Malon steps off from the horse and lands softly on the ground. Before she even steps one foot, she finds her ranch to be in shambles. She covers her mouth with her right hand as she stands in utter shock. Link jumps down off the horse and puts his arm around her shoulder. She turns around and begins crying on his chest. He holds her in his arms and rubs her back to try and comfort her. His tunic is soon covered in tears. Link’s heart begins to feel connected to hers, and feels sad that this has had to happen to her. Meanwhile he tries to look around to see if there is any sign to what might have happened.

“Malon, see if you can calm down. I’ll go look around to see if whatever caused this is still around.” Link says in a calm collected voice.

Malon lets go of him and wipes her face clean with her sleeve. She bobs her head up and down to show she’ll be okay as she stays still by Epona. Link pulls out the master sword and carries it with both hands. He quietly steps on the ground with his leather boots to avoid excessive noise. He keeps his ears attentive trying to keep an ear open for any noises to indicate sudden movements. But everything is silent, and the only thing that can be heard is the howling of the wind.

Link hears a loud moo and runs into the ram-sacked barn. He looks around only to see a cow outside of its stall. Link grabs his chest in relief and laughs to himself. He pets the cow on its head only to find a pair of hooves in his face.

“Chill cow, I wasn’t going to steal your milk,” Link laughs to himself while rubbing his head.

The cow doesn’t look happy though and it begins scratching the ground with its front hooves. The cow’s spots become a dark purple and its eyes turn to a solid white. The cow laughs demonically and charges at Link at full speed. Link back flips off of the floor and onto a crate behind to avoid the cow’s raging attack. The cow runs at the crate now and manages to hit it dead on making Link lose his balance. He puts his sword back in its sheath and pulls out the megaton hammer as he touches the ground. He rears his arms back and slams the cow on the center of its head with the hammer knocking it unconscious.

Link mumbles under his breath, “I have fought many things, but I never thought I would be fighting a cow. Something isn’t right here. Cows just don’t attack people.”

Link pulls out the lens of truth and peers into it. He finds that an evil spirit, much like the ones in the graveyard, is floating over the cow’s unconscious body. Link puts the lens of truth away and pulls out a bottle. He reaches forward and captures the ghost in a bottle. Link looks at the bottle carefully noticing the ghost has turned into a purple flame. He puts away the bottle away and grasps a hold of the Megaton hammer again.
