Chapter 7

The Lines are Drawn

Wufei never made it back to his house that night. Since the newly bought house came completely furnished, Malcom and Kyle threw a house-getting party for the five of them. Never in Wufei's 21 years of age had he consumed so much alcohol. By the end of the night even Duo was incapable of standing. Heero, Duo and Wufei crashed in the spare bedrooms. Wufei sprawled all over his while Heero and Duo cuddled down the middle. All too soon morning came and with it the cursed hangovers. Wufei went stumbling into the kitchen shirtless in search of life saving coffee. He was soon followed by Heero and Duo who seemed to be unable to hold them selves up alone and were resting against each other. Well they were resting but their fingers were walking. Finally Kyle filled five mugs full of coffee and the only sounds heard in the kitchen were the sipping and muffled giggling and slapping of flesh (from Duo and Heero's direction). After about his fifth cup, Wufei was human enough to turn in his sear and fix the two pilots with a searching look. Hiding a smiling, Wufei quirked an eyebrow, “something you two want to share with the rest of us?”

Duo blushed and hide his face in Heero's naked shoulder. Heero simply picked up his coffee and shared a smirk with Wufei. Wufei laughed while Kyle and Malcom smiled. “About time you two got together. Thought poor Heero here was going to die of sexual frustration.” Wufei roared with laughter and clutched his head as Heero chocked on his coffee, his face burning red.

“Congratulations you two.” Wufei grabbed his coffee and retreated to the living room. He sighed; once again it seems he is the odd one out. Snorting he ignored his pain. Hell it was more than past time for him to move on. He would always love Quatre and Trowa but he wanted someone he could touch, someone that would be his alone. But not today. Meanwhile he'll try to figure out what happened to all their shirts.

Across town Quatre stood frozen before Wufei's opened bedroom door. When he hadn't come out at the announcement of breakfast, Quatre had gone after him. It never occurred to him that Wufei might not have spent the night at home. Turning on his heel, he rushed straight for the phone and called Wufei's cell phone.

Malcom looked around as a ringing noise filled the air in the kitchen. Finally he opened the fridge and saw Wufei's shirt tucked around the milk with the front pocket moving.

“Hey Wufei, your cell phones ringing!” He reached out and grabbed it, closing the door as Wufei walked in. “Why was your shirt in the fridge Wufei?” he asked laughing. Wufei flipped his phone open and grinned at his friend.

“I seem to remember going to the fridge for more beer last night and felt bad for the milk having to be so cold.” Malcom walked out laughing.

Wufei chuckled and brought his phone to his ear. “Chang.”

“Hello Wufei. WHO THE HELL WAS THAT. Or better yet, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?”

Wufei straightened up, “Hey Quatre when did you get in?”

“Last night but answer the question.” Quatre demanded. Wufei frowned at the brisk tone. He wondered into the living room and watched the clean up process.

“That was Malcom. You met him briefly before you left.”

“What the hell are you doing spending the night with him? You barley know him.”

Wufei started. “Same goes for you Quatre. We had a house warming party here last night and we were all too drunk to head home so they were nice enough to let us stay. Do you have a problem with that Quatre?” The others in the room straightened. Duo made to move closer but Heero grabbed his arm.

Quatre stumbled to a halt as he realized what thin ice he was walking on. “No I'm glad you didn't drive after drinking but you could have called us or a taxi or even better could have called Heero or Duo for a lift.”

“Actually Heero and Duo were here with us last night. Needless to say they weren't in any condition to drive either.”

“But Wufei you don't belong there.” Wufei was shocked. Heero restrained Duo from leaping forward and yanking the phone away. The others in the room had no trouble seeing the pain on their friends face.

“Quatre, you are my friend. You are not my lover, brother or father. What I choose to do with my life or who I choose to spend it with is not your concern.” Heero and Duo glanced at each other. Neither of them had any idea what the hell was going on.

“But Wufei….”Quatre's whine was cut off as the phone was snatched from his hand.

“Wufei.”

“Hello Trowa, something you want to add to this conversation too?”

“No, you are free to make your own decisions.” He could hear a scuffle over the phone; Quatre must have tried to take it back. “Just remember that we are here and you don't have to go looking for strangers to fill any spots in your life. We would just prefer it if you came home and didn't stay the night at another man's house.”

“Trowa their hardly strangers anymore. And you two have no say in who I choose to spend my nights with.” Wufei shared a confused look with his friends. Maybe he should start asking what drugs his friends were on lately because this was not like them.

“Damn it Wufei listen to me. You belong here with us not some strange slut who just happened to join Preventers at a good moment. Give me the address and I'll come pick you up.”

Wufei tried to ignore the pain that shot through him. “Oh I see, only a slut would have any interest in me and only if they could get something out of it huh?”

“No that's not what I said but I don't want you spending the night over at some man's house!”

“What business is it of your where I spend my nights?”

“You tell'em Wufei!” Duo shouted, wiggling still in Heero's grip. Malcom and Kyle stood just a few feet from Wufei, both trembling in rage.

“These are the men you live with?” Kyle asked between clenched teeth.

Heero snorted, “Believe it or not they don't usually act this way.”

Malcom walked over and gave Wufei's shoulder a squeeze. “Don't let what their saying get to you Wufei. You deserve better.”

“Dammit, you tell that son of a bitch to stay away from you Wufei!” Quatre shouted, having snatched the phone back.

“Quatre please,” Wufei sighed, “leave my friends out of this.”

“YOU DON'T NEED ANY MORE FRIENDS!” Wufei jerked the phone away from his ear at the roar. Well hell, he didn't plan on using that ear today anyway. Kyle got fed up and yanked the phone from Wufei's stunned hand. Malcom held Wufei back as he attempted to grab it back.

“I'm only going to say this once. You keep your abusive ass away from Wufei or you will deal with us. You have no right to say who he can or can not be friends with. Keep this shit up and quite a few of us will throw your collective asses in jail. Back the fuck off.” Kyle turned the phone off and wrapped Wufei up in his arms.

“I do not understand why those two are acting the way they are.”

“Wufei it is not your fault. You do not have to explain yourself to them; they are not your lovers, just your roommates. Hell I wouldn't even call them your friends.” Malcom shared a quick look with Kyle. “We talked about this last night after the party. We would love it if you moved in with us. There's more than enough room and we would like to pay you back for all the help you've given us. Without you I would have lost my life,” he smiled over at Kyle. “I am so grateful to have met you.”

“I thank you for your offer, but I need to think. This is all happening so fast.” Wufei blinked away his tears. Never before had anyone said such considerate things about him.

“Not to step on any toes here, but you can stay with us too Wufei.” Wufei smiled over at Duo, noticing that instead of struggling to get out now he too had his arms wrapped around Heero.

“Thank you.” He glanced down at his clenched fists and smiled, a nasty idea suddenly popping into his mind.

“I think I know the perfect revenge.” He glanced over at his new friends. “Hey Malcom, how about we continue are little secret but let Kyle here in on the fun.”

Malcom looked confused for all of a moment before an evil grin popped on his face. “Oh ya man, that sounds like fun.”

Heero glanced between them; somehow he had a feeling life was about to get very interesting.
