Chapter 11
"A few more days like this and this planet will be history." Napa laughed, as another blast leveled the hillside where the last of the scaly black lizards had just gone to escape the morning sunrise. "This planet is certainly nothing to worry about anymore. To bad Radditz couldn't see this!! What a great day… no more De Arran, no more Dodoria- can't get much better than this, can it?"
Vegeta said nothing as he destroyed the orb, and as he changed back, he continued to look into the heavens. The sun was just beginning to chase away the mist and the clouds drifting slowly overhead were alive with fire across the horizon. The warmth and color of the sun's first rays made Vegeta think of the princess he had spent the night with and he growled, willing his thoughts not to return to her. He had enough to think about here… but he knew that he'd have to go back to Frieza sooner or later and when he did, he'd find himself stuck with a marriage he didn't want much less have time for. Why couldn't he have told her no and walked out of there? Why couldn't she have been afraid of him- at least then he would've been able to stay away from her… True- Frieza's henchmen would've ridiculed him even more than normal, but at least he wouldn't have rape on his conscience. Why did she have to be so beautiful- and so sensual?
"My prince??" Napa asked, placing a giant hand on Vegeta's shoulder. "Vegeta? What is the ma-"
"I'm fine." Vegeta snapped, shrugging Napa away.
"At least tell me what is on your mind. My Prince, you should be happy that we got rid of that fat…"
"Yes finally Dodoria is dead- and I truly hope you get indigestion from that Napa, but Zarbon gets to tell Frieza whatever the hell he wants to about why."
"I-I was hungry- and anyway Zarbon seemed concerned about you, I don't understand-"
"I doubt it- Frieza's straight laced little lap dog just can't stand it when something happens that he doesn't know about."
Napa growled, but didn't press it. He knew better than to argue with Vegeta if he was in this sort of a mood. "I see your birthday party didn't do much to change your mood…"
"That from you?? At least I don't have to destroy something every five minutes or throw a temper tantrum." Vegeta spat. "Although, if you really must know, I am a little angry about what just happened with Frieza. My birthday present this year was a girl."
The huge Saiyan threw his head back and laughed.
Vegeta's expression darkened but Napa kept laughing. "It's not funny Napa since I'm going to have to marry her."
Napa stopped laughing abruptly. "What?? You can't marry any woman who doesn't have Saiyan blood and why would Frieza tell you to marry a slave anyway?"
"The girl isn't a slave."
"Of course she was a slave, she's just some newly captured girl that was given a long dead title and then brought in with the others. Back at the barracks I heard Dodoria say that Frieza was going to bring out all the pleasure slaves in his harem- including the newly captured ones before Radditz and I left for De Arran. Frieza's had this planned for months and I..."
"Believe me, Napa they did make a lovely production out of filling the throne room with the harem- and I was just about to piss off Frieza when Zarbon came in. He was carrying a girl over his shoulder. They had been keeping her locked up and she escaped out of boredom. And Frieza was angry with her for getting out of her room on the ship. So he gave her to me."
"But who was she?"
"Her name is Shannelle, and she is the princess of the Elves."
"So what? You are a prince. I think its rather fitting, so why bother…"
"As a Princess from a territory that has been both peaceful and stable under Frieza's control for 13 years, Shannelle should have been treated as carefully and honorably as any other visiting dignitary would have been. Instead she was carried in flung over Zarbon's shoulder like a sack of grain. She had every right to be angry, but of course she couldn't have gotten away from him. Then as Frieza told her what we were all doing in there he told her that since she was so curious about everything- including men, that she was to be my birthday present. Before either of us could protest we were locked in one of the little closets that the slaves live in on the ship. Her mother is Frieza's personal mistress Napa, and I think the only one who doesn't know, is my fiancé."
"I don't understand how you can be so calm about this… You can't be expected to marry some whore's daughter…"
"You are such an idiot Napa. Remind me to just draw you a picture next time… I'm trying to tell you she isn't a whore or a slave, and neither is her mother. Frieza's mistress was the Empress of Talon before she met Frieza. Years ago the elves went to war with his Empire and they lost. The Empress had a daughter who was also captured and it sounds to me as if Frieza was using the girl to keep her mother in line, and in his bed."
"Oh… so she wasn't just some whore that Frieza decided to give a made up title to? Hey, wait a second- the Empress of Talon? You know, I think I've heard of her. Her name is Shinesta, right? Dodoria has seen her, talks about her all the time. She can't be that beautiful, though can she? I mean the way he carried on in the barracks; you'd think she was sculpted in pure gold or something."
"Dodoria was an even bigger idiot than you are- but if the little birthday present that Frieza gave me, got her looks from her mother, then you might think so."
Napa raised one eyebrow and tossed aside the leg of lizard he was eating. "She's that pretty? Dodoria wasn't just full of it? What does she look like?"
"I'm sure you'll get to meet my fiancée when we get back. Don't look at me like that I don't want to talk about this right now…"
"B-but…"
"I said no, Napa. I'm done thinking about her. The whole situation was stupid and none of it should have happened to start with… Did eating Dodoria damage your brain that badly?"
"I was hungry, in Orrazuu; I didn't know any better." Napa grumbled, looking like an admonished child.
"I told you to spit that fat slob out," Vegeta shrugged.
"Well… I've eaten Noorians and Galactic Slug before, after that Dodoria wasn't too bad, a little chewy, but not too bad."
Vegeta laughed. "Well, finish eating and then get some sleep, we have to finish with this planet tomorrow, I have a feeling Frieza will be calling me back to court soon, to explain why you ate Dodoria as much as to have my wedding, and after I'm married I don't want to have to come back to this rat hole."
Napa laughed. "Yes sire. Hey, do they have food at Elven weddings??"
"How should I know? I just played with her a little- it's not like we actually had much time to talk."
**
Zarbon kissed Raya lightly; she gave a sleepy little moan and tried to push him away. Undeterred, he smirked and nibbled her neck as she started to roll over. He let her roll onto her stomach but took the pillow from her, and began slowly kissing her neck and shoulders, letting her feel each one, giving her body time to respond. Raya shivered, sleepily arching her back as he pressed himself against her from behind. She opened her legs for him, and Zarbon moved between them, but he only chuckled, sliding his hands down her body toward her hips, then back up to cup her breasts. She moaned softly as he lightly stroked the velvet peaks, making them hard. Her lithe body began to arch in catlike ecstasy, firmly pressing her backside against his arousal as one of his hands slipped between her legs. She was already slick with anticipation, but rather than enter her, he began to stroke the bud of her sex as he continued to kiss the back of her neck. The pleasure was exquisite but after the excess of the night before, she needed him immediately.
Raya shuddered, trying to move her body, to encourage him to take her, but he only nipped her ear playfully. She gasped, throwing her head back and closing her eyes as he slipped a finger into her. "Mmm," She moaned. "I think I'm too tired… but you always seem to know just how to wake me up."
"Hmm, little one, who's lacking stamina this time? Just out of curiosity though, how long were you going to wait to tell me that you have been manipulating time since we met?"
Raya cast an innocent look over her shoulder. "Well, if I hadn't told you last night; you still wouldn't know, but you can't expect a lady to give away all her secrets, can you? Besides, being able to spend several days at a time in the span of an hour isn't exactly what I'd call a bad secret… I mean look at all the fun we got to have all these years. You can't tell me that you never suspected something peculiar about the time we spent together… for instance how hungry you must have been when we finally had to get back to our duties?"
"Perhaps if you weren't so insatiable I might have had time to wonder exactly how long I had been with you every time." Zarbon chuckled, lying back down he pulled her on top of him. "Speaking of that though, I think I should go get some breakfast before I have to make my morning report."
She kissed him lightly and then giggled. "You should have left while I was asleep, because you are the only breakfast I want. But, I suppose this time I can conjure something for you…Hmm… what though?" Then she sat up and closed her eyes, after a moment, light began to shimmer around her hands finally materialized into an elegant silver tray. "I can't help myself," she giggled. "How about some fruit and cheese tarts for breakfast? Or those there, they have whipped cream in the middle."
"I haven't seen these since the last time I was at court- before the war." Zarbon sighed, looking at several dozen tiny, delicate triangular pastries decorated with frosting and stuffed with sweet fruits and sweet creamed cheese. And at the outer edge of the tray were some white frosted circular pastries with fluffy white whipped cream peaking out small holes in the sides of each one.
"Yes… and do you remember all the fun we had that morning with the whipped cream centers?" Raya giggled, but her smile dimmed as she sensed his regret. "Zarbon please, we have been through this before. It wasn't your fault. You were on another mission when that bastard delivered Frieza's so called ratified treaty. When you finally returned I showed it to you. You know there is simply no way Shinesta could have sighed it! We fought for the principles we believed in, honestly I thought we would last longer than we did, but it was destiny. We were meant to loose that time around. At least with the things that have happened since then, my people were much luckier than most. Our planet- our whole Empire still exists because of the sacrifice that our Empress made for her daughter."
"Yes. Talon is the largest and wealthiest state under Frieza's control. Trade continues unhindered by blockades or ridiculous security checks- even her Imperial Army and Navy still keep order in your borders, but with Shinesta exiled and the princess his prisoner… not to mention the governor that Frieza has in place there… well, even the Council of Mages and Shinesta's advisors can't help us without compromising their own positions."
"Governor?? How can you call him that?" Raya snorted, sitting up, she crossed her arms over her breasts and scowled. "Shetar is an Illithian, Zarbon! They practically invented slavery!! That bastard and his henchmen aren't fit to rule Kwanzaa let alone a respectable place like Talon. Illithians are terrible monsters, and age old enemies of the Elves. Even the Darklings feared them. How dare Frieza let their evil ruler have control over my lady's Empire?"
Zarbon sighed, putting an arm around her. "Frieza and I are both aware of Shetar's powers. But according to Frieza's arrangement with him, as long as Shinesta holds the loyalty of Talon and things remain quiet, Shetar can do no more than keep order there. Your people have been remarkably well behaved, Raya, you don't need to worry. Frieza always figured the Elves, as well as the other races under Shinesta's rule would surrender peacefully if she and the princess were not harmed. "
"Not officially harmed perhaps... But if they knew what she has had to do to keep her daughter safe… And now Shani too??" Raya growled, her breakfast forgotten. "How do I tell her, Zarbon? How do I tell her- after the 13 years she has been his mistress that her daughter might as well be in the same situation that she is?"
"At least it is Prince Vegeta that Shani was with. Vegeta is very honorable, at least for now, you don't need to worry. He will not back out of marrying her, nor do I think he will ever hurt her or allow anyone else to harm her. When I arrived in the throne room to collect Shannelle, Vegeta was still there holding her- protectively. Even if he doesn't love her I know he will fight to protect her life and her honor if it comes to that, but I think we can keep the scandal from getting that big. Before you arrived last night I already sent out word to a select few regulars of Frieza's court that your princess and Vegeta have been seeing each other quietly. Lady Mildred, Lady Alana, and Lady Jasmine, if those three matchmakers haven't gotten the entire Empire gossiping about Vegeta and Shani in the twelve hours they have had so far, then nothing will. So, even if one of the soldiers at Vegeta's Birthday party does let it slip that their "latest" meeting was less than innocent; at least the other nobles will find it more amusing than damaging."
Raya sighed. "In theory perhaps, and I hope that you're right, but it stills seems terribly cruel even for Frieza to sink this low."
"Vegeta isn't going to like it any more than your Empress will, Raya. He's just turned 18 and he is already engaged to a princess he just met."
"At least being the male in this situation he doesn't face the possibility of being stripped of his titles and being publicly humiliated and possibly even raped before being quietly thrown into someone's harem as both my Empress and my princess will if this scandal can't be contained. You know as well as I do how dangerous this situation is. Not only is Vegeta getting the better end of the deal than Shani is, at least he is old enough to mate casually- if not for life. Even after all that Frieza has done to my people I can't believe he would do this…"
"Wait a minute- what do you mean she is too young? I- "
"Shani is only 37 years old. Most Elves don't even participate in the festival of Shinalla for the first time until they have reached their 75th birthday. They would be permitted to younger if they really wanted to, of course but the 75th year is something like most races turning 18, they are thought to be a young adult. And even those few Elves who have been raised among humans, rarely mated even casually before their 50th birthday, Shani is ridiculously young for what Frieza did to her..."
"I don't understand why Shani looks so mature now if she is still so young- I had no idea…"
"Well, her body is mature enough to accept a lover Zarbon I was talking about her state of mind. Yes like any elf she is very beautiful, but you can see her youth and inexperience, in that she is so impetuous and fiery. She will be very wise someday, but for now she is determined to speak her mind and get her way constantly, isn't that the mentality of a child? Because it takes an Elf so long to age into physical maturity, it is something that often takes Elves many years- sometimes even centuries to get past- and some like Shinesta never seem to loose their fire completely, but eventually wisdom will always appear to tone it down."
"Well, I wouldn't worry too much about Shani's temper… Vegeta won't hurt her, no matter what she says and I think he found it quite attractive- female Saiyans were known for their fiery nature and strong spirits. What he couldn't want is a timid girl for a mate. If they have to marry, they may as well find the other attractive."
Raya giggled. "Well- Shani told me that they made love at least three times in the few hours they were together, so there was definitely attraction. Shani has her mother's spirit and strong will; I didn't suppose she would be afraid of lying with him, despite how young she is. From what she told me, I think she would have been quite pleased with what happened if Frieza hadn't arranged it."
"Well, if someone had told me that Vegeta had arrived, I never would have brought her in there and Frieza wouldn't have had the chance to…"
A knock at the door cut him off, he got up and threw a robe over his shoulders, he tied it on the way to the door. Raya growled, already knowing she had lost him for the rest of the day no matter what message was being delivered, she sat up, turning her back to the door and stretched as she performed the grooming spell.
"Aren't you dressed yet?" Frieza purred in mock surprise, peeking around Zarbon into the room. "Don't tell me I'm interrupting something."
"My lord?" Zarbon said in surprise, resisting the urge to look over his shoulder to see if Raya was dressed yet. "Oh- her? Not at all, my guest was just leaving."
Frieza looked disappointed for a moment, then he smirked. "Nice choice, Zarbon. I'd ask where you found her, since she's quite lovely, but if she was leaving, you won't mind my intrusion. Do we have anyone near Namek right now?"
"Why?"
"Kwanzaa has just sent a low level team to begin clearing it."
"Namek?? There is nothing there but green slug people, what would that idiot Durmast want with it?"
"I don't know I was hoping you might."
"Well…" Zarbon went to his desk and sat down and began typing, meanwhile, Raya was dressing quietly with her back to both of them and Frieza had found the breakfast tray she had created. "Hmm, data for this planet is incomplete, for some reason. But according to our scouting reports and negotiators, a race native to the area he controls is in need of a planet like this one and he doesn't have any like this in his own area… My Lord, is something wrong?"
"I've seen these before." Frieza growled suddenly, looking between the tray that was still lying on the bed and Raya suspiciously.
Raya turned around slowly to face him, smiling sweetly, even though she was terrified of the pale pink tyrant. "Yes, these are Elven breakfast pastries, my lord. My lady has told me that she conjures them for you at breakfast…"
Frieza didn't give her a chance to say anything else, grabbing Raya by the throat; he turned to glare at Zarbon too. But luckily, Zarbon had anticipated Frieza's jealous reaction to Raya's obviously Elven appearance when he got a good look at her. A few more taps at the keys and the Empress of the Elves appeared on the monitor, smiling. "Good morning Zarbon, wha-Frieza!! You put my servant down this instant!!! You bastard, how dare you lay so much as one finger on her."
Frieza dropped Raya instantly seeing his beautiful mistress on the monitor looking as angry as he had felt only a second before. "Your servant?"
Shani appeared beside her mother on the screen. "Raya?? Are you alright??"
Raya nodded slowly as Zarbon carried her to the bed, but the only one who spoke was Shinesta. "Yes, her name is Raya. She is my closest friend, we were raised together, even had the same tutors as children so her magic will have the same residual aura as mine. She is the head my servants as well as a titled Countess at home, so I will thank you to leave her alone…"
"Why do you have to be such a bully, Frieza?? I hate you! First you give me to Prince Vegeta for his birthday, and now you're trying to hurt Raya?" Shani cried. "Oh- M-mother-I oh, no…" she gasped, slowly starting to back away as she realized what she had just said, and finally ran out of the room.
**
For a moment, no one moved or spoke.
"W-what?" Shinesta slowly sank into her chair and stared at the brightly polished cherry desk in front of her. Something that Frieza said, had sounded a little odd to her the night before, as he had dismissed her from his bed. And suddenly after what Shani had just blurted out, it made sense now- but what was it? Her memories were slow to return to rational thought and more than anything she wanted to find and comfort her only child -but this was too important. She had to know what had happened first.
Shinesta moaned softly in protest as Frieza gently pulled the blankets off of her. He nibbled lazily at her ear, but she was too exhausted to awaken. She tried weakly to push him away, but his fingers found her breasts and stroked them lightly as he pressed his body into hers where she lay on her side. He continued to kiss her neck and her ears until she was squirming in his arms and wet.
He rolled her onto her back, and kissed her deeply. Barely awake and still caught up in the excess of the past 48 hours, Shinesta found herself kissing him back, and he slid between her legs. She arched her back, anticipating his entry, but Frieza chuckled maliciously as he looked down at her questioning expression.
"As enjoyable as I would find your invitation I'm afraid I must decline, my lady." He purred, disentangling himself from her. "Zarbon was just here. Something has come up, so for now, you may go back to your daughter. I know you are exhausted…"
She sat up quickly. "What do you mean, for now? How soon do you intend to summon me again?"
"I will remain here at my palace for the time being. There are some things I must attend to, and this seems the most appropriate setting to deal with them… Shinesta, the ball we are holding here next week- I want you to have things ready for tomorrow evening."
"T-tommorrow??" She stared at him, speechless. "But the food, the invitations… the guests lists- the replies aren't even back yet for next week and you…"
"I assure you, this is rather important. I will assign you all the extra staff and servants you need, just tell me that you will have things ready. The guests will show up, RSVP or not, don't worry about the guests, my lady, just see that the palace is ready for a party tomorrow night."
"May I ask why we are not having the 25th anniversary of the Empire party on its anniversary??"
"You will find out soon enough why we are having a party tomorrow… besides, I am Frieza. I can hold a party every evening if I choose to do so. So, trust me, we are still on for next week as well, but I have a feeling tomorrow might be more important. Anything you need, just ask Zarbon or myself and you will have it, but…"
"If I and most of my personal attendants were not mages, you would be asking the impossible. You know how early we have to start decorating, not to mention cooking and polishing and…"
"Yes, yes I know that I promised you last time something like this happened that I would allow you at least three days to prepare… but this time it can't be helped. I'm sorry, but the announcement that must be made is an urgent one, and you will be bringing your daughter as well."
"W-what?"
"Shannelle can consider this her coming out party. I think we will be inviting 3 or 400 people and don't be at all surprised if every single one of them show up…"
"What? T-three or 400?? That's…"
"If you are going to tell me it's impossible, I suggest you get going, little one… Before I decide I want you again. " Frieza purred, looking at her body appreciatively.
She glared at him as she summoned her magic for the grooming spell and began an enchantment to summon clothing as well. "Why does it seem that you actually enjoy being such an asshole?"
"Why do you still pretend that you don't like our little arrangement when I'm not touching you? I have never hurt you, never let anyone else hurt you or tried to humble you when you talk back to me like this, no matter what you call me."
"Never hurt me? How can you say that? Physically I must admit you are very careful with me. But every time I see you, I am forced to remember that you took my child from me, Frieza. Now you want to use your warped little court to enslave her as you have done to me? No. She hasn't even been introduced to my Empire as my chosen heiress yet and you want to introduce her to your so called Allies?? Your court is made up of slavers, warlords and cowards, some of whom sold their own families into slavery or worse to keep the pretense of their former power. Besides, Shani will not even be considered an adult elf until she is at the very least; 75 years old and right now she is still six months from her 38th birthday, Frieza. One of the drawbacks to being from an immortal race is that we grow very slowly. I know how beautiful she looks, in fact her appearance will change little for the rest of her life, but my daughter is still at least 30 years from going into season for the first time... I refuse to bring her. I will not help you hurt my child."
Frieza laughed. "Hmm, my fierce little mistress, like a proud lioness defending her cub, you know that you don't have a choice. She will be there with or without your consent. Relax and enjoy yourself, silly girl. You will find this party very interesting. Besides, the slavers and warlords you are referring to will be quite disappointed if you aren't there, I understand they are all quite taken with you. Zarbon tells me you handle parties at court in my absence with absolute authority and admirable charm…"
Shinesta shook herself from her thoughts and glared at Frieza, who was looking back at her silently, his expression stony, as if he were expecting a storm. "What did my daughter mean when she announced that you gave her to Prince Vegeta for his birthday? And try not to lie to me."
Raya and Zarbon were about to try to explain, but Frieza, shrugged coldly. "Your daughter has a knack for pissing me off, as you well know. So now she is going to marry Prince Vegeta."
"So, you mean to tell me that you gave my daughter's virginity to one of your soldiers- you godless son of a bitch. You don't need me to tell you that you have just admitted that you did the one thing I was trying to protect her from. No matter how many times I think I have seen the worst of your cruelty, you always manage to surprise even me."
"Your life is hardly that of a whore, or a pleasure slave Shinesta, let me remind you that our..."
"A gilded cage is still a cage, you bastard. Now. Let me make sure I understand this… The impromptu party you want me to have ready by tomorrow- it is an engagement party?" Shinesta growled, glaring at Frieza.
"Regardless what it is, do you think it really matters? I control everything that happens in the Empire- if anyone says anything that might suggest…"
"It matters to me, because my daughter is all I have left in this life! I don't even know what to say to you, Frieza." Shinesta snapped. "But, I'm sure you'll enjoy knowing there are no curses in any language native to any planet in my Empire that would do justice to this betrayal, Frieza. Your hold on me is broken."
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Frieza laughed, as she reached for the button that would shut off the monitor. "What about the medallion that your daughter can't take off? The necklace that keeps you from contacting her or teleporting her to you magically, did you forget about that?"
"How could I? The medallion is one of the most powerful items I have ever seen, and the curse that keeps her from taking it off is very strong… but there are ways around it. I have always known that you would do this Frieza, even though you promised me that you wouldn't. I will never understand how you have been so careful with my body, when I know it is in your nature to be cruel, but I have had 13 years to prepare myself for your treachery. You underestimate my intelligence and my powers if you really thought you could keep me here forever using just the medallion."
"Did you think that the medallion is the only safeguard on the key to your freedom?" Frieza snorted, trying not to laugh outright, he allowed himself a chuckle though, and his garnet eyes burned with mischief and cruelty, as they clashed with her silver eyes. After a long moment of tense silence, Shinesta gave up trying to read into his expression and shut off the monitor. Casually Frieza turned back to Zarbon, who sat alone on the edge of his bed. "I want you to go run a check the decorative tracking bracelet and ring Shani should be wearing, even though they were custom made and don't look like the ones that house slaves on Kwanzaa wear, I want to be sure Shinesta hasn't caught on to what they are… Elves might be technologically primitive, but their knowledge of all things mystical is unsurpassed, if there is a way to remove them, Shinesta will find it."
Zarbon nodded. "And what did you want to do about Namek, Sire?"
"If Durmast has found a buyer, let him worry about it. But the next time he sends a team into my territory, I will personally see that he lives to regret it. In fact I want you to see that he is invited to Shannelle and Vegeta's engagement party. And see that Vegeta is called back to the palace in time to make it as well. How is Radditz healing?"
"He is fully healed and awaiting orders, sire."
"Good, have him come here to await Vegeta and Napa's arrival."
