Vegeta woke again, and took in his surroundings. Daylight was near, but the room was still slightly dark. Goku was shifting in bed, seeming as if he was close to waking, too. The younger Saiyan turned around to face Vegeta. The prince met the gaze of the other Saiyan. There were no words between them, and nothing that either of them could think to say. Goku leaned in close to the older Saiyan and kissed him softly on the lips. Vegeta trembled, and pulled back at first, but then he somehow found himself kissing back. Goku pulled the other Saiyan closer into his arms, deepening the kiss. The younger Saiyan shifted his body, now lying on top of Vegeta. He moved the prince's legs apart with his hips, and his hard erection was now pressing up against Vegeta. Then, the older Saiyan…woke up?
It was daylight now. Vegeta trembled a bit at what he had just experienced in his dream. He couldn't believe it was only a dream, because it felt very real. The prince looked over at Goku. Still asleep. He wondered if the younger Saiyan would sleep in his bed with him every night as long as he stayed here. Vegeta had mixed feelings about the thought of the other Saiyan sleeping in his bed with him all the time. Shoving that thought aside, the Saiyan prince rose from bed and went about his morning routine. He was already done showering and was in the kitchen, having just finished his orange juice when Goku walked into the room, still messy from slumber. The prince laughed inwardly.
“Are you always this lazy, Kakarot?”
The groggy Saiyan looked over at Vegeta, barely coherent when he tried to speak, “Uh…sometimes?” The older Saiyan handed him a glass of orange juice.
Suddenly, the phone rang. Vegeta looked over at the phone, but didn't move. He really didn't care who it was at all. He had no one to talk to. Goku looked at Vegeta.
“Are you going to answer that, Vegeta?” The younger Saiyan looked at the prince curiously.
Vegeta huffed, and went over to pick up the annoying ringing device he despised so.
“What?” He answered rather rudely, a heavy helping of annoyance apparent in his voice.
“Vegeta? This is Gohan. Is my father there with you?” said the voice on the other side, sounding a bit upset and concerned.
“Yes, he is,” said Vegeta rather impatiently, wanting Kakarot's son to get to the point of his calling.
“Can I talk to him, please?”
Vegeta held the phone out towards Goku. The younger Saiyan cocked his head to the side, wondering for a moment whom it could be. He realized he hadn't told anyone he was coming over here to stay with Vegeta, so it then became obvious why the phone would be for him. Goku took the phone from Vegeta and put it up to his ear.
“Yes?” he spoke a little quietly.
“Dad? Have you been over there for these past couple days?” asked Gohan a bit annoyed sounding himself now.
“Yes, I have. Is there a problem?” Goku thought Gohan to be acting a bit odd, as he usually was respectful of his father and never interrogated him like this.
“Well…no. I mean… Are you two…umm…involved?” Gohan was very reluctant to say what he was thinking, and it took him a moment to search for inoffensive or rude words.
“What? No, why are you asking that? I'm here because Vegeta needs my company in his time of loss, nothing more. I'm staying with him until he feels better, okay?” Goku hung up the phone and turned to look at Vegeta.
The prince had a look on his face that Goku couldn't quite place. It seemed as if he was a bit troubled by something. The look quickly disappeared in the older Saiyans effort to close off his emotions. Vegeta turned around and walked out the door leading outside. The younger Saiyan followed him outside quickly, wondering what he was thinking at that moment; was he mad at Goku, was he upset, what was going on?
“Vegeta…Are you okay?” The prince just shuddered a bit at the other Saiyan's words.
He didn't turn around as he spoke, “Do I have to ask…what your son was inferring about you being here with me? Am I right in assuming…”
“Yes. I'm sorry, Vegeta. Maybe I should have told him I was leaving for awhile… But it doesn't matter. I don't really care what he thinks.”
“So be it…” Vegeta hesitated, searching for words though none came to his mind.
He couldn't place this feeling he was experiencing; he just felt like going away for awhile. The prince's body turned to face the younger Saiyan and he fixed his eyes upon him. It was amazing how open he could be about his feelings, yet at the same time just a mystery to the prince. Vegeta still couldn't place why the other Saiyan had decided to come and stay with him, and there was an uneasiness rising in him regarding Goku's true motives.
“Kakarot…I need to think about something. I'm leaving for awhile. Don't follow me.” Vegeta flew off into the air.
The Saiyan prince landed in a serene area in the middle of nowhere, far away from any civilization. He let his thoughts wonder and his mind rage on, battling itself. His thoughts drifted to what the younger said to Gohan on the phone.
I'm staying here because Vegeta needs my company in his time of loss, nothing more.
Nothing more? Did he feel like this was something he was required to do? Did he want to be here?
I'm staying until he feels better, okay?
What was better? What if Vegeta never felt better? What if Kakarot thought he was better and left…what if he didn't come back? No, Vegeta didn't think he could take that. Damn it. What was this odd feeling, familiar, yet unwelcome? Why did Vegeta give a rat's ass whether or not that fool was ever around?
Because you care about him.
No, that's not true…is it?
Why don't you just admit you would be dead already if he weren't here?
Why? Because I don't want to need someone else to depend on. I only want to rely on myself, so I won't be let down. He might leave after he feels like I'm okay, but I don't want him to. I'll get hurt then.
You could tell him how you feel. Maybe then he would stay.
Keyword, maybe. What if he doesn't care? I may be reading him wrong. I don't want to be disappointed.
You'll never know if you don't say anything to him.
Enough of this, I'm tired of listening to myself argue. Vegeta flew off into the air after he had put his debate to rest.
While Vegeta was gone, Goku had cleaned up himself. He didn't know what do to after that. The light-hearted Saiyan just kind of sat around. A door opened, and the Saiyan looked quickly in the direction of the noise, his hopes rising in anticipation of Vegeta's return. Unfortunately, it wasn't Vegeta, but his son. He looked very serious as he approached Goku. The full-blooded Saiyan was instantly intimidated by the half-Saiyan's look.
Trunks sat down next to him and started to speak, “Goku…I need to talk to you.”
“Uh…what is it?” said Goku, a bit scared.
“I just wanted to get on common ground with you. I don't take you for a bad or ill-intentioned person at all, but I am concerned. You seem to be getting very close to my father… It is baffling me, really. Why he would let stay herewith him, let you be so close to him and not put up a fight. I just want you to know that he is not what he seems to be all the time. I wouldn't count on his generosity lasting long; you know he has a short temper. You're going to dig yourself in a hole too deep trying to get too close to him, and you might even ruin what friendship you have when trying to start a new relationship. Besides, don't you think he's been through enough already?” Trunks spoke with the utmost seriousness in his voice.
Goku looked at him, baffled. It seemed both him and Gohan were in on this scheme. They seemed to think there was something between Vegeta and himself, when there wasn't. He was beginning to think the two were going together to try and get their fathers to spend less time together. They didn't want to have some odd relationship going on between them. Well, Goku knew he didn't need Trunks or Gohan's advice on how to live his life, or how to govern his relationship with Vegeta, no matter what the level of the relationship.
“Trunks, you don't have to worry about anything. Vegeta and I can take care of ourselves. No matter what you think, I know that Vegeta won't go sour on me like you think. I'd appreciate if you'd trust me on this one; I know what I'm doing, and I'm not going to hurt Vegeta. I am trying to help him, you know.”
The younger demi-Saiyan raised a brow. “Okay, Goku. I'm sorry I questioned your motives. I'll leave you two be then…” Trunks walked out the door.
Once outside, another person appeared in front of Trunks.
“Well, what happened?” asked the person.
Trunks lowered his head in defeat as he spoke, “It looks like he's going to be stubborn about this. I think we'll just have to think of something else. We can't just let them forget about our mothers so easily…Gohan, we'll figure out something.”
Gohan and Trunks flew off into the air, their destination unknown.
Goku didn't know what to think of his visit from Trunks at all. He seemed as if he was trying to get the earthly Saiyan to leave, even though he is the one who asked for help in the first place? Did this have anything to do with what the young Saiyan had walked in on the other day? Was he angry because he thought Vegeta didn't care about the death of Bulma? There was something going on, that was for sure. Goku knew he couldn't let his guard down for the time being. A noise startled his thoughts. This time it was Vegeta, who walked in the room and sat on the couch close by Goku. He looked into the younger Saiyan's eyes, searching them for the true intentions within. The prince still was unsure if he should try to express his worries, but he had to try.
He questioned Goku, “Are you leaving…When you are satisfied that I'm okay?”
The younger Saiyan looked at Vegeta a bit puzzled. He recalled what he'd said earlier on the phone to Gohan upon the older Saiyan's question. Was that what had bothered him? Was he afraid of being alone?
“Well, I suppose so. My purpose being here would be done, but not my friendship with you, Vegeta…”
Hesitation gleamed in the older Saiyan's eyes. “What if…if I said I didn't want you to go? Would you stay if I asked?”
Goku didn't have to think about his answer, it just came out of his mouth, “Yes. I wouldn't leave if you didn't want me to.”
The younger Saiyan could see the prince's eyes light up for a moment. He was pleased with the answer Goku had given. Good. The last thing the other Saiyan wanted was for his prince to be upset.
“Vegeta…you care about me, too, don't you? Even though you don't like to show it…”
“Hey…don't get that mushy on me, now,” said Vegeta quickly as not to be exposed.
“Oh, fine. I won't make you admit it…yet!” said the younger Saiyan with a bit of sarcasm, tackling Vegeta and pinning him down on the couch.
“Hey, what are you doing that for?! I'll make you pay for that!” Vegeta pushed and struggled under Goku's heavier body pressing down on him, gaining the advantage after a moment and turning the tables so that he was now pinning down the younger Saiyan.
“Ha! What are you going to do now? I'm not going to let you get out of this one without a fight!” Vegeta was quite pleased he'd overcome Kakarot.
Goku didn't struggle at all, as if he didn't care about getting free. He just smiled at Vegeta. The prince raised a brow in confusion. Why didn't he care if he was being held against his will? Or was he?
“You suck. It isn't anything fun for me if you don't even care…”
“Hehe…Maybe I like it,” said Goku softly in Vegeta's ear.
The prince shivered when he felt the other Saiyan's words float into his ear. The younger Saiyan wrapped his arms around Vegeta, bringing him closer and making him relax a bit. Goku's eyes met the other Saiyan's. Vegeta's eyes were confused, unsure, but calm, while Goku's were completely relaxed. The younger Saiyan pressed his lips against the prince's, who was a bit taken back by this sudden expression of affection. The Saiyan prince slowly sank into the kiss himself, for reasons he didn't understand. He just knew it felt right at the moment. After a few moments, Goku broke the kiss between them.
“I'm sorry…I shouldn't have done that,” said the younger Saiyan with a guilty tone to his voice, assuming the prince would be mad at him.
“No…Don't be sorry…” That was all Vegeta said before initiating another kiss with the other Saiyan.
A/N: Well, that's it for now. Kind of short but it seemed like a good place to cut it off for now. Don't worry I'm not out of ideas yet! Hopefully I'll have another full chapter by the end of this week, if not the beginning of the next week. Let me know what you all think! I love to hear from my readers!
