Chapter 3

The next day, after a good night's rest in a tree far, far away from Yoko's tent. Rei was up and ready for action. Getting up, she realized that almost half of the group was still fast asleep after last night's raid. She decided to go into the forest to practice for the competition Yoko practically forced her into. Although she had already seen the ending, what's the harm of getting some free time... The competition was only 2 weeks away...

' Gosh the security is sure tight... ' thought Rei as she walked around in the campsite

When she reached the Yoko's tent, she could hear the same groans... ' Disgusting ' was all that Rei could think about

' Baka Kitsune... ' thought Rei as she leapt off into the forest to explore

1 hour later... Rei was pissed off so badly... She had been ambushed 21 times by C and B demons and an occasional A or S demon.

' Damn friggin C to S class demons, don't they have anything better to do... ' cursed the oracle

So far she had only suffered small cuts to her face, arms and legs which was nothing serious for her to heal herself. When she finally decided to turn back and got back to the camp, she was looking rather messed up but still had the cloak on and the mask. That's when Kuronue approached her looking worried.

" Where in SEVEN HELLS OF MAKAI have you been?! " yelled Kuronue

She simply replied " Exploring... "

" EXPLORING MY A$$, you were gone for 2 FRIGGIN HOURS!!! " roared Kuronue

" Tsk, Yomi was right, you do have anger issues... " said Rei calmly

" Don't change the subject, where have you been? " asked Kuronue, this time more patiently

" I was out in the forest exploring... and I was ambushed 31 friggin times so you bet I'm pissed so don't get on my bad side now if you know what is good!! "

That's when Kuronue went silent which triggered Rei to get in the nearest tree to heal. However, Yoko knew the oracle was back in the camp and came to her.

" Ruyu, where on earth have you been? " he asked in a very intimidating voice

" Asked the bat... " she simply replied not caring about the intimidating tone

That's when one of Yoko's vines tried to grab her but instead it withered and died with Rei glaring at Yoko with a I-DARE-YOU-TO-TRY look. Then she leapt into the one of the trees.

" What's up with him... " asked Yoko trying to ignore the glare just now

" He said he went exploring, got ambushed 31 friggin times and now he is really pissed " explained Kuronue

" I see... "

" So Yoko what are we going to do with him? "

" Just let him cool down first... then we shall see what happens "

2 weeks later, the whole glaring incident was either forgotten or the demons in Yoko's group were just too busy getting ready for the competition. Rei however was not happy but after much Kuronue's much persistent persuasion and bribery, she relented cursing every single vulgar word she knew. The first round was Rei verses a huge group of C class and below thieves. Since they were all lower members of Yomi's group, she had no trouble disarming all of them and knocking them out.

Next round was Kuronue's lower members which were also as easy as Yomi's, Yoko's group was a little more harder but Rei only suffered minior cuts and her cloak was torn and tattered alittle bit. When it came for her to fight the higher group members excluding Yoko, Kuronue and Yomi, Rei just allowed the higher members to fight among themselves reducing their numbers and finishing them off.

The seventh round had arrived and she was the last survivor and given a chance to fight the three leaders. Surprisingly, she was still full of energy and was more then ready to take on Yomi.

" I hope you are ready to lose oracle because you won't go any further... " mocked Yomi

Rei just shook her head silently which made Yomi charged in towards her. She dodged and said " My fight is not with you but only with Yoko... " That made Yoko's ears twitch excitedly as he heard what she said

After a few more dodging, Yomi was getting frustrated and Rei was always smirking at his futile efforts. Finaly after much effort he got her into an arm lock but she just twisted his arm and threw him out of the arena ending the fight.

" Nice match Yomi I hope to be able to spar with you again, you can improve tremendously, provided you prove yourself... " said Rei as she turned to Yomi who was rubbing his wrist tenderly offering her hand to help him up

Taking her hand gladly, Yomi smirked " Sure, it has been a long time since I found a worthy sparring partner... "

" Glad to hear that... "

The next match was with Kuronue and this time she was permitted to use weapons. Grabbing a dagger, she saw Kuronue flew down with his scythe.

" Hey Kuronue, how about we take this to the skies? " invited Rei

" You can fly? " asked Kuronue curiously

Suddenly a gust of strong wind picked her up and propelled her to the sky, shocking all the other demons especially Kuronue. Joining her in the sky, Kuronue started first throwing his scythe at her. She quickly took out her dagger and countered his scythe. Then she flew towards him and threw a punch full blast right in his gut, knocking him out. Gently, she touched his head and purple glow emitted from her hand. Then she lowered him to ground slowly, with everyone stunned.

The last and final match was between her and Yoko. Throwing a glance at the kitsune's direction, she could see Yoko smirking at her enthusiastically.

" Are you ready? " asked Yoko in a cold and clam voice

" Ready then I'll ever be... " she grinned

" You do remember our agreement don't you? " asked Yoko

" Tsk, shit, and I thought you would have forgotten about it... " said Rei mischievously

" Remember, you lose this, you lose the mask... "

" How about I make this more interesting... "

" Go on... "
" See if you can remove my mask yourself, if you do, I won't serve anyone else but you until the day you die... "

" That's a little bit grim but I accept, however what if you win? "

" I keep my mask and you don't ever try to unmask me ever again... "

" Agreed! "

Soon the match begin, Rei had limited herself to only the fire and earth element while Yoko had been trying to trip her or at least get rid of the mask. It was a tough match with either sides winning. Rei would always burn Yoko's plants which pissed the kitsune off. However, Yoko would always be able to dodge her kicks or punches.

Finally both were worn out from the repeated pattern of defending and attacking. Both had suffered small cuts and minior bruises. Suddenly Yoko summoned a man-eating plant and got it to distract Rei and then he ran towards her and delivered a punch to her stomach causing her to fly to the edge of the ring. Dazed by the sudden attack, Rei was looking a little bit like this *_*

She did not see Yoko was ready to remove the mask when suddenly her insitinct kicked in and she kicked him out of the arena but it was too late... Her mask had been removed and a huge gasp went through the arena. It was a draw! Yoko was standing outside of the ring grinning but stopped when he saw it was a girl he had lost against. Yomi and Kuronue who were also conscious, were equally shocked.

Rei on the other hand was not the least bit surprised, her hood had slipped off revealing her soft black wolf ears, her black shoulder-lenght hair tied to a small ponytail and her deep purple eyes full of amusement.

A/N: I am not a fan of cliffhangers so I apologize if I had to stop so abruptly :P But I assure you the next chapter is gonna be better!
