ML: Well… Back with chapter ten! Maybe after this one could be the final chapter, who knows?

 

Athrun: Well… it was fun. Anyway… While the cops were beating down on me, Kira gets Lacus out while Dearka tries to find out what's REALLY going on here.

 

ML: Yeah. Anyway, I don't own GS, but I do own all original characters. ROLL IT!

 

 

Chapter 10: Cabin Invasion

 

(WEEKS LATER)

 

Athrun walked out of the hospital, and he wasn't in a very good mood. The diagnosis was this: Various bruises, a broken left arm and a shoulder separation. As he drove home though, he wondered how Kira and Lacus were doing. However, he couldn't shake the fact he could possibly be followed, and he was right.

 

Kira and Lacus were outside of Cagalli's cabin. The scenery was beautiful, but still, they had to be REALLY careful. But little did they know that Yzak was a few feet away, and he got on the line to the Livornos.

 

Johnny was waiting by the office with old man Vincenzo. He then heard the phone ring. “Yeah?”

 

“Johnny. We've got their location.” Yzak said.

 

“Well then, I'll take our execution squad, and that witness and her bodyguard will be as good as dead!” Johnny said. Both parties hung up. Then Johnny said, “All right boys, we've got one dead witness!” The mobsters immediately made for the cabin.

 

Meanwhile, Athrun was running away from the tail, and he realized, `Oh shit. Looks like this guy won't be easy to lose.' He was right. He immediately began to run, and the tail caught up to him and tackled him to the wall. He saw the badge. It was another crooked cop.

 

Vincenzo was riding to the location, and saw the cop. He paid him off, and said, “Remember, you didn't see this.”

 

“All right.” The cop said. He then turned to Athrun, and said, “So, what's up?”

 

“Enough with the small talk, why were you tailing me?” Athrun asked.

 

“Your friends are in trouble. Yzak's been on the payroll of the Livornos. A few others and myself worked as inside men.” The cop, whose name was Eric, explained.

 

“Well, I know were the cabin they are is. Just get me over there.” Athrun said, and the two went off. When they reached the cabin, Eric immediately placed a call to Dearka's precinct to prepare the SWAT team.

 

Meanwhile, back at the cabin, Kira and Lacus were snuggling on the couch, and it was then that the doorbell rang. “I'll get it.” Kira said. It would turn out to be a big mistake, as the Livornos were at the door.

 

Johnny said, “Ah. The bodyguard.” He then knocked out Kira with the butt of his gun. Lacus saw it, and ran over to him, but Johnny immediately fired a shot. Luckily, it grazed her.

 

“You shouldn't have seen what you saw that night.” Johnny said.

 

“You know, young lady, you can put us away for a long time.” Vincenzo said. “You know what? It will not happen.” Vincenzo shot Lacus again. This time, in the legs.

 

“Lacus…” Kira said, as he was starting to come to. “Run.” He went for his gun, but another mobster saw it, and fired at his hand. Luckily he missed, and Kira aimed at him, killing him with one shot. But then, Johnny took his gun to Lacus' head.

 

“So, Mr. Yamato. It's your choice, drop the gun and give it to me, or watch me as I shoot your lady love.” Johnny said. It was a tense standoff. The Livornos all had their guns trained. “Besides, either way, I don't think you'll get any good out of it.” Just as he finished the sentence, both Vincenzo and Johnny heard “Step out with your hands up!”

 

“Petruzzo! Who is that outside?” Vincenzo asked.

 

“It's SWAT.” Petruzzo answered.

 

“That's it! Kill the witness!” Vincenzo yelled. But just before Johnny can pull the trigger, the sniper outside immediately pulled the trigger, and shot him instantly. He fell to the ground dead. Vincenzo just decided, with his family, to walk out, hands up.

 

Dearka, Athrun, Lacus and Kira were all seeing the mobsters being loaded onto various paddy wagons and cruisers. “Well, money laundering, racketeering, witness intimidation and murder… they'll go away for one long time.” Dearka said.

 

“Yeah.” Kira replied. He still felt a bit down, however, as his assignment was now over. “So Athrun, guess it's back to the office and to the paperwork?”

 

“Sure.” Athrun said. But before both PIs could go, Lacus stopped Kira.

 

“Do you think we'll see each other again?” Lacus asked.

 

“We will. If you don't decide to accept witness protection.” Kira said, as he kissed Lacus. “By the way, I love you. I loved you then, and I haven't stopped.”

 

“I love you too, Kira.” Lacus said, and both parties walked away.
