing through demons. Once she finished bandaging up her leg stood up as looked around she noticed that she was being watched and imediately knew it was Youko Kurama and Kuronue.

"You can come out," She growled looking in the tree behind where they were hiding.

"So...this is the female that those other bat demons wanted me to kill," Kuronue smirked as he and Youko jumped down from the tree and walk across the grass up to her. Star's hand imediately grabbed the hilt of her sword.

"Now, Now, that isn't wise," Youko purred as the reach her there was about three feet between her and the thieves, "Why don't you take your hand off your sword and tell us who you are exactly."

Star did take her hand off the sword after she noted that it was only the bat demon Kuronue who looked like he was about to attack. "My name is Star but you might want to tell your friend to back down because I have a need of revenge on bat demons."

"Your the daughter of Aurora and Yukio. We had trouble with them and the pup before," Kuronue growled hating the fact that she even dare to think that she could kill him.

"Kuronue, let it go. Besides it is apperant that their dead so we will have no trouble with them," Youko smirked Kuronue hated that family for stealing his pericous katana that Star happens to be carrying.

"Tell her to hand over the katana first," Kuronue growled but relaxed.

"So, they stole this sword from you Kuronue," Star said playfully.

They guys imediately could tell that she didn't fear them.

*Star's point of view*

'What do they want with me?? I can tell that Youko isn't about to attack...That is the exact opposite of what my parents told me...They said that he would kill as soon as some one stepped into his territory without permission,' I thought slightly confused.

"Well....what do you think Kuronue should we kil her or let her live??" Youko asked but I noticed that he already had his mind made I just feared that he didn't wish to kill me.

"I don't know," Kuronue replied thoughtfully it was apparent that he loved the idea of torturing me, "Youko it is up to you because I would only let her live if she handed over the sword."

"I think that we will......"
