A/N: Now onto Chapter Seven. I am in such a writing mood right now. This one probably won't be as long as my other chapters but who knows. Enjoy! ^_^

Chapter Seven

The Sacred Miko Appears

Inuyasha had let Kagome get just enough ahead of him so he could still smell her. He didn't want her to get attacked by a youkai. In her state she probably would end up getting hurt. And he, Inuyasha, had hurt her enough for one day. He still couldn't believe what had happened. He had called out Kikyo's name when he was with Kagome. He still couldn't figure out why he had done that.

I don't think of Kagome as Kikyo. Kagome is Kagome. Though a lot of other people call her only a copy or her reincarnation, I don't think of her that way. To me Kagome is so much more. I can't go a day without smelling her scent, without hearing her voice, without feeling her touch. Inuyasha stopped and placed his hand over his heart. It was beating so fast. Why was it doing that? It felt like his heart was about to burst.

Was this how Kagome felt when I muttered Kikyo's name? Is her heart aching like this? I bet anything that her heart is aching ten times worse then this. She always said that she would stay with me. And it seems that every chance I get I break her heart. I let her get close to me and then I get scared and push her away. How come she hasn't left me by now? Why does she still stay with me?

Inuyasha closed his eyes and tried to calm himself down. Does she really care for me that much that she is willing to be hurt so many times by me? No matter how hard I try to push her away she doesn't leave. She tells me that she isn't going anywhere and then tells me that she wants to be with me. Why can't I say that to her? I need Kagome. I would be lost without her.

Inuyasha opened his eyes, "I would be lost without her…" Inuyasha's heart was pounding against his ribs even harder now. I kept telling myself that I owed Kikyo my life but I don't. We died together on that day. We were both no longer a part of this world. Kagome was the one who woke me up after fifty years of being sealed to that tree. And the first minute I saw her I knew that she was different. Even though she looked so much like Kikyo, she was still different and as I got to know her I realized that she was better than Kikyo.

Inuyasha started to slowly make his way once again back to the village as he thought. Kagome likes me the way I am. She likes me as a hanyou, nothing more and nothing less. She accepted me for who I was. She cares for me exactly as I am. Kikyo wanted me to be a human. She never accepted me as a hanyou. She wanted me to be a human and to live our lives together as humans. She was going to use the Shikon no Tama to change me into a human and to free her from her duties as a miko.

Inuyasha looked up at the sky and sighed. Everything was finally coming to together. He was starting to realize how much Kagome meant to him. He wanted Kagome, not Kikyo. They were meant for each other. Kagome crossed time and came to him. She freed him; she stayed by his side, she saw who he really was and didn't let him think less of himself for being a hanyou.

I truly need you Kagome. You make me whole. You helped me to see that I have a place in this world and that place is at you side. I… I… Inuyasha stopped walking and clasped his chest. He finally realized it. It only took him months to figure it out but he finally did. Kagome was made for him. They were destined for each other. She was brought back in time to be with him.

"I love Kagome," Inuyasha spoke aloud. It seemed as if the weight of the world was lifted off of his shoulders. His heart slowly calmed and Inuyasha felt a sort of peace of mind. Inuyasha started walking back to the village. He would have to tell Kagome that he was so sorry for being a baka and ask for her forgiveness. He needed her and now that he knew that, he was never going to let her go. He wanted Kagome as his life mate. He never wanted to leave her side.

Inuyasha was so caught up in his own thoughts that he didn't even realized that he couldn't smell Kagome anymore. Her scent was completely gone. Panic sunk in as he started running full out to the village, following his nose. He could smell traces of her but they were all old traces. Suddenly Inuyasha ran into something very solid and fell to the ground.

"Are you alright?" asked Inuyasha as he slowly got to his feet. Then he realized that he had run head long into Miroku, who was still laying spread eagle on the ground.

"Miroku!" Inuyasha ran to Miroku and helped him up. "Are you alright? I didn't see you."

Miroku shook his head and slowly got his eyes to focus. "You didn't see me, Inuyasha? I was calling out your name and everything."

"What? I didn't even hear you?" Inuyasha looked at his fallen friend. He was so concerned about finding Kagome's scent that he wasn't paying attention to anything else.

"I was looking for you. Kaeda-sama would like you to come to the village. She needs to talk with us before we leave."

"I need to find Kagome first."

"Kaeda-sama was just with her. She is in the village."

Inuyasha smelt Miroku. He couldn't smell Kagome's scent on him. So that meant that she wasn't near him.

"Is she in the hut?" Inuyasha already knew the answer to the question.

"No, but Kaeda-sama said not to worry, and that Kagome-sama would be joining us very shortly. Come on Inuyasha. We have to get going. If we stand here all day we will loose the light and will have to wait until tomorrow to leave." Miroku started to walk back to the village. Inuyasha let out a "Keh!" and followed after Miroku.

Soon Inuyasha and Miroku were entering Kaeda's hut. Inuyasha could smell Kagome's fresh scent on Kaeda and finally relaxed a little as he sat down in the corner of the hut. He closed his eyes and stayed silent. Though he could feel Sango and Shippo looking at him he stayed there and didn't move.

"Well now that Inuyasha is here please continue, Kaeda-sama," said Miroku as he sat down opposite to Kaeda.

"As I was saying, Miroku Houshi-sama, Kagome is in the temple as we speak."

"Why is she there?" asked Sango, "I thought Kagome-chan already had all the scrolls that she needed to train from."

"Ai, child, she does, but what she does not have is within the temple. Hitomi-sama created a hidden room within the temple that was meant for a Sacred Miko to enter and only the Sacred Miko. Kikyo-oneesama-" Inuyasha's ear flinched at the name but no one noticed, "-tried to enter the room numerous times but was unable to. That is because Kikyo-oneesama was not the Sacred Miko."

"And you believe that Kagome-sama is the Sacred Miko. I never would have guessed that." Miroku said out of deep thought.

"Houshi-sama, you have heard of the Sacred Miko before?" asked Sango.

"Who hasn't?" barked Inuyasha. Everyone jumped at the sound of Inuyasha joining in the conversation.

"You know!" Shippo stated in awe.

"Keh! Of course I know! I wasn't born yesterday, you know. All youkai have heard of the Sacred Miko. The Sacred Miko is the Powerful Miko. She has powers that only other mikos and youkai could dream of. It is said that the Sacred Miko wears armour that amplifies her physical powers, and that her skills are unmatched by any other. But Kagome couldn't be this miko. I know that Kagome is a powerful miko but there is no way that she could be the Sacred Miko." Inuyasha relapsed into silence. He closed his eyes and leaned against the wall of the hut.

Everyone just sat in silence. Inuyasha had actually known for a fact that not everyone already knew.

"Why can't Kagome be the Sacred Miko?" asked Shippo as he looked at everyone.

"Well, Shippo, the reason that Kagome-sama can't be the Sacred Miko is because she is not powerful enough or even a trained miko. Kagome-sama has always denied the fact that she is a miko. The Sacred Miko has such an awesome power that youkai are attached to her and wish to even mate with her because of her power."

"Mate with her? But why?" Shippo was now kneeling in front of Miroku as if he was the most interesting person in the world.

"Well Shippo, when youkai mate the male takes in some of the female's power or youki. Every time they mate the male gets stronger. That is how bonding and marking is done. However, when it comes to a miko and youkai mating it is different. The miko's power is to purify so it will try to dominate the youki of the male. While doing this, the male will absorb the miko's power and become twice as strong after only mating once. Plus the youkai that mated with the miko will get some of the miko's abilities.

`This is why youkai are often very attracted to miko's, because they seek the power that they would get from the miko if they mated. However the miko usually ends up killing the youkai to defend herself, and then the cycle begins again. Most youkai now just try to get rid of the miko because the miko will end up killing them anyways."

"Oh, so if Kagome is the Sacred Miko, then that means that more youkai are going to be after her to mate with her to gain her power." Inuyasha opened his eyes and hit Shippo in the head. "Itai!!"

"Shut up, Shippo!! Don't talk about Kagome like that!" Inuyasha was growling. He would die before he let anyone claim his Kagome. She was his and no other youkai was going to have her.

"Calm down, all of you," Kaeda said as she probed the fire. "What we need to do now is worry about what is ahead of us. The future is still unseen. Now Kagome could or could not be this Sacred Miko, and until she returns we will never know…"

Inuyasha suddenly felt a great power. It was so powerful that it was sending shivers through his body. Everyone looked at Inuyasha and then at Shippo. The fur on Shippo's tail was standing on end. "Inuyasha, do you feel that?"

"Hai… but what the hell is that?!" Inuyasha could feel the power growing.

"I feel it too!" Miroku stood up and held his staff out before himself. "It's coming from the temple!"

"Kagome!" Inuyasha jumped up and bound towards the temple. The earth shuttered and Inuyasha had to stop to regain his balance. When the earth stopped moving he jumped up the stairs leading to the temple. Just as he got there, the back end of the structure exploded and sent wood, stone, and paper everywhere. Inuyasha raised his arm and shielded his face from the falling debris.

"Inuyasha, are you okay?" Inuyasha turned and looked up to see Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kaeda riding on the back on a transformed Kirara.

"Yeah, I'm fine, but what the hell was that?"

Kirara landed and everyone jumped off. Just then a shock wave of fuchsia energy came flying at them. There was no time to get out of the way. Inuyasha turned and shielded his face from the oncoming wave of energy. When it hit him it was warm and calming. He had felt this kind of energy before.

"Kagome…"

"You sensed it too, Inuyasha? This is Kagome-sama's energy." Miroku had walked over to Inuyasha.

"This energy is Kagome-chan's? But how can that be?" asked Sango as she too walked over to Inuyasha and Miroku.

"This is Kagome's raw and untamed energy. She has awakened her miko powers. And by the looks of things it is only getting started." Everyone looked at Kaeda and then at the temple in which she was glazing at. She was right. Wave upon wave of energy was coming from the temple and every time one hit them they felt calm and relaxed.

Inuyasha couldn't believe that this was Kagome's power. This was her pure power. In her small slender figure was all this power. The ground shook again and everyone tried to stay standing. Miroku caught Sango before she fell face first into the ground. Sango blushed and thanked him. Miroku just smirked at her.

"Kagome!" Shippo yelled and pointed.

Everyone looked to where Shippo was pointing and Inuyasha felt his face getting warm. Kagome had just emerged from the temple. She was floating up out of the back end of the temple and she was completely nude. Her whole body was glowing and seven tiny orbs of fuchsia light were spinning very quickly around her body.

"What are those orbs of light?" asked Sango.

"I do not know, child, but it is as if they are trying to merge with Kagome's power," stated Kaeda as they all watched what was happening.

Inuyasha wanted to help Kagome but he didn't know how. Suddenly the ground started to shake again, but this time it wasn't coming from Kagome. The shaking was being caused by something behind them. Inuyasha slowly took his gaze away from Kagome and turned around. The minute he turned around he started to growl. Miroku and Sango turned around and gasped.

Three oni youkai were standing at the top of the stairs of the temple. They were all staring hungrily at Kagome. Some of them were even drooling. Inuyasha was getting more and more pissed off. He drew out Tetsusaiga and it transformed. There was no way in hell he was going to let them have her. But his thoughts were interrupted when he heard Kagome scream. Inuyasha quickly turned around and looked at Kagome.

The orbs of light had connected with her body and now Kagome was engulfed in a huge fuchsia orb of light. He could just barely make out Kagome's outline within the orb. Her screaming was getting louder. Inuyasha screwed his face up against the sound of it. It sounded like she was being tortured. The wind started to get stronger and was howling. Inuyasha's ears were killing him.

"Miko…" one of the youkai muttered and took a step closer to the temple. Sango, Miroku and Kaeda all turned around to the sound. Sango gasped. They had all not noticed the three oni youkai standing there.

Sango quickly regained herself and threw off her kimono to reveal her armour underneath. Miroku stood ready to attack and Inuyasha edged forward holding Tetsusaiga out before him. "Kaeda-baba, get behind us!" yelled Inuyasha and Kaeda walked over and stood behind them.

"Inuyasha, they are here to get Kagome's power. You have to stop them. Kagome can not defend herself in the state that she is in."

"Don't state the obvious, baba! Stay here and protect Kagome!" Inuyasha glanced back at the orb of light before turning his attention back to the oni youkai. "What the hell do you want? You have never come to this village before."

The oni youkai started to walk forward. "We want the miko! Get out of our way!" The oni youkai in front swiped his huge clawed hand at Inuyasha. Inuyasha jumped out of the way and landed a few feet back.

"You won't have her! I will kill you for even thinking about taking my Kagome!"

Miroku and Sango both looked at each. Had they heard him correctly? They didn't have time to waste thinking about it. Sango grabbed Hiraikotsu and threw it at the oni youkai. It jumped back and when it landed the whole ground shook.

"Inuyasha, we have to push them back! They are too close to Kagome-chan. If we make but one mistake they will get to the temple."

"Hai! Then let's drive them back!" Inuyasha jumped at the oni youkai and swung Tetsusaiga. The oni youkai jumped back and lost their balance and tumbled down the stairs lending to the temple. The ground was shaking even more. "Sango, Miroku, get on Kirara! With the ground shaking like this you two will be off balanced and probably end up getting hurt!"

"Hai!" Sango and Miroku ran to Kirara and jumped onto her back and made there way down the stairs to the oni. Inuyasha looked up one last time at Kagome. She was still screaming but not as much now. Inuyasha was fighting with everything he had to not try and help her, but the oni youkai needed to be taken care of first. "Wait for me, Kagome!"

Inuyasha jumped down the stairs and charged at the oni youkai. They were trying to block Inuyasha's attacks and so far they were holding their own. Sango and Miroku were attacking one of them while Inuyasha was taking on the other two.

Inuyasha jumped out of the way of the claws of one the oni youkai and swung his sword around. "Kize no Kazu!!!" Inuyasha yelled and released the attack of Tetsusaiga. The oni youkai were thrown off by it. They didn't expect this from the hanyou. Inuyasha grinned at the surprised look on their faces.

"Do you think that a hanyou will be able to defeat us?" One of the oni youkai raised his hand and a kekkai surrounded them just before Kize no Kazu hit. All that happened was that Kize no Kazu went up and over the kekkai. The kekkai fell down and the oni youkai laughed.

"Keh! Do you think your kekkai will be able to stop this Tetsusaiga?" Inuyasha started running at the oni youkai and his Tetsusaiga changed to a deep blood red. Suddenly everything went quiet. It was as if the sound was sucked out of the area. Inuyasha's blood ran cold. He couldn't hear Kagome anymore.

Inuyasha stopped and looked towards the temple. The whole area was glowing fuchsia. "Kagome…" Inuyasha turned and started to run towards the temple but a huge clawed hand grabbed him.

Inuyasha was pulled into the air by the lead oni youkai. "You're going to die now, hanyou!" The oni youkai started to squeeze Inuyasha tightly. Inuyasha had dropped Tetsusaiga when he was grabbed. He was screaming out in pain and felt like his bones were about to brake. Inuyasha could feel his youkai blood trying to take over. The youkai were laughing and Inuyasha couldn't hear Sango and Miroku yelling to him.

Suddenly streaks of light flew across the area. The light was gone a quickly as they had appeared. Inuyasha's vision was starting to blur. If he didn't do something soon he was going to black out and then the youkai in him would take over. He couldn't risk that happening. Once it did take over, he would not only kill the oni youkai but he would also probably kill Miroku, Sango, Kaeda, Shippo and Kagome.

Inuyasha looked up at the oni youkai and saw that he was grinning. He was really starting to piss off Inuyasha. Suddenly an intense power was flying at the oni youkai. It pierced right through the wrist of the hand that was holding Inuyasha. The oni youkai yelled out in pain as the hand was completely severed from the arm of the oni youkai. Inuyasha pushed open the hand and jumped out of the way as the hand hit the ground with a dull thump.

"What the…" muttered Inuyasha and he picked up Tetsusaiga and it transformed.

"I will not forgive you for harming Inuyasha," a voice spoke from behind Inuyasha. Inuyasha knew that voice. He slowly started to turn around and when he saw who it was, his jaw dropped.

"Kagome…" Inuyasha stated in awe. Kagome was standing facing the oni youkai. She was holding a beautiful white bow before her. She was dressed in very lavish white and fuchsia armour. Under her armour she was wearing very short tight black shorts that showed all her curves. She was also wearing knee high black boots. Under the chest plate, as far as Inuyasha could tell, she was wearing a white leather long sleeved shirt.

The look on her face scared Inuyasha. Her eyes were blazing with hatred towards the oni youkai. Inuyasha had only once seen this look on her face and that was when Naraku tricked Sango into stealing the Tetsusaiga and she attacked Naraku. Kagome reached up and grabbed another arrow from the quiver on her back. She notched the arrow into the bow and starting drawing it back. The arrow changed from being made of wood into pure energy. Inuyasha could feel the power coming from it.

"Kagome-chan!" Sango and Miroku were circling above Kagome on Kirara.

"Oni youkai, you should never have attacked Inuyasha or my friends. I will never forgive you. The people of this village did nothing to cause you to come to this village."

The oni youkai laughed. "We came to get your power! This is your fault. If your friends didn't get in our way then we would have left without hurting anyone but you!"

Kagome glared at them, "You're lying."

The oni youkai stopped laughing and glared at Kagome. "How dare you! You little bitch! You are going to die and your power will become ours!"

The oni youkai with the missing hand jumped at Kagome. Kagome didn't move she just continued to stare at the oni youkai. Inuyasha started to run towards Kagome. He wasn't going to make it in time. "Kagome!"

Kagome pulled the arrow back and released it. It shot off like a bullet from a gun. It streaked through the air and the oni youkai was caught off guard. He wasn't expecting the arrow to be that powerful. He didn't even have time to put up a kekkai before the arrow shot clear through his heart. A huge hole was left in his chest as he stopped dead and fell to the ground. The other two oni youkai watched in disbelief.

They started to step back as Kagome started to walk towards them. She lowered her bow as she walked towards them. When Kagome reached the dead oni youkai laying spread eagle on the ground she stopped and raised her right hand over it. She closed eyes and the oni youkai started to glow. It burst into flames and vanished completely.

"What the hell are you! You are not a normal miko!" yelled the oni youkai. Inuyasha just stood rooted to the spot. Kagome was giving off so much power. He couldn't believe it. He was fighting everything he had not to grab her. His youkai blood wanted her. It wanted to claim her. She slowly walked pass Inuyasha. She didn't even look at him. She stopped a few feet ahead of Inuyasha.

"Are you alright, Inuyasha?" asked Kagome.

Inuyasha relaxed. Her voice was so soft and concerned for him. It was his Kagome. Sure she was extremely powerful, but it was still his Kagome.

"Hai." Inuyasha could feel Kagome's smile in her response. "I'm glad I made it in time." Now her voice was full of anger again as she addressed the oni youkai in front of her.

"I am not a normal miko. As for what I am, well, you will not live long enough for it to matter." Kagome raised her bow and grabbed another arrow. The oni youkai turned and ran. Kagome released one arrow and quicker than any human could have, she grabbed another arrow and shot it off. Both arrows connected with their targets and shot clear through them. Both the oni youkai disintegrated into nothing.

Kagome turned around and faced Inuyasha. Sango, Miroku and Kirara landed behind Inuyasha and run up to him. Sango opened and closed her mouth a few times. She couldn't think of what to say. She stood in awe at Kagome. Kagome brought her left hand holding the bow into her chest and the jewel on her chest plate glowed and the bow and quiver vanished. Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and walked towards him.

Inuyasha was standing in total awe at Kagome. She was radiating so much power, and there she was smiling and walking towards him. Inuyasha sheathed Tetsusaiga and waited for her to reach him.

"Inuyasha," Kagome said as she reached up and cupped his cheek in her hand. Inuyasha melted at her touch. She was so warm and her power was calming down his youkai blood. Inuyasha reached up and placed his hand over hers.

"Kagome," Inuyasha grabbed her and pulled her close. Kagome let out a little yelp of surprise as Inuyasha hold her close to him. Kagome reached around him and hugged him back. Inuyasha didn't care that everyone was watching him.

"Are you okay, Kagome?" whispered Inuyasha into her ear. Kagome nodded and Inuyasha smiled. His Kagome was okay. She was in his arms. Kagome slowly pulled away from Inuyasha and looked at him.

"Kagome, gomen. Gomen nas…" he murmured. Kagome reached up and placed her hand over Inuyasha's mouth.

"Don't apologize, Inuyasha. I understand." She slowly removed her hand and Inuyasha bent down and kissed her. Her lips were so soft and warm. Inuyasha licked her lips and she opened her mouth. Inuyasha darted his tongue into her mouth. Her taste was intoxicating. Kagome moaned as Inuyasha's tongue rubbed her own. He pulled away from the kiss and they were both panting.

Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and opened her mouth to say something but suddenly her eyes started to close and the jewel on her armour started to glow. Kagome's armour vanished and she fell unconscious into Inuyasha's arms.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha screamed out her name and caught her. Kagome was very pale and she was just wearing her shorts and white shirt.

"Inuyasha, we need to take Kagome to my hut," Inuyasha turned his head and saw Kaeda standing beside Sango with Shippo on her shoulder. Inuyasha ignored the stares that he was getting from Sango and Miroku and picked up Kagome, bridal style, and started to follow Kaeda to her hut.

Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kaeda all sat around Kagome as she slept on her futon on the floor of the hut. Inuyasha was barely listening to the conversation that Kaeda and the others were having. Night had fallen and still Kagome hadn't woken up yet. Inuyasha hadn't even eaten the dinner that Sango had made for them.

"Kaeda-sama, I don't understand way Kagome-sama's armour vanished like that. Or why is she wearing such a strange outfit underneath. I mean, when she went to the temple she was wearing her school uniform, and now she is wearing that outfit," Miroku took another sip of tea.

"Miroku Houshi-sama, Kagome is wearing a very special outfit now. The clothes that she wears now will never rip or tare unless it is a very power youkai that attacks. These clothes also react to Kagome. Once she has trained up she will be able to transform those clothes into her old clothes. As for the armour vanishing, it was because Kagome was exhausted. The armour will only stay on her when it is keeping her miko powers in check. Since she fainted the armour was no longer needed and it changed into that necklace that she now wears."

Shippo yawned and curled into Sango's lap. "I think that it is time we all went to sleep. Kagome will not be waking up anytime soon. If she is awake in the morning we can decide if we are leaving then or not.”

Everyone agreed and started to get ready for bed. Inuyasha didn't even notice this as he was watching over Kagome. She had a peaceful look on her face. She was sleeping so soundly. Suddenly Inuyasha smelt Shippo walking towards them.

"Shippo? What are you doing?" asked Inuyasha as Shippo curled up beside Kagome and starting to go to sleep.

"I always sleep with Kagome. I can't sleep unless I can smell or touch her. Don't worry Inuyasha; I'm not going to hurt her. I will just sleep beside her." With that, Shippo curled up and fell instantly asleep. Inuyasha looked around and, by the sound of their breathing, he could tell that everyone else was fast asleep as well.

Inuyasha reached forward and brushed her hair aside. "I will not let anything happen to you, Kagome. I love you." Inuyasha leaded forward and kissed her forehead gently before he lay down beside her watching her sleep. Inuyasha didn't even notice that he was quickly falling asleep. He closed his eyes and let sleep wash over him.

A dark-clad figure stood in the forest just outside the village. It was too dark to see it and even if someone were standing right beside it, they wouldn't even notice that it was there.

"So the Sacred Miko has appeared at last. Things are going to get interesting from now on. My master will be most pleased by this turn of events. His mate has finally appeared."

The figured raised its hand and vanished into the shadows of the night.

A/N: Cliffie!!!! This chapter was a lot longer then I thought it would be. I hope you all enjoyed. There was a tiny itsy bitsy lemon in there. Now that Inuyasha and Kagome are back together and Inuyasha realizes that he does in fact love her, the lemons will be rolling.
