Sakki: Yay!! Well, not much to say about this chapter... I'm making it up as I go along

"I don't know, I told you already!" Kaioshin roared. His eyes burned with obsidian anger and the four Kais that he was talking to all involuntarily jumped back a step or two... or five.

"But Your Highness, you must take a wife!" Kita no Kaio insisted. "It is for the good of the Universe. It is your duty!"

"My duty is to rule the Universe! Damn it, I'm immortal! Why do I need an heir?" he fumed.

He was beyond pissed. Just as he and Katrina and stepped through the door, he had been bombarded with Kais. Lucky... at least she was able to get away from them... he massaged his temples, trying his best to tune out his underlings.

"Sire! Please, it is for the good of the-"

"It's your duty to-"

"-entire Universe!"

"-produce an heir!"

Finally, he lost it. Kaioshin narrowed his eyes, pure rage radiating from him, as the Kais continued interrupting each other to get in the same phrase. He knew he needed an heir!! They didn't need to repeat that fact five-thousand-and-a-half times for him to get it!

"SILENCE!!!" his voice rang out, effectively quieting the Kais. "I will choose a mate when I am ready, not when you have nothing to do other than pester me about it! Now, leave me alone for the rest of this day! If I so much as hear you THINK about asking me again, you will be beheaded!!!!"

They stared at him in shock for a second, then ran as fast as physically possible through the arched door at the back of the room.

Sighing, he teleported to his private quarters and collapsed on the first cushy chair that came into sight.

Katrina walked into the main lobby of Kaioshin's palace, after seeing the Kais fleeing. She had been surprised when the deity had told them off; he was usually such a peaceful person. She grinned wryly; they had been asking for it though.

Suddenly she stopped, and regarded the empty room; she had intended to find Kaioshin and talk to him... but it seemed he had teleported to his room instead of walking there. Sighing, she turned to go.

As she walked from the marbled room, she murmured to herself, "Well... it was probably nothing... just two people alone together for an hour... that's all..." she couldn't convince herself, though, that the kiss was just a product of that. She had yearned for that moment so long; the sweet, fiery burning when their lips touched, the way his hands almost started roaming her body... it was her fantasy; and yet it was he that had kissed her. Lost in thought, she didn't notice the Kai following her; not until he had slid an arm around her slender middle, and cupped a hand over her mouth, hauling her up against him. She cried out, but it was muffled; no one was around to hear it anyway.

"Well, well... what have we here?" Minami no Kaio murmured in her ear.

She froze; she had always known that the tall Kai had wanted her... the way he had looked intently at her body whenever she wore the skin-tight garb of the palace staff; which was nearly everyday. She had ignored it at first, but lately it had started bothering her a bit more than usual. The few times she had actually spoken to him, she had found him rude and vulgar, and over-all unattractive. She struggled against him.

"Katrina..." he said her name lustily. "Who, I wonder, might you be looking for?" He let go and she pulled quickly away, laughing a little. It had only been a joke.

She narrowed her eyes at the ruler of the South Quadrant. "I was looking for His Royal Highness. I have a few things I'd like to talk with him about." She started to walk away, but he grabbed her arm and turned her back to him. Pushing her against the wall slightly, he whispered huskily, "Do you have to do it right now...?" he trailed off suggestively.

She pushed him back. "Yes, I have to do it now." She quickened her pace and hurried down the hall.

"Maybe later..." she heard him say, a sickening feeling in her stomach.

Kaioshin opened his eyes as he heard a light tap on his door. Strange... no one is allowed into my bedding quarters... how'd they get past the guards? He shrugged and went to the door, opening it curiously.

"Hi..."

Kaioshin raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Katrina? Why-"

"I needed to talk to you." She said.

He nodded and opened the door wider; she stepped inside and looked around in awe at his room; the glass ceiling, the few trinkets on his dresser, the gilded wood furniture... it was truly a sight to beheld. She walked over and ran a delicate hand over the bookcase in one corner, then over the gold spines of the books themselves. "Wow... it's beautiful in here... I can see why you wouldn't let anyone in."

"I let you in, didn't I?" he murmured. She looked at him oddly, then nodded.

"Why did you?" she asked.

"Why did you come?" he countered.

She smiled. "I needed to speak with you."

"What about?" Kaioshin asked. He went back over to his chair and sat down, closing his eyes.

"About earlier..." she began, but trailed off.

"Yes?" he urged.

"I was wondering..." she stopped. She couldn't do this. What was I thinking, coming here to his private rooms...

"Katrina... I don't know what happened. I just lost myself for a moment and I apologize."

She stared at him, shocked. "No, don't apologize..."

"Why not?" He opened his eyes and looked at her.

"..." She didn't know what to say. "I... I don't know..."

He stood up and walked over to her, placing his hands on her shoulders, leaning in close. He could feel her heat, and the thoughts that accompanied it. "You're one of my only true friends. I've lost so much... and I won't be able to lose more. Something's happening between us... and I'm not sure what it is. Please," He looked deeply into her eyes and she could see in his what he meant; the other Kaioshins, Kibito... she understood what he was saying. If he gave her his heart, and something happened to her...

"Don't do this to me." He finished.

"I..." she cast her eyes to the floor. Why did she have to love him so much? She cursed the fates. "I will try not to, My Lord."

He looked at her. "I told you... call me Shin." He took her hand in both of his and brought it to his lips. "And tell that pathetic excuse for a Kai, Minami no Kaio, to keep his hands off you. My orders."

She nodded, smiling gratefully at him, and left. He watched her go; in fact, he watched the spot where she was standing for a long while after she had left.

Suddenly, he realized something. The aura trail from earlier... it was her aura. But how did she get in? And why had she been there...

Sakki: I'm just whipping these chapters out!! Oooh Yeah!!

Higashi no Kaioshin: Yeah!

Sakki: I know it's not very good... gomen nasai, but I may actually be successful with this fic... I've never done them by chapters before. ^_^

Higashi no Kaioshin: Don't forget to tell them the bad news...

Sakki: Oh yeah... I'm gonna be at my Grandmother's for a week, so I don't know if I'll be online much; which means (for those of you that care) I won't be updating as much... I may, however, have a chapter or two for when I get back, even though I may not be writing very much... I'll be pretty busy. Since I doubt I'll upload again before tomorrow night, Happy Holidays to all!!

Higashi no Kaioshin: *cheers* VACATION!!!! YAY!!!

Sakki: ^_^
