A/N: Sorry about not writing sooner. I have been having major writer's block on this story and I can't seem to shake it. This chapter has been taking me forever to write. So with that here is chapter eight! Please don't forget to review!

Chapter Eight

The Curse and the Departure

Kagome was standing in the middle of a deserted village. The huts and ground were torn apart. It was as if a huge battle happened right in the middle of the village. Kagome shivered and wrapped her arms around herself. She was wearing her armor and it was giving off a slight glow. Kagome looked around trying to see if there was anyone around or any signs of life.

Kagome started to walk around calling out to the wind. Kagome could smell death everywhere. When Kagome reached the end of the village she found a hut that wasn't completely destroyed. The wind was so cold that she decided to enter the hut. The inside of the hut looked as if a mini tornado had hit. The floor of the hut was torn apart and Kagome slipped and slid over the uneven floor as she made her way to the back of the hut and away from the door and the cold.

Kagome sighed as she knelt down. "Where am I? Inuyasha? Sango-chan? Miroku-sama? Shippo-chan?" Kagome looked around the hut trying to figure out if she had been there before. Kagome sighed as she changed how she was sitting and pulled her knees into her chest and rested her chin upon her knees. This doesn't make any sense. I was in Kaeda-obaja's village and now I am in a village that was torn apart by something and no one is here. I'm alone… all alone…

Kagome suddenly felt strong arms wrap around her and pull her towards its chest. She gasped as she felt hot breath on the back of neck. "You are never alone." Kagome didn't recognize the voice. She slowly turned her head and looked it a very handsome young mans face.

Kagome was looking into very intense violet eyes. The pupils were slits like that of a cat or a snake. His skin was very pale and he had shoulder length deep purple hair that almost looked black. He was wearing armor that remained her of her own. His voice was soft and sensual and calmed Kagome down even though she was freaked out by this man's boldness. Kagome tried to pull away but he held her close to him.

"Why are you trying to escape? You belong to me my beauty," stated the man.

"What?! I don't belong to anyone least of all you." Kagome tried again to get away but the man just held her more tightly to him.

"You DO belong to me and you aren't going anywhere. You are my mate and as such you are mine to do with as I please." Kagome was getting more then a little upset. She didn't belong to this guy and he could not do whatever he wanted with her.

"Let me go or you will regret it!" Kagome stated as she stared at the man.

The man, surprisingly, laughed in Kagome's ear. It was a cold laugh and sent shivers down her spine. And these weren't good shivers either. The man reached up and placed his hand on her cheek and turned her head, not to gently, to him and crashed his lips upon hers. Kagome tried to pull away but he was holding her in place. Kagome could feel the corners of eyes starting to sting as tears formed. Inuyasha where are you? Kagome cried out in her mind.

The man pulled away from the kiss and stared daggers at her. He pushed her away and slapped her across the face. Kagome fell to her side from the force of the slap. Kagome sat up slightly and placed her hand to her cheek already feeling a bruise starting on her cheek.

"How dare you you little bitch! You will not think of that worthless hanyou while you are with me! You are mine and no one else's! Do you understand me?" yelled the man and Kagome noticed for the first time that the man had pointed ears and on his neck was a strange marking. He was a youkai.

Kagome got gingerly to her feet and glared back at the youkai. "How dare I?! How dare you! I am not yours! I don't belong to you. And I will think of Inuyasha as much as I want too! He is not worthless!"

The youkai was getting angry and Kagome could feel his youki. Kagome glanced to the door and back to the youkai. If she ran she might make it to the door and out of the hut. She had to think of a way out of this mess and fast. She had no clue who this youkai was or why he was claiming that she was his. All she knew was that she wanted to escape and fast.

Kagome took a few steps back as the youkai approached her. His youki was coming off him in waves. Kagome bit her lower lip and tried to think of someway of getting out of this.

"You will pay for your disobedience my mate. I will have to punish you now." He reached his hand up and cracked his clawed hand.

"I am not your mate!" Before Kagome even knew what she was doing she raised her hand into the air and the jewel on her armor lit up. An orb of fuchsia energy wrapped itself around Kagome and pulsated. The youkai had just reached the orb when it pulsated and shot the youkai back and through the wall of the hut. Kagome took this chance to run and headed for the door with speed she didn't even know she had.

Kagome ripped the bamboo curtain door down and took off running into the village. She could hear the youkai behind her slowly getting up and cursing her. Kagome couldn't believe what had just happened but was thankful for it. She placed her hand over the jewel on her chest plate and felt it pulsate slightly. My armor is controlling my miko powers. Well at least I now know that I have more power then just my purifying arrows.

The youkai jumped out of the hut and the hut crumbled to the ground from the force of his youki. Kagome turned around as she ran and watched as the hut was destroyed. Suddenly Kagome ran into something very solid and was thrown back. But before she hit the ground she felt to strong clawed hands wrap around her neck and pull her into the air. Her feet were dangling a few inches from the ground. Kagome couldn't breath. Her vision was starting to blur as she gasped for air.

"I told you miko that you're mine. You can't escape me! I am going to claim you and teach you a lesson for your disobedience!" The youkai pulled Kagome down to his face and smirked at her. "I will make you forget all about that worthless hanyou and have you screaming out my name with pleasure. I will pound my name repeated into you until you have completely forgot about that hanyou."

Kagome's eyes widened in shock and fear. He is going to rape me!? The youkai licked her lips and then kissed her softly. He pulled away and smiled. "Rape is such a harsh word my mate. You WILL enjoy it worthier you want to or not."

"NO!!!!!"

Kagome shoot up, shaking and panting. What the… Kagome looked around and noticed that she was sitting in Kaeda's hut. Inuyasha was asleep on one side of her and Shippo was curled up beside her on the other side. Miroku and Sango were sleeping on the other side of the hut. Kagome couldn't seem to get herself to stop shaking.

"It was a dream…" Kagome pulled her knees into her chest and hugged them closely to herself. She was still so scared. Who was that youkai? Why did he say I was his mate? Where was I? What the heck is going on?! Kagome's breathing was slowly returning to normal. She looked at Inuyasha and knew that this was one of the few times that he was fully asleep. She had seen this face before. Just once but she knew for sure that Inuyasha was actually asleep and not just sleeping with his ears open in case anything went wrong.

Kagome was grateful that Inuyasha hadn't woken up. If he had he would be questioning her on what happened and even she had no clue what had happened. Kagome licked her lips and realized that she was thirsty. Slowly she pushed the blanket off of herself and stood up. Kagome looked around and made sure that everyone was still asleep. She slowly walked over to the door and with one last look at everyone she left the hut.

When Kagome was a few feet away from the hut she stretched. It was a full body stretch and she suddenly felt something brush over the top of her breasts. Kagome looked down and saw the most beautiful necklace hanging around her neck. The jewel was large, clear and round as it sat gently on her cleavage. That was when she noticed what she was wearing. She was wearing a strange very low cut white tight shirt that stopped just above her naval and she was also wearing tight black short shorts and knee high black boots.

Kagome sighed and stated aloud, "Another thing that doesn't make sense." Kagome shrugged and made her way down to the stream that was just inside the forest outside of Kaeda's village. As Kagome walked she thought about the dream. She had never seen that youkai before but it was as if she somehow knew who he was. Kagome wasn't even going to try and kid herself. The youkai was very handsome but he was cold and full of himself. Kagome jumped over a log as she continued her own thoughts of the dream.

She was in a village, it was destroyed, no one was around, she could smell death, and then the youkai. Now when she awoke she was wearing strange clothing and had a beautiful necklace that she didn't have before. Not to mention that her memory was very blurry to the events that happened after she proclaimed that she was the sacred miko. All she knew was Inuyasha was in danger and she had felt something strong within her that wanted to protect him.

Kagome reached the stream and knelt down. She placed her hands in the cool water and then brought the liquid to her lips. She did this a few times and the water really refreshed her and helped her to think straight. She cupped the water in her hands and thrust it at her face. The cool water woke Kagome completely and it was refreshing. Kagome shook her head and felt something lightly hitting the side of her face. She reached up and felt the earring hanging from her left ear.

Of course! thought Kagome. Hitomi-sama! She would know what was going on. But how did she call on her. Kagome redid what she had done in the temple when the earring had first attached itself to her. She ran her fingers down the earring and when her fingers reached the jewel she felt it get warm at her touch. Kagome felt a little dizzy but it passed as she heard the voice of the person that she needed to talk to more then anyone.

"Kagome?"

"Hitomi-sama?"

"Yes my Sacred Miko it is I. What is it that you wished to speak to me about at such an early hour? I didn't expect to speak with you this soon."

"I needed some questions answered and I knew you would know the answers."

"Alright Kagome but we must be quick. You are still not strong enough to have a long conversation with me."

"I know so hear goes. I had the most vivid nightmare. It felt so real." Kagome went off and explained everything that she could remember about the dream. "And then he told me that I was going to enjoy it." Kagome was out of breath and was shaking again. Recalling the dream had made it so that she was reliving it. She felt his hand wrapped around her neck and remembered his words.

"I did not think that this would happen as fast as it did. You see Kagome mikos, no matter how powerful or not they are, have the ability to dream gaze. This means that they can enter into ones mind and see their dreams or give them a dream or vision. But it also means, that until they have trained, others who have this ability can see into their dreams and send them visions or dreams if they choose. Who ever that youkai was must have this ability and since you are not trained enough he knew that you would not be able to stop him."

"So are you saying that until I train this will kept happening?"

"That is why this is known as the curse of dreams for mikos Kagome. Most mikos never tell anyone about it because if they aren't trained it will keep happening. But by the sounds of you dream you were able to mentally attack him. He will be weak and you will be able to train up and hopefully by the time he tries again you will be able to block him from your mind."

"I never thought that being a miko would be so hard. I was a normal girl until I came to this era and now I'm a miko trying to unseal one of the most powerful youkai who walked this world."

Hitomi giggled slightly, "You were never normal Kagome. But yes coming to this "era" you have awakened who you were destined to be."

Kagome sighed and felt herself becoming weak again. She shook it off and quickly asked, "Hitomi-sama… what am I wearing?"

"Well the necklace is the armor that you wear. Since you are calm right now and weak from both the dream and talking with me your armor is not needed to keep your powers in check. Once you have your strength back you will need to wear the armor. That is until you train up and are able to control it on your own. As for your clothes these clothes are the clothes that you wear under your armor. Again once you have trained up a bit you will able to change then at will to whatever clothes you were wearing before the armor was put on the first time."

Kagome slumped forward and barely caught herself before she fell into the stream. "Arigato Hitomi-sama. Well will talk later."

"You are more then welcome Kagome. Rest well." Kagome felt her strength come back somewhat and pushed herself back into a sitting position.

"Well at least I got some answers."

Inuyasha slowly opened his eyes. He was expecting to see Kagome's sleeping form beside him but after a few blinks of his golden eyes he realized the lump of blankets was not Kagome. Inuyasha sat up and looked around the hut. Her scent was old and it was mixed with fear. How the hell could I not wake up to her fear? Was I really that tired that when Kagome was scared I didn't even notice.

Inuyasha jumped up and sniffed the air again. Her scent was leading outside. Inuyasha jumped across the hut and out the door. Inuyasha followed his nose and stopped a few feet away from the hut. Her scent pooled here for a few moments before she make her way into the forest. Fear gripped Inuyasha. Kagome should know better then walk off this early in the morning. Especially into the forest. All the youkai would be waking up soon and then they would be looking for something to eat.

Inuyasha ran into the forest and her scent was becoming more and more fresh. She was really close by. Inuyasha could hear a stream just ahead. Inuyasha jumped into the trees and made his way quickly to Kagome. He spotted Kagome's long raven black hair and was about to land beside her when he heard voices. It wasn't only Kagome's voice but it was another person's voice as well and Inuyasha thought that the voice sounded familiar. He stopped on a branch that gave him a close view of Kagome.

"I never thought that being a miko would be so hard. I was a normal girl until I came to this era and now I'm a miko trying to unseal one of the most powerful youkai who walked this world."

Hitomi giggled slightly, "You were never normal Kagome. But yes coming to this "era" you have awakened who you were destined to be."

It took everything within Inuyasha not to jump out of the tree and help Kagome. She was visibly weak and she was pale.

"Well at least I got some answers."

Inuyasha watched Kagome for a few moments. Her breathing was coming back and colour was returning to her face. Inuyasha watched as Kagome looked up into the coming sunrise. The lights of the sunrise danced across Kagome's pale skin and she shimmered with unforeseen beauty. Inuyasha couldn't seem to stop staring at her. She was more then beautiful.

Inuyasha watched as Kagome stood up and stretched. She shook her long raven black hair and started to make her way back to the village. She was coming closer and closer to where Inuyasha was hiding in the tree. Inuyasha ducked behind the trunk of the tree. Now he could see Kagome but she couldn't see him. She passed by the tree and suddenly stopped. Inuyasha watched as Kagome reached up and placed her hand on the jewel of her necklace and closed her eyes.

Inuyasha suddenly felt a wave of power come off of Kagome. It smelt just like her. The scent and feel of the power calmed and relaxed every ounce of his being. Inuyasha half closed his eyes as the power increased.

"Inuyasha are you going to hide up in that tree all morning or are you coming to have breakfast so that we can leave?"

Kagome's soft voice broke him out of his trance and a light blush crossed his cheeks. She was sending out her miko power to find me. But how did she know I was here? Inuyasha collected himself the best that he could and jumped out of the tree and landed in front of Kagome.

"Your one to talk. Why are you out here?! Youkai roam all over this forest and you decide to go for a walk right when they are waking up!" Inuyasha's attitude was back to normal at least but Kagome only smiled as she hooked her arm with Inuyasha's and started to walk back to the village. What the heck was on Kagome's cheek?

Inuyasha could feel his face getting warmer as he sped up a bit so that Kagome wasn't dragging him to the village. After a few minutes Inuyasha finally broke the silence, "Who were you talking to Kagome?"

Kagome stopped dead and looked at Inuyasha. Inuyasha could tell that a lot of emotions were running across her face and her scent was changing so fast and so many times that it was starting to make Inuyasha dizzy. Also under Kagome's eye her skin was off coloured. Inuyasha tried to get a better look but it seemed that Kagome was thinking really fast and was moving her head around too much for Inuyasha to get a good look.

"How long were you there?"

"I heard you talking to someone about coming to this era and being a miko is hard. Who were you talking to?!" Inuyasha was starting to get a little annoyed with Kagome now. She just needed to answer the question. Suddenly Inuyasha smelt it. Fear was coming off of Kagome, slowly, but it was still there. Why is she afraid? Is she afraid of me? Is she afraid of the person she was talking to?

"Kagome…"

"I was talking to Hitomi-sama Inuyasha. Her memories lives within the earring that is attached to my left ear. I was asking her about… the clothes I was wearing and the necklace… I get a little weak when I talk with her because she has to feed off my powers to talk to me. But once I train up a bit she will no longer weaken me and I will be able to talk with her for longer periods of time."

Inuyasha looked at Kagome. She was avoiding his eye. She's hiding something from me! "Kagome that is not the only reason you were talking with her was it?! You can tell me! I smelt your fear in the hut and now I smell it here as well!" Inuyasha grabbed Kagome by the shoulders and forced her to face him.

Kagome still wouldn't look Inuyasha in the face. Inuyasha was getting pissed off. "Kagome will you look at me!"

"I can't!"

Inuyasha was taken back by her words. Kagome had always been able to look him in the face. What was so bad that she couldn't look him in the face now? "Kagome look at me!"

Kagome tried to pull away and refused to look into Inuyasha's eyes. "Inuyasha let me go! It is none of your business anyways!"

"You are my business Kagome! Now look at me!" Inuyasha released one of her shoulders and cupped her chin and forced her to look him in the eye. Kagome's eyes were full of fear and tears. Inuyasha was confused and all he wanted to do now was hold Kagome tightly and never let her feel this way again. In a softer voice Inuyasha asked, "Kagome tell me what is wrong."

Tears started to run down her face as she looked into Inuyasha's eyes. She couldn't hold it back anymore. Everything was coming crashing down around her. She couldn't seem to take it anymore. Everything was just so messed up now. "Inuyasha you can't help me this time." Kagome placed her hands on his chest and slowly pulled away. Inuyasha was so thrown off by what Kagome said that he let her go.

Kagome looked down at the ground and wrapped her arms around herself. "Inuyasha I'm sorry but I can't tell you. Please understand. There are some things that I have to do on my own and this is one of them. You can't protect me forever…" Tears ran down her cheeks and fell to the ground below.

This was more then Inuyasha could take. How dare she say that I can't protect her forever. Kagome is mine! I will protect her! I don't want her to feel this way anymore! Inuyasha growled impatiently and grabbed Kagome and pulled her into himself. He wrapped his arms tightly around Kagome and rested his head on top of hers, breathing in her scent.

"Kagome listen to me," Inuyasha could feel Kagome about to move or speak so he held her even more tightly, "and don't interrupt." Inuyasha took a steadying breath and felt his face getting warm. There's no turning back now. I don't want to loss Kagome so I need to say it and she needs to understand.

"Kagome don't ever say that I can't protect you. I will always protect you no matter what and no matter from whom. I need you Kagome. You… you make me feel like I belong… like I have a place in this world. I have never felt that way before."

Kagome couldn't hold back anymore. She didn't want to stop Inuyasha while he was telling her everything that she wanted to hear more then anything but another thought entered her mind after what Inuyasha had just said. "What about the way you felt for Kikyo? You loved her and now you say that you never felt this way before." Kagome pulled a little away from Inuyasha so that she was looking him in the face.

Inuyasha looked into Kagome's deep chocolate brown eyes. "Kagome… I thought that I loved Kikyo. But she never loved me. She wanted to be free from the Shikon no Tama and her miko duties. I was lonely and so was she. We were lonely together. She always wanted me to be human and that meant that she didn't love me for who I really was. But you Kagome… you…" Inuyasha looked deep into her eyes.

Kagome couldn't believe that Inuyasha was saying all of this. Kagome grasped on his haori with her hands and looked deep into his beautiful golden orbs, "Inuyasha I have always told you that I like you as a hanyou. I would never wish to change that. I never want that to change. That's what makes you who you are Inuyasha."

Inuyasha closed his eyes and smiled. I knew it! She likes me for who I am and does not wish to change me. But only likes… I love her so much and she only likes me… Suddenly Inuyasha felt something warm and soft on his lips. He opened his eyes and looked into the closed eyed face of Kagome. She was kissing him very softly but full of passion and… love?!

Inuyasha closed his eyes again and returned to the kiss. He heard Kagome moan softly as he pulled her into his chest again and deepened the kiss. Kagome pulled away and giggled as Inuyasha growled his disapproval.

"Inuyasha what do think of me?"

"huh?" Inuyasha was thrown off from that great kiss and then Kagome suddenly asking him a question. Kagome looked saddened and pulled away from Inuyasha. Inuyasha's mind was finally catching up with him as he realized what Kagome had asked. Kagome was looking down at the ground and had released his haori.

"Kagome what did you just say?" Inuyasha knew full well what she said but he wasn't sure what she meant.

"It's nothing Inuyasha. I was just hoping that you shared the same feelings that I had for you. But I know that Kikyo died not that long ago and you having feelings for me this soon were a little much…"

Inuyasha bent down and pulled her into a very passionate kiss. Kagome was completely thrown off. Kagome stared at Inuyasha's face as she slowly got over the shock and wrapped her arms around his back and returned the kiss. Inuyasha growled softly in his throat as he licked and nipped at her bottom lip, impatient for entrance. Kagome moaned out and Inuyasha slipped his tongue into her mouth. Inuyasha tasted every crevice of her mouth. Soon Kagome and his tongue were rubbing together fighting for dominance.

Inuyasha pulled away from the kiss and looked at Kagome's flushed face. Her eyes were only half open and she was panting. Inuyasha smirked to himself.

"Kagome," Her eyes opened up a little wider, "I… I love you."

Kagome's eyes opened wide with shock. Did he just say what I thought he said?!?!?! Inuyasha continued to look at Kagome waiting for her answer. He was growing inpatient and worry was starting to spread across his face. "Kagome…." Inuyasha slowly let go of Kagome and turned around.

Kagome shook her head and looked at his back. She slowly reached up and touched her lips. She could still taste Inuyasha when she licked her lips. He tasted like nothing that she had ever tasted before.

"Kagome we should get going back. Everyone will be waking up soon and then we will be leaving." Inuyasha made to start walking forward when suddenly Kagome wrapped her arms around Inuyasha from behind and held onto him very tightly. She nuzzled her face into Inuyasha's long silver hair and breathed in his scent.

"I love you too Inuyasha! I have always loved you! I will always love you!"

Inuyasha closed his eyes and let her words wash over him. She loves me… she loves me.. she loves me! Inuyasha spun around and held her closely to him. Kagome smiled and nuzzled herself into Inuyasha. She had never been happier then she was at that moment. Inuyasha ran his clawed hand slowly and gently through her raven black hair.

"My Kagome…"

Sesshomaru stood beside a tree watching the sunrise. Rin and Jaken were still asleep and if they didn't wake soon he was going to wake them. He, Sesshomaru, had tried to sleep but the only thing that had happened was that he thought up more questions that he wished to be answered.

Sesshomaru could hear Rin slowly waking up. He turned around and looked as the little human girl slowly sat up, yawned and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. She looked up at Sesshomaru and smiled brightly. "Sesshomaru-sama!! Good Morning!"

"Rin awaken Jaken. We are departing now."

"Hai Sesshomaru-sama!" Rin jumped up and jumped on Jaken and screamed his name to wake him up. Jaken screamed and starting cursing at Rin not to scare him awake and that she was just a human girl and should now her place. Suddenly Jaken stopped and looked over his shoulder. Sesshomaru was glaring at Jaken.

"S…S… Sesshomaru-sama?!"

"Jaken we are departing now. Get Aun ready." With that said Sesshomaru turned and starting walking northeast. Rin was singing to herself happily as she followed after him. Jaken, muttering about the human girl not having to do any work, got up and walked over to Aun and starting to pack up.

A/N: Sorry again everyone about not updating sooner. My writer's block has kinda gone away. Chapter nine shouldn't take me to long. I have ideas for that chapter. This one probably took me longer because this is the chapter that I wanted Inuyasha and Kagome to confess that love for each in. It took me a long time to write that section and I will probably end up revising it.

A/N: While I was having major writer's block I came across a really great story. Now I am not a huge fan of Kag/Sess fics but I really really enjoyed this one. It is called Bloodlust by Lira. I think that everyone should check it out. It is really well written and it has a really good plot.
