Four months have passed since Hiei returned to Kurama and they got back together. And although one would think they would be fractured from that ordeal, Hiei and Kurama were now closer than they had ever been before.

But still, Hiei felt he needed to make up for the pain he caused his lover when he was gone. Hiei has been trying to think of something special for his kitsune, but nothing had struck him so far. But then, while he was walking in the park while waiting for his fox to return from a trip with h is school, he saw something he had never seen before.

He watched quietly from a nearby tree as a man got down on one knee in front of a human woman. Hiei listened intently as the guy told her how much she meant to him. He asked her to be his life's mate. He pulled out a black box, opening it to reveal a ring, before holding it out to her. Moved by the ningen's beautifully sincere words, Hiei watched as tears gathered in her eyes and she said yes. The man got up and they embraced tenderly.

Hiei knew this was the perfect thing to do for his fox.

You know our love was meant to be

The kind of love that lasts forever

And I want you here with me

From tonight until the end of time…

You should know, everywhere I go

You're always on my mind

In my heart, in my soul…

The fire demon returned to Kurama's home, jumped through the open window to his room, and waited for the kitsune. He paced anxiously as the hours ticked by like centuries until his fox's return. After what seemed an eternity for Hiei, Kurama got home. He came upstairs to his room and smiled a welcome to his lover. After the standard getting-home questions, Hiei told Kurama to meet him in the garden. He jumped out the window to wait for his fox.

Hiei wiped his sweaty palms on his cloak and took a deep breath. He was nervous. The great Hiei, wielder of the Jagan, was scared to do this. But he wanted to. It was right he just knew it.

Soon, Kurama came out of the house. He had a puzzled expression on his face, and those perfect lips of his were pouting slightly. Hiei kissed those waiting lips, then stepped back just enough to give him room to kneel.

"I have something to ask you…" he says, like he wanted to discuss a strategy. He wants to keep the fox guessing as long as possible.

Kurama tilts his head curiously, then says, "What is it, koi?"

Baby, you're the meaning in my life

You're the inspiration

You bring feeling to my life

You're the inspiration

Wanna have you near me…

I wanna have you hear me saying

No one needs you more than I need you…

Hiei settles down on one knee, and reaches into his pocket for the velvet box he had…umm… "picked up." He tells Kurama how he feels for him, his crimson eyes searching the kitsune's emerald one's. He tells the fox that he can't live without him and wants to be with him forever. Kurama's eyes are huge and luminous. He looks shocked beyond anything, but is listening carefully to everything Hiei is saying. Then, flipping open the box to display the ruby, hematite, emerald, and diamond ring, Hiei asks his fox to be his life's mate.

And I know, yes I know, that it's plain to see…

We're so in love when we're together

Now I know that I need you here with me

From tonight until the end of time…

You should know everywhere I go

You're always on my mind

In my heart, in my soul…

You're the inspiration

You're the meaning in my life

You bring feeling to my life

You're the inspiration

Kurama gasps before falling to his knees and huggng the fire demon close. He screamed his reply, "Yes!" Happy tears fell from his eyes as he picked up his little demon. Hiei was pulled his fox's tight embrace and was spun around. After a while, Kurama stopped spinning and kissed the little koorime passionately, murmuring "yes" quietly against his lover's lips.

Hiei slips the beautiful ring on the fox after gently breaking the kiss. Resisting as the kitsune tries to pull the fire demon back for another kiss, he looks into Kurama's happy green eyes. He kisses a path down the fox's smooth, slender neck before smoothing his rough tongue over it. He then bites down gently, carefully breaking the skin. He smoothes his tongue over the small wounds after withdrawing his fangs, then looked up into the fox's eyes.

Kurama gasped at the marking. It was well known throughout the Makai that a bite mark symbolizes that demon belongs to someone else. Just like an engagement ring in the Ningenkai, but more binding.

He would be with his little koorime forever, bound both body and mind, as well as by spirit. Their two hearts became one that night, and will beat as one until the end of the three worlds.

Wanna have you near me…

I wanna have you hear me saying

No one needs you more than I…

No one needs you more than I…

Wanna have you near me…

I wanna have you hear me saying

No one needs you more than I need you…

No one needs you more…

You're the meaning in my life

You're the inspiration

You bring feeling to my life

You're the inspiration

When you love somebody…

`Till the end of time…

When you love somebody…

Always on my mind…

No one needs you more than I…
