He looked at her. "its ok you didn't know"

She smiled glad he wasn't mad. "Ok", she looked back at Karen,

Karen glanced at them. "Fine then I wont tell you my secret either"

Riku grinned, but amber could tell he was worried. The elevator stopped and the door opened.

They walked out of the elevator and amber looked around, riku glanced at her and grinned when he saw her expression, "your surprised?"

She glanced at him, "why wouldn't I be, it looks like there is every game that was ever made, is down here"

Karen looked back at riku, "where is she from really?"

Amber looked at her surprised that the girl figured it out, "how do you know I'm not from around here?"

Karen looked at her and smiled, "because you don't know us that well"

They both looked at riku; he glanced between them, "Karen. . . . "

Amber grinned, "oh come on tell me"

Karen looked at amber then to riku, "oh so it is your fault?", she grinned and looked at amber. "Well I suppose you already met my dad, so since your still here hanging with us. But I guess since riku didn't tell you then it isn't your fault"

Amber looked at her confused, "why wouldn't I?"

Karen smiled at her "I'll let you find out on your own",

Amber looked at riku who had the same look she did; he shrugged and looked around.

Karen looked at Mimi, "so which one do you want to play first?"

Mimi looked around, "I don't know why not the one we were going to play last time, before I had to go"

Karen nodded and looked at riku and amber, "you two want to play too? it isn't as fun against the computer"

He looked down at her grinning, "why so I can lose in front of her?"

Amber looked at him and started to laugh, "you mean she can beat you?"

He glanced at her, "that isn't even half of it, I am the one that made it, and she always gets the top score in the game mode. I was thinking about reprogramming it with some cheats but I never got around to it, but I like the free play better"

Amber looked down at Karen, "sure we'll play. I want to see him get beat, after how bad he made me look on the game in your dads office"

Riku looked at amber. "Fine but we are playing free style, that game in the office is somewhat low tech compared to this one, but before we start playing I have to talk to you remember".

Amber looked at him and nodded. "Yeah I know, alright since we figured out what we are going to do we might as well talk". She followed him away from the two girls as they ran towards the far wall.

He turned around and looked at her, "look I don't want Karen to find out about the catchers, or about me being one ok"

She looked at him surprised, "you mean she doesn't even know about them?"

He shook his head, "no she is still to young. And she'll find out soon enough, but I don't want her to ever find out about me. She has no reason to be afraid so she doesn't need to know"

Amber nodded, "ok, I wont mention it when they are around"

He looked at her and sighed, they started to walk towards the far wall, she glanced at him, "when you said it was low tech, what did you mean? all the games on earth are like that"

He looked at her and grinned. "Well other than the fact she beats me all the time, I'm quite proud of it. You'll see. It won't be hard to play, we just have to make you a character"

She looked at him. "Make me a character?"

He glanced ahead and started to run, "come on the faster we get there the more time we have to play"

She smiled and ran after him. She started to walk slower as she saw the wall; it was covered with computers and wires. Riku ran over to one of them and started to hit a few buttons, he glanced back at her. "You want it to look just like you or make some modifications?"

She thought for a second and looked at him, "I'll make it". She walked over and glanced at the controls. "Um ok so how do I do this?"

Riku pointed to the screen. "It is a touch pad, and the buttons just add stuff, let me show you then you can".

He glanced over the controls, then to her. "See that tube over there go stand in it for a second".

She glanced at him then to it. She shrugged and walked over and got it, it lit up and started to scan her. She walked out after it shut off and looked at the screen, "what is that for?"

He looked at her, "that is the model for your character. Use the buttons to add stuff, like wings ears and such, and you can also take away and add clothes".

She looked at him, "oh ok now go away". He looked at her but then walked to another computer and started to upload his own. She looked over the controls. She grinned, and set to work. She added ears and a tail, and changed it to a light brown color. Then she changed the clothes. It had nothing for the bottom layer. She added a bra and underwear for the next. A black skin tight suit that covered most of her body for the next, then over it she put a kimono and a sword sheath on the belt, inside the kimono, which was a brown that matched her ears and tail. She looked it over then to riku, "ok I'm done, now what do I do?"

He glanced over at her not looking at the image, "save it with a username and password"

She looked over the screen and saw a floppy disk icon, she hit it and then typed in the username which was amber and her password. She saved it and the image disappeared. She walked over to riku and glanced at his. It looked like him all except it had wings and was wearing a brownish tan cape and black clothes, the clothes were just a pair of pants and a shirt, what he had underneath she couldn't tell.

He looked at her, "what do you think?"

She smiled. "Of the game or your character? your character looks nice, but with the game I think you are a pervert"

He looked at her and laughed, "well I did tell you that you could take off the clothes. I never said you have to".

She looked at him, "yeah I know, but still it showed everything when it was naked, how do you know what a person looks like without their clothes?"

He looked at her. "Oh that, well you weren't supposed to take all of the clothes off, it forms to your body, that tube when it scans you, it sends out air with a certain particle that forms to your body instead of your clothes and take a picture off that. But it isn't accurate. And the scanner on the side take a picture of your clothes."

She looked at the tube. "I don't like that thing anymore"

He looked at it; "you won't have to do it again unless you want to. Now lets go and play". He saved his character and started to walk towards a door. When they walked in she looked around, on the floor there were rows of tubes along the far wall. Karen and Mimi were already in one, riku went up to one and hit a button it opened up and he got in, "what's the matter?"

She looked at the tube in front of her. "What are you supposed to do?"

He grinned. "See the keypad inside? use it to find your character. Type your username and password, and it'll do the rest. I'll see you in the game",

She looked at him, wondering what he meant; the tubes weren't even connected unless it was behind the wall. She walked up to it and hit the button; after it opened she got in it and hit the keypad. A screen appeared, she found her character and typed in her username and password, the keypad went into the tube and it started closing, she closed her eyes until she heard a hiss. She looked forward and saw that pink air was being blown into the tube, she started to get nervous but she blacked out.

She started to hear the sound of wind; she opened her eyes and saw the sky filled with clouds. She felt her head and sat up and looked around, she was in the middle of a clearing. She stood still glancing around.

"Hey there you are, sorry I didn't want to confuse you so I didn't tell you how to control the drop"

She looked behind her and saw someone, it looked similar to riku except he was wearing a tan cape and had black on. *Who is this? *

"Heh you don't recognize me?"

She looked at him and felt her head again, "riku?"

He laughed. "Good you remember, well don't get to far out there. This is a game. Oh and nice kimono."

She looked down at herself and then to him. "This is a game? it feels so real".

He nodded, "yep, now come on, Karen went into town and got us a room"

She looked at him confused but followed him, as the reached the summit of the hill she saw gray smoke rise up and disappear into the blue sky. She looked down and saw a small village. "I still don't believe this is a game, though we do have something like this that is like a game but it isn't virtual"

He looked at her. "Really? Is it called .hack//sign?"

She nodded as they walked down the hill. "Yeah but I think I like this better".

"Well it isn't the same, this has monsters too, but they are different, you'll get to see what I mean". They entered the village and people looked at them. "Karen and Mimi are already in the room, so what took you anyway?"

She looked at him, "well you didn't really explain the controls"

He smiled as he looked ahead. "Yeah fair enough, but i didn't really think it was that hard to figure out".

She stopped and looked around; he glanced back at her, "what's wrong?"

She looked around then back to him. "Oh sorry, it is just this feels to real to be a game, is there a story?"

He grinned and started walking again; he turned towards a building. She ran and caught up with him. "Not exactly a modern building is it?"

He glanced at her as the walked in. "no, but it has running water and heat"

She looked at him then around the room.

"Don't get lost when we go out, your not used to fighting yet". She looked at him and nodded, they walked down the hall and through a door

"Hey there you are, we thought you got yourself lost" Karen smiled and glanced at riku.

"I would have been if riku didn't come and get me".

Riku sat down and looked at her. She looked around and sat down, Karen looked up from the screen at riku. "Well so far we got everything that was on the list, do you think we need anything else?"

He glanced at the screen, "probably a way to hull it all, I doubt any of us would want to carry all that"

Karen nodded and looked at the screen, amber looked at the screen a little confused. "What is that?"

Riku looked at her. "An inventory list, this game is like the real world in some ways. You need to eat and take care of yourself, of course it also has a lot of differences",

Amber looked at him, "like what?"

Karen looked up from the screen; "I got us three Rocs"

Amber glanced at her confused, "why would we need rocks?"

Riku looked at amber and started to laughed, "not a rock, a Roc, it is a type of dragon, but they are tame and very friendly"

She looked at him, "then why are they called a Roc?"

He motioned to the screen and she got up and sat next to Karen. Karen glanced at her then back to the screen, she started typing something and the screen changed, a picture took its place, amber looked at the picture, "is that a Roc?"

"Yeah as I said they are friendly dragons, but they don't blow fire"

She glanced at him then back to the picture. It looked like a bull except its horn made an arch from its back instead of its head. And it looked similar to a spear, it also was plated with what looked like bones or rocks, and it was gray. It had a series of small stub-like spikes running down its spine. She looked at riku, "how big are they?"

He leaned back and looked at the ceiling, "about the same size of a buffalo, that picture is of a male, the females are used for hulling supplies and the males are for traveling. You can tell by the spikes on the back, the females don't have them".

She looked at the screen, "oh, that is all? why so small?"

He glanced at her. "They have no reason to be bug, they are well armored and it takes a lot to take one down let alone kill it. Besides they are mainly used for traveling purposes as I said"

She nodded, and looked at him again.

"We should get some sleep. It all should arrive in the morning"

Karen looked around. "Hey did anyone see Mimi?"

Riku smiled and pointed towards a pile of blankets. "I guess this is all too much for her. Good night", he laid down.

Amber laid back onto a cot, "riku, how long can you play this game?"

He glanced at her. "Playing straight? About a day in real life, before you need to take a break. Your body is still in the tube in real life. And you need to eat real food"

She nodded and closed her eyes.
