Chapter Seven: A Very Long Flight... Continued
Kaline's POV
Botan's excited squealing brought my attention away from Kurama. We were in the middle of the kiss, and he sensed my distraction. Pulling away, he gave me a questioning look.
"What is Botan making all that noise about?" I muttered under my breath, unhappy about the strange interruption. She had probably done that just to get me to stop kissing Kurama. She knew how curious I was, and she was most likely using that fact to her advantage.
Kurama looked across the aisle and began to chuckle. "Hmmm... I never knew that Hiei was sweet on Cassie."
I stared at Kurama for a moment. "What?!" I exclaimed, refusing to believe what he had just said. Wanting proof, I looked around the kitsune and saw something that made my jaw drop.
Cassie had fallen asleep, her head phones around her neck, and her head on Hiei's shoulder. Hiei had fallen asleep as well, and his head had somehow ended up leaning against Cassie's. They looked so sweet, especially since they were both asleep. Even the fire demon didn't look evil or angry at the moment.
"Awww..." I whispered, giggling as a cruel idea hit me. "Now if they'll just stay asleep long enough for me to do it..." I had such an evil plan. Man, was I bad. Hiei and Cassie would kill me later, but... oh, well. It was too good of a chance to pass up.
I picked up my little purse off of the floor and pulled out a disposable camera. With a wink at Kurama, I got out of my seat and picked the best vantage point. I smiled deviously and snapped a few pictures of my friend and Hiei in their compromising situation.
"That should be enough," I said to myself, going back to my seat and putting my camera away.
"What was all that for?" Kurama asked me, voice very quiet.
"Blackmail," I replied, giggling. "Don't tell either of them yet, okay?" He nodded his head. "I don't want any of you people to breath a word of any of this to Hiei or Cassie, alright?" My voice was commanding as I ordered all my friends to keep silent. They would ruin the surprise if they told Hiei or Cassie before I could get the film developed.
Everyone nodded their heads nervously. "Um... yeah. Sure... Anything you say, Kaline."
Only Yukina seemed to not realize how deadly my tone was. She just smiled. "Why?" Her innocence was on full blast.
"Because that would take all the fun out of it," I replied, grinning from ear to ear. "So please don't tell either Hiei or Cassie that I took a picture of them."
"Okay," Yukina replied, smiling naively.
"Thank you," I told her sweetly, very glad that she wasn't going to tell. I didn't want to die before I even got a chance to see how the pictures would turn out.
Feeling very smug and devious, I cuddled up next to Kurama and rested a hand on his chest. That was a very warm and very comfortable position, and I wasn't planning on moving for any reason.
Of course, someone just had to snap a picture of Kurama and me right then. "Sorry, but it was such a perfect moment," Botan said cheerfully, a really big smile on her face. "I couldn't resist... especially after you took that picture of Hiei and Cassie."
I chuckled at Botan, not really annoyed at all. We were boyfriend and girlfriend, so there was nothing wrong with us cuddling. I wasn't a big fan of getting my picture taken, but I was willing to let the ferrygirl get away with that.
With a sigh, I looked over at my friend and the fire demon. They both made the cutest couple... "Kurama, do you think that it's possible..." I nodded my head in Cassie's direction. "That they could ever get together? They look perfect together."
"Hmmm..." Kurama replied, studying the two sleeping people for a moment. He then looked at me, doubt on his face.
"Nah," I said as he shook his head in total agreement. "There's no way."
"I don't think that Hiei's going to be very happy when he wakes up," he commented, chuckling. The rumble in his chest vibrated in my ear, making me giggle. "Find something funny, do you?"
I snuggled a little closer, rubbing my cheek against his chest. "That tickled a little. Your laughing... I could feel it, and it tickled."
His chuckling progressed into sincere laughter as he kissed me on the top of my head. "My love, you are certainly entertaining today," Kurama said, hugging me to him tightly. "First you take a picture of Hiei and Cassie while they're... like that." He glanced over at the two. "Then you giggle when I start laughing at them. These two weeks are going to be so much fun."
I sighed happily, in perfect agreement with him. "You do know that Hiei's going to freak out once he wakes up and destroy this wonderful, peaceful atmosphere?"
"I do. It is most unfortunate for us," he replied. "But at least it will be funny."
I was wrong though. Hiei wasn't the one to break the silence... Keiko was.
"Yusuke Urameshi!" Keiko exclaimed in disgust as a loud slapping sound resounded throughout the area.
"Ouch," Yusuke groaned, obviously in a little pain. Keiko hit hard, very hard; and Yusuke was never able to stop the incoming slap that always resulted from a rude comment on his part.
"Poor Urameshi," Jin said sympathetically to Touya. "It sounds like his lass is beating on him good."
"Considering the comment he made to the girl, I think that it was deserved," Touya responded mildly. "Although I wonder if she woke up Hiei or the new girl."
When Touya said that, I turned my head and looked across the aisle. Hiei was still obviously asleep, but Cassie had woken up. I smiled, wondering how Cassie would react to the position she was in. It was certainly going to be interesting, and I was just waiting for her to say something. Her reaction was very different from what I expected though. I suppose that if I had really thought about her personality, then I wouldn't have been so surprised. I could only stare as Cassie did the least thing I ever thought she would do, and I mentally wondered, 'What is that girl thinking?'
