Yawning as she sat up in her bed, after a thankfully dreamless night, Akina took a look at the calendar she had set up on her
wall. November 17. And it was a Saturday, meaning there was only half a day of school.
Throwing on her fuku, she ran a brush through her hair as she walked towards her cousins’ door.
“Yusuke!” Akina said knocking on his door. “School!”
She heard grumbling and signs of movement and deciding he was awake walked to the kitchen to make breakfast, checking her
Aunts room on the way.
“Must’ve gone out drinking.” She muttered. “Alright then. Breakfast for two of us.”
Throwing some rice into the rice cooker (A/N Tee hee I love those things) and throwing together whatever she could find in
the fridge.
Yusuke emerged from his room, pulling a shirt over his head.
“Ohayou gozaimasu Yusuke.”
“Ohayou.” He said, his voice slightly muffled by the shirt, which seemed to be stuck.
Akina rolled her eyes and scooped rice out of the rice cooker into a bowl.
“Too lazy to cook?” Yusuke asked, shirt finally on.
“Hai. That and I overslept. If I take too much time to cook I’ll be late.”
“Why don’t you just not go?”
“Because Yusuke,” She said glaring at him. “I care about my future.”
“Whatever, not like I do.”
“Your going.”
“Why?”
“Because.” She said throwing his school bag at him, “I said so.”
Yusuke glared at her, and grabbed a bowl of rice and quickly shoving it into his mouth, then (ignoring his cousins disgusted
look) walked out the door.
Deciding to do the dishes after school, she set them in the sink. She grabbed her bag, double checking to make sure she had
everything and walked out the door, locking it and placing the key back into her bag.

Class was extremely boring, lunch was uneventful, and Akina got stuck doing o soji by herself when the other students
assigned for that day left. Tora however, had stayed to keep her company.
Akina groaned as walked out of the front gate. “This days just been going wrong.” She muttered.
“We should do something fun then!” Tora suggested. “It’s the best time to go see the koyo now, we should get together with
some others and head out to Rikugien.”
“Sounds good! I’ll have to find out where Yusuke is though.”
“Alright then, you can head home and find him, get him to call his friends, I’ll call Takai and the two of us will meet you
there around, maybe 3:00?”
“Alright, as long as Yusuke wants to go. If he doesn’t I’ll give you a call.”
“Sure thing!”

“No.”
“Oh come on Yusuke! It’ll be fun, and it’s a great reason for everyone to get together!”
“No. Koyo is a girly thing, and I’ve had to put up with Kuwabara for too long today.”
“Kuwabara isn’t that bad…”
“He is when he’s calling you ‘Yu-chan’. I’m not going.”
“Gomen…and onegai? It will be more fun with you there.”
“No.”
“Oh come on Yusuke. How ‘bout this. If you come, I won’t make you go to school tomorrow.”
Yusuke’s eyes lit up. “Alright.”
Akina smiled. ‘Baka.’ She thought trying not to laugh. ‘Tomorrow’s Sunday.’ “Can you call your friends then?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m working on it.”
Akina smiled and walked to her room to change.

“Akina-chan!” Tora said catching the attention of her friend.
“Konnichiwa Tora-chan!”
“So that’s your cousin then?”
“Oh that’s right, you two haven’t met yet. Gomen. This is my cousin Yusuke, and Yusuke, this is Tora.”
“Hajimemashite.” Tora said smiling slightly. She never knew Akina’s cousins name was Yusuke. She would have to be extra
careful around him.
“Meh.” Yusuke muttered. He looked extremely bored, he was still in his green school uniform (If you could call it a school
uniform) and looked like he would rather be in a sewer then in Rikugien.
“Are some of his friends coming?” Tora asked.
“Hai. I think he said Shuuichi-kun was coming, along with Keiko-chan, Botan-san and Kuwabara-san . Is that everyone Yusuke?”
“Hmm? Oh yeah that sounds right.” Yusuke said looking up.
“Is Takai-san coming?” Akina asked.
“Hai. But he may be a little late.”
“He’ll be late…He has a car, the two of us got stuck on the subway.” Akina muttered.
“Do you not like subways Akina-chan?”
Akina jumped turning around. “Shuuichi-kun!”
“Gomen. Did I startle you?”
“It’s okay.”
“Konnichiwa Yusuke-kun.”
“Meh.”
“Does he ever say anything else?” Tora asked looking at the young tantei
“Depends if he’s interested or not.” Akina said rolling her eyes. “It wouldn’t kill him to actually do something productive
for once in his life.”
Yusuke glared at his cousin. “Why bother? There really isn’t a point to it.”
Tora blinked and looked at Yusuke. “Oh don’t worry Tora-chan. He’s just in another of his “I hate life, I’m going to skip
school” moods. You get used to it.” Akina explained.
“Alright.” Tora said still not sure about her friends cousin.
“So we’ll just wait for the others to show up then we can go.” Akina said happily.
“Why the hell are we doing this again?”
“Because Yusuke.”
“Yusuke stop complaining.”
Akina spun around. “Konnichiwa Keiko-chan!”
“Konnichiwa.” Keiko said smiling.
“Oh Keiko-chan, this is Hanari Tora. She’s a friend of mine. And Tora-chan, this is Yukimura Keiko, Yusuke’s friend.”
“Oh Hajimemashite Hanari-san.”
“Konnichiwa Yukimura-san, and you can call me Tora.”
“So who are we missing now?” Keiko asked.
“Um, Botan-san, Kuwabara-san and Tora-chan’s boyfriend Ito Takai.”
“Konnichiwa minna-san!” Came a cheerful voice.
Akina blinked in surprise. Botan hadn’t been there before… She shrugged it off deciding that she had missed it or something.
Botan happily joined there group as Kuwabara showed up seconds later.
“You guys can go ahead, I’ll stay and wait for Takai.” Tora said.
“But Tora-chan…”
“Go on Akina-chan. It’s okay.”
“Are you sure…I can stay…”
“No go ahead.
“Alright…As long as you’re sure.”
“Goshinkipai-naku.”
Akina nodded as she followed the others into the park, turning back slightly to see Tora.
“Daijoubu ka Akina-chan?” Kurama asked her, stopping to wait.
“Hai. I just didn’t really want to leave Tora-chan by herself.”
“I’m sure she’ll be fine Akina-chan. You don’t need to worry about it.”
“Arigatou Shuuichi-kun.” Akina said smiling.
Kurama returned the smile as the two of them continued walking with the others.
Kuwabara twitched. “Um… There’s something out there.”
“Nani?” Yusuke asked.
“I’m feeling some weird energy.”
Akina blinked in confusion and turned to Yusuke.
“Um Kuwabara and I have to go talk about something. Yeah and Shuuichi has to come too.” Yusuke said grabbing the redheads
arm and pulling him along as he apologized to the others.
Akina was confused. There was no other word for it. Just confused. “Um Keiko-chan…”
“Oh it’s nothing Akina-chan. They’re just doing guy stuff or something.”
“Nani? But I thought Kuwabara said-“ Botan was cut off with a glare from Keiko. “Oh right.” Botan said sheepishly.
“Um. May I ask what’s going on?” Akina said, confusion dominant in her voice.
“Oh it’s nothing, lets just keep going.” Keiko said.
“Okay…” Akina said still a little unsure.
"Akina-chan!" Akina turned around to find Tora running up to her, followed by Takai.
"Tora-chan-"
"Good. Your alright. You should leave- Where are the guys?"
"They said they had to talk and walked off...But why-"
"Okay, Takai and I are going to take you home. There's something going on over there, it's not safe here."
"But what about-"
"Yusuke can handle himself."
"But-"
"Let's go." Tora said taking Akina's arm and walking towards the exit. Akina looked back at Takai to see that he still had
the same cold expression. It really creeped her out. There was just something about those eyes. She also found that Keiko and
Botan were not there any more."
"Tora-chan what's going on?"
"I uh don't know. You should just get home."
"But what about the others?"
"They'll be fine there's nothing to worry about." Tora's eyes darted into a part of the forest. She looked back at Takai who
nodded and walked in through the trees.
"Takai's car is just over here." Tora said, leading Akina towards a blood red car.
'Okay. It's official Takai creeps me out. Who wants a car that looks like blood.' Akina shuddered as she sat down in the back
seat.
"Daijoubu ka?"
"Hai. But where's Takai?"
"He'll be here soon."
As if on cue, Takai opened the door and got it, placing the keys in the ignition.
"Tora-chan, can you please tell me what's going on?"
Tora shook her head as Takai started the car. "You'll have to wait for your cousin to explain things to you. It's not my
place to tell you. This involves him a lot more than it involves me."
Akina was silent the whole time they were in the car and even when they were in the elevator to Akina's floor.
"You should go lay down for a little bit Akina-chan. I'll get Takai to make you something to eat. You need to rest. You may
be up for a while later."
"Why-"
"Yusuke will explain."
"But-"
"Go lay down."
"Okay..." Akina walked towards her bedroom and opened the door letting Kuroi out. Brushing against her leg the cat wandered
out to where Tora and Takai were.
Akina walked into her room with a sigh. What the hell was going on?
'This is so stupid.' She thought to herself, sitting down on the bed.
Japanese:
Koyo= autumn leaves.
Fuku= Uniform, I have seen it translated as clothes though, but not as often as uniform.
O soji= the cleanup students are expected to participate in
Rikugien= A park in the middle of Tokyo. One of the best places for Koyo, and the best time to see the Koyo would be late
November.
Tantei= If you don’t know this one it’s detective. Most YYH fans should know it. And if you didn’t, now you do.
Minna-san= Everyone. I think it can also be spelt with one N.
Goshikipai-naku= the proper way to say ‘Don’t worry about it.’ Yes I know I’ve been lazy with my translations ^^’
Notes:
Half a day of school- In Japan students go to school on Saturday for half a day. They also go to school 60 days more than an
average American. (I’m not sure about Canadians though, for all I know I could go to school the same amount of days as them
:P …Most likely not.) There’ll be more on the education system as we go alone, it just doesn’t fit in here.
About Yusuke’s city. From what I have seen so far, the name is not mentioned. If it is, I’m sorry, but I’m going with what I
wrote. Since it’s not mentioned, I just placed him in Tokyo. It made it easier to have the Koyo celebration and stuff :P
If you could call it a school uniform- From what I’ve seen the school uniform for Sara is a dark blue for the guys, light
blue for the girls. The only exceptions are Yusuke, who wears the green one, and Kuwabara, who wears a light blue one.
I know that Kurama uses –kun for Kuwabara but I’m not sure about Yusuke. So I’m just going to stick with how I have it. ^^’
Yes, I am too lazy to go and figure it out.
Yay plot^.~ You should be able to guess what makes Tora different now. I'm not going to give it out yet but I will in the
next few chapters.
Oh yes…And this chapters delay was due to Saiyuki ^^’ Yay Saiyuki! … Yeah…

If you could call it a school uniform- From what I’ve seen the school uniform for Sara is a dark blue for the guys, light
blue for the girls. The only exceptions are Yusuke, who wears the green one, and Kuwabara, who wears a light blue one.
I know that Kurama uses –kun for Kuwabara but I’m not sure about Yusuke. So I’m just going to stick with how I have it. ^^’
