It was near two in the morning by the time I fell alseep, and there was some one pounding on my door by six. I heard some muffled shouts and the next thing I know, Remy's dragging my outta bed and downstairs in my nightshirt and shorts. I blushed and pulled my shirt down, covering the fact that it didn't look like I was wearing shorts.

"Gad dammit, Remy! Must you be such a bastard this early in the morning, or am I just special?" I stood up and tucked the front of my nightshirt into my shorts, earning stares from a lot of guys. "And what are y'all looking at, it's not like you've never seen a teenager in shorts before!"

"Have some breakfast and go get dressed, we have to see what other abilities you have aside from the kinetic energy thing." Jean said, indicating a seat next to a bluish colored hairy thing. "That's Kurt, or Nightcrawler if you prefer. Don't worry, the fangs are misleading." 'Lucky me!' I thought. I hadn't noticed his fangs yet. I just shrugged and took a seat, matching my looks with poor morning table manners and messy redish-black hair. After I was done I ran my fingers through my barely shoulder-length hair, helping Jean and another person I'd never been introduced to clear the table when everyone left.

"Men are pigs, or at least most of them are." I said, washing dishes with the other two. "We've got it Aiyen, you just go get dressed for the training session later." "Okay, if you sure." "I take back what I said yesterday, there is absolutely no way you and Gambit are related." "Dere is times when I believe dat, ma'am. See ya in a sec, I'll help when I get dressed." I ran upstairs and started getting dressed in my old training clothes: a tight black tank top and loose-fitting nylon pants. I had my radio on, playing an old CD some one had made for me. I cranked it up a bit when Youth of the Nation, some one pounding on the wall next door.

"Hey!" It sounded like Logan. "Turn that up!" "Huh?!" "You heard me, mini Cajun! Turn it up!" I turned my radio up, shrugging it off as coincidence. 'Must like the song.'

''Last day of the rest of my life
         I wish I would've known
Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye
I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I care
Or thank my pops for all the talks
And all the wisdom he shared
Unaware, I just did what I always do
         Everyday, the same routine
Before I skate off to school
But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
         Instead of taking a test
I took two to the chest
Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
         Everybody was running
         But I couldn't hear nothing
Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I don't really know this kid
Even though I sit by him in class
Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
         Or maybe for a moment
         He forgot who he was
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
         Whatever it was
         I know it's because
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation''
'Yeah... right. 'Youth of the Nation' huh, more dan half t'teens these days are pregnant or have lost deir virginity.' The voice in my head chimmed in around then, reminding me that I wasn't a virgin either. 'Yeah, I know. You don' hafta remind me. Jesse... I miss him so much, my love. My... my wolf.'
''Little Suzy, she was only twelve
         She was given the world
         With every chance to excel
Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kind of proud
         But no respect for herself
She finds love in all the wrong places
         The same situations
         Just different faces
Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her
         She deserved much better
Johnny boy always played the fool
         He broke all the rules
So you would think he was cool
He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
         Often thought of suicide
It's kind of hard when you ain't got no friends
He put his life to an end
         They might remember him then
You cross the line and there's no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation''
Johnny Boy sounded even more like me that, well... me. I'd attempted suicide... more than once. I didn't regret it either, until Jesse came into the picture. He kept showing me he loved me, but I never took the hint until that one day. It had only been two weeks since then, and the pain had thrown me back into the habit I had of cutting. 'Oh well, I haven't died yet.'
''Who's to blame for the lives that tragedies claim
         No matter what you say
It don't take away the pain
That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
         Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leading the blind
I guess that's the way the story goes
         Will it ever make sense
         Somebody's got to know
There's got to be more to life than this
There's got to be more to everything
        I thought exists
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation

We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
We are, We are, the youth of the nation''
I turned my radio off and took a running leap down the stairs, landing almost cat-like at the bottom. Nightcrawler just teleported down, my jump closely followed by Wolverine. I stumbled out of the way, barely missing getting hit.
         "Dammit Wolverine, dat wannit funny." I stood up straight, holding two cards in my right hand ready to throw them. His laughter died away almost instantly, and he walked away as if I wasn't threatening him. "Hey Kurt, is he always like dat?" "Yes, Logan isn't ze easiest of people to get along vith. Don't vorry, you vill get used to him." "Sure I will, if we agree in everything else as well as we agree in music." I followed Nightcrawler to the Danger Room, standing around awaiting orders from whomever we got orders from.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
