A/n: another time, another chapter finished. Hope it will be enjoyed.

Ps: I need to explain something about how pregnant cycle goes otherwise this story won't make sense. Instead of nine months the time is brought back to five. The first month is actually two months, the second moths is three and four. The third month is stages five and six, then the fourth month are stages seven and eight and the fifth month is month nine and also the month the baby can be born any moment.

A DEVILS GAME

CHAPTER 4

Sitting on her favorite rock Kagome looked into the distance. The surroundings and sky were swiftly going from light bleu and white to dark bleu and purple to black. Twilight was rolling in and along with it a cool pleasant breeze.

Closing her eyes she lifted her head up against the wind letting it caress her features and play with her long black hair. The locks danced on the silent music of the wind and Kagome thought she could almost hear it her self, almost.

Kagome opened her eyes which now held a sad expression, just like she could almost see her hometown. Every night she came here and every time she tried to see her town. She knew that it was there she just couldn't see it not even the twinkling of tiny lights that burned by the millions.

Swallowing back some tears Kagome sighed for two strait weeks she was with the wolfs now and thanks to Tenshi, Inuzuma and Shinsetsu she found some peace and belonging between the demon clan. Tenshi had even fixed her the job of caring for the pack children instead of cooking, in Kagome's opinion a much better pastime.

After two days of clumsily getting her cooking chores done Tenshi had officially given her up and gone to have a talk with Yosei. Kagome had never felt tenser in her life and when Tenshi returned with a big smile on her face Kagome started to wonder what kind of message the she wolf would give her, but never had she thought it would be this.

The older female had told her that she would be something like a kindergarten teacher. Her job was to keep the little ones busy and out of trouble. Of course it wasn't as easy as it sounded; wolf children have great stamina and needed lots of exercise just to get rid of all that energy.

But Kagome had enjoyed it from the first moment she had begun her new task. Teaching them all kinds of games from her own childhood and telling them of wonders of her world. Which were thought to be fairytales according to most of them for really a flushing toilet something like that truly couldn't exist. Kagome gave up correcting them.

She was a little less pleased about some more recent information Tenshi provided her with. Abut a week ago the older woman had come into Kagome bedroom ( she just called it that by now) and asked her what she new about being pregnant. Kagome had laughed and told her that she had learned everything about it in school she had kept laughing until Tenshi asked if she knew she would only be five months pregnant. That had done the job of shutting her up nicely. Giving her a small victory smile of her own Tenshi had started to explain and Kagome had grown gloomier with each passing second.

When Tenshi had left Kagome had curled up pulling all the furs over her and made a little nest for herself. In the dark she had pondered and cried. After a while the crying had stopped and Kagome had come into terms with her self. So what if it mend she could get an abortion her mother would understand, her friends would understand. They would help her she was sure they would.

Still already her precious plan had received a dent in it and she didn't need anymore everything was fragile as it was and she needed to be ever so careful. Too much setbacks and she would never see her family and friends again.

After the past days she had started to collect things, pieces of dried meat to her great luck she found a plastic bottle with a screw it on lit. Bit by bit she gathered traveling goodies for when she could escape. And one extra credit was that now that she took care of the little ones she could travel all over the compound, thus being able to check everything out. She still needed to be careful not to stray to far the Ookami were greatly protective of there children.

And then there was the fact that she wasn't the only one taking care of the children. One by one other female wolfs would take up a day helping Kagome out and they all seemed stubbornly trying to teach her there way of live.

For example yesterday Izoi had helped out, all Kagome knew about her was that she was one of the younger generation and quite popular. Izoi had spend the day not so much looking after children but telling Kagome all the rules and guidelines on how to behave and handle around your mate. By the end of the day Kagome felt like screaming and running her head in a brick wall just to stop hearing Izoi good natured advice. She really didn't want to know what places on an Ookami youkai's body were sexually sensitive.

Calling her thoughts back from yesterday Kagome looked out into the distance again squinting her eyes she tried yet again to catch a glimpse of her hometown and again she found nothing but ongoing green trees and black asphalt roads, but no roof tops or little white dots of light.

Finally giving up for the night Kagome let her mind wonder once again, this time two a morning almost two weeks ago when she had woken up with a male Ookami close up in her face.

((flashback))

Slowly Kagome woke up reluctant to open her eyes and face another day and one including cooking too. While her mind started to wonder how she came to be this warm surely sleeping under two small fur blankets didn't do the trick, Kagome had yet to awaken fully enough to consider the problem.

After a few minutes Kagome brows knitted and she had the distinct feeling of being watched. Opening one eye grudgely Kagome found hat her grey/bleu eyes was mere millimeters away from another eye the color of forget-me-not's.

With a high pitch screamed she pushed her body up and away from the stranger pulling the blankets with her like they could serve as some kind of protection shield. Now with some distance between them Kagome could see who the eyes belong to and she calmed somewhat but not enough to point and accusing finger at the intruder who was rubbing his ears and looking to be in pain. He recovered quick do and seemed to understand what she wanted.

"Please calm down Kouga told me to look after you but when I came in you were still asleep and since he didn't say anything about waking you I let you sleep, I just couldn't help myself." The teenager looked sullen and a little bit scared then he suddenly got a determined look in his lovely eyes and straightened his shoulders like preparing to face battle. Kagome was still too shocked to speak.

"Big brother has told me I'm to look after you and you being human and all this will be a hard task. You are always so fragile." The last was said with a snort. He crossed his arms before his chest and lazily started to look her over. "You look good do for one of your kind, Kouga's lucky and you're carrying already so maybe you're not that bad." He said as an after thought.

That got some steam in Kagome's courage back. "You're telling me I'm nothing but a weak species and a burden to boot?" every male in the universe could have heard the hidden anger underneath her sweet covert tune, this boy however seemed to be completely ignorant.

"well you're not a burden persee but I could have thought of better things to do, I was actually going to be in the going away party with Kouga but then he came up with all this crap about how you needed someone to protect you and since there was to be negotiating with the Taka youkai Kouga had to go."

`In other words thanks to you I'm stuck baby sitting instead of getting to fight bloody battles with a big possibility of dieing far away from my home' Kagome sarcastically translated in her mind but she didn't let it be show on her face.

"Well isn't that bothersome but you know what I stay away from you ad you stay away from me and we'll get along perfectly. What do you say to that?" Kagome started to pray she really couldn't use a teenager following her hand and foot, that way she never would be able to escape.

Trying to keep her cool and her temper in check normally she would have at least given him a yelling of how he treated her but she needed his co-operation and scolding wouldn't be the way to get it. While she waited Kouga's younger brother seemed to be thoughtful and Kagome had the time to take in his looks.

In some ways he reminded her of the lean black haired prince but his eyes where much paller and didn't have the merit and life in it Kouga had, his hair was fashioned up the same way's as Kouga but his was a dark brown and not as long. And he was puny but that was most likely because he wasn't fully grown yet, still he never would be quite as hansom as Kouga Kagome mused.

Shaking her head to get rid of that ugly stray thought Kagome watched the bleu eyes trying to read his thoughts, she didn't get any wiser do. Finally the younger boy stood up and flashed her a dashing smile one that for just a second made him just as attractive as Kouga just in a other way, when he came of age girl would go crazy over him.

"well I thought about it and it's fine by me as long as you tell me what you plan to do all day and at the end of the day I want a full report of what happened its that or no deal." He stuck out his hand waiting for her to grab and shake it to confirm the deal.

Smirking in her self Kagome took his hand it was better than she had expected so you would hear her complaining. "Well sister I'll see you tonight and don't cause to much trouble or I'll have to correct you." He said impishly before running of raising a fair share of dust and almost knocking Tenshi over who just arrived at the entrance.

The older woman raised a mock fist at him and called something out in a language Kagome could understand, it sounded like yapping and a few barks. Turning back to Kagome Tenshi threw her some fresh cloths and turned around waiting for Kagome to dress her self.

"I see you have met Kouga's younger brother Kibin, don't let his attitude fool you deep down he's the most sweetest and loyal wolf you'll ever find- Tenshi glanced backwards only to find Kagome already fully dressed smiling the older wolf turned around and gestured with her arm to go- after Kouga of course." Tenshi almost let out a giggle at the face Kagome pulled.

"Come here you bath is waiting and so are at least half the woman of our pack, they want to met you and where better than in a warm relaxing bath. Really I swear that place is becoming more like a news market everyday if you want to know what's going on just walk in when the woman bath." Tenshi said pulling a smile from Kagome. Pleased she stared to walk a bit harder she was looking forward to a bath her self and she had the feeling Kagome loved this part of the day to.

((end flashback))

A particular cold sweep of wind made Kagome aware that she had been her to long already and she sighed rose from her rock and went to follow the bendy narrow road back down. From a distance she could hear Kibin's voice calling out to her and as he hastened her pace, she almost forgot that Kouga was supposed to be coming back tonight. Another setback for her escape plan.

Walking carefully down she saw that Kibin was awaiting her at the feet of the path waving his hand to tell her to hurry up. Scowling Kagome hurried the young wolf was probably scared to get busted by his older brother.

They walked back together at a much slower pace and Kagome could actually enjoy the short walk back to the entrance of the caves. Kibin however seemed to be fretting about something she could tell by the way he kept clicking his nails against each other. The sound unnerved her and made chills go up and down her spine she waited for him to sort it out on his own do.

"Si... Kagome I have wanted to ask, what do you think of Kouga." Kibin voiced the questioned soft and Kagome almost didn't catch it. Carefully she threw a glance in Kibin direction instantly regretting it. She could tell by his face that he was worried not so much about confronting her with her bad start but about what she would say over his older brother. A person Kagome had found out he idolizes.

Looking away covering her expression Kagome had to swallow and take deep breaths a couple of times before she was even ready to think about what she was going to say to him. She could tell him the truth she didn't want to be the one to take away his illusions, so maybe she could weave a half truth with a couple of lies, that wouldn't heard, would it?

For a final time Kagome took a deep relaxing breath her eyes fixed on the cabin that wasn't that far anymore. "Don't take this wrong Kibin but after how I got here and became Kouga's mate- Kagome almost choked forcing her self to say this nicely- I just... well I'm not used to your ways and rules. It is hard for me and I'm not sure I'll ever adapt to it. But on the bright side I have found that there are a lot of good things about your way of life to maybe, maybe I'll fit in and find my place her yet at your brothers side."

She was surprised when he threw her one of his smashing smile s while running the last meters to the cabin. "I'll bet you'll make the best chief yet sister, you aint going no where. You like us to much already." With that he reached the door and threw it open disappearing inside missing the hurt look that crossed Kagome's face at his obvious pleasure at her answer.

Closing her eyes and forcing the tears and guilty feeling back she made way to the cabin opening the door and stepping inside letting the warmth of the burning fires wash over her. It might still be summer but even then nights were cold high up.

:::: the next morning in the pool Kagome listen to the murmuring of the female wolf telling each other the latest. For some reason Kouga hadn't come back last night but instead arrived early this morning. Tenshi had told her all about it when she came to pick her up for there daily ritual.

According to Guuzen Tenshi's mate Kouga had arrived early and had been in conference with his mother and her mate since then, he didn't even stopped to wash and change before going to her. Which was an indication that something serious was going on.

Here in the pool most females were also talking about it, some of them now treated with respect because there mates had been on the party with Kouga and these females of course knew best.

Feeling a small nudge against her shoulder Kagome turned around to find that Inuzuma and Shinsetsu had joined Tenshi and her. Sitting in the warm water in a circle she accepted the plate of food Inuzuma held out to her.

The blond wolf made a gesture with her head at the other females and rolled her eyes. "Don't listen to them they don't no squat about what is going on. Let me tell you that most of what you hear here is nothing but bullshit. Those females thrive on occasions like this all of them wanting a bit of glory." She shook her head and dug into her breakfast Kagome followed suit.

Next to Inuzuma Shinsetsu however looked bothered. Her eyes looking thoughtful and her mouth pulled in a thin line. "I don't now about that Inuzuma I for one have found that much of what passes here turns out true or half true in the end. And besides that it's always good to know what other are saying and thinking." Tenshi shook her head in agreement and Inuzuma's eyes started to glitter Kagome groaned in her sausage and eggs. Inuzuma had just found something to start arguing about, may the heavens safe them all.

Tenshi saw it too and decided to beat Inuzuma to the punch with a change of subject and she knew just what to use. "So Kagome tell me is your pregnancy bothering you yet?" the poor girl choked on her egg and had to be helped by Shinsetsu to settle down again and not die in the process.

Struggling to breathe Kagome threw Tenshi a dirty look. "I'm ... doing ... just... fine but not... thanks to you." Tenshi shot her a mock smile before taking pity on her and bending over to give her a comforting hug. The strategy worked Inuzuma was distracted.

"Yes Kagome you really need to be careful it is not an every day occurrence for a human to have a demon child. I'm going to pay extra attention to you and we are all going to take you to Suki right after bath. She can check you out and tell us if everything is going fine."

For some reason she said it in a way like Kagome had just won the multy million jackpot, unfortunately Kagome could only feel a bit scared she never really thought about the differences before. Not to mention if she were to give birth on her own world how was she going to explain to the doctors why her child looked so strange. She didn't suspect they dealt with babies that had tails on a regular basis. Damn another crack in her carefully set plan somebody was definitly playing a bad turn on her.
