Summary: Ok I know I know I suck at updating now. School is literally eating me alive. Now I have swim practices every day after school for 2 hours, along with a ton of homework and tests to study for and all that crap. Doesn't the life of a teenager suck sometimes? Well, enough sob stories. I'm updating again, and I hope to get into a more regular groove of updating. And only I know what happens in this chappie!!! ^_^ tehehehehehehehe I just love making cliffhangers. They're so evil for readers but fun for me. ^_^ ok enough babbling. ON WITH THE FICCIE!!!! Afterthought: Everyone cross your fingers that I don't freak out and throw a temper tantrum again!!!!

Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Daichi skidded to a stop a few feet away from the weeping fox. Yusuke bent his head while Kuwabara stared in shock and Daichi sank to his knees, his own tears falling from his yellow eyes.

"Is he….is he dead?" Kuwabara asked his friend.

"Judging by the way he looks and how Kurama's acting, I'd say yes."

Kuwabara shook his head angrily and stormed over to the red head and pulled the limp body of Hiei from his grasp. Kurama's teary eyes widened in shock as Kuwabara began to shake the fire demon's body violently. "What up you son of bitch! Wake up! I swear if you die on me I'll make you come back to life and kill you again for hurting Kurama! So wake up goddamnit!!!"

Hiei still just hung in his grasp lifelessly, as an old worn out rag doll would in the hands of a young girl. Kuwabara sank to his knees and set Hiei on the ground in front of him as his own tears overcame him.

Kurama took his lover's hand. "Koi. Onegai. Wake up. We need you here with us. So just wake up. Because…because I love you, and if you die then I will die as well."

Suddenly the once stony hand of the fire demon grasped Kurama's firmly and the fox found himself being yanked down so that his face was three inches from Hiei's. His eyelids opened and ruby red irises met wide forest green ones. "If you go and commit suicide I swear I will never forgive you."

Kurama, too shocked to speak, just stared in shock as his "dead" lover spoke from under him and was now smirking at his expression. Then he started to laugh and pulled up his lover, hugging him tightly. Hiei choked "Kurama….can't…..breath….let…go…NOW!"

Kuwabara, who has also staring wide eyed at this turn of events, started to pretend to gag, while Yusuke started laughing as well and Daichi continued to cry, only now they were tears of relief not mourning. Kurama looked into his lover's eyes happily, as Hiei looked into his. "I thought you were dead koi."

"I thought I was too."

Kurama and Hiei leaned forward at exactly the same time to bring themselves into a loving embrace, oblivious to the fact that Kuwabara was turning green next to them, Yusuke was doubling over with laughter, and Daichi was looking at them like a teenage girl watching a chick flick.

While the two reunited lovers share their embrace, the sound of running feet is heard in the distance. Yusuke contains his laughter and looks up to see a tall young man with long black hair with blue streaks and a very short girl with teal hair and dressed in a pale blue kimono running towards them. Kuwabara looked up as they get within a few yards of them and starts google eyeing the girl. After a moment the two demon lovers pull apart and Hiei smiles weakly at the two. "Yukina, Atsuya" is all he says before he falls unconscious into the arms of his lover.

Kurama gasps and tries to shake him awake, but Yukina puts her small hand on his shoulder. "Iye. He needs to rest now. He'll awaken in a day or two."

Kuwabara continued to gap at her while nudging Kurama. Kurama grinned. "Oh yes I almost forgot. Yukina, this is Kuwabara Kazuma. He played a great part in getting us here."

Yukina smiled kindly at the human boy, who went bright red. "Thank you very much Kuwabara. It is because of you that my brother is alive right now."

Kuwabara's blush deepened. "Please Yukina-chan, call me Kazuma."

Yusuke stuffed his fist into his mouth to keep from laughing while Kurama bit his lip. Daichi walked over to Atsuya. "Atsuya-san, what has happened?"

Atsuya looked down. "All I know is that Tetsumi and Narushi are dead. How about you?"

Daichi looked down as well. "Fusashi, Ryouji, and Namika are dead as well."

"That leaves Motokazu, Junji, and Junna unaccounted for. Daichi, could you fly up and find them?"

"Hai Atsuya-san."

Before the phoenix demon could fly away Atsuya put his hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry for the loss of Fusashi. I know how much he meant to you."

Daichi smiled sadly at his leader. "He died so that I could live. I'll never be able to forgive myself for that, but I must live with it. And I am sorry for your loss Atsuya-san. I know what it feels like to loose a loved one." With that said he flew away to search for the remaining three members of the Yami Masuraos.

"Could you carry Hiei into the castle Kurama? I'm much too weak to," asked Yukina.

"Of course," replied the fox as he scooped up his sleeping lover.

Yusuke cocked his head over to the right as he examined Hiei. "He looks like such a little kid! Is he really three hundred years old?"

Atsuya turned to the ningen fighter. "Demon's do not age in the same manner as you human's do. Depending on our strength, we can live to be thousands of years old. Hiei is considered by demon standards as young. I myself am only a little older, three hundred and fifty."

Kuwabara turned back. "Then how come the shrimp is ruling this place if he's not the oldest?"

"Because he was the heir to the throne. About a hundred years ago Hiei-sama and Yukina-san's father died, and because their mother died giving birth to them, their step-mother inherited the throne. She was a wicked ruler, and often abused her step-children, so one day Hiei got fed up with it and killed her. And now he's the ruler."

Kuwabara's eyes widened. "He KILLED her!?! Just like that?! His STEP-MOM?!"

Yukina turned around. "Hiei is always very protective of me. Our step-mother was torturing me to make me cry my teargems so she could by herself some new fighting tunics. My brother walked in on this, and became very angry, and unlocked a hidden power that was within him and killed her in his rage. Ever since then he's been ruler, though he prefers to be known as a prince rather than a king as he is so young."

Hiei mumbled in his sleep from his position in Kurama's arms. "I'm not young I just look it now give me more sweet snow."

Everyone laughed, including Atsuya, and Kurama nuzzled his lover's nose. "You're so cute koi, you know that right?"

"Whatever I want chocolate please," mumbled the sleeping fire demon.

Kurama smiled. "He's just like you Yusuke! He talks clearly in his sleep like you do whenever Kieko knocks you out."

Yusuke blushed. "I don't do that!! I don't know what you're talking about."

Kuwabara nudged him grinning. "Oh yeah? I remember one time Kieko slapped you and you hit the ground and got knocked out and you said something like `ooo Kieko you make me feel so good' and then she slapped you again and you had to go to the hospital."

Yukina looked shocked. "You're lover does that to you?"

Yusuke rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah all the time. I wish she'd stop."

Kurama laughed. "She only did that last time because you started poking her chest."

"Shut up Kurama! No one needed to know that!"

Yukina looked confused. "Are all humans this strange when they're in love?"

Kurama smiled. "No, Yusuke and Kieko are in their own class when it comes to love. But no matter how much they annoy each other they still love each other. It's very sweet actually."

Yukina smiled back. "Just like you and my brother?"

Kurama laughed. "Oh I hope Hiei doesn't do to me what Kieko does to Yusuke! I really don't fancy having hand marks on my face half my life. But the always loving each other part is the same."

Daichi suddenly flew in carrying a girl with incredibly long sky blue hair streaked with white in his arms. Upon landing in front of Atsuya the girl opened her eyes, which matched her hair. "Where…oh hello Atsuya-san. What has happened?"

Atsuya looked at the girl, and then back at Daichi. "What happened?"

Daichi looked back at his leader. "I don't know. All I know is that Junji and Motokazu are dead, along with Masayoshi. I found Junna unconscious near their bodies."

Atsuya looked back down at the wind demon. "Junna. What happened? Who killed your brother and Motokazu?"

Tears filled the woman's eyes. "Masayoshi….he….he…he killed Motokazu, and then Junji…he charged that snake…and…his tail…and…oh it was horrible!" she cried as she broke down into tears.

Daichi put Junna onto the ground and Yukina walked up to her. "Junna, please pull yourself together. We cannot bring back your brother or his friend. But you must remain strong. Akiyoshi is still at large, and is bound to come back soon."

"Now is not the time to be mourning them Junna-chan. Yukina-san is right, Akiyoshi is bound to come back," said Daichi.

"We must all be ready for him, seeing as Hiei-sama will still be too weak to fight him. We must protect our lord at all costs, even if it means losing our lives," Atsuya added.

Junna nodded, wiping her teary eyes. "I know I'm being pathetic. I will be strong from now on. I will willingly sacrifice my life to protect Hiei-sama. And only if Akiyoshi is dead will I mourn my losses."

Kurama watched the scene before him with growing anger. ::That bastard killed someone very dear to everyone here except for Yukina and myself. He may be a demon, but he is a true demon among demons, and does not deserve to live.:: He turned to Atsuya. "Atsuya-san, do you have any idea where Akiyoshi may be right now?"

"Probably in his old camp healing from the wound you gave him. Why?" the water demon asked.

"Just curious. Come on, we should all get inside the castle soon. It's cold out here."

After a few minutes the group was inside one of the larger rooms of the castle. Yukina was healing the wounds that Akiyoshi had given Hiei while Kurama assisted with his herbal remedies. Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Atsuya were discussing fighting techniques, though Kuwabara wasn't really listening, he was gazing lovingly at Yukina. Daichi and Junna were sharing fond memories of their lost comrades, hoping to heal the pain inside them.

Once Hiei was healed to the best of his and the ice maiden's ability, Kurama stood. "I'm going to go for a walk, I'll be back in an hour. " he said as he walked out the door.

Yusuke ran after him. "You ok man?"

Kurama smiled at his friend. "I'm fine. I just need to be alone to think for a little bit. That's all."

"Ok."

After a fifteen minutes Kurama walked to the spot where he had thought he had lost his lover, he knelt. The fox pulled a seed from his long red mane and pressed it into the rich soil. He then feed the seed some of his youkai energy, and a beautiful red rose bush sprouted from the ground. ::This is my gift for you koi. I will be back soon:: he thought as he stood and ran into the forest in the direction that Akiyoshi had disappeared.

*inside the castle *

Hiei suddenly gasped and sat up in his futon. Yukina quickly ran over to him. "Nan ja Hiei? What is it? Does something hurt? You shouldn't be awake yet!"

The fire demon looked around frantically. "Where's Kurama?!?!"

Yusuke walked over to him. "Woah man calm down. He just went out for a walk. He left about twenty minutes ago, and said he'd be back in an hour."

"Did anyone go with him?!?!"

"No, he said he needed to be alone to think. Oh shit! You don't think he…"

Hiei jumped out of his futon. "That's exactly what I think!"

The two boys ran out of the castle leaving the others looking after them. Kuwabara looked to Daichi. "Think what?"

"Beats me," the phoenix demon said shrugging.

*outside *

Hiei stopped in front of the magnificent rose bush. Sinking to his knees he touched one of the roses, his small, coarse fingers brushing gently over the silky finesse of the ruby petals. Yusuke ran up to him, breathing hard. "Ok this definitely wasn't here earlier. What does it mean?"

Hiei turned sadly to the human boy. "It means that Kurama went to fight Akiyoshi to revenge me. We have to find him before he's killed! I know what Akiyoshi is capable of more than Kurama does, and if Kurama is beaten…"

"He's in deep shit."

"To put it bluntly, yes."

*a grove in the forest *

Kurama stood locked in a stare down with his enemy. After a moment the lightening demon laughed. "So you want to die already?"

"I'm not here to die. I'm here to kill you for what you did to Hiei."

Akiyoshi looked the fox up and down. "Hm…it'd be such a waste to kill such a beautiful creature. You're more stunning than that little brat prince. I know what I'll do with you!"

"Die a slow painful death?"

Akiyoshi snorted. "Your sense of humor flatters me. No, once I beat you, which, I might add, I will most definitely do without breaking a sweat, you will become my little pet. I've been needing to get a new one for a while now, ever since the brat prince left me."

Kurama glared at him. "Well, I'm sorry to inform you, but you will not be beating me anytime soon, and the fact that you will be dead will make it rather hard for you to own a `pet' as you put it."

The lightening demon just laughed. "We'll see little whore, we'll see. Now I'm a very gracious demon, so I'll let you have the first move, seeing as it will be your last. Unless you count moving your legs apart once I defeat you."

Darkdemonchild: Did you honestly think I would kill off Hiei? Hiei?! My favorite character?!?!?! Of course I wouldn't be mean enough to do that!!!! I'm not evil you know. Well, actually, I killed Hiei in one fic, but then Kurama jumped off a cliff so they could be together, so that doesn't really count. ^_^;;;; well anyway, the whole pet idea was Kris', so I give her total credit for that. And also sorry this chapter isn't as long as the others, it's more of an middle point for two battles. Therefore it's not very long. But anyway, enough of my babbling on and on about nothing. Please review! Reviews most definitely make me update faster! And plus they make me feel loved. ^_^ so until the next chapter, ja!
