Chapter 2: The Vets Office

Disclaimer: previous chapter

[Tora's POV]

Vet? Vet?! I didn't want to go to the vet, if I could get back into my human-ish form I could heal that paw erm………well it would be a hand then wouldn't it, I would be able to heal it myself. I refuse to go to the vet, I was a human/witch/ well I looked human anyway and now I'm a cat, with a vet appointment. The minute Kurama mentioned it I hightailed it out of there, up the stairs and down the hall to Kurama's bedroom. There has to be a place to hide in here! I just sat there and looked around until I heard Hiei walking up the stairs. Where to hide, where to hide?! Closet! That should work, its dark and big and should have a lot of hiding places! I zoomed into the closet and found out I was wrong.

`next time I run into the bathroom.' I thought to myself as I padded through the small walk-in very quickly, looking this way and that for a good hiding place. I found one after a few minutes, right when Hiei entered and gave a huge, silent, kitty sigh and held still. Maybe being so small isn't such a bad thing, an inch bigger and I wouldn't have been able to fit at all.

Hiei entered, and looked around from what I could see through the tiny hole in my hiding space. He walked the 6 feet to the other end and back again, continuously, checking all the nooks and crannies that looked like I could fit into, which incidently he didn't think to check the actual clothing. That is, until………

"ch-choo! Ch-chooo! Ch-chooooo!' until I had a small little sneezing attack and then as I tried to sink lower in my little cloth hiding spot, I managed to smush my bad paw and caused a loud yelp to escape my mouth. `uh-oh.'

"Ah-Hah! Come here Tora!" Hiei reached into the pocket on a purple jacket that had been hanging on a hook close to the floor and grabbed me by the scruff of my neck. He pulled me out as gently as he could, considering I was schreeching my little head off and wriggling and flailing my paws out in every direction I could. Hiei however, wasn't taking it. I was immediately held to his chest and stroked until I calmed down and started purring, again.

[Narrators POV ]

"That right Tora, calm down, good kitten." Hiei whispered to the slowly drifting off to sleep little kitten in his arms. The vet appointment wasn't for another 3 hours so for the next 2 it was television and a sleeping kitten. Then seeing as it was still raining, Hiei wrapped the kitten in the same purple jacket and set off, leaping form tree to tree until he reached the vets office.

{in the vets office}

"Ahem, exuse me I have an appointment for 11 am." Hiei said peering over a counter that came to his chest. A woman of maybe 25 or 26 looked up from her computer at him.

"May I ask the name of the animal sir?" she politely, well, asked.

"Tora." She checked her computer.

"Ah, that's right, Tora. You can go ahead and take her into room 3 now sir, the vet will be there shortly." Hiei gave a nod and went into room 3 with Tora. Tora woke up shortly thereafter and immediately panicked. Hiei, who had been looking around the room at all the charts and posters and tools suddenly felt the prick of several sharp claws digging into his chest even through his layers of clothes and the jacket.

"Ai! Tora! Let go, its okay!" he gasped and gently freed her claws from his flesh. While Tora still seemed to panic as if her life depended on getting out of there. And in her mind, it did. You don't own 8 cats and not know what goes on in a vets office.

[Tora's POV]

`Ooooooh! It is soooo not okay! You do not know what goes on in a vets office dude, I do!!!!' I thought, I would have loved to scream it to him but I couldn't, heck I'm still wondering if I can ever become a humanoid again, I don't wanna be a cat forever! Then the vet entered. Mr. Mizuma, he looked like a guy fresh out of veteranaery school.

"Hello there Mr. Hiei, I'm Dr. Mizuma and this cute little thing must be Tora."

"Correct." Hiei looked at the doctor and then back down to me, the squirming kitten in his arms.

"If you would please set her down on the table we could begin the check up by taking her temperature." Dr. Mizuma motioned to the metal table protruding from the wall and Hiei set me, and the jacket, down. I however tried to burrow deeper into the jacket as I knew exactly how the vet intended to take my temperature and I don't want a thermometer up my butt thank you very much! But he reached for me anyway and I did the only thing I did, hissed and batted at his hands.

"Umm, Mr. Hiei, could you give me a hand here and get her out of the jacket." Dr. Mizuma asked after about a dozen failed attempts and several scratches on his hands. Hiei complied and I growled at him but calmed down as again, he scratched me behind my ears.

"It seems she doesn't like you very much Dr. Mizuma." Hiei chuckled and placed me on the table again, still scratching my ears. Then it happened.

"MRREOWWWW!!!" I screeched as, well, you all can guess. Hiei looked like he felt my pain and kept scratching my ears to keep me calm. After the temp check which confirmed my temperature normal, the vet did everything else and then came to my paw.

"Now then, last thing is her paw. You don't know how she hurt her paw is that correct?"

"Yes."

"Well, we know it hurts her when its touched and apparently she can't walk on it either." The doctor observed as he watched me limp around on three legs, hurt paw held off the ground.

"Mhm." Hiei replied boredly.

"it seems like a sprain but I think X-rays would be a good idea."

"Alright."

"Follow me." The doctor left the room and Hiei scooped me up, grabbed the jacket and followed to a room with a big machine in it. I could feel myself begin shaking involuntatarily. I mean, if you think an X-ray room is freaky as a human, just wait until you can see it from a kittens POV. Its really scary then and like 50 times as huge.

"meow?" I said, so tiny I think only Hiei heard me. Just place her on the table and keep that paw out. It took them a while but they finally got a few decent pictures and it turns out I did only sprain it. I ended up leaving the vets office in a blue cat carrier with Kurama's jacket as my blanket, a bandaged paw, some antibiotics for my sneezes [turns out I had Upper-Respitory as well.] and a very happy to leave Hiei.

Our trip home consisted of one stop, a trip into a pet store for a litterbox and litter and cat food, dry and wet stuff. Then we got home and I was set free. Kurama got home a few hours later and it was like a rerun of last night except dinner for them was take out Chinese, not left over tuna and I had actual cat food with my milk. Its not really that bad.

Will Tora ever get back to a human form? Will Hiei ever act like himself? Tune in next chapter to see. And review it for faster updates!
