Haru, Sister of Spring
I don't own Yu Yu Hakusho....go figure.
Kurama awoke to the sun beaming into the room. He blinked a few times to adjust to the light before sitting up. He swung his legs to the side and out of the bed.
"Oh, you are awake." He turned his vision over to a woman by the door. "I thought I heard you stirring." She smiled. "Mistress Natsu requests your presence in the main room. I'll lead you, if you like."
"Hai. Arigato." he answered.
"Good. Hurry now." She scurried out of the room with Kurama behind her. They were soon joined by Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Hiei. After walking down countless stairs, they finally reached Natsu's chambers.
"Welcome." she greeted. "I called you here to discuss the matters at hand."

Haru readied herself for another swing of her boomerang. She threw it right on cue with deadly acuracy. It hit its target, cutting it in half. The pieces of the target fell to the ground with two small thumps.
"Well done, Mistress Haru! Your aim is getting even better!" the woman congratulated. Haru wiped the layer of sweat off of her forehead and let out a deep breath. "You look weiry from your training. Go to the spring to relax."
"Hai, I will." She smiled and began to walk away from her tower. At first glance, her territory looked much small than that of her sisters. In truth, her 'backyard' was thousands of acres. "And it's all mine." she whispered. A few birds flew overhead and a few other animals ran around, hiding behind bushes as if play hide-and-go-seek. She began to run, heavy weapon still present on her back. She stopped, hearing the water running. She finally reached the cool spring. It was rather large and deep. She dropped her weapon anf disposed of her outwear, leaving her in a white tanktop and a pair of white shorts. She ran and jumped in, enjoying the cooling sensation. Floating onto her back, she gazed at the sky. "Finally, some peace and quiet."
"Mistress Haru," the woman began as she approached. "I brought you a towel and some fresh clothes."
"Arigato." The woman set the clothes and towel down within her reach and left quietly. Haru kept floating on her back.
"Feeling better?" Haru turned on her stomach at the voice.
"Kurama-san? I have to ask, what do you think you are doing here?" she asked in a stern voice. It was at that moment that Kurama wanted nothing more than for her to let down that barrier she had put up around herself. She was calm and semi-kind, but when it came to company, she wasn't very pleased. "Well? Are you going to answer me or just stare all day?"
"I came to make sure you were alright. Miss Natsu explained you situation and sent me here to watch over you." He smiled one of his pattented and trademarked smiles, but it didn't phase her. "You looked very tired after your fight yesterday. I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do for you."
"You could start by *never* following me to my spring."
"Gomen. I wasn't aware."
"Obviously." He changed his glance from her to her weapon on the ground beside him. He reached, but quickly pulled his hand back. "Would you like to try?"
'Seems her warmer side is begining to show.' "Ano...."
"It's fine." She jumped up and out of the water and threw her clean clothes on over her wet ones. "Come now, I'll show you." She grabbed the leather handle and picked up the giant boomerang. She lead him to a clearing and stopped. "Here." Kurama held on just as she had. Damn was it heavy! He could barely hold it. He wasn't quite sure if he could throw it. "It a simple flick of the wrist."
"A simple 'flick'?" She demonstrated, show the stance and movements. Kurama followed, just as she had said. It was only a flick once he got it over his head. It spun out into the air and came back. Catching wouldn't be as easy. She placed her hand over his nad helped with the timing.
"It's not so hard."
"Maybe not."
They practiced for hours....well, until Haru's colder side came back. They walked back to the castle, but she seemed to keep her distance. Kurama wanted that barrier down even more than before. Spending time with her was wonderful in his mind. She was beautiful, but....No! He couldn't let his thoughts wander to such....mischievious thoughts. He had to focus on making sure she stayed out of trouble. She turned to him.
"Kurama-san, you're staring again." He quickly turned his gazed to his feet. Something caught his gaze in running to Haru. He looked back up again to see a fox in her arms. "Well, hello there, kitsune." She laughed lightly as it began to lick her cheek. "Yes, you're sweet, too."
~~~~~~~~~
Kurama was unable to sleep that night. He was so distracted with his thoughts of Haru that he couldn't possibly sleep. Why did he think so much about her? She was just as any other girl he had met. No, that was wrong. She wasn't the same. She didn't show intrest in him. She acted as though she was discusted with his presence. She was a hard to get--a challenge. She was a challenge for him to get his hands on.
~~~~~~~~~
Kurama awoke the next morning much like when he had spent the night in Natsu's tower. No one was around, so he stood up and found himself walking out toward the back of the tower.
"Oh, Kurama-san." He turned to yet another woman in a pale blue kimono. "Mistress Haru is out to the shrine. She left at the crack of dawn this morning. She didn't say anything about not following her. I guess that leaves you an invitation to follow her." She smiled like everyone else did.
~~~~~~~~~~
Damn stupid Kurama. Why him? He's seems nervous around me. He seems....scared at some points. Kurama no baka. "Damn you." I say quiely. My ears perk. Someone is coming, and it's not one of the girls. I jump into the thickly wooded area, but my target moves. I jump up and run after it. I soon find myself pinning Kurama to a tree. "You're too nosy for your own good."
He smiles and lightly laughs at me.
"Do you like finding yourself pinned?"
"By you, maybe." he says.
"Watch your mouth." I back off and turn, but I soon find myself lying on my back with him stradling my stomach. "Is this your idea of a game?" I ask harshly.
He doesn't respond. He is making me very angry.
"Answer me." I paused and wait for him to speak. It becomes clear he has no intention of doing so. "Then answer me one question."
"Yes?"
"Have you....forget it." What the hell does he think he's doing?! "Would you mind getting off?" He obeys but stays kneeled on the ground next to me. I sit up and then stand. Why is he doing this? No one is supposed to care. We control the seasons with a 'thank you' or a care from anyone. No one has even come to our realm in....how long has it been? I think it's been about two or three thousand years. It's strange to feel my heart ready to pop out of my chest at any given moment. It scares me. "Don't look at me like that." He won't stop giving me the 'I-care-about-you' stare. "I'm serious! Don't!" That was the first time I've yelling in a long time. He didn't seem too taken back. I crossed my arms and walked off, leaving him there. Why I was going back to the tower, I didn't know. He could find me there. I had miles and miles to run and find a spot where I could stay until the stupid boy decided to leave me alone. I find his presence strictly business, nothing more and nothing less.
~~~~~~~~~~~
What did you think? *Sniff* It sucks, I know. But it's late and this is caffine-fueled. Gomen. Hey, I might be writing a sequal to 'A Prayer For the Dying'. I just depends on how much I want to write. I have so many stories that are unfinished, and gymnastics, and cross country, and school, and homework, chores, and all the shit I gotta do. So, don't expect too many updates. I'll try to find some free time in there, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
