NARRATIVE P.O.V.
"So what's the big deal, Cajun?" Wolverine asked skeptically, agitated that Aiyen had been slipping in and out of a coma for three days now. Gambit just sat casually in a chair, waiting for Professor Xavier to show up. When he said he had something important to say, he meant it and wanted everyone there to hear it. Wolverine didn't like waiting, so he decided to force it out. "Damn it Cajun, if you don't tell me what the Hell's goin' on I'm gonna shove these claws so far up yer ass--"
"Logan, if you would kindly put Gambit down he might tell us what he has to say." Professor Xavier said from the doorway, making Wolverine drop Gambit and sit back down. "Now, what is it you had to tell us?"
"Gambit jus' figured ev'ryone'd like to know dat tomorrow, June 25, is Aiyen's birthday." The room was silent for a moment, then every woman in the room jumped up shouting "WHAT!? Why didn't she tell us this?!" before running from the room. "Dat went well, and de sun's shining again." A quick glance out the window proved Gambit right, that after three days of steady rain that confused the hell out of the forecasters, Storm had let the sun shine again. "You probably just killed us all, Gambit." Cyclops said, checking his pocket for who knows what. "Wait a minute, one of them has my wallet!" He left the room, followed quickly by almost everyone else. Gambit stayed to look out the window, and Professor Xavier stayed by the door until he was sure everyone was gone. "Dere's nut'ing to say Professer, Gambit wanted to do someding nice for her. Aiyen is my step-sister after all, she de only family I ever got along wid." Gambit said before leaving the room, heading upstairs to dig some old memories out of his underwear drawer. (A/ N: i keep family photo's in my underwear drawer, so sue me for making Gambit do the same.)
He found an old book full of pictures of him and Aiyen, flipping through the pages until he felt a burst of joy comming down the hall. The next thing he knew, Rogue threw the door open, grabbed his hand, and drug him downstairs and out the front door. The old photo album lay open on his bed to a picture of Aiyen with her real family, a German couple each holding a twin with one arm and each other with the other arm. (A/ N: here the chapter goes to script format, it's the only way I can write the chapter AND it still make sense to some one that isn't me.)
ASTRAL PLAIN; SCRIPTED P.O.V.
Voice: C'mon Cajun, get up! I swear, if you die on me I'm going to kill you!
Aiyen: Who are you?
Voice: It doesn't matter, just get up!
Aiyen: *blinks, getting slowly to her feet* HOLY FUCK! I'm on the Astral Plain!?
Voice: Yes, but that's a good thing. All truth's be told you should be dead, but your soul isn't ready to die so you've just been slipping in and out of a coma for about three days now.
Aiyen: Three days... But that means... It's the 24th? *calculates date in head* If you're here on the Astral Plain, that must make you a telepath. And if you seem to know who I am, that must make you... Phantom?
Voice: Qui, but not as you are used to seeing me. *jumps down from sitting on the wall*
(Phantom looks like a five-year-old female, long blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail and bright silver eyes shining in the darkness of the Astral Plain. The cross burned on the back of her hand and arm is barely visible, as if it fades away when she's not defending herself.)
Phantom: We need to get you out of here, I refuse to take over your body unless I feel it's neccesary. *starts walking, Aiyen following closely behind* I'm surprised you are not asking questions, God knows I'm curious about you.
Aiyen: Your real name can't possibly be Phantom, so do you mind if I ask what it is?
Phantom: I've learned through your experiances that giving personal information to people you don't really know can be leathal, so I'm going to ask that you continue calling me Phantom.
Aiyen: Why me?
Phantom: *laughs softly* Because you seemed right, and we something in common.
(Aiyen is silent, urging the spirit to continue. Phantom laughs again, the cross on her arm glowing to ward of the evil on the Astral Plain.)
Phantom: We both had power, it just needed a little coaxing out and some self-control. My twin brother, Jaques, and I... we both came to our powers at the same time. We only used them once before we were locked away, we spent three years in the King's catacombs before we finally died.
(Phantom looked at the ground to hide her tears, Aiyen's empathy and the link she still shared with the spirit flooding with extreme sadness.)
Aiyen: I'm sorry I asked...
Phantom: It's okay, we both acknowledged that we deserved what we got. All the people we killed...
(The rest of the walk passed slowly, the two of them having to backtrack many times to avoid the spectral entities that Phantom's holy energies couldn't ward off. Once they found the portal back to the real world, Phantom said a prayer in French before jumping through. Aiyen shrugged at her spirit's sudden display of religion before jumping through herself, not expecting what happened next)
THE NEXT DAY, ABOUT 8:30 AM; AIYEN P.O.V.
"I figured dat after we left de Astral Plain, you would jus' go back ta living in my head." I heard the door to the Med Lab slide open, looking over my spirit's shoulder to see Jean standing there in shock. Exchanging a glance and a shrug with Phantom, I rushed into an explaination before Jean even asked. "Hiya Jean, it's been awhile. Dis is Phantom, dough she seems to have calmed down since de las' time you met. Say hi, before I drow you back into my head and leave you dere." "Hello ma'am, and you won't leave me there because your mind is a fragile thing Cajun."
"Um, I'll be... Right back... SCOTT!!" Jean ran out of the room, returning a few minutes later with Cyclops and the Professor. The Professor instantly started questioning Phantom, but Cyclops didn't find the spirit trustworthy enough to get within 20 feet of. "I don't know how that thing got a physical body, but it caused enough trouble when it was using Aiyen's to try and kill us." "Be nice Scott, I only went back upstairs so somebody could tell me I'm not insane." "But I'm telling the truth, this thing could have killed us three times." "But she didn't, and you just don't like Aiyen because she knocked you out."
"Exactly how did you come to gain a physical body, if all you did was exit the Astral Plain?" "I don't know, I did what I normally do before I leave the Astral Plain if I need to take over Aiyen's body. I said a prayer and jumped through the portal, which usually forces Aiyen's mentality into a room in her mind so I can have control." "So in other words, you live on the Astral Plain until Aiyen needs your help, or you just want to take over?" "Qui, that's what I do." "Hm, this could be an interesting turn of events. We could use the extra help, and the powers Jean mentioned you using on the mission to save Niala aren't recognized by Cerebro. If you don't mind being a small experiment, we might be able to find out what caused your materialization." "Well, it's not like you can kill me or anything. Just to get it out in the open, Aiyen can't lose control while I'm out of her body. So as long as I stay in this form, you have nothing to worry about." "Is there a reason you're using telepathy, instead of speaking normally?" "I can't verbally speak unless I speak French, I've already tried that since materializing." "Hm, interesting. Come with me for a moment, Beast might have an easier time figuring out what caused this than I am."
"Hold it, kiddo! Put dis on, de las' ding we need is for you to destroy de mansion." I dug around in my pocket until I found what I was after, a silver bracelet a psychic had given me to keep Phantom in check before I left Germany. I had to buckle it around her ankle to keep it from slipping off, but as long as it was touching her skin she wouldn't have any issues with control or even be able to use her powers. "I thought you were told not to take this thing off, no matter how much control you thought you had over me." I blushed and handed Phantom to Professor Xavier, getting up and stretching. "Shut up and go wid Professor Xavier, and don' kill anybody!"
I sat back down so Jean could check my wounds one last time, leaving the room when she said they were good enough to live normally and finished lecturing on the importance of keeping them clean and bandaged to prevent infection. I headed up to my room, sensing a strong feeling of boredom from my spirit. Before I even got to the stairs, I saw Kurt and Niala sitting around reading. Or rather Kurt was reading and Niala was hiding behind a book and looking at him. The only hint I needed to know this: Niala was holding her book upside down and the title was written in French. Recognizing the look on my friends face as the one Havok occasionally gave me(and vice versa), I decided it was time to play matchmaker.
'Niala, it's easier to get to know a guy when you TALK to him. And a little bit of a head's up, pick a book you can actually read.' 'Whaddya mean?' 'That one's in French, and it's called "The Witching Hour" in case he asks.' 'Um... DAMN IT!' I watched as Niala headed for the library, giving me time to give Kurt a little advice. 'Talk to her, Kurt.'
'Huh?' 'I said talk to her, she's just as religious as you are. Bring the conversation around to the Bible, or some other religion based subject.' 'Why are you telling me this?' 'Because you look like you could use a friend or two, and Niala is one of the few people in the world who doesn't judge a person by the way they look.' I looked toward the library, seeing Niala comming back and deciding it was a good idea to vanish upstairs. 'See ya Kurt, and just think about what I said.'
I ducked upstairs and put my mental blocks back up, running into Remy on the way to my room. He muttered a quiet "Happy Birthday" before continuing on his way. I just went to my room and left the door open behind me. Grabbing a book from my back pack, I left the room and pulled the door closed. Drachenreider, huh? I remember getting this, Havok got it for me on my 8th birthday. Poor Havok, I hope he got up after Niala borrowed his powers. Realizing that I wasn't wearing any shoes I jumped onto the banister and slid down in my socks, landing nimbly at the bottom of the stairs and taking a seat to read.
