Brittany walked to Alex’s room and hesitated trying to decide wether or not she should knock. Finally she decided to just walk on in. “Hey Alex, you awake?”
“Whoa! Watch out!” Alex called as he almost fell over trying to put on his pants as Brittany walked in. Brittany ran towards Alex to keep him from falling as she held onto his arm to steady him. “Thanks, sorry, I was expecting you and I figured I might as well get into my own clothes.”
“Its okay, its nothing I haven’t seen before.” Brittany giggled.
“True, very true.” Alex said as he leaned over to kiss Brittany. Brittany could sense the longing in Alex’s actions even though he was obviously trying to restrain himself. “So, how did things go with Kiba?”
“They went well, he told me everything.” Brittany said finally as Alex buttoned his pants. He was about to put on his shirt when he stopped and turned to face her.
“So, you can see now why he harbor’s such feelings against the elves.” Alex replied. He stopped as he noticed Brittany yawn slightly as she looked at him. Alex hesitated before saying what was on his mind. “Your tired, why don’t you crash here tonight.”
Brittany looked at him with shock before smiling. “Are you saying that because you want me, or because you want to get inside of me?” Brittany asked with a sly smile. It was now Alex’s turn to be shocked as his cheeks flushed crimson.
“What I’m saying is that you are my mate, and therefore I’d like you to sleep with me. I’m not about to take advantage of you if that’s what you mean.” Alex said as he regained his composure. Brittany smiled as she wrapped her arms around him and leaned forward to gently kiss his lips.
“You wouldn’t be taking advantage of me you know. I’m your mate, you have the right to me whenever you desire.” Brittany said.
“Don’t think of me as so pathetic that I would use that against you.” Alex said coldly. “I’m not about to force myself on you, I have better control of myself than that.”
Brittany rolled her eyes at how serious Alex was becoming as she pressed herself harder against his body. She felt Alex tense as she kissed his neck, and then his lips. “Don’t look so serious Alex I was only joking. I’m not that tired and I’ve missed you at night.” Brittany whispered. She saw Alex had his eyes closed as he breathed sharply. She felt him become hard as she pressed her legs against his and she knew that he wouldn’t be able to contain himself much longer.
“Are you implying what I believe you’re implying?” Alex asked in a strained voice. His lust and longing was now painfully obvious as he wrapped his arms around Brittany waiting for her answer. Brittany nodded slowly as she whispered in Alex’s ear.
“I’m yours.” Brittany whispered. With those words Alex could contain himself no longer. Brittany’s moans and screams of pleasure arose from the room as both her and Alex released themselves, giving way to the urges they had kept pent up for what seemed like ages. After they were through Alex held Brittany in his arms, his arms wrapped around right beneath her naked breasts as he kissed the back of her neck softly. I was barely able to contain myself, that’s not good. I know I was rougher with her tonight than I should have been, if I’m not careful I might seriously hurt her. I’ve got to keep my demonic urges at bay before I scare her, or hurt her.
“Are you okay?” Alex whispered as he looked over at Brittany.
“Sore, but other than that I feel great.” Brittany said wearily. “I can’t believe how much I longed to let you do that while I was gone. I’m glad you came back for me, I don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t.”
“I told you I’d always be there for you. I wasn’t lying when I said that.” Alex replied. “I can relate to how you feel though. I’ve missed having you beside me at night, in more ways than one. Still, I am sorry if I hurt you tonight.”
“You didn’t, you were just a little...harder this time.” Brittany admitted. “I really didn’t mind though, it felt good.”
“Heh, I could tell. You gave me more than enough sings to let me know.” Alex laughed as Brittany playfully rolled over and stuck her tongue out at him.
“I can’t help what my body does.” Brittany pouted.
“You make it sound like I was complaining.” Alex replied softly as he kissed Brittany’s lips before she could reply. Alex then became very serious as he spoke. “Still, if ever I should hurt you, tell me to stop okay. I’m...I’m having a hard time trying to control myself when I’m with you, and I’m honestly afraid that one time I might not be able to subdue my urges.”
“Are you saying you’re afraid that I won’t be able to handle you?” Brittany teased.
“Brittany I’m serious. Its taking everything I have not to lose control when I’m around you!” Alex said seriously as his eyes darkened. “I don’t want to lose you again. I couldn’t stand it if I were to scare you away from me.” Brittany stopped Alex as she placed a finger on his lips to silence him.
“Listen you’re not going to scare me away from you. I know there’s things about being a demon’s mate that I’m going to have to get used to. If you ever do lose control and you start hurting me, I’ll send you flying across the room with a spell.” Brittany replied playfully. “But for tonight lets not think of such things. Right now I just want to enjoy the fact that I’m here with you and that we’re together. Which reminds me, Alex?”
“Yes.” Alex replied still deep in thought.
“Do you think tomorrow it would be okay if you were to show me around here before we have to leave? You said that you would if you ever got the chance.” Brittany said almost pleadingly.
“Heh, yes of course I will.” Alex agreed.
“Thank you!” Brittany exclaimed as she excitedly kissed Alex before cuddling into his arms. “Thank you for everything.”
Before Alex could say anything Brittany was hard and fast asleep in his arms. “I really don’t deserve someone as innocent and carefree as you. I hope you don’t become tainted by the darkness surrounding this world.” Alex said softly as he kissed Brittany’s forehead before falling into a deep sleep.
* * * * * * * *
The next morning Alex awoke earlier than he had intended to as he felt Brittany move beneath him. He stiffened slightly as he gently slipped out beside Brittany and quietly began to throw on his clothes. For a moment I was afraid that last night and all of yesterday was nothing but a dream. That when I would wake, she would be gone and I would never be able to get her back. She probably won’t wake for another hour or so, so I’ll take this time to go for a little walk.
Alex kneeled beside the sleeping form of Brittany as he softly kissed her lips. Brittany began to smile in her sleep as Alex ran his hand through her hair. “Alex...” Brittany said without opening her eyes.
“Shh, sleep. I will be back shortly.” Alex promised as he stood up and quietly exited his room. Alex headed out the front of the building and stretched slightly before walking towards the edge of the woods. Any elves that he met nodded and smiled at him before quickly making their leave. This is going to take some getting used to. These elves are giving me more respect than my own subjects. Alex thought dryly as he shook his head. As soon as he reached the forest edge he began a fast sprint through out the woods covering as much ground as possible and taking everything he saw as he ran.
It feels good to be able to run again. My body feels like its almost back to a hundred percent. That’s good, I’ll need my strength back in case we run into any trouble when we return home. Alex thought as he ran. Alex slowed down his pace as he noticed a familiar form kneeling before him. Alex skidded to a halt before the pegasus as he knelt beside it. The pegasus wheezed softly in gasps as blood pooled around it.
“No! Shit, this can’t be happening!” Alex said as he examined the pegasus’s wound on its side. It appeared as if it had been stabbed in the side with something, but Alex didn’t know what did it. There’s no way I’ll be able to get it back to the village before it dies. This isn’t good. The elves wouldn’t dare hurt a creature here, so that means someone besides the elves is here.
Alex spoke to the pegasus, trying to find out if it knew who attacked it. The pegasus shook its head weakly as Alex told it not to move. Its suffering, I can’t just leave it here. Alex slowly stroked the pegasus’s mane before asking the creature what it would like Alex to do. The pegasus replied as blood began to drip from its mouth. “I am sorry. Be safe in the other realm.” Alex said softly as he stabbed his hand through the pegasus’s chest killing it instantly. Alex’s eyes searched the surrounding area for any sign of the person that did this. Alex also sniffed the air, trying to catch the person’s scent. Screw it, if they were good enough to get inside the barrier undetected then there’s no telling if I’d be able to sense them or not. Either way I’d better go speak to Rire about this.
With that thought Alex closed the eyes of the pegasus and stood up. Giving one last look at the fallen pegasus Alex turned back towards the village and ran as fast as he could back there.
As soon as Alex arrived back at the village the elves there were looking at him with wonder and distrust as he ran towards elven temple. Never mind, they are just like my subjects. One minute they love you, then they’re afraid of you, and then they want you dead. I’d better hurry and explain things to Rire before someone decides to make a pincushion out of me.
Just as Alex ran up the steps of the temple Brittany walked out the front doors with a smile as she ran towards him.
“Hey good morning!” Brittany called happily. She stopped as she drew near him and saw the blood dripping from his hand. “What happened?”
“Come with me, I’ll explain on the way.” Alex replied without slowing down his pace. Brittany had to nearly run to catch up with him as he told her what had happened during his run.
“That’s awful! Who would do that? Better yet why would they do that and how were they able to get through the barrier?” Brittany asked, her mind racing with all the information she had just heard.
“That’s what I’m trying to find out.” Alex said as he threw open the doors to an inner room and walked quickly in to find himself standing before Rire and four other elves, one of them being Eltrio.
“What is it my Lord?” Rire asked looking at Alex’s expression and down at the blood dripping off of his hand.
“We’ve got trouble.” Alex said coldly as he re-counted his adventure in the woods once again for Rire’s benefit. The five elves had become very solemn after hearing Alex’s words as they upon Alex with stern expressions.
“You saw no one while you were there?” Rire asked in a calm almost emotionless tone.
“No, I searched but couldn’t find a trace of any intruders. Whoever it was must be very powerful to be able to get through the barrier without being detected.” Alex replied.
“Or they were already inside the barrier and killed the pegasus when they went out to the woods.” Eltrio argued as he glared daggers at Alex.
“That is enough Eltrio. We have no need for that in here. You know who he is, why would he attack the pegasus?” Rire asked.
“Simple, so he can create a crystal like the original demon Lord had.” Eltrio argued.
“Are you really that incompetent?” Alex asked with indignation. “I don’t have the magical power to do something like that and neither do she. So just who in the hell do you propose would make something like that for me?”
“What about the mages, you still hold them in high regard.” Eltrio snapped.
“You really have been in here a long time haven’t you?” Alex replied coldly. “The mages despise me with a passion. They are nothing more than Zanatos’s pets now.”
“Still this is a very disturbing revelation.” Rire mused. “I’ll send out some of our trackers to see if they can find any sign of who might’ve done this.”
“Thank you.” Alex said he was about to leave when he looked at Brittany and remembered his promise to her. “Rire, I have one last favor to ask of you.”
“Yes my Lord?” Rire asked turning from talking to Eltrio back to Alex.
“I promised her that I would show her around this place before we leave for the castle, and I don’t want to do it without your permission.” Alex said glaring at Eltrio. “That way if you trust me enough to go alone in the woods no one else should have any problems with it either.”
Rire nodded at Alex’s suggestion as he looked back over at Eltrio. “I want you to gather some of the other’s and search the woods for any sign of the monster that killed the pegasus. Also, I don’t want you to harass the Lord while he is out there either. Do you understand me Eltrio? I have no reason to believe that the Lord would do something as kill the creature that saved his life and neither should you.” Rire warned. He then turned back to Alex and nodded. “You may do as you please, but please inform me before you leave.”
“Of course.” Alex replied as he turned around and wrapped his arm around Brittany’s waist while motioning her to follow him. It was apparent that she was confused by all that had conspired as Alex led her out to the hall.
“Okay question, what made Rire go from not caring wether we live or die to we can do no wrong?” Brittany asked eyeing Alex with suspicion. “He’s been like this ever since that conversation with the pegasus, and now the pegasus is dead. What’s going on Alex?”
“I’m not sure in all honestly.” Alex sighed as he rested against the wall and leaned his head back. “This really doesn’t make much sense to me either. I’m not sure how someone managed to get inside the barrier without alerting someone to their presence. Much less be able to kill the pegasus and leave again. Still, this doesn’t bode well for the future. If someone got the pegasus blood and knew how to create another crystal like the original demon Lord’s it could start another war.”
“So you’re saying that someone killed the pegasus to create another crystal, and not just because it happens to know something very important?” Brittany asked, skeptical of what Alex was telling her.
“Yes and no.” Alex admitted as he looked at her. He smirked as he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her softly on the lips. “I’m saying that, that’s all I can tell you right now.”
Brittany looked up at Alex with a knowing look in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “One of these days you I will know everything about you. You said that yourself. So all I can do is wait for you to tell me and believe that you will. Let’s face it, I love you.”
Alex smiled as he bent forwards and kissed Brittany again and whispered in her ear. “Thank you.”
“Now, I believe that for my cooperation you promised to show me around this place.” Brittany teased, still holding onto Alex. “So, are you?”
“But of course. I am a demon of my word after all. Let me tell Kiba what’s going on though, and just as soon as we’re through we need to leave.” Alex said. His eyes glistened with mischief as he tightened his grip around Brittany’s waist and twirled her around with ease, both of them laughing with joy. When Alex finally stopped and sat Brittany down she realized why Alex was acting so flirtatious all of a sudden.
He’s trying not to worry me with all that’s going on. Something’s wrong with this whole thing, and Alex doesn’t want me to find out. That’s why he’s trying to keep me occupied so I won’t ask questions. The worst part about all of this is even though I should be furious for trying to keep me in the dark...I can’t. After seeing just a little of what happened in his past, I’m pretty sure he has good reasons for keeping me in the dark, I just don’t want him to think he has to. Brittany thought. She grabbed Alex’s hands as she stared him in the eyes. “You don’t have to pretend in front of me. I’m not stupid Alex, I know something’s going on. Something that you’re not going to tell me until you think you can, so quit pretending as if everything’s okay.” Brittany said looking Alex directly in the eyes. I can see the darkness surrounding his thoughts. He won’t admit it, but he’s uncertain about what’s happening around here and that uncertainty scares him.
Alex’s expression became darker as he nodded slowly. “You’re right. I don’t mean to keep things from you, I just....” Brittany stopped Alex before he could say more.
“We’ve been over this, and I know there’s a reason. So let’s not talk about it anymore. You don’t have to pretend that nothing’s wrong, but lets not dwell on it either.” Brittany said softly.
“I don’t deserve you, you know that?” Alex said with sad smile as he lifted Brittany’s chin up so he could kiss her.
“I know.” Brittany said playfully. “But don’t think that means you’re going to get away with not showing me around. I want to see all the creatures.”
“I am, let me go find Kiba real quick and I’ll be right back. If you want you can wait outside and I’ll come find you okay.” Alex said as he finally released Brittany.
“Okay, hurry up though.” Brittany teased as she hurried to the front door. Alex shook his head in amazement as he went in the opposite direction to find Kiba. When he finally found him he was talking to one of the elves that Alex guessed was supposed to go check on the pegasus. For when Kiba turned towards Alex that was the first thing he brought up.
“My Lord who do you think could’ve done it?” Kiba asked.
“I’m not sure, but whoever it was won’t be dumb enough to be caught. Listen I’m taking Brittany to show her some of the creatures here. We shouldn’t be too long and just as soon as we get back we’re leaving.” Alex replied. He then lowered his voice as he looked at Kiba with worry. “How are you holding up?”
“I’m fine. The lass talked to me last night.” Kiba said as he smiled at Alex. “Thank you for letting me be the one to tell her.”
“Heh, no problem. I figured you’d want to tell her yourself.” Alex said shifting his eyes towards the ground. “I never talked to her about what you said, did you tell her everything?”
Kiba looked up realizing what Alex was implying and shook his head slowly. “No my Lord. I told her only what she needed to hear. I didn’t go into anymore detail about what happened during the search. I felt if you wanted her to know that you would’ve told her yourself. I figured that was the reason that you wanted me to tell her myself. You wouldn’t have been able to keep anything from her if she had asked you, would you?”
“I don’t honestly know. I can’t deny her, that is painfully obvious. It’s taking all my will power to keep from telling her the whole truth. In time I shall, but not now.” Alex smiled as he placed his hand on Kiba’s shoulder. “I’d better go. She’d kill me if I didn’t show her around. We should be gone no longer than an hour.”
“Aye, I will have everything ready when you return.” Kiba said as Alex turned and headed back towards the temple. A demon Lord, taking orders from a human. Will wonder’s never cease. Still lad, when will you tell her the truth? When will you tell her the reason that you’re so secretive about your past.
“Whoa! Watch out!” Alex called as he almost fell over trying to put on his pants as Brittany walked in. Brittany ran towards Alex to keep him from falling as she held onto his arm to steady him. “Thanks, sorry, I was expecting you and I figured I might as well get into my own clothes.”
