Stirring, Tory stretched and jumped slightly as she heared a grunt as her arm comes down on something. Rolling over, her nose collided with Kurama. “Sleep well?” he asked. Suddenly all of the last nights events come tumbling back down to her and she started to cry.
Slowly waking up, the first thing Keri was aware of was a pounding headache. Hearing her groan, Sano came over. “Are you okay Keri?”
“Headache.” she muttered. Leaving, Sano soon returned with a cup of water and two aspirins.
Handing both to Keri, he said, “Come on, we have to meet Kurama and Tory at the park.”
Still crying, Tory closed her eyes as Kurama futilely tried to comfort her. “Tory, we have to meet Sano and Tory at the park,” he said. “Come on, let's go.” Tory merely pulls the covers over her head and quiets. Pulling down the covers, Kurama found a sleeping Tory and smiled, tucking the covers around her chin. `I guess I'll go without her,' he thought. Rising, he left, closing the door behind him.
“It's too early!” Keri whined as Sano pulled her out of bed.
“Too early? It's almost lunch!” Sano said. Keri blinks then grabs Sano's hand and pulls him out the door.
“Why didn't you say so?” Keri scolded, pulling him along to the park. Seeing them coming, Kurama began formulating the best way to tell Keri of Tory's…mood this morning. “Hi Kurama,” Keri mumbles and perks up slightly. “Where's Tory?”
“She didn't come,” Kurama said.
“And why not?” Keri questioned.
“Well, she woke up after hitting me in the head and I asked her how she slept and she started crying. I tried to calm her down but she wouldn't allow it,” Kurama explained. “Eventually, to my dismay, she cried herself to sleep. I didn't want to wake her so I left her home.”
“Fine, I'm going to go get her,” Keri says, walking towards Tory's house.
“Keri, I took her to my house,” Kurama said, making Keri quickly change directions and shoot a dirty look at him. “It would seem that my wife's best friend has a small dislike for me. Or perhaps it's just towards being wrong.” he thought to himself with a chuckle.
~Keri, are you there?~ Tory asked, crying in her sleep.
“What? Tory?” Keri said, getting weird looks from the guys.
~Is everyone okay?~ Tory asked, sniffling.
~Yeah, they're fine,~ Keri responds. ~They're right here next to me.~
~Let me talk to Kurama.~ Tory demands, still sleeping.
~How?~
~I want to talk to Kurama!~
Blinking in surprise, Keri reached out and touched Kurama on the arm. ~Try talking to him now.~
~Kurama?~
Eyes widening in surprise, Kurama responded. ~Tory? Is that you?~
~Yeah, it's me.~ Tory said, sniffling.
~What's wrong?~ Kurama asked.
Tory's crying gets louder, giving Keri a headache. ~I DON'T KNOW!!~
~We'll be right there.~ Kurama said, grabbing Keri's and Sano's arm, dragging them as he ran towards his house.
At the house, Tory woke up and decided to meet the rest of the group in the park, completely oblivious of the fact she had a telepathic conversation in her sleep. Taking the more scenic back route, she headed off.
Running into his house, Kurama quickly went back to the bedroom. When it was found empty, Kurama started searching all over the house for him. “She probably just went to find us. Let's look for her,” Keri suggested. Nodding his agreement, they left the house. Meanwhile, Tory started looking for them, after not finding them at the park. Wandering over to the lake, she looked out over it. Suddenly she's blinded by a flashing light.
“Hey you there, stop what you're doing. You're under arrest!” A voice yells at her from behind the light. In pure fear her hands slide into the air.
“Hey look!” Sano points down the street to where flashing lights could be seen. “Let's go see what's going on.” Reluctantly agreeing, Kurama and Keri head down the street to investigate.
Tory gets pushed into a car by the officer. On the side of the car is written, `Only the best services for the spirit world's worst criminals.' Sinking low in the seat, Tory looks over at the officer. “Um sir? Why am I being arrested?”
The officer, a mean looking man, glared at her. “Trying to play innocent huh? Tell it to the judge.” He sits in the drivers seat and speeds off as a cacophony of voices arise in his dust.
Running up to one of the other officers, Keri tapped him on the shoulder. “Excuse me, who just got arrested?”
“Just someone we've been tracking for a while. Don't worry your pretty little head over it; she's off the streets now.” He reached out and ruffled her hair as the others joined them.
“What did she look like? And don't do that to my hair!” Keri pushed his hand away and scowled.
“I'm sorry peanut, but I can't tell you that. It's classified. I gotta go now, take care of yourself.”
“But…” Keri protested. Climbing into his car, the officer drove off.
Tory arrives somewhere, not having a clue where she is. Getting drug out of the car, she is forced up a long flight of stairs. Shoved into a room, she comes face to face with Sir Baby Face himself.
“Where could she be?” Kurama wondered. “We've looked everywhere for her!”
“Well, the car said something along the lines of `the best services for spirit worlds worst criminals.' Maybe they mistook her for someone else.”
“If they did, I know where she is.” Leading us, Kurama took us on a looooonnnnngggg walk. “Here we are.” Forming a portal, he jumped in. Keri stared at it for a bit then turned to Sano.
“Come on Sano, you first.”
“Noooo!!!!!!!!!!! It's demonic!!”
“Well duh! What do you think Kurama is; a human?” She pushed him into the portal kicking and screaming then follows after.
Recovering from a bout of laughter after seeing her judge, Tory spoke. “I'm sorry sir,” she studied the floor. “but I'm afraid I've no idea what I stand accused of. If you would be so kind as to inform me..”
“You don't know!!” Koenma said in surprise.
“Uh, no sir.”
Coming out of the portal, Kurama landed gracefully on the forest floor. Sano comes out still screaming and lands on his back, with Keri landing on his stomach, knocking all the breath out of him. “Keri…can you *gasps* …get…*wheeze* off?” Grinning down at Sano, she got off, but not before planting a kiss on his cheek.
“Okay!!! Now let's go find Tory!”
“You are a demon and were in the demon world without a passport and for that you shall be restricted strictly to the jail cell we place you in without parole,” Koenma said, leaning back in his chair and folding his hands in his lap.
Leading us in a run into a building, Kurama threw open a pair of doors. “She should be in here.” Running into a room, they see Tory standing in front of a…
“A toddler? What's a toddler doing here?” Keri asked in confusion.
“Careful what you say around here. He is the ruler, remember?”
“Oh yeah!” Laughing sheepishly, Keri blushed slightly. When they turn to ace Koenma, Tory had already been lead away. “What did she do?” Keri demanded of Koenma.
“She's a demon and was in your world without a passport. She's being properly punished as we speak,” Koenma states. Paling even more then he was before, Sano passes out.
“I want to see her,” Keri said, demanding. When Koenma hesitated, Kurama spoke up.
“I'll make sure she behaves herself,” Kurama said, throwing a death glare at him.
Koenma, who was un-phased by his glare (he had gotten much worse from Hiei) nodded. “Kurama, I'm holding you personally responsible if something happens.”
“Don't worry about a thing, sir,” Kurama said, steering Keri towards the room after picking up the still unconscious Sano. After unlocking the cell, Keri hugged Tory then pulled away and looked her up and down.
“That stupid toddler didn't do anything to you did he?” Keri asked in concern.
“No,” Tory said in a dejected tone.
“I'll get you out,” Keri said confidently.
“I'd like to see you try,” Tory responded.
“Don't worry, I will,” Keri said in a perky tone.
“Stop being so perky, it's getting on my nerves.”
“Sorry,” Keri said, sobering. “I'll see you later.” Taking Sano from Kurama, I walked off down the hall, dragging him after. Grabbing Kurama's arm as he goes to follow, Tory pulled him down on the bed with her and whimpers into his shoulders as his arms went around her in comfort.
Entering Koenma's room once again, Keri walked in front of his desk. “Koenma, how can I get her a passport?”
Taken slightly aback by her sudden reappearance and demand, Koenma replied. “Um, she can't get one for another six months at least. It's part of her punishment.” Stalking forward around the desk, Keri grabbed Koenma by his collar and glared at him with murder in her eyes. `Where's Kurama when you need him?' Koenma thought desperately.
“Keri, let go,” Kurama said from the doorway,
`Ah there he is,' Koenma thought in relief. But to his dismay, the grip on his collar didn't weaken, but got tighter.
“Back off fox boy!” she growled angrily.
Eyes narrowing a flashing gold, Kurama growled back, “She's my wife!”
“Then do something!”
“She's your WHAT!!!!” Koenma said in surprise. “Someone had better explain this!” he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
“What's to explain?” Keri snapped in anger. “Tory and Kurama got married. Even a toddler like you could understand.”
“Not a very good move Keri,” Kurama said.
“What could he do? He's a baby!” Keri said.
“Not really,” Kurama said with a grin. “Have you forgotten his teenage form?” He sobered. “He's a very powerful man Keri. Plus insulting someone isn't the most persuasive way to get what you want.” With an angry growl, Keri tossed Koenma back into his chair.
(Ten minutes later)
Hearing a sigh beside her, Tory rolled over and looked at Keri. “Tempet got the best of you?”
“Yeah,” Keri said regretfully.
“Do you think Kurama and Sano can get us out?” Tory asked.
“I hope so,” Keri responded.
Giggling momentarily, Tory said, “Maybe poor Sano's mind should be wiped and then send him home with the excuse of a vacation.” Nodding, Keri agreed.
Hearing a clink, Tory raised her head to see Kurama looking at them form the other side of the bars. “Got yourself some company now dear?”
“Shut up Kurama,” Keri said heatedly.
“Don't yell at him, I already feel bad enough.” Tory lowers her head and buries her head in her fists.
“It's not your fault I'm here. I just have a little bit of a temper.”
“I know, I know, but you don't have to yell at him for trying to cheer me up.”
“He was making fun of me,” Keri said with a pout. Rolling over to face the wall, Tory curled up into a miserable ball. Instantly feeling bad, Keri followed her and gave her a hug. Gracefully bowing, Kurama headed off to talk to Koenma into shortening Tory's sentence. But as far as he's concerned the being trapped in there with his wife can stay.
Walking over to the bars, Keri called out to Sano, who had come with Kurama. “Sano, can you go and get Koenma? I need to talk to him.” Sano agrees and walks off, soon returning with Koenma.
“What do you want grumpy?” Koenma said.
She glared at him for a bit then shook her head. “Sano, go away for a few will you?” Sano walks off. “Koenma, Sano's afraid of demons so could you do me a favor and wipe his memory then get him home?” Koenma agreed and walked off. Slumping on the cot, she buried her face in her arms. Sitting up, Tory pulled her in a hug. Keri sniffs then starts to cry. Blinking in surprise, Tory hugged her tighter. Drawing a shuddering breath, Keri stops crying with a force of will. Tory pats her on her back as she wipes away her tears.
“Keri, its okay to cry.” Shaking her head, Keri straightens.
“No, I'm fine.” She offered Tory a half-smile. “He's just a really good friend and I'm going to miss him.”
“You could see him again later. It'd be like a fresh start, plus…” Tory puffs her chest out. “I could bring him whenever, wherever I want just by blinking.”
“Could you teleport us out of here?” Keri asked hopefully.
“Yeah I could, but do you want them chasing us down? I mean they have access to all three worlds.”
Keri sighed. “True.” After a bit of silence, Keri spoke up again. “How long are you here for again?”
“Three months but for the three months after that sentence I must remain in the demon world for three months. Six months is my total sentence,” Tory responded.
“That sucks.”
“Yours? You know, assaulting the king? How long?”
“Umm….” Keri looks down. “Two years,” she said quietly. Tory cracks up laughing. “Hey!! That's not something to be laughed at!”
“I can't help it!” Tory giggled. “I'm the one who did something wrong and you're the one who got in the most trouble. Mind, you accomplished nothing progressive doing it.”
“I already know that,” Keri said, sighing and lowering her head. “You don't have to rub it in.”
“Sorry,” Tory apologized.
“I'm not very smart am I?” Keri more stated then asked.
“Sure you are, you temper just overrules it sometimes.”
“Sometimes?” Keri said.
“Yes Keri, just sometimes.”
“Thanks,” Keri said, perking up a little. Glancing over at the doorway, Tory sees that Kurama had returned.
“Hi Tory,” Kurama greeted.
“Umm, Kurama?” Keri said, looking down at the floor. “I'm sorry that I've been a jerk to you.”
“Think nothing of it,” Kurama responded with a soft smile. Looking at Tory, he motioned her over.
“Yeah?” Tory said after joining him at the bars.
“I managed to get both of you out of this cell,” he explained with Keri looking on in curiosity. “However, there is a catch.”
“What's the catch?” Keri asked, moving to stand next to Tory.
“You must reside with me in my house I have in the Makai. It won't be the normal walk in the park you're used to in the Nigenkai. Koenma also said that you are not allowed out of my property. Not that you'd want to wander far without someone with you,” Kurama told them. The two girls absorbed this for a moment or two then:
“So when can we go?” Tory asked.
“Tomorrow. Koenma needs to be sure he has a way to keep track of you. Tonight he's going to fit the both of you with tracking devices,” said Kurama.
“That doesn't sound very fun,” Tory complained while Keri sighed.
“Crime rarely is, once you get caught.” Once again that gold flashed through his eyes, but he blinked and it was gone.
“But it's fun when you're doing it,” Keri said. Looking over at her, Tory sighed. “What?! It is!”
“Never mind,” Tory said, shaking her head. Cocking her head at Tory, Keri yawned.
“You'd better go Kurama,” Tory said, reaching out through the bars and pulling him into a kiss before shooing him away and returning to her bed.
“Go to sleep Keri,” Tory instructed. Obeying, Keri curls up on her bed and quickly falls asleep, with Tory soon joining her in dream land.
