Hiei has spent a whole month with Mukuro. At first, he tried to fool himself into thinking he loved her. But he doesn't. He knows he can never give her his heart.

How could he when he already gave it to his fox?

Two tear gems fall from his face. He glares at them. They show his weakness.

He knows what he needs to do to eliminate that weakness. He tells Mukuro how he feels. She said she already knew he was using her. She tells him to go back to his fox before he loses him forever.

Then he leaves to try to talk to the Youko who is dear to him. He finds the redhead at the park, sitting on the bench under his favorite tree. Hiei notices Kurama has lost weight. He goes over to him.

The fox looks up, startled, when Hiei calls his name. Hiei asks if they could talk for a while, and Kurama nods and leads the fire demon to his house.

Everybody needs a little time away

I heard her say

From each other

Even lovers need a holiday

Far away from each other

Hold me now

It's hard for me to say I'm sorry

Hiei had always found it difficult to apologize, but when he saw the muted pain in his fox's eyes, he knew he had to. He loved his fox and would do anything he had to, to get him back.

Hiei told Kurama just that- he expressed how sorry he was for leaving, as well as how much he loved him. He knelt down and asked the redhead for a second chance. He knew he could no more let go of the fox as he could his own heart.

I just want you to stay

After all that we've been through

I will make it up to you

I promised you

That all that's been said and done

You're just a part of me I can't let go

Kurama grabs the little demon and pulls him close as tears cascade down his cheeks. As his fox's tears fall on his head, Hiei moves to look into those beloved emerald eyes. His crimson eyes search the tearful gems.

Kurama sniffles and says he forgives the fire demon. Hiei still meant more than his own life to the fox. Then, as happy little sobs shake his body, Kurama is pulled into Hiei's strong embrace.

Hiei curses himself on how badly he tore his fox up. He vowed then to make it up to him, as he cuddled the crying fox close. It had been pure hell to be away from his lover for so long.

It had been hell for them both- the time apart. Not being able to kiss, touch, or even see the other was unbearable.

Couldn't stand to be kept away

Just for the day

From your body

Wouldn't want to be swept away

Far away from the one that I love

Hold me now

It's hard for me to say I'm sorry

I just want you to know

Both of them knew they could never be apart again. They kissed and swore to each other then and there they would be together forever. Nothing would ever keep them apart ever again.

Hold me now

I really want to tell you I'm sorry

I could never let you go

After all that we've been through

I will make it up to you

I promised you

That all that's been said and done

You're just a part of me I can't let go

Both are kissing and hugging. They want not only to tell each other how they feel but want to show the other one. Both are happy to be back together. Hiei is finally back. Back to the only home he ever needed. His foxes arms are his shelter.

The two lovers show their love for each other with passionate kisses and tight embraces. Words are not enough for the depth of their feelings. They are estatic to be back together.

Kurama smiled against Hiei's mouth. He was so happy Hiei had come back to him. Hiei feels the fox's smile and pulls him even closer. He is finally home. He now knows that he has found the home he has searched for this entire life. He has returned to the only home he needs. His fox's arms are his shelter.

They both knew they would be together forever, because in each other, they had found "the one."

After all that we've been though

I will make it up to you

I promise to

You're gonna be the lucky one
