Chapter 2: I thought he was dead!
:With the spirit detectives, in Koema’s office:
The office was not there. It just wasn’t. Instead of the familiar office with the huge computer screen, and stacks of paper everywhere, there was a long meeting desk with chairs surrounding it. The room had been elongated some how to accommodate the huge table and more importantly….the dozens of people surrounding it. From the other side of the room a door opened, and a blue light shined out from around the silhouette of another person who walked out and took a seat at the table. Few were talking, most were sitting silently, glaring at other people in the room or looking at them expectantly. They where demons mostly, of all shapes and sizes but all in a humanoid form of some sort. Evil radiated from some of them like a black cloud. Others, while in no way harmless, posed no threat to the spirit detectives.
Kurama’s eyes swept the room in a quick scan, knowing he he felt a familiar aura somewhere among these strangers. Yoko in the back of his mind stirred uneasily making Kurama think the fox knew who it was before him.
“Yoko? Who’s aura is that?” Kurama mentally asked his partner, while still scanning the room. After his second swipe, and still no answer from Yoko, and no success with finding where the aura was coming from, Kurama grew impatient with his counter partner.
Yoko felt his other half’s irritation with him, but he was too busy trying to figure out how the hell it could be his old friend. “Kurama, look to the other side of us.” Yoko said when he pinpointed where it was.
As Kurama turned to look as directed, he heard Hiei growl softly and move to grip his katana under his cloak. When his eyes landed on the shadowed figure that had just walked out of the door and slipped into the corner, his entire body jolted in recognition. His eyes widen, but before he could act Yuuske strolled forward towards the door and Kurama was forced to regain his composure.
Kuwabara leaned in towards Yuuske and not so discretely covered his mouth with his hand in pretence that no one would know what he was saying if he did. “Urameshi do you feel the amount of power coming from theses guys?”
Yuuske did not reply, vouching for sizing up the unknown people instead. Slowly he lead them towards the back door that was one again closed, never taking his eye off the people crowded in the room. As the boys reached the door they heard sounds, similar to a factory machine running, faintly humming from behind the closed door. Right as Yuuske reached for the doorknob, Kurama put his dainty hand on his shoulder and shot him a look that told him not to follow through. Yuuske, ever the hardheaded dare devil, brushed off Kurama’s warning hand and with a turn pulled the door open and a blue light burst forward and momentarily blinded the four men.
After a sparse moment that the guys were forced to blink away the temporary impairment, their returning sight focused in on a strange sight. A half a dozen or so souls stood lined across the room, in front of a machine that was the cause of the blue light. There was more noise here as one of the souls ranted about not coming first. Koema sat to the right of the machine controlling it with a keypad and a turn switch. One by one the souls stepped up and signed their name by Koema and stepped into the time teleporting device looking thing. After a minute the same man stepped out…with a body. Yuuske was the first to reacted to this bizarre site.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TODDLER!!!!” Yuuske about gave Koema a heart attack when he lost his cool. Koema jumped and swiveled around in his chair clutching his chest.
“Yuuske what in the world do you think you are storming in here and demanding things of me!” Koema retaliated just as angrily. His tiny little fists pounded on his keyboard as Yuuske strolled up there waving his hands around like a blasted maniac.
Hiei sighed at the idiots screaming match and decided instead to inspect the incoming people. His gaze wondered through the demons that rested against the wall. Now that he had focused his attention on them, they in turn turned to stare back at him. A man with long white hair and canine ears started immediately growling at him. Hiei’s eyes narrowed in distaste. “Hn. Stupid mutt.” he mumbled, knowing the guy with the ears would hear him. “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY SHORTY? I OUGHT TO KICK YOUR TINY ASS!” he screamed rashly, successfully drawing all attention to him, and unfortunately Hiei too. The spirit brandish his fist in Hiei’s face and he’s had just about all he can take. To bad you can not kill something that’s not alive.
He stood perfectly still as the toddler marched up between the two and planted himself firmly in between. “Now Inuyasha,” Koema began facing the soul, “this is part of the agreement. No unnecessary violence toward ANY team member or innocent bystander. Remember?” He placed his hands on his hip and shook a finger at the soul, who then proceeded to stuff his hands into the sleeves of his arms and stomp away, acting much the age of the toddler in front of him.
Yuuske’s outbreak long forgot Koema huffed and returned to his seat and motioned another soul forward and into the machine. Without looking back he called out to the spirit detectives. “Go back to the room. There will be a big meeting and you will be informed of everything with the others. Make friends, their your new teammates.”
:Kuwabara:
It was tense. It was scary. I have been waiting for a fight to breakout or someone to burst into flames. Them versus us, we have been sitting here way too long. My eyes shift. I fidget. Yuuske looks at me. I clear my throat. They look at me. Then back to my teammates. I breath in. Damn when is Koema going to get in here? He last person came out a half an hour ago! And these guys…they do NOT look friendly. Well they are all very calm like but, you can tell these are not any angels. Finally something happens. Portals appeared in all corners of the room and two in the middle and two along the walls. They all jumped up grabbing for swords and other weapons. We simply turned around. When our “missions” stepped through we really not all that surprised. Taking a look around with semi surprised eyes, they pulled up chairs beside us until all but four of the chairs were taken. One, I am sure, will be Koema’s, but who are the other three for? I do not have long to ponder this because mid-thought, Koema walks into the room finally.
Did up in his teenage form, the mini ruler strolled in, fixing his shirt. He set a thick file upon the table, where he had planed on sitting. After taking his seat his hand clamped in front of him, and he peered out to everyone sitting at the conference. Everyone stared expectantly back at him. He cleared his throat and checked his watch. “Well,” he began, shifting papers around nervously. “ I can begin by telling you why you are all here. The people that we are waiting for already know, so this is safe to start out with.” He paused and looked around again. “Gentlemen, and ladies,” he added as an afterthought, “I have pulled you here to fight to save the worlds. The odd happenings in the world, Makai specifically, is due to a prophecy created long before time began, fating the end of the world. It is also the foretelling of millions of warriors of all kinds, that have a chance to save us all. My father, and the other gods have decided to pile you all up, and starting building our army now. Those of you I raised from the underworld along with my team, have no choice, but the few of you we called upon do have a choice to fight or go.” Here Koema paused, looking around for any comments or questions. When no one spoke up at first he cleared his throat to continue when; “What about the wench?” a gruff voice called out, startling Koema who looked up to the same white haired canine Hiei almost got in a fight with. Koema’s brows furled in confusion. “I am not sure who your talking about Mr.….” Koema paused to ruffle through his papers. “Inuyasha.” The canine barked gruffly. When everyone’s eyes turned to him he quickly turned red and looked away. “Yes, Mr. Inuyasha. I am not quite sure who you are talking about.” Koema said, breaking the awkward silence. Inuyasha cleared his throat, and opened his mouth to reply, but nothing came out. He closed his mouth once again, and opened it only to choke on the words trying to worn their way out of his throat. “Koema-sama I believe what Inuyasha is referring too is a past traveling companion, on the Shikon quest named Kagome Higarashi.” A young looking human asked. The spirit detectives could detect the holy power in his form, that marked him as no ordinary human. Once again Koema’s face was as puzzled as a child’s would be. Suddenly a light flicked on in his eyes and he started flickering through his papers once again. After a second he landed on one and scanned it quickly, a smile coming to his face. He then looked up and smiled. “I’m sorry but Kagome Higarashi never died, so she is not coming on behalf of you guys…” “Wait! She’s alive?! She has not come through the well yet??” Koema was once again interrupted by Inuyasha who flew out of his chair in his excitement. Once again Koema gave him a blank look and Inuyasha sat back down in his chair in embarrassment. “Yes she has gone done the well and you have already defeated Naraku at this point in time but she is not dead by any means.” Koema said, finally able to finish his sentence. The spirit detectives saw the look that passed through the most of table and suddenly felt left out of the circle. “Koema-sama I think your mistaken,” a young woman spoke up in a soft voice “Kagome died defeating Naraku.” she said, as a tremble went through her and the young priest beside her grabbed her hand reassuringly. This time Koema seemed almost mad. “I know what is on my files and that girl is most certainly NOT dead because…” Koema was cut off by the door knob turning and three chilling presents entered the room….
OK guys! So I know this one is shorter! But I was running out of ideas for this chapter!
