Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Number 12 ❯ Plan ( Chapter 7 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Warning: Vaguely boring chapter. No sex in this one. My skills may or may not be a little rusty- this one was kind of thrown together.

Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing. But I went to the Pet Fair once, and there was this Sugar Glider there, and the lady let me pet it, and it was soft and fuzzy. It’s eyes were all big- like this: O.O . It went “Ee”. I asked if you could potty train it, and the lady said ‘no’ and that it would probably pee on me soon...then I gave it back.

Author’s note: Holy shit. It’s been over a year since I left this mess off. I’m so sorry I haven’t updated in so long. But I think I may be back in business now. I’ll get started back up on TLMP ASAP. ALSO! I need a few beta readers for a story I’d like to start after my current fanfiction are finished- Number 12 has only 3 more chapters to go- and I really need some people to bounce my idea off of. If anyone is interested, please e-mail me at Minie_Mae@sbcglobal.net.

Advertisement: Swordspoint is the most beautifully written story I have read in a very long time. It’s a fantasy story about life in a city where everything is pretty much settled by sword fighting. The main male characters are wonderfully in love. Ker-yay.

Dedication: To porn. That’s right. Porn.

“Horn lifted his bleached and manicured hand, and slammed it hard across the bound man’s face.

“Alec screamed. The shrill echoes rang in the stone room, hurting Horn’s ears. He dropped his hand and jumped back.

“The red marks of Horn’s hand, rough as a child’s tracing, were rising to the surface of the bound man’s skin. He stared owlishly at Horn, not blinking away the water in his eyes.

“ ‘I’m a coward,’ Alec said. Horn lifted his hand again, to see the other man flinch. ‘I’m afraid of being hurt, I told you so. If you hurt me, I’ll only scream again.’”

Chapter 7
Plan

They found the package waiting for them on the front desk as they walked out. Pearl stopped immediately, shooting an almost guilty look to Gloria.

“Pearl?” Gloria asked, eyes darting between the package and her old friend.

“Dey left a blank package jus’ like dis one dis mornin’. Ah didn’ t’ink anyt’ing of it when de first one came. Didn’ see who left it either. But it’s gotta be abou’ Coldmine. Ah handed de las’ one ovuh t’ mistah Yuy yest’day. Which, accohdin’ t’ de info’mation-”

“I want to see it.”

“Glor, dat’s illegal an’ immoral an’ yew know it.”

“Pearl, right now morality is not the first thing on my mind. If Duo dies it’s my fault.”

“Yer gon’ owe me, luv.”

“This is...this is the place...” Alex murmured anxiously to himself, scanning the crumpled document in his hand. Stuffing it back into his overcoat pocket, he stared up at the apartment complex- about six stories high, and made from an earthy red-brown brick. Looking at the spaces between the windows, as well as the size of them, the scientist assumed that the rooms inside would be fairly large, cozy.

“Three-o-six, that’s the one. Duo Maxwell and Heero Yuy. Both age seventeen. Preventers.” He swallowed harshly. ‘Oh God, what do I say? What if no one’s there? What then? I can’t do any of this alone...’ and then another thought, ‘What if this guy kills me?

But if he didn’t do this, how could he ever face his daughter?
So, taking a deep breath, Alex stepped inside just as two boys stepped out- both parties fixed with set, determined expressions.

“We won’t find anything here.” Wufei said as Trowa pulled into his parking space and turned off the ignition. Neither of the two boys had spoken a word during the length of the trip to the Preventer’s HQ.

“I know.” Trowa replied evenly, “But we need all the help we can get if we’re going to find Duo.”

“Specifics?”

“The HQ has the only computer we have access to with more power than Heero’s laptop. Because the Preventers can obtain the videos of every security camera in the city legally. Which saves us the time of needing to hack into each individual one.”

“Noin and Une will want to know about this. There’s no use hiding it.”

“And no reason. We won’t.”

Pearl had to leave the room almost right after she’d popped in the disc. It was too much for her. It was too much for Gloria, but she forced herself to finish it- a slow, disgusted rage building in the pit of her belly.

Duo’s wracking sobs, his animalistic screaming, would haunt her dreams for many years to come.

“I swear to God, Duo- Every one of the men who did this to you will suffer. I promise you.” She whispered, wiping away tears- uselessly, as they kept falling. “Please hang on. I couldn’t stand it if you died.”

Shaking her head, she turned off the vid screen and removed the disc, debating whether she should bring it to Heero. Would there be any point at all? She felt that it would be senseless cruelty to do so, and then decided to destroy it, for the sake of Duo Maxwell’s dignity, if nothing else.

Gloria took the disc in her shaking hand, reluctantly, as though it were covered in something foul, and stepped out of Pearl’s office.

Pearl was standing at the other side of the lobby- pale- tears making her old eyes glassy.

“Oh, Pearl.” Gloria moaned, and ran to the other woman, who wrapped her in a firm embrace. They cried together a while before the younger forced herself to pull away.

“Ah’ll tek et.” Pearl said softly, relieving Gloria of the vid disc, “No’ne else will evuh see et.”
“Thank you...I wish I hadn’t watched it. I don’t think I’ll ever sleep again...” Wiping her eyes one last time, Gloria turned away.
Her eyes fell on a young man. What struck her first was that he was strikingly handsome. What struck her second was he was also strikingly familiar.
Then it clicked.

“You son of a bitch...”

“Excuse me?” Alex asked, turning startled bright green eyes towards her.

“You son of a bitch! You’re one of them!”

Trowa sat stiffly in front of the most powerful computer at Preventer’s HQ. It was in one of the private rooms on the fourth floor- which was restricted to all personnel unless you had a pass. Trowa Barton, of course, had a pass.

Wufei was in Une’s office, briefing her on the current situation.

Meanwhile, he had found the footage of Duo’s kidnaping. Trowa went from camera to camera, tracking Duo as he ran from place to place in effort to lose his pursuers. Trowa pushed back a bitter pang of guilt as Duo took off down another alley, the van skidding down the road just behind him. The Prussian paused the video after Duo disappeared, and uploaded the footage from the alley security camera, rewinding back to pick up where he had left off. The American had collapsed by a dumpster. He was muttering something to himself, but the video quality was too poor to make it out. A bright light came on, spotlighting Duo and the braided boy was back up on his feet. He rounded another corner so Trowa had to fish up yet another camera. He fastforward. Pressed Play.

“Trowa, what in God’s name is that!?” Une cried from the doorway, staring at the screen, eyes wide.

Trowa Barton did not turn. He stared at Number 12 in a dull horror that grew steadily more sharp. “I don’t know.”

A tiny black and white explosion on screen as the other men on screen shot Duo Maxwell and he collapsed in a heap.

“Oh my God...oh my God, he was shot.” Une gasped, watching the boy go down. Watching the men lifting him up carelessly like a bag of garbage. Watching them lead their...their creature away and off the screen.

Trowa tensely hunted up the next length of footage.

“Trowa, stop.”

He did, then swivelled his chair around to look at his boss, green eyes both questioning and impatient.

“You aren’t going to do this alone. Noin...Sally, Zechs and I. We’re accompanying you.”

“Zechs?” Trowa blinked, now mildly surprised. “I thought he was still working on Mars.”

“Noin is calling him in now.”

“Ah.” The stoic soldier replied, then turned around again and picked up where he left off.

Une pulled a chair up beside him.

~~~~
“We don’t have time for this.” Wufei muttered almost sulkily, pacing the length of Une’s office.
“You don’t even have an idea of how to proceed once you do find him, Chang Wufei.” Sally scolded him, sitting beside Noin, her eyes traveling back and forth with the Mandarin.
“We don’t have time.” He repeated, grumbling but resigned.
“Zechs will be here by nightfall. We’ll have a proper plan by then. There’s no need to take any more risks than is necessary..” Noin pointed out.
Wufei snorted and continued to pace. Five paces right. Turn. Five paces left. Turn. Five paces right. Turn. Five paces-
“Wufei, stop! You’re making me seasick!” Sally moaned, covering her eyes with one hand.
He shot her a glare, in answer, intensely irritated. He stopped and now stood perfectly still. “Marquise had better move quickly. We don’t have time...Duo doesn’t have time.”
~~~~

“You work for them, then?”

Worked. I quit this morning.”

They were all gathered in Heero and Duo’s living room- “they” being Gloria, Alex, and Quatre.

This was the second time Alex had had to explain himself, and it wasn’t any easier. He still felt terribly guilty, and ashamed. But he was doing the right thing. The blonde, who was- surprisingly, Quatre Winner, the CEO of the Winner Corporation- had been very patient with him. More so than the woman who had introduced herself as Gloria.

"Impossible! You'd be dead! I think he's a liar! You should kill him, Mister Winner."

Gloria still didn’t exactly seem to trust him.

"What!? But I came here to help!"

"Calm down. No one is going to kill any-"

"Bullshit! This is a trick! Tell us where he is!"

"I did tell you! I told you exactly where he's been held! I told you twice!"

"Why would you-"

"I answered that twice too!"

"You don't even know what I was going to say-"

"Enough!" Quatre shouted over the din, immediately wishing he hadn't. While it had silenced Alex and Gloria, he'd made a great risk in waking Heero.

About two hours ago, Quatre had slipped Heero a heavy sedative into a cup of tea. He was sleeping now, but it was best not to take any chances with the Perfect Soldier. Especially with the situation as it was currently.

Sighing deeply, the blond rubbed at throbbing temples. "All right, Alex, if you could explain from the beginning what you're doing here. Leave out anything you don't think is important."

"That...may be a little difficult. I really don't want to die- I have a four year old daughter at home."

"No one is going to kill you, Alex-"

"Except maybe me..." Gloria muttered mutinously.
"Miss Westham! Please! Just let him tell his story!" Quatre ordered, his voice filled with weary exasperation. The maid looked hurt, and under any other circumstances, Quatre would have felt badly- but he couldn't afford to waste any more time. "Also, I think you have a lot of explaining to do yourself. I'll expect you to do so later."

Gloria blushed, and sank back into her sofa-seat miserably.

The blond turned his attention back to the young man. "Alex? If you could continue?"

Alex nodded. He looked just as miserable as Gloria. "I started working for Coldmine about six years ago. I was fresh out of grad school with a degree in bio-genetics... I was approached by a man by the name of Montresor Coldmine. You see, one of my professors new him, and I suppose he had told him about me. Mr. Coldmine offered me a job. I took it without question- and up until now, I've worked very closely with him... I... I never suspected that we worked with anything other than test animals and voluntary patients..."

~~~~
Heero Yuy knew exactly what Quatre Winner had done when he could not snap awake when the young man stepped into the room.
The drug must have been in the tea Quatre had brought earlier. At the moment, he wasn't overly angry at the blond. He was too groggy to be properly angry- and on top of that, he knew that the other had only done it with the best intentions. Though, he supposed he would be furious once he'd had some coffee.
"Heero, we know where Duo is."
"What?" Never mind.
