Chapter 12: Jessica's Great Escape

A great sigh escaped Jessica’s lips as the train sped towards San Francisco. Leaving was the best idea she ever had. At least now she didn’t have to worry if she was going to be able to walk the next day.

She felt bad that she left without telling someone she was leaving but if she would have waited any longer someone [Sesshoumaru] would have stopped her. So she grabbed her stuff [with Jay hiding in a duffle bag], bought a bus ticket at one of the other casinos to Sacramento and went from there. A few days next to the ocean and she’d feel a little better.

Maybe.

“I told you not to push her damnit!” Inu Yasha yelled, completely infuriated that this had happened. So far Sesshoumaru had ignored him and his ranting, but sooner or later he was going to have to listen to him.

It had been almost two days since Jessica left for parts unknown, she had called yesterday to tell her parents that she was okay but other than that no one had see or hear from her since then. Everyone was on edge at the moment, and Roxxane wasn't helping at all. If Roxxane blames me one more time for this I'm gonna hurt her! Inu Yasha thought as everyone entered the room.

Once everyone was seat Sesshoumaru started, "When Jessica called did she give any indication of where she was?"

Tammy shook her head, since it was her that answered the phone call. "No, but the caller ID said she was in Sacramento at the time... But that just means she was at the train station, she could be anywhere by now."

"We'd know where she was if somebody was doing their job..." Roxxane muttered.

"Damnit, this isn't my fault!" Inu Yasha yelled back at her, everyone blamed him when something happened to Jessica. It was hard to keep track of a woman that attracted more trouble than anyone he'd ever known, and that included Kagome. "She needed some space, how were we to know she was gonna run for it?!"

"Enough," Sesshoumaru called. He was tired of the two of them fighting, that's all they had done the last two days and it was giving him a headache. "Is there anywhere she would go to...?”

"To escape all this?" Roxxane asked in a sarcastic tone. "She'd go back home."

"Home? Why the hell would she go back to Pacifica?" Inu Yasha asked, mildly irritated that she'd bring up that place. As far as he knew Jessica hated that place almost as much as she hated Tahoe, and the new light shed on it hadn't helped either.

"Because you dumbass it's the one place she has friends at!" Roxxane exclaimed. "If you paid any attention to what Jessica said to you you'd know that by now!"

Inu Yasha flinched that the accusation, but continued, "Then it'd be that last place she'd wanna go if she hiding from us!"

"I think you're underestimating how loyal Jessica's friends were to her...." Kevin said, trying to stop the two of them from arguing. "The only reason in the first place they came to us with her memory problem was because they were worried that she was getting sick. If it hadn't been for that they'd never say anything that Jessica herself didn't want us to know."

"I bet you a hundred bucks that she's there..." Roxxane goaded. She was pretty sure she was right, but she hoped she wasn't wrong either. She didn't have a hundred bucks to bet.

Unable to turn a challenge down, he answered, "Deal."

Of course, Jessica wasn't really in Pacifica. She was staying at a friend's house in San Bruno [which is right next to Pacifica if you look at a map]. When she called Adam, the one friend that still talked to her at the time, and told him that she'd left her house and was staying in Pacifica for a few days till things cooled down he made a few phone calls. Next thing she knew she was staying at her old friend Tiffany's house, who she hadn't spoken to in five years. It seemed all of her old friends that seen the new footage and wanted to know what the hell was going on [after everyone except Adam got over her blonde hair, he already knew about her hair]. Only a few were there at the moment but there were promises that others would come over as soon as possible.

So she did the only thing she could think, she opened her bag to let Jay out of his bag and told them everything.

"Jessie, I know you get into trouble a lot but this is bad even for you," Laura said, looking over at Jay as he cooed softly to Jessica from his perch behind her. Jessica was currently staring into a bowel of ice cream her and Tiffany kept for such an emergency, not knowing that it’d be used for an emergency like this. Derrick and Adam were sitting on the ground in front of her while Tiffany and Laura sat on each side.

"Does anyone even know why your..." Derrick stopped himself from saying 'your brother', "... why Sephiroth is kidnapping these people?"

"No... just that he is and Hojo's there... God I hate the both of them for this..." Jessica mumbled into her hands. The stress from everything was driving her insane, and in her family that was a bad thing. "With everything that's going on and the TV reports and Sesshoumaru and his damn training all I could think of was to just leave..."

"Don't worry, Luna-mama and I will make you feel all better... we'll color your hair back to normal and take you to the mall," Laura started babbling, all the while clinging to Jessica in a slightly suggestive way, "Then we'll have a talk with Lord Fluffy and tell him not to treat you like that no more!"

"Okay...?" Jessica could only think to say as everyone started to laugh at Laura's antics. Sometimes I wonder if she's related to Miroku.... Jessica thought as Adam's cell phone began to ring.

Inu Yasha still had his doubts about this. Here they were, attempting to call one of Jessica friends when they should be thinking of a plan. After much prodding they got a number from Roxxane, a friend of Jessica's, who might know where Jessica was. Inu Yasha had his doubts, but then again he didn't want to lose to a kid.

Again speaker phone was coming in handy, Sesshoumaru wanted to call this person himself but Roxxane convinced him that they wouldn't talk if it was with them. So Roxxane made the call with everyone listening.

"Hello~?" It was a man that answered, confused on why the number was calling him by the tone of his voice.

Roxxane perked up and answered, "Hey Adam, it's Roxxane..." Clearly she was uncomfortable calling the guy cause she didn't look at all happy it.

"Hey Roxxane. ...Where are you calling from, I've never seen this number before..."

"Uuuuhhhhh... yeah, you see..." Roxxane wasn't sure what to say, and the look on Sesshoumaru’s told her not to say anything, so she skipped the question entirely, "Jessica's missing and I was wondering if you heard from her at all..." There was a long pause, the 'Adam' on the other end not saying anything and Roxxane not sure if she should push him to answer.

He started saying,"Uhhh... I haven't...-" but was suddenly cut off by another's voice.

"WE WILL NOT HAND OVER JESSIE UNTIL OUR DEMANDS ARE MET~!!!!" It was a woman this time; from the sound of it she was either drunk or just hyper. Again you could hear voices on the other end, but Inu Yasha had a good idea that it was because she had just given Jessica's hiding place away. Then he realized that he was going to have to give up a hundred bucks to Roxxane for being right. He was going to have to remember never to bet her anything ever again... considering she was doing a victory dance as she left the room to tell her parents Jessica was fine.

"If you have her then return her,” Now Sesshoumaru was the one talking; Inu Yasha wondered how longer it'd take him to make the situation worse.

Not long, apparently.

"No way! If we send her back you make her train more and I'm lookin at the wounds from the last time she sparred with you right now, and they're not pretty!!!"

Sesshoumaru's eye twitched at the accusation, but Inu Yasha knew it was true. Jessica was in a hell of a lot of pain the last time he saw her, but she didn't want to say anything. If I say anything he'll call me weak and make it harder... He would have thought after her broken ribs someone would have taken a better look at her, but since what she'd said was right Inu Yasha thought it better not to say anything. That was why he had been trying to stop his brother before she had up and left.

"AND~! We're dying her hair back to normal!!!!!"

"Okay, that wasn't our fault; Rin had her dress up as one of the characters from Fullmetal Alchemist for Halloween and dyed her hair blonde against her will..."

“…Really!!!? OMG, Jessie do you have a picture of that!?” The phone on the other end was dropped suddenly and they could hear crashes over the loud muffles of yelling. By the sound of it the woman on the phone tackled Jessica…. Or Jessica threw something at her.

“I do not think you understand how important that she continues her training…” Sesshoumaru growled.

“We understand completely how important this is… It’s the fate of this world and theirs…” Another new person had the phone this time, the woman’s voice every inch as cold as Sesshoumaru’s. “We were the ones that introduced her to the video game. You don’t seem to understand that there’s only so far you can push Jessica before she walks away. So she’s not leaving us until we’re sure she’s better.”

“Luna-mama is soooo scary when she’s mad!! Don’t worry Jessie-koi; Pepsi-chan still loves you~!”

“Laura let go! And I wasn’t walking away; I just couldn’t take the stress anyway! I’d like to see how you’d handle getting you ass kicked by a demon that shouldn’t be real everyday for twelve hours straight!!!” Finally Jessica had said something. Even if it was only in the background.

“Jessica, you must return-” Sesshoumaru started, hell bent on bringing her back. But Inu Yasha had other planes.

“Hey does she have Jay with her?” Inu Yasha called over his brother. He ignored the scathing look Sesshoumaru gave and focused on the phone.

“If you mean the little blue dragon that looks like it’s going to eat Laura for touching Jessica right now, then yes, it is here.”

“Jay is not an ‘it’ he’s a he!!!!” Jessica yelled back at Adam, who now had the phone. There was an accompanying screech from said dragon, he wasn’t old enough to speak but he didn’t like being called a dumb animal.

“Then she’s fine, you shouldn’t have to worry about Sephiroth trying to turn her into a mind zombie. Just make sure she calls her parents later so her sister stops blaming this on me….” As a second thought, he added “Is that fine with you Sesshoumaru?”

Sesshoumaru was silent for a moment. Inu Yasha had a good idea that he was realizing that Jessica’s friends weren’t letting her come back till she was ready too. “She has three days to return before I force her to come back…”

There was a squeal on the other end, causing both demons to flinch. “See Jessie, that’s why I think Inu Yasha’s the cutest!!!!” Somebody groaned in the background, causing her to continue, “Don’t say that Jessie, you think he’s cute too!”

"I do not!!! I THINK HE'S A PAIN IN MY ASS!!!!!!"

Sorry it took so long guys, I got sick and didn't type much so forgive the lateness!!! [Just think of this chapter as a filler before more fighting].
