Author Note: here's another chapter, even though no one's reviewing the damn thing! i don't mind though, I just like to write.
Disclaimer: i don't own the X-Men, that honor belongs to the great Stan Lee and the bastards at Marvel Comics who are trying to break Remy and Rogue up. I only own the characters Aiyen and Phantom. My buddies own Niala and Orcania, and... oh screw it, just R&R.

"Ow..." I sat up and held my head, hoping everyone just kept away from me so I could concentrate on keeping Phantom under control. The spirit had really done a number to the security systems, and Jean had really nearly killed me. She should of killed me, we'd all be better off if she had. No more physical me equals no more body for that spirit, and if it doesn't have a body it ceases to exist. I thought, still holding my head and keeping my eyes on the ground. 'But little Phoenix couldn't kill us, she's weaker than you are mortal.' I flinched at the cold voice in my head, the same one who haunted my nightmares and forced me to black out when Phantom took over. 'Too bad no one here is strong enough to kill you while I'm around, and you can't seem to kill yourself because your body won't bleed.' 'Shut up!' 'Look at our handiwork, Cajun. Look at all the people we've killed just today, I told you we could do great things if you just cooperated.' 'Get out of my head, damn it!' 'Very well, but I don't think your new little friends are very happy with you right now. You almost killed them all, and it's all your fault Shadow.' I knew it was gone because my body felt numb, as did my brain as what it had just said to me sank in. "It was my idea to turn Phantom loose. I killed all these people... It's all my fault, it's always my fault."
"Stop thinking like that, Aiyen. It's not your fault, you didn't know that spirit wouldn't listen to you." I looked up at Jean, tears rimming my eyes. "Yes I did. I knew that it would kill all those people, it always does that when it gets loose." "Phoenix is usually the same way, but there's always a way to get control back." "You should of killed me, that way this can't happen again." I muttered, getting wobbily to my feet and walking away. 'I told you that I wouldn't kill you, and I'm going to stand by that until it's proven that you're really dangerous.' I put my mental blocks back up and looked at the door, the burnt metal proof that Remy had blown it out. I started in until I felt a hand on my shoulder, starting to get agitated with people.
"Zey told us to stay here, Cyclops does not vant to risk you losing control again." I turned and glared at Nightcrawler, the German just giving me a look of sympathy instead of the fear I expected from the group. "So what? I'm going in dere to save my friend, wheder he likes it or not. Now you can either let me go, or you can keep trying to keep me here and risk my temper drawing that spirit out again. It's your choice, Nightcrawler." "I'm not letting you go, Fraulien Runke. Not alone, at least." I smiled quickly, remembering where I knew Kurt from. That's why he knew my real name, instead of the name I'd gained from being adopted. "Danke Kurt, now let's go!" "Ja." I felt a hand on my shoulder again, this one female.
"Scott said stay here, what part of that don't you understand." I rolled my eyes at Jean, laughing at the glare on her face. "Listen, you may jump when he says jump, but I was taught not to take orders from fools. Even when I was little and I was still raised as de perfect liddle Catholic, I never listened to people I din't know. Hell, half de time I din't even listen ta my parents." "I don't think it's a good idea not to listen to him, Scott can get cranky sometimes." "Quais? Well, life's a bitch sometimes. But then again, I's always a bitch. C'mon Kurt, let's find a way in dere." "Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you." Kurt teleported the two of us in the building, letting me go and taking a look around.
"Vell, zis could get interesting." Great, these pathetic things again? I attacked the Brotherhood Thugs carelessly, making Nightcrawler appreciate his agility more and more as I nearly hit him. After they were all out cold, I made sure I hadn't seriously injured Nightcrawler and started walking. He followed closely, giving us a chance to talk. "Kurt, if you knew me when long enough ago that you know my real name, then do you know why my parents let those weirdo's take me?" "Ja, but I vill not tell you." "Why not?" "Zis is not a good place to talk about family matters, ve can talk after you save your friend." I nodded and started looking for a path, deciding to take a chance with contacting Niala.
'Niala, can you hear me?' I waited a minute before I heard my friend answer, relieved that she could still communicate. 'Aiyen? WOO HOO, I'm saved!' 'Where are you being held, Myst?' 'In the control room, but Mystique has the keys to this thing and she's with Magneto.' 'I'm going to pretend the keys don't exist then, because I'm not talking to either of them.' 'I hear you on that, Shadow.' 'Be forewarned, there are other people in this place trying to save you.' I took a hard left, making my way toward the Control Room in hopes of avoiding the others. 'If they get there before we do, go with them and make sure you tell me so we can get out of here.' 'We?' 'Quais, I'll introduce you to Nightcrawler when we find you. FYI: he looks like the Devil, and he's blue.' 'Hm, sounds cute. I wanna meet this guy, how fast can you get here?' 'Ha ha ha! Very funny, mon ami. We'll be there as soon as we can, I'm trying to avoid the others.'
I closed the conversation with Niala fast enough to take a few more turns, charging the door to the Control Room and ducking through it. I laughed so hard at the sight I almost cried, and those we two things I rarely did. When they told Havok to hang tight, they hadn't been kidding. Havok was hanging by his throat two feet off the ground, a sword carefully placed to keep him up without killing him. I fell over laughing, hitting my bandaged arm against the wall and cursing loudly. "Damn it!" I kept laughing anyways, then a familiar voice entered the room. "I thought I told Jean to make sure you stayed outside."
"I din't listen, jus' because I don' hafta follow orders." "Then I guess Professor Xavier made a mistake in letting you join the X-Men." I swiftly dodged an attack, landing next to the cage Niala was in. Havok paled slightly, but otherwise didn't acknowledge that I was there. Knocking the blonde down from the awkward hostage situation, I proceeded to pick the lock until Blob and Sabretooth decided to show up. Glancing in their direction, I rolled my eyes and just broke the lock. Niala jumped out and glared at our former associates, extremely pissed and ready for a scrap. "I's not even gonna ask, Myst."
"Long story, Ah'll tell ya when we get outta here." Niala glanced at Blob, then at Havok, then back at Blob with a smirk. Havok's shoulders fell as he pulled his sleeve up, taking the hint that he wasn't getting away from there without Niala getting his powers anyways. The younger Summers brother passed out after a few minutes, leaving us to face Blob while he took a nap. "He's worthless sometimes, ain't he?" I just shrugged to avoid saying something I would more than likely regret later, glad I didn't have to blow off some steam on myself before I went to bed that night. "Oh well, Ah guess that means these two boneheads wanna fight?"
"Hey, watch who your callin' a bonehead!" Me and Niala exchanged a glance, not really worried about what Blob thought compared to what Sabretooth could do to us. Speaking of the weirdo, he'd decided to pull a vanishing act on us and attack the others. I ducked around Blob and charged my bo staff, chucking it at his head and getting his attention away from Niala. Trying out her newfound powers, she slammed Blob in the back with a wave of plasma and sent him flying toward a wall. Unfourtunately for me I couldn't move fast enough, so he wound up hitting me before we both slammed into the wall. Struggling back to my feet, I stumbled away from Blob and into a worse thought... Sabretooth. Intense pain shot through my body as he stuck his claws into me, making my body throw control out the window for the second time today.
NARRATIVE P.O.V.
The next thing anyone saw was Sabretooth flying across the room, the spirit doing nothing more than raise a hand against Blob before he backed off. Agitated with his slow reflexes, Phantom sent Blob flying into, and through, the wall. After a crash signaled that Blob had come to a stop, Sabretooth dove at the spirit in hopes of finishing it off. Phantom turned her silver eyes on the mutant, a cross burned on the back of her left hand and forearm starting to glow before Sabretooth was thrown toward the wall Blob had crashed through. Leaving his own hole in the steel of the wall, a series of crashes indicated that he would land somewhere near Blob.
"Told ya so, Cajun." Phantom muttered before blacking out, the wounds just below her rib cage starting to bleed. Cyclops took a cautious step foward, half expecting Phantom to attack. Seeing how bad she was bleeding, his attitude changed drastically.
"Nightcrawler, get her back to the X-Jet while we try and figure out what the Brotherhood wants with her." Nightcrawler scooped Aiyen's body up and teleported from the room, silently praying that he didn't mess up this time. Glancing through the hole in the wall, Niala saw that it was dark outside and shot the lights in the hallway out. Stepping from the room, she melted into the shadows and reappeared outside. A quick glance around revealed Nightcrawler's position, so she headed that way.
"I assume you are ze person ve vere sent here to find, ja?" Niala blushed and looked away, glad it was dark and hoping that Nightcrawler couldn't see in the dark anymore than she could. "Ah'm Niala, if that's what your askin'." "Ja, zat vas ze question. I'm Nightcrawler, it's a pleasure to make your aquaintance." "The pleasure's all mine, but what kind of name is 'Nightcrawler' sugah?" "Mien real name is Kurt Wagner, but everyvone around here just calls me Nightcrawler."
"Oh my god, what happened to Aiyen?" Jean took a glance at Aiyen's injuries and took her from Nightcrawler, disappearing back into the X-Jet to stop the bleeding. The rest of the group joined them shortly after that, heading back to the Mansion for proper medical attention. "Is she going to be okay, Jean?" Jean flashed Cyclops a quick smile, returning to checking Aiyen's wounds in the Med Lab of the X-Mansion. "Her injuries are severe, but she's stabilized and her vitals are moderate. She'll probably stay out of it for a couple days, at most a week. You know Scott, if I didn't know better I'd say you were concerned." "The Cajun's a member of the team, no matter how much hell it is to get along with her." Jean smiled and kept monitoring Aiyen's vitals, wondering if she should tell anybody what Aiyen and Nightcrawler were talking about before this started. "What?" "Nothing Scott, so unless you want to monitor a teenagers vitals all night I suggest you go to bed."
Cyclops pulled up a chair and sat down, shrugging off his exaustion in favor of helping in any way that he could.
