Ken fell asleep somewhere around 2:30AM still at TK's side. One of the doctors on the night shift came in and covered him with a blanket when they came in to check up on TK.

He had the same nightmare again that he's had for the past couple of months where TK disappears.

"Ken. Ken, you need to wake up!" A voice called out to him.

Ken was shaken awake, covered in sweat. He looked over to see Davis and Tai. He looked back at his unconscious lover, whom he was still holding his hand, than back the leaser and former leader of the Digidestined. He released his lover's cold hand and jumped at Tai, crying and trying to tell what happened.

"Shhh, it's all right, Ken. Everything's going to be okay. Just calm down." Tai petted Ken's silky hair trying calm him down.

Ken nodded and looked back at his beautiful lover, he sniffed and cleaned his eyes from his tears. "I'm just scared I might lose him again and I won't be able to help him."

"Don't worry, buddy. You can do it." Davis said proudly and smiling from ear to ear at the same time.

"Davis is right. There's nothing to worry about. We'll help you through it, too, so you won't be alone."

"Thanks, you guys." Ken glanced at his watch. "Oh, you guys are here really early."

"Not really. It's only 8. Besides we came in to see if you wanted something to eat and that's when we saw you having that nightmare." Tai explained.

"Oh, yeah that'll be great, but I don't…" Ken started but was cut off.

"We know you don't want to leave TK, Ken. Want us to bring you something?" Tai asked.

"Yeah, that'll be great. Anything will be fine, thanks." Ken turned around and took his seat again and TK's hand, soothing it with his thumb like he did the whole time the day before.

"Ok, theeeeeeeeeeeen…OW!!" Davis screeched.

Ken jumped up and looked around and saw Davis sprawled out on the floor.

A few doctors and nurses busted in through the door and took in the scene.

"What's going on in here? Why are you in here?" One of the doctors Ken recognized as one of the few doctors who came in a few more times than others to check on his lover.

"Well, you see, sir, we um. We came in to see if Ken wanted something to eat and we were just about to leave when Davis tripped on this blanket and yelled." Tai explained.

"Why was a blanket on the floor in the first place?" Another nurse asked.

"It was put on me last night after a fell asleep. I guess it slid off when I woke up and I didn't notice. I'm sorry." Ken squeaked.

"Well, you two aren't even supposed to be in here in the first place so why don't you get moving." A third doctor ordered.

Davis leaped up and walked quickly out the door. Tai followed, but before he walked out the door he turned to the same doctor. "If you don't mind, sir, could I come back in about fifteen minutes? I was going to get Ken something to eat and bring it to him."

"That'll be fine as long as it's only you and you don't stay too long. Visiting hours doesn't start for two hours."

Tai nodded and exited out through the door. The nurses and doctors left soon after a few minutes of talking, but one stayed.

Ken watched him with careful eyes.

"I was on my way to check up to see how you two were doing anyways." He reassured Ken after seeing the look in his eyes.

Ken nodded and sat back down, after picking up the blanket on the floor, next to TK, taking his hand once more.

"Everything seems fine here." The doc said after a few minutes of checking stuff and looking over TK like the others did before. "How `bout you?" He said turning to him.

Ken looked up with confusion in his eyes. "What…what do you mean, sir?"

"I'm sorry. I meant your arm. It looks like you need a new one. How `bout you?" He laughed pointing to his bandage with a few drops of dried blood that seeped through it.

"Oh, yes, sir. That'll be great. Thanks." Ken said looking back to his blonde beauty.

"Ok then, I'll be back in a minute."

Ken nodded and watched from the corner of his eye as the man with black hair and blue eyes left the room and closed the door.

Ken frowned as he kept his violet eyes on TK's closed blue ones. He faked a smile and tried talking to TK, hoping it would help himself to cheer up as much as TK to wake up. "You hear that, TK love? Davis is still the biggest goof ever. We all miss you, TK. We wish you would wake up. I promise you I'll stop making a big deal over stupid dreams and make you stop worrying over me even more than I do. I'll make sure our relationship is the best in the world no matter what." Ken couldn't go any further since he started to feel tears coming down. "Oh, TK" He started after a while with his tears still going down, "I'm so sorry. I've failed you. I've let you down. It's my entire fault you're like this. I wish it were me instead of you. Why'd it have to be you of all people?" Ken stayed liked that for a while longer before he heard the doorknob turn and he quickly wiped his tears away and fixed himself up the best he could.

The doctor from before stepped in with a new wrap bandage in hand.

"Here we go. I had to go all the way down to the E's but I found some. I guess we need some more."

Ken lifted his arm up and didn't watch the whole time his arm was cleaned re-bandaged.

"All done. I best am going now. Someone will be back in about ten minutes to check back up on you two."

Ken nodded and watched fully as the man left and Tai stepped in with a bag.

"Hey, how's everything?"

"Fine."

"Well, here." He handed the bag to Ken. "We got you a burger and fries. There's a soda in there too."

"Thanks, Tai."

"No problem. I better go before I get you or me into anymore trouble."

Ken nodded and looked back at TK, nibbling on his fries and sipping his drink every once in a while.

"What are we going to do until ten, you guys?" Izzy asked.

"I don't know. I'm just glad they're letting Ken stay with TK the whole time for today." Sora said.

"Yeah. Imagine how'd he be. Scared every second thinking of how TK's condition was and stuff like that. I wonder how they're both doing. I mean with Ken getting shot and all too." Cody said.

"You needn't worry about that either, Cody." Everyone looked to see Tai coming down the hall. "They're both fine. Ken just got his injury cleaned and bandaged again and TK's got a little bit of color back in cheeks."

"That's good to know." Matt said walking up next to Tai. They both wanted to hold each other, but two things were holding them back. One, they were in a public place and two; they hadn't even got around to telling their friends since their plans were interrupted.

"Well, let's not stay around here. Time will just seem to go slower if we do." Joe suggested.

"Good idea. Let's go." Kari agreed.

They all left and went in their own directions and agreed to meet up at ten back at the hospital. Davis followed Kari to the mall who was going with Yolei, Veemon was trudging behind him, Gatomon was being carried by Kari and Hawkmon was perched on Yolei's shoulder. Cody went off to the park with Joe, Armadillomon, and Gomamon. Tai, Matt, Agumon, and Gabumon went to the pizza place to just hang out and talk and since they're Digimon were the only other two people who knew about it besides TK, Ken, Wormon, and Patamon they could act however they wanted. Sora and Biyomon went with Izzy and Tentomon to pick up a couple surprises for Ken and TK, when he woke up.

About an hour later there was a knock on the door.

Ken opened it and was surprised to see Sora and Izzy with their Digimon with them.

"What are you doing here, guys? I thought you would have gone off and waste the two hours. You still have an hour to go."

"We thought you might like a bit of company that no one can really kick out." Sora smiled and stepped to the side. Standing next to Biyomon was Wormon.

"Yeah and since Wormon's here we thought another buddy would be perfect for you to talk to too. So how bout a little orange Digimon with wings and a white underside?" Gomamon joked as he hopped from Joe's arms and from behind his partner he pulled out Patamon.

"Yeah, thanks, you guys. I've been worried sick about them."

"You didn't need to worry, Ken. I was watching the house the whole time with Patamon and nothing ever went wrong." Wormon was proud to announce.

"Yeah, okay. You four better get moving before anyone sees you. Thanks again."

"No problem. See you in an hour." Joe and Sora waved goodbye alone with their partner Digimon.

The two rookies scampered in and Ken closed the door. Patamon flew up on top of TK's stomach and lay there; keeping him warm the best he could like he always did when TK was little. Wormon crawled into Ken's lap when he sat back down.

"You two are going to have to hide in the bathroom over there in about five minutes. In the shower part in case one of the doctors needs to go in there for a second to get something."

"Okay, Ken." Wormon nuzzled up against Ken's chest and dozed off.

Patamon just nodded. Obviously happy and content to know his partner and friend is safe.

About five minutes later Wormon and Patamon were woken up by Ken telling them to get to the bathroom and they did so just as the doorknob started to jiggle.

"Hey there, Ken. How's everything going?" The doctor, Dr. Shinzan, asked. Ken recognized him the most out of everyone he's seen come in. Sometimes he got to have long conversations while he was in there and other times it was just a short one, but they still always spoke to each other.

"Fine. Nothing's changed."

"Okay then. Just to let you know you're friends should be back in around 45 minutes when they come for visiting hours when they first start."

"Yes, I know. How's everything so far?"

"Fine, just fine. Hmm. According to these charts right here he's just sleeping now. That's good news, heh?" He smiled.

Ken's eyes brightened up. "You…you mean he's not unconscious anymore? Just sleeping?"

"Yup. That's exactly what I'm saying. If I didn't know any better I'd say it was because you've been in here the whole time. Have you been talking to him?"

"Well, sort of. I thought it might help."

"Who knows if it really does work at all? Anyways, if he does happen to wake up, could you come find one of us? I'm not sure if he'll wake up today though."

"Yeah, sure. That'll be no problem."

"Okay, then. I guess I better get going."

Ken thought for a minute and than spoke again. "Excuse me?"

"Hmmm?" He turned around.

"Do you think it's possible if I could stay here again tonight?" Ken asked with hope in his voice.

The doc was quiet for a minute, thinking. "Tell you what. I'll pull the strings needed for you to stay here one more night, but only if he doesn't wake up. How's that?"

"Yeah, that'll be great. Thanks."

"No problem. Gotta go now. Take care, kid. I'll be coming back in a half an hour to check back."

Ken nodded and let go of the breath he didn't know he was holding for that while. "That's good news."

"What is? We couldn't hear in there." Patamon asked, snuggling back up on TK's side. Wormon got back up and right into Ken's chest.

"TK's not unconscious anymore. He's just sleeping so if you two want to talk, just whisper so we don't wake him. He needs all the rest he can get."

"That is good news. No problem, Ken. When's that guy going to come back anyways?"

"He said in a half an hour, but if TK wakes up before than then I have to go find him and tell him."

"Oh, okay then." Patamon fell asleep soon after. Wormon the same.

Ken fell asleep too, joining his friends in their peaceful slumber.

"Hey, Ken, are you going to wake up anytime soon?" A voice called out to Ken in his sleep.

Ken just moaned and turned his head the other direction to escape whatever was calling to him.

"Come on, Ken. Don't be like that." The same voice groaned.

Ken felt like he was surrounded but was too tired to see if he was right.

"Leave him alone, Davis. You know as much as the rest of us he stayed up late last night. He's probably just tired and doesn't want to be disturbed." Another voice said to the first.

"Yeah, but, we're supposed to be visiting TK. He can't exactly do that with us if he's asleep right next to him."

"You dumb brain!" A female voice said this time. "He's been here half the day yesterday and all morning today, not to mention most of last night until Kami knows when he fell asleep. He's had more visiting time than the rest of us. Just leave him be so he can rest. The rest of us will just have to keep the noise level down so we don't wake him."

Ken cracked an eye. He then opened both eyes. He didn't move but looked around the best he could. He hadn't been moved from where he fell asleep, but the blanket that Davis had tripped on earlier that day had been placed back over him. Probably from one of the doctors…Doctors!

Ken jumped up and looked around to see the astonished faces of his friends. "Where's Wormon and Patamon?!"

"Whoa, slow down there, Ken. What's wrong?"

"Dr. Shinzan said he'd be back in a half an hour. If you guys are here that means he already was in here to check on TK because that would mean I've been asleep for the past hour if not more. Patamon and Wormon were sleeping too. What if he saw them?"

"Don't get your cookies crumbling, Ken. Patamon and Wormon are fine. See, look there on the bed."

Ken looked and sure enough there they were.

"But how?"

"I woke up when I heard the door opening and remembered when you told me he'd be coming back. I woke up Wormon and went to hide back in the bathroom like you told us."

Ken released the breath he'd been holding. "Thank goodness. I'm glad he didn't see you. How'd I explain that I have no idea. So what time is it?"

"Just like you said. You'd been asleep for the past hour. It's just a little after ten." Izzy announced.

"Oh, did you guys hear the news from one of the doctors outside?" Ken smiled, hoping he'd be the one to tell them the news.

"No, what's wrong?" Matt asked concerned, Tai, hiding it from the others, squeezed his hand in comfort.

"Nothing's wrong, Matt. You guys, TK's not unconscious anymore. Dr. Shinzan told me he came out of it and he's been sleeping for the past few hours. He doesn't know if he'll wake up today or not, but at least we know he's trying to make it."

"That's great! I knew my little bro would pull through."

"Yeah, but I don't know if he has woken up yet or not and then fell back to sleep since I went to sleep as well. And I don't know if his condition has changed at all."

"That's ok. One of the docs that were just leaving when we first came in said he's doing better. They said they've started to feed him something a little stronger that will give him the nutrition he needs now." Joe smiled.

"That's good."

It was a silence after that. Not an uncomfortable silence and the only thing that could be heard was the slight beeping noise of the heart monitor.

"Hey, something's up with TK." Pataman broke the silence.

Everyone looked at TK at that and were surprised at what they saw. TK was moving. He shifted a few times and then turned to his side. He turned once more a few seconds later and finally was found comfortable on his back the way he was before he started moving. Slowly and surely his eyes had blinked.

"Tai, someone, go find one of the doctors and tell them TK's waking up. Hurry go." Ken ordered and went to TK's side, tears in his eyes from being happy that his love was finally waking up.

TK blinked again and than opened his eyes completely. Ken looked right into them and nearly keeled over to die. He backed away from TK as fast as he could and ran straight into Matt.

"What's wrong, Ken?" Matt held him as he looked back happily to his brother before he saw what Ken had seen.

TK's eyes were dull and had nothing in them. No emotion. No oceans, lakes, puddles, even the trace of a small rain cloud. They were expressionless just like in Ken's nightmares. The same eyes that he feared to ever see again. That's why Ken had backed away. He saw the eyes and realized, or so he thought, he had lost TK before even trying.

Tai came in through the door with Dr. Shinzan closely behind.

"Hello there, TK. Your friends have been very worried about you." He said gently.

TK scooted back the best he could and sat up, not taking his empty eyes off any of the D-D's.

`I have to get out of here.' Ken thought and he went for the door before anyone could stop him. Matt and Tai went after him and followed him out the building and into the park where he dropped to his knees by the bridge.

"Ken?" Ken looked up and saw the couple approaching him.

"I can't do it, you guys. I can't help the one I love if his eyes are like that! They scare me. I won't be able to do anything if I'm too busy crying over there. That nightmare I told you about earlier, Tai. Those were the eyes that were on TK's face in that dream except ten times worse. How am I going to help them if they remind me of that dream and in that dream I lose him and can't get him back. It's impossible!" Ken blurted out.

"We know how you feel, Ken. We all want the old TK back. We want his eyes to be blue again but in order to have that again we need you to help TK. You're still the only one who can do the most and best of the job on him. You love him, Ken, and even if he doesn't know it right now or whatever, deep down inside he remembers the love you gave him. The love he gave you. And deep down in that same spot he'll find it as long as you're there helping him and we'll have him back. You'll have him back and you two can be together again. Isn't that what you want?" Matt asked.

"Of course, but I don't know if I can now. I believed in myself, but what about now."

"Didn't somebody once say that you have nothing to fear but fear itself? Well it's true. Fear is just something that's evil and picks on people when it can do its worst. You love TK and you lost him so the fear is coming for you. Now what do you want to do?"

"I want TK back."

"And get him back you will, my friend. Now clean up your tears and this time let's walk back to the hospital, walk into TK's room, and see what to do from there. Ok?"

Ken nodded and cleaned himself the best he could. He, Matt, and Tai walked back into the hospital and back into TK's room.

Ken took his first step into the biggest challenge he thought he would ever take as he looked at TK and into those shallow, empty eyes that were no longer blue and he could no longer look into and get lost for the good of it.
