Akina sighed as she walked into the Urameshi apartment. She never wanted to see another stair in her life! She dropped her schoolbag off in her room deciding to do her homework later. She rubbed Kuroi behind the ears and let him out of her room so he could roam the apartment.
She glanced at the clock. 5:00, She would need to make Yusuke something to eat, she suspected he would be hungry when he got home. That kid was always hungry.
"I'll worry about that later," She muttered as she walked into the bathroom, deciding to take a nice long bath. She turned the water on and let the bathtub fill up before she slid into the warm water.
~~~~~~~
She walked out of the bathroom an hour later feeling great. Why the hell did Tora have so many stairs anyway?
She dried her hair off and walked to the amazingly clean kitchen. She remembered her promise to cook her cousin something special. She sighed and set to work.
She was in the middle of cooking Sukiyaki when the door opened and her cousin walked in.
Akina's eyes widened in shock. "Kami-sama! Yusuke what happened?!" She yelled running over to him.
He was covered in blood, bruises and who knows what else. His clothes were torn and the was a trail of blood throughout the hall, and a puddle forming underneath him.
"I'm fine." He muttered pushing her away.
"No Yusuke you are not. Don't say that you are." She said helping her cousin to the couch so he could sit down. She disappered for a few seconds and returned with a first aid kit. She sat down and began to clean and bandage his wounds.
"What happened?" She demaned.
Yusuke winced at the alcohol she was putting on his wounds. "Nothing. I-I just got cornered by a gang." He muttered.
"Yusuke don't lie. I'm not stupid. I know you've taken on hundereds of gangs and you've always managed to come out without a single scratch. I don't know why you insist on lying, you know I can always tell when you do. Now tell me what happened."
"I can't."
"Why the hell not?" She demanded.
"I just don't want to put another person in danger!" He said getting frustrated.
Akina stopped cleaning his wounds in shock. "Nani?" She asked.
"I said it would put you in danger! Too many people have almost died because of me. I'm not adding another person to the list."
"Yusuke-"
"Just drop it." He muttered.
Akina continued to bandage his wounds in silence. She finnished and returned the first aid kit to where it belonged.
"Look Akina, gomen. I just can't tell you."
"Iie, it's okay. I was just worrying about you!" She snapped. "There's food for you in the
kitchen.
Yusuke watched as his cousin retreted to her room and shut the door. He knew she wasn't going to come out until morning. He sighed and limped towards the kitchen, deciding not to waste the Sukiyaki she had made.
"Or a least half made." He muttered looking at the partially cooked food. He shruged and ate it
anyway.
~~~~~~~
Akina left the apartment the next morning not even bothering to wake her cousin. She knew that Keiko would anyway.
She pulled long black hair into a loose bun as she walked going over how stupid Yusuke was in her head. She arrived at the school and sat down beneath a tree, knowing she had sometime before school started.
"Ohayou Akina-chan!" Tora said running up to her.
"Ohayou Tora-chan," Akina said faking a smile.
"Daijoubu ka?" Tora asked noticing the fakeness to her smile.
"I-iie, have you seen Suuichi-kun?" She asked.
"You're not becoming a fangirl are you?" Tora asked with a frown.
"Iie, I just need to ask him something about my cousin."
"Oh, okay. He's just on the other side of the school. He goes there to avoid the fangirls."
"Arigatou Tora-chan!" She said walking off. Tora shrugged and followed.
Akina spotted the redhead walking towards the school.
"Suuichi-kun?"
Kurama turned around spotting his friends cousin. "Ohayou Akina-chan." He said with a smile.
"Um, Suuichi-kun, you said yesterday that you were going somewhere with my cousin."
"Hai, I did."
"Would it be okay if I asked you a question?"
Kurama hesitated. "...Hai."
"Is it okay if I asked you what happened? When Yusuke came home last night he was covered in blood and who knows what else. I just want to know what happened to him."
Kurama frowned, how was he going to get out of this one. Tell her that he and her cousin were attacked by a youkai? No, that wouldn't work.
"Gomen, I cannot tell you Akina-chan."
"Onegai Suuichi-kun. Yusuke and his Okaa-san are the only family that I have left. I-I just want to know what happened."
Kurama began to notice tears falling from her eyes. "Gomen nasai. I am not permitted to tell you about it. Yusuke will have to tell you about it himself. But I'm sure he won't. He doesn't want to put you in any danger."
"A-alright. Gomen. I shouldn't have bothered you."
Kurama stood in shock watching the tears falling down her face. The only time he had ever made a girl cry was when he told them he didn't want a girlfriend. But this, this was different.
"Gomen Akina-chan I-"
"Douitashimashite Suuichi-kun. I-I got to get to class." She said, almost in a wisper. As she wipped a tear out of her eye.
"Don't worry about Yusuke. He'll be fine. He always is."
"A-arigatou Suuichi-kun." She muttered as she walked away.
Tora walked over to the redhead, who was now leaning against a tree deep in thought.
"What the hell did you do to her?!" She demanded.
"She wanted to know what happened to her cousin. I said I couldn't tell her."
"Why the hell not! She was worried about him!"
"It wasn't my place to tell."
Tora glared at the redhead before running off in the direction Akina did.
Kurama sighed. "Why didn't I just stay dead." He muttered to himself.
~~~~~~~
"Akina-chan! Matte!" Tora yelled running up to her friend. "Daijoubu ka?" She asked.
"Hai. I just- It's nothing."
"I'm sure your cousin will be fine."
"H-how did you know about my cousin?"
"Suuichi-kun told me why you were upset. Do you want me to go yell at him for making you cry or something?"
"Iie. It wasn't his fault. He was right. He shouldn't be the one to tell me. Yusuke should."
"You sure your okay?"
"Hai." She said smiling.
Tora frowned. It scared her how someone could go from crying to cheerful in under ten seconds. It was actually kinda annoying.
"Come on. Let's get to class."
~~~~~~~
The bell wouldn't ring soon enough for Akina. She may of loved school but right now she just wanted to get home.
She gave a sigh of relief when the bell finnaly did ring. She grabbed her bag and swung it over her shoulder.
"So do you wanna come over to my apartment again?" Tora asked.
"Ano...Why don't we just go to my apartment." Akina said remembering all the stairs. "I can check on Yusuke. He probally didn't go to school today. For one, he can't really move that well, and two, he never goes anyway."
Tora laughed. "Alright. I gotta go tell Takai I don't need a ride. I'll be right back. You can just go wait outside."
"Okay." Akina grabbed her things and started to walk out the front enterance, when she was stopped by Kurama.
"Um, Akina-chan."
"Konnichiwa Suuichi-kun."
"I wanted to appologize. I didn't mean to make you cry-"
"Douitashimashite Suuichi-kun. You were right. You have no right to tell me. It's not your place to tell me. It's Yusuke's. I just have to bug the hell out of him when I get home. That normally works."
Kurama smiled. "You're not upset?"
"Well I'm still a little pissed off at Yusuke, but that's nothing new."
"Hey Suuichi-kun." Tora said running out the front doors. "Okay Akina-chan! Do you wanna go?"
"Sure. Ja ne Suuichi-kun!"
"Ja."
"So, what do you wanna do?" Tora asked.
"Well, I gotta go check on my cousin, then we can do whatever."
"Okay, sounds great!"
~~~~~~~
"Welcome to the Urameshi apartment!" Akina said with a smile.
"Akina-chan!!!! I'm so sorry I wasn't here to welcome you! I've missed you! How have things been?"
Tora blinked as a young woman(Maybe about 30. If that.) came and caught Akina in a hug.
"Konnichiwa Oba-san!" Akina said smiling. Tora looked at the her like she was crazy. Did she actually put up with this?
"Gomen nasai about your parents! I really didn't expect my Onii-chan to die like that. So, how have you been? Has Yusuke been behaving himself?"
Tora couldn't put up with it anymore. She cleared her throat and Akina turned around, remembering she was there.
"Oh gomen Tora-chan. This is my Oba-san, Atsuko."
"Oh you've already made a friend! That's good!" Atsuko said with a wide smile on her face. Tora took a step back. This woman was really starting to scare her.
"Hajimemashite Urameshi-san. Watashi wa Hanari Tora Desu." (a/n o_0 wow....that's like 7 whole words in japanese....confused yet^^')
"Oh just call me Atsuko!"
Tora nodded, still looking strangley at the woman. "Hai."
"I'll be right back. I've...gotta go talk to Yusuke." Akina said walking down the hall to the bedrooms. "You can go sit down on the couch if you want Tora-chan."
"Arigatou!" Tora said sitting down on the couch, a little creeped out by the fact that Atsuko was still following her.
~~~~~~~
Akina opened the door to her cousins room. Yusuke, who was laying on his bed, still covered in bandages, looked up at her, and then rolled over, to face the other direction.
"Don't even bother yelling...I've had enough of it from you." He muttered.
"Yusuke. I just want to know what happened to you."
"Nothing. I just...got in a fight." He answered. 'There. That's not a complete lie. Is it?' he asked himself.
Akina sighed. 'That's the most I'm going to get out of him isn't it. Stupid lying cousin.' "Alright Yusuke. I guess I'll just have to live with that. Get better 'kay?"
Yusuke blinked. "Your letting me off that easy?"
"Mm-hm! Just remember....I'll be watching you. If you do anything stupid to get yourself hurt again....I'll hurt you even more!" She said in an freakishly cheerful way.
"Right." Yusuke said, unsure of his answer.
"Anyway, I've gotta go. I've got a friend over."
"Sure whatever. I was sleeping anyway." Yusuke said with a yawn.
~~~~~~~
"So?" Tora asked as Akina re-entered the room.
"Jerk. Still wouldn't tell me what happened."
Tora fought to hide in her smile. "He's a stubborn one is he?"
"Hai. A stubbon little jackass." Akina muttered. "So, what would you like to do?"
Tora shrugged. "It doesn't really matter. As long as I'm home in an hour so my brother doesn't kill me."
"Alright then. I'm gonna do my homework. I wanna get it done for now so I don't have to worry about it. Oh. And I couldn't help but notice you're good at math. Could ya give me a hand? I'm having a little trouble." She muttered. She hated admiting it. She had always been rather good in math, and she really hated not being good at a school subject. 'Goddamn math. It's out to get me...I know it is.'
"Um, sure no problem. Are you really having that much trouble?" Tora asked.
"Hai." Akina muttered annoyed at herself.
"Alright then! I'll help! You don't have to worry about a thing!" Tora said happily.
"Arigatou Tora-chan! It's that stupid calculus. I can't seem to figure out what it's saying."
"Alright! Don't worry about a thing. By the time I'm done with you, you'll be doing calculus in your sleep!"
"That's what I was afraid of." Akina muttered.
~~~~~~~
Akina yawned. Spending over three hours to cook something was annoying. But her Oba-san deserved something special. She was, after all, the coolest Oba-san ever.
She set the bowl of Oden infront of her Oba-san, and then taking a bowl to her cousin's room, figuring he would still be unable to move.
"ALRIGHT FOOD!" Yusuke said happily snatching the bowl out of her hands.
Akina blinked in surprise at the teen. "Yusuke, be careful. Your still hurt, you might re-open your wounds."
"Hey, I didn't get to eat yet today. You left before I woke up and 'Kaa-san wasn't home for lunch." He said while shoving food into his mouth (causing Akina to look at him in discust) "Besides. Your cookings the best."
"Arigatou...I guess. Anyway. I'm gonna go take a walk. Even though I've been here so many times, I've never been to that park across the street."
"Hey. Be careful okay." He said. He was strangly serious. Not something you got from him often. "And don't go too far into the forest. You don't know what could be out there."
"Alright Yusuke. You don't have to worry about me. I'll be fine. I'm not going to run into a bear or anything."
"It's not the bears I'm worried about." He said quietly. Luckily she didn't hear him as she closed his door, leaving him in the dark once again.
"Kuso...." Yusuke muttered. "Now I can't see my food..."
~~~~~~~
"Ja Oba-san! I'll be back in a little bit. I've just going for a walk."
"Alright Akina-chan. Can you hand me a bottle of sake before you leave?" Atsuko asked.
Akina sighed. "Don't drink too much."
"Oh don't worry about me Akina-chan! I'll be fine."
Akina shook her head as she handed her a bottle. "I'll be back in an hour. I'm just going to talk a walk to clear my head. And onegai....don't drink a lot."
"No more than a bottle!" Atsuko said happily.
Akina sighed. A bottle was still a lot. "Alright. Yakusoku?"
"Hai! Now go enjoy your walk." She said before rasing the bottle to her mouth.
~~~~~~~
Taking a deep breath Akina fell back into a pile of leaves in the middle of the forest. There was something so relaxing about laying in a forest.
"There." She said talking to herself. "I've found the perfect spot to think." She spoke, rolling over on her side, twirling a leaf between her fingers. She sighed happily as she looked up into the tree tops.
She blinked. "Okay...That was weird...I thought I just saw something" she muttered. "Must of been a bird or something."
She set her head back down closing her eyes. It was so peaceful here. There was hardly even a sound heard in the whole forest.
She jumped up hearing a twig snap and took a step back as she heard footsteps.
She wimpered without even realizing it as she continued looking for the source of the footsteps. She couldn't figure out what direction they were comming from.
She shrieked feeling a hand on her shoulder. As she spun around trying to figure out what was happening.

Notes:
So far I've been trying to keep everyone in character. I think I'm probally doing okay with Yusuke-kun, but I think Kurama-kun may be a little bit out of character. I'm trying, but I'm not sure if it's working. My excuse, Kurama-kun acts different when he is playing the part of Suuichi Minamino. I'm trying my best to make him the same yet different, and so far I've come up with ...blah >.< But this is just my opinion, if you guys think I'm doing an okay job with his personality, just let me know, PLEASE! ...If you think Kurama-kun's personality is bad, just wait until Hiei-san's in the story. I know for sure I'm gonna screw him up one way or another...Oh well, the point is I tried right? ...right?? *hopeful look*
Maybe about 30. If that: Atsuko-san is really about 29. Kinda young ne? But anyway, I've figured out that If she's 29 now, and Yusuke-kun is 14 that would of made her about 15 ish when she gave birth to Yusuke-kun. (Yay I can do basic math^^) but oh well. She's kinda young. Also, I don't know how long Atsuko normally stays out when she's drinking(Or whatever else she does) and I thought that if she was gone more then two days, it would be a little much. Which is why she's in this chapter.
I also made Akina's Tou-san a little bit(Okay a lot) older then Atsuko-san, Maybe 10-15 years, (Hey it's happened before. My sister is 10 years older then me. And she's my youngest sibling. My oldest sibling is about 17 years older then me.) Just to show that not everyone in the family is kinda.....ya you get it. Not that I don't Love Yusuke-kun and Atsuko-san, I just made Akina come from a better home and stuff...Okay I'm going to stop insulting poor Atsuko-san now^^'

Quote of the chapter:
"So tell me, what's it like living in a constant haze of stupidity?" Hiei, talking to Kuwabara (Who else would he be talking to?)
