“If I am to take of this restraint I will have to cut if off. I don’t have the magical energy required to break the seal so cutting it off with my demonic energy is the only way. I realize that you don’t have any reason to trust me, but right now I’m the only one that will be able to do it. So I’m sorry about this, but you need to get that thing taken off. If you don’t want to I understand of course, though I don’t see much sense in keeping it on.” Alex’s voice was strained and soft and Brittany was sure if he spoke any louder his voice would crack. Brittany shook her head at how clueless Alex was as she took his hand and placed it on her restraint as she nodded for him to go ahead.
“Are you sure?” Alex asked hesitantly. Brittany nodded once again as Alex sighed and nodded slowly. “Okay, please be careful and try not to move.” Brittany sat perfectly still as Alex held her face in his left hand. He studied her restraint once again before raising his right hand and allowing his nails to grow. Just as he was about to bring them to Brittany’s restraint the door to the room opened and Rire stepped in. Both Alex and Brittany turned to look in his direction as he stood in the doorway while Kiba yelled at him to leave them alone.
“Don’t you dare disturb them you bastard! They need some damn time alone to sort things out they don’t need you to go in there and interfere!” Kiba yelled at Rire.
“I’m sorry my Lord. I know you wanted to speak with this woman but there is something of importance I must discuss with you.” Rire said firmly unaffected by Kiba’s curses. Alex turned his gaze from Kiba to Rire as he glared at him. Brittany couldn’t believe how quickly Rire’s confidence left him as he welted under Alex’s gaze.
“You are correct I do want to speak with her. In case you haven’t realized she is the entire reason I left my castle and nearly died for! What do you think could possibly be more important than her if I went through all that to bring her back? Don’t you dare stand before me and tell me that you possibly believe you have something of more importance to discuss with me than the very reason for which I have just put myself at the mercy of the council for! I just attacked a fellow demon lord without formal provocation which means the council can punish me if they desire it. Now knowing all that I have risked, all that I have sacrificed just so that I could see her again, what can you tell me is more important?” Alex dared Rire to answer his question. Even though Alex’s attention was focused on Rire, everyone else’s attention was focused on Alex.
Did he really just say what I think he said? Brittany thought in amazement at what Alex had revealed in his burst of anger. Does having me next to him, really mean that much to him?
Heh, that’s one hell of a way for you to tell her that you’ve missed her lad. Although I must admit, I do believe you got your point across pretty well. Kiba thought as he smiled brightly. Not to mention I like the way Rire’s looking, as if the Devil himself was standing before him beckoning him to come to Hell. Not so high and mighty now are you?
All of Rire’s confidence and composure came to a crashing end as he paled beneath Alex’s penetrating gaze. “I’m sorry my Lord. You are correct. Your mate is more important than anything I needed to discuss. I shall wait until you are ready to see me.”
Just as Rire turned to leave Brittany grabbed Alex’s hand a shook her head fervently for him not to let Rire leave.
“You mean you want to go and let him stay?” Alex asked, unable to mask the disappointment on his face. Brittany nodded slowly as she hugged Alex and quickly walked towards the door. Dammit! I was soo close to being free of this damn restraint and finally being able to talk to him. Still, I’m sure whatever Rire wants to talk to him about is more important, regardless of what Alex says. I’ll get this restraint off just as soon as they are through and then we can talk. If I can wait a few days to hear the truth, I can wait a few minutes.
Alex was shocked by Brittany’s sudden hug and couldn’t help but smile as she left. Maybe there’s hope yet. Alex’s face became stone cold and emotionless as he turned back to Rire who stood uncomfortably by the doorway. “Kiba, keep her close so that I can take her restraint off, this shouldn’t take long.”
“Yes my Lord.” Kiba said with a smirk as he looked in Rire’s direction. I almost feel sorry for the bastard. He just got on the Lord’s bad side very quickly. “Hold up lass, tell me what happened in there.”

“So, despite the fact that as of right now I would love nothing more than to rip you limb from limb...I am grateful for the fact that you were smart enough to take haven inside the barrier. I wouldn’t be alive if you hadn’t.” Alex said, never losing his angry tone or cold demeanor.
“I am sorry for intruding on you my Lord. Still, I am glad some good came of Ryza, for without him telling you that we were here you surely would have died.” Rire said softly afraid that anything he would say would make Alex even madder.
“Do you always speak without knowing the facts?” Alex countered. “Ryza told me that all the elves had been captured and taken by Zanatos. I was simply hoping that you were the brilliant tactician I had remembered and taken haven inside of here. I’ll admit, it was a bit of a gamble on my part, but I figured that someone like you wouldn’t be taken so easily.”
“Wait, you mean you came here, opened up a door to the barrier causing more damage to yourself and you didn’t even know if we would be here to heal you!” Rire exclaimed in astonishment that anyone could be so reckless.
“Yeah that about sums it up.” Alex admitted. “But hey it worked out in the end didn’t it? Now, judging by the fact that you brought me here and haven’t either thrown us out yet or tried to kill us I’m guessing that you have some questions for me.”
Rire regained his composure as Alex’s gaze became softer. “Yes my Lord.”
“Well now, this ought to be interesting. To be honest I was testing you earlier to see wether or not you truly believed what you have heard. Seeing how you reacted I know I have your trust. So what is it that you want to know?” Alex asked as he leaned forward intently listening to what Rire had to say.

“You better hurry lass before the Lord decides that he should come out and find you.” Kiba said with a smirk. “For one he doesn’t have any clothes cause they’re still covered in his blood, for another he would probably end up reopening all his wounds. So for Heaven’s sake get in there before he kills himself.”
Brittany didn’t need anymore encouragement as she quickly opened up the door and hurried to Alex’s side. Alex seemed calmer as well as he gazed at Brittany. “Now, where were we? Here, make sure to sit still, I don’t want to hurt you, not again.”
Brittany sat still as Alex instructed and let Alex take hold of her face once again. “If you want you can close your eyes.” Alex offered. Brittany shook her head softly, showing that she trusted him. Alex nodded and gave a soft smile as his nails grew. With expert precision Alex struck at the restraint in a blur of motion. Brittany felt the restraint loosen from around her mouth as Alex gently retracted his claws and took the restraint off her. “There, feel any better?”
“Yes...thank you.” Brittany said as she gingerly rubbed her jaw. Before he realized what he was doing Alex caressed Brittany’s cheek with his hand as he looked at all the bruises that covered her skin and face.
“I should’ve killed Celine for what she did to you.” Alex said softly. The look of love that filled his eyes couldn’t be hidden no matter how hard he tried. Finally after realizing what he had done he dropped his hand and looked away from her. “I’m sure you’re probably hungry, there’s food in the room a few doors down from here.”
“I don’t want any food Alex. Right now all I want to do is be with you.” Brittany said finally as she brought herself closer to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. “The first thing I want these lips to feel, are your lips.” Alex was astonished at Brittany’s reaction as she brought his face down to meet her and pulled him into a deep, passionate kiss. Alex wrapped his arms around her waist as he pulled her into a deeper kiss. Alex slipped his tongue into her mouth as a small moan escaped Brittany’s lips. Both of the young lovers soon pulled away as they gazed at each other, each one wondering what the other one was thinking. It was finally Alex who broke the silence.
“How...after everything, can you still want to be with me?” Alex asked. He closed his eyes afraid of her answer. “I haven’t even explained to you why yet, and you still...you still care about me?”
“Alex, you are totally clueless aren’t you?” Brittany asked with a coy smile. “I never stopped loving you. I want you to tell me everything, I want to know all about why you said what you did, and what I really mean to you, but you said that there will be a time and a place for that. All I can do is wait and trust that you will tell me.”
“I really don’t deserve you, you know that?” Alex said after absorbing all that Brittany had just told him. “I may not can tell you, exactly what I want to here, but as soon as we get back to the castle I shall tell you everything. There is however one thing I can tell you without fear of anyone knowing, for no matter how hard I may try to hide it I cannot. Brittany, I love you, and nothing anyone can do or say will ever change that.” Brittany snuggled closer to Alex as she heard these words. She rested her head on his chest as she looked up at him.
“Do you know how long I’ve waited for you to say that?” Brittany asked.
“About as long as I’ve wanted to tell you it.” Alex replied with a smirk. He reached down and kissed Brittany again. He winced slightly as Brittany moved beneath him hitting his chest. Brittany quickly moved away from him as she stood up.
“Alex I’m sorry! Your wounds still haven’t healed yet, are you okay? Why don’t you let me heal them for you?” Brittany asked as she looked at him with worry.
“Yeah, I’m fine and as much as I’d like you to heal them, I’m afraid you’ll need all your magical energy tomorrow for our departure. I’ll need you to cast the teleportation spell so that we can get back home before Zanatos or anyone tries to attack. Besides my wounds aren’t that bad, and hey, at least I didn’t catch on fire this time.” Alex said with a small laugh. Brittany breathed a sigh of relief as she realized that Alex was starting to act more like his old self.
“Don’t joke about that. Do you know how terrified I was?” Brittany said with a disapproving look.
“Do you know how much pain I was feeling? Hell, if I can talk about being burned from the inside out without any regrets so should you.” Alex replied. Before anyone could say anything else Brittany’s stomach growled. “Why don’t you go get yourself something to eat and come back okay? You haven’t eaten in nearly two days.”
“I’m fine. I just want to make sure you’re okay.” Brittany replied stubbornly.
“Well as my mate you have to do what I say, therefore go get you some damn food and then come back. Nothing’s going to happen to me in a few minutes.” Alex said with a laugh. “Just go, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. At least not until tomorrow.”
“Fine, but you better be here when I get back.” Brittany retorted as she kissed his quickly on the lips and headed towards the door.
“I promise.” Alex replied as he relaxed again. God it’s good seeing her again. I didn’t realize how much I truly missed her until I had her back. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll be back home and I’ll be able to tell her everything that I should’ve told her from the beginning. I didn’t realize how much energy my body has been using to heal myself. Evidently its been a lot seeing as how my little stunt to destroy her restraint as nearly drained me. I feel as if I’m about to pass out.
