A/N: Sorry about not updating sooner. This writer's block is driving me crazy and I think I might have gotten rid of it. With that said please enjoy this chapter and please don't forget to review.

Chapter Nine

The Lord of the Western Lands and the Sacred Miko

Sesshomaru was so deep in thought that he didn't even realize that Rin was trying to get his attention. It wasn't until she screamed his name at the top of her lungs that he stopped and looked at the human girl walking right behind him. Rin wasn't expecting him to stop and walked into his leg and fell over.

"Rin," replied Sesshomaru in his normally emotionless voice.

"Sesshomaru-sama Rin is hungry," Rin slowly stood up and looked up at her lord. It never seemed to surprise the Lord of the Western Lands that this little human didn't fear him. She stood there telling him that she was hungry and was grinning from ear to ear and rubbing her hand over her tummy.

"Rin take Jaken with you and go and find something to eat. Do not go too far," with that said Sesshomaru turned away from the human girl and stared off as he went back to his thoughts.

The village is about another two days from here. I wonder if the priest is still alive. Humans do not live very long. Would he have followed Hitomi's wishes and passed the information onto his son? I will not loose this chance now that I am so close to getting Sorano back again.

Sesshomaru sighed inwardly as he heard Jaken yelling at Rin to stop running around and find something to eat. Sesshomaru shock his head and looked in the direction that they were traveling once again. Soon my Sorano… soon.

The sun had fully risen and Kagome nuzzled herself further into Inuyasha to try and block the sun's rays that were peeking through the trees and flashing her in the eyes. Kagome smiled as she heard Inuyasha's heart beat. It was strong and steady. He smelt of the forest, fresh, lush, and full of life. She would never get tired of smelling that scent. It calmed her to the core.

Inuyasha pulled Kagome closer as he felt her nuzzle still further into him. He was the happiest he had been in many many years. Kikyo didn't even make him feel this way. Kagome was so full of life and spirit that he couldn't seem to get enough of her. Just having her around made him feel complete and whole for the first time in his life. He would never let anything happen to her. She was his and his alone.

Suddenly Inuyasha felt a strange warmth coming from Kagome. He hadn't felt anything like it before. It was as if something inside of her was calling out to him. Inuyasha closed his eyes and pulled Kagome, if it was possible, closer into himself. Her scent was overpowering. Inuyasha wanted Kagome and he wanted her now. Inuyasha breathed deeply and felt as if Kagome was becoming one with him. He could hear her heart beating faster and he could hear her breath coming in quick pants.

Kagome gripped onto Inuyasha's haori tightly. Something was happening. She didn't know what was going on. It felt as if something inside of her was trying to get at Inuyasha. She could feel a strange power inside as if Inuyasha was calling out to her very soul. She suddenly felt Inuyasha grab onto her tighter. She was having difficulties breathing. His grip on her was so intense. Kagome felt as if her very being was being absorbed into Inuyasha. She felt weak and didn't know how to make Inuyasha stop. It was starting to hurt and her breaths were coming in short pants and stung in her lungs.

"Inu… Yasha…" Kagome breathed out. Inuyasha growled softly and nuzzled his cheek into her hair. "Inuyasha… please… ple..ase… stop!"

Inuyasha faintly heard something. It sounded like Kagome but something inside of him didn't want to let go of her. It was as if he was afraid that if he let go that he would never again have her. He would never let anyone have her. She was his and his alone. Inuyasha could feel something pulling on his haori but his youkai blood wouldn't let him stop.

Kagome's vision was becoming blurry and she was having troubles breathing. Inuyasha wasn't letting go of her and she was starting to become frightened. "Please… Inuyasha… let.. go…" Kagome felt herself become weak as her grip on his haori was released. Suddenly everything went black and she felt herself falling.

Inuyasha could feel his youkai blood wanting to have her. No I can't do this! Not like this! I want it to be special with my Kagome! Inuyasha smelt Kagome's fear and slightly heard her murmur something to him as she let go of his haori and she become limp. Inuyasha wasn't expecting Kagome it go limp on him and he barely caught her in his arms as she fainted.

Inuyasha laid her down and touched her face. She was cold… very cold. "Kagome," Inuyasha gently ran his hand over her cheek, "Kagome wake up! Kagome!! KAGOME!!!"

Inuyasha swore under his breath as he picked her up and ran to the hut. Someone would have to know what the hell just happened. Inuyasha leapt up into the trees and jumped from branch to branch, making sure to keep a secure grip on Kagome. Inuyasha leapt from the trees and landed a few feet from Kaeda's hut. Miroku and Shippo were standing outside the hut talking.

"Inuyasha! Have you seen…" Miroku started but smiled his lecherous smile as he spotted Inuyasha carrying Kagome bridal style. "never mind I see you have found Kagome-sama."

"Move out of the way monk!" Inuyasha yelled as he came closer to the hut.

"I'm afraid you can't enter yet. Sango is getting changed and if you walk in on her she would most definitely attack you," replied Miroku as he stood in front of the doorway lending to the hut. Miroku looked at Kagome and gasped. "Inuyasha what has happened to Kagome-sama?!"

"That's why I said move it! Kaeda-baba needs to help her! I don't know what is wrong with her," As if on cue the bamboo curtain that was the door moved and Sango and Kaeda appeared at the door. Sango smiled when she saw Inuyasha and then looked at the unconscious form of Kagome and gasped.

"Sango child what is wrong," asked Kaeda as she walked around Sango and looked at what made her gasp.

"Inuyasha bring her inside at once." Without another word Kaeda turned around and walked back inside the hut and Inuyasha, almost knocking Sango over, followed after her. Once inside the hut Kaeda motioned from Inuyasha to put Kagome down on the futon that was lying in the middle of the room.

Very gently Inuyasha placed Kagome down and brushed a few stray hairs out of her face. "Inuyasha you need to tell what happened to Kagome."

Inuyasha looked one last time at Kagome and then looked up at Kaeda. "We were in the forest talking and then…" Inuyasha looked around and saw that Miroku, Sango and Shippo were all in the hut. He didn't want to explain in front of them that Kagome and himself had confessed their love for each other and that Inuyasha had a pretty good idea that he did this to Kagome.

Kaeda looked at Inuyasha and then saw that he was looking around at the others in the room. Kaeda knew that Inuyasha was not a very open person and that whatever happened in the forest he had planned on keeping it from the others. "Miroku Houshi-dono, Sango, Shippo would you three please wait outside?"

Sango looked like she had seen a ghost. She was not moving until she knew what was wrong with her friend. Miroku looked at Kaeda and then at Inuyasha. He understood and stood up. He gently grabbed onto Sango's arm and pulled her up. She glared daggers at Miroku and looked like she was about to murder.

"Houshi-sama let me go. I am not leaving until I know what is wrong with Kagome-chan."

"Sango I have a pretty good idea what has happened to Kagome-sama. I will inform you outside. Please Sango, Inuyasha and Kaeda-sama need to talk alone."

Sango looked from Inuyasha to Miroku and finally let Miroku lead her out of the hut. Shippo slowly stood up and walked out followed by Kirara. When the curtain closed Kaeda looked at Inuyasha and Inuyasha looked back at Kagome.

"Well Inuyasha you were saying?"

"Well Kagome and I… we…"

"Confessed your love to each other?"

Inuyasha shot his head up so quickly to look at Kaeda that he cricked his neck. "Kaeda-baba how did you know?!" asked Inuyasha as he massaged the crick in his neck.

"I have known for awhile that the two of you have had feelings for each other. I see it in your eyes whenever you look at Kagome. And I see it in her eyes whenever she looks at you. The only ones who did not know were you and Kagome. Now Inuyasha how did this happen to Kagome?"

"Well we were… hugging… and I felt something coming off of Kagome. I don't know what it was. It felt so good and it felt like my youkai blood wanted her. I could feel it becoming one with me. But then I snapped out of it and then Kagome collapsed. Now she is like this."

Kaeda sat in silence for a while and looked at Kagome. She was still pale but her breathing was back to normal and so was her heart rate. It now looked like she was resting after a long battle. "Inuyasha did Kagome try and stop you?"

"I don't know. I couldn't hear very well anymore. I heard her mumble something but I couldn't stop myself. It wasn't until I felt Kagome let go of my haori that I finally stopped and then she passed out. Why?"

"Well by the sounds of it you were absorbing her miko powers. Kagome's powers have gotten a lot stronger in a very short period of time. And at times of heightened emotional or physical moments her power spikes. Your youki wished to have that power and thus it tried taking it from Kagome. Thankfully because of your human blood you did not. For if you did Inuyasha you would have killed her."

"I… I would have killed her…" Inuyasha let the words wash over him. He could have killed the one person that he cherished more then anything in this world. All because his youkai blood wished for her power.

"Inuyasha do not feel guilty for what you have done. Kagome will be fine and for about a day your power will increase to twice there normal power. You did what any youkai would have done in that position. Your youkai blood and your youki are very strong because you feel Kagome to be your mate. Thus your youkai blood wanted to claim her and have her power."

"Kaeda-baba will this happen again? I mean will I end up hurting Kagome again?" Inuyasha reached down and gently ran a finger across her cheek.

"Not if you're careful. Kagome will need to train with even more urgency than before because now other youkai will be after her to claim her and her power. When she is wearing her armor Inuyasha her power will be in check and you will not have to worry but just be a little more careful around her when she in not wearing her armor."

"So Kaeda-baba once Kagome is fully trained as a miko my youki will not try and harm her?"

Kaeda shook her head, "No Inuyasha but Kagome will be able to stop it from happening. She will only give you strength and power when she wants to and not by accident like it happened this morning."

Kagome started to stir and Inuyasha and Kaeda both stopped talking and looked at Kagome. She was mumbling something under her breath and was starting to thrash around. Inuyasha's ears started to twitch and he could smell something that wasn't right.

"It can't be…" Inuyasha jumped up and out of the hut.

Sesshomaru, Rin, Jaken and Aun were making good time. Sesshomaru was once again thinking to himself and was paying very little attention to the others that were traveling with him. He had been dreaming of this day for sixty years and now it seemed that it was finally coming true. But the big question that was on his mind was if Sorano would even recognize him anymore. He was not the same youkai that he was sixty years ago.

Sesshomaru sighed inwardly and continued walking. Even Rin's laughter couldn't bring him out of his thoughts. At one time in this life he had traveled with many humans most of whom were his allies and now the only human that he tolerated was Rin and even then he didn't know why. Would Sorano still love him even though he had changed this much? Would she still wish to be with him after all that has happened since she was sealed away?

"SESSHOMARU-SAMA!"

Sesshomaru stopped dead in his tracks and turned around. Rin stopped, blushed and started to play with the front folds of her kimono as she grinned up at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow at her and she grinned even wider.

"Sesshomaru-sama Rin is hungry. Can Rin go and look for something to eat?"

No matter how much Sesshomaru wanted to tell her no and that they had to make ground before sunset he just couldn't say no to her. Sesshomaru nodded slightly to the little human girl and she ran off into the forest laughing. Sesshomaru watched as she disappeared from his sight and he walked over to a tree and leaned against it as he closed his eyes. Willing himself a moment's peace from his thoughts.

Sesshomaru didn't know how long he had been leaning against the tree when suddenly he opened his eyes and looked around. Jaken was leaning against Aun with his eyes closed and Aun was asleep. Sesshomaru sniffed the air and couldn't smell Rin. And by the way the sun was Rin had been gone a long time. Sesshomaru walked over to Jaken and kicked him awake.

Jaken squealed and glared at the one that had awakened him so rudely. Finally realizing who it was he bowed so low that his head was touching the ground and apologized repeatedly.

"Shut up Jaken and tell me where Rin is."

"Sesshomaru-sama Jaken is not sure where Rin is. This Jaken fell asleep. Gomen," he bowed again and again with every time he said that he was sorry.

"Enough! Stay here with Aun." With that said Sesshomaru turned and walked into the forest. Rin's scent was old but the further into the forest he got the fresher the scent became. He did not smell blood or fear from her scent so he was not worried about the girl. As Sesshomaru got further into the forest the trees started to thin and he could hear a stream up ahead.

The clearing was lit up with a strange cherry blossom pink light. He could hear Rin talking and laughing and another voice that sounded very familiar to him. Sesshomaru entered the clearing and the sight made him loss him breathe.

Rin was kneeling in front of a very beautiful female youkai. She was sitting on a large rock that was in the clearing. She was wearing a very elegant kimono and her long hair flowed behind her like water from a waterfall. Sesshomaru didn't know what colour her hair was or the colour of her kimono because all was a glow with the soft pink light. But even with the light coming off of her he knew what colour her hair was and the colour of her kimono. Sesshomaru went farther into the clearing.

"Then Rin asked Sesshomaru-sama if she could go and look for something to eat and Sesshomaru-sama said that Rin could and then Rin found you, pretty lady." Rin finished her tale and giggled as the youkai smiled brightly at the little human girl.

"Please Rin I have asked you to call me…"

"Sorano…"

The youkai looked up at Sesshomaru and smiled more brightly then the sun. Sesshomaru started to walk towards the rock when Sorano lifted a hand and he stopped.

"Sesshomaru you can not come any closer. I am merely an essence of myself. I needed to find you however this young girl found me and spoke of you and I seemed to have lost track of the time. And time is something that I do not have much of."

"Sorano why is it that you are here? I did not know that you could leave your seal? Why have you not come sooner to me?"

Sorano smiled at Sesshomaru however a sadness was within her smile. "I was not able to leave my seal until Kagome awoken the memory from the Plain of Ankara. However I do not have much energy left to stay here. I need you to go to Kagome Sesshomaru."

Sesshomaru gave Sorano a quizzical look that shocked Rin. Rin had never seen Sesshomaru saw emotion on his face. "Why is it that I need to go to this human?"

"She has awakened as the Sacred Miko Sesshomaru. Things have now been set in motion that can not be undone. You must go to the Sacred Miko and form an alliance that was once held between you and Hitomi. You must travel with her to the village and you must take her with you to the priest to find Yuki-chan. This must be done as quickly as possible. I do not have much strength left and even now the evil hanyou is breaking down the seal on Ryuzaburo. I can not hold it much longer."

"Evil hanyou?" then it dawned on Sesshomaru, "Naraku…"

"Yes that is his name. But that can all be explained to you by Kagome. She has awakened but her powers are still raw. Youkai will be coming to claim her power and if she is claimed before I am unsealed then all is lost. Please Sesshomaru you must go to her. She is in a village that is by the Inuyasha Forest." Sorano gracefully raised her hand and pointed down the stream. "If you follow this stream you will reach her in only an hour. You must hurry."

Sesshomaru followed her hand and looked in the direction that she was pointed. "I have always trusted you Sorano and I will do as you ask." Sesshomaru's eyes widened as Sorano started to become blurry and she was vanishing in wisps of pink fog. "Sorano?!"

"My time as run out Sesshomaru. You must hurry! Please!" She smiled one last time as she vanished even more.

"Pretty lady! Wait don't go Rin wants to talk more with you! Rin wants to play with you!" Sorano looked at Rin and smiled. She closed her eyes and vanished from the rock in the clearing.

"Rin go back to Jaken and use Aun to go to the Inuyasha forest. Stay in the forest until I come and get you. Do you understand?"

Rin stood up and nodded as she ran back towards where Jaken and Aun were. Sesshomaru walked over to the rock and placed a hand on its smooth surface. It was still warm from Sorano's essence. Sesshomaru took a steadying breath. He hadn't expected to see Sorano in the clearing and it made his knees weak with want and need. Sesshomaru looked down the stream, and with his full youkai speed, ran towards the village that the Sacred Miko was at.

Sesshomaru was about half way there when he felt someone calling out to him. He could feel their power and it was getting stronger. "So Sacred Miko you feel my presence do you? Well I am coming for you!"

Inuyasha sniffed around trying to figure out where his brother's scent was coming from. He finally realized that it was coming from the stream and moving at an incredible speed. Inuyasha turned to face the stream and a streak of white blurred past him and came to stop a few feet from Kaeda's hut. Inuyasha growled as he unsheathed Tetsusaiga.

"Sesshomaru!" growled Inuyasha and Sesshomaru turned slightly and glared at Inuyasha.

"I am not here for you Inuyasha. Where is the Sacred Miko? I have come for her."

"There is no fucking way I am letting you near Kagome!"

Sesshomaru turned fully around and glared at him. "I do not have time for this Inuyasha. Either you hand her over or I will kill you and then take her. Either way I am leaving here with her."

"I'd love to see you try Sesshomaru!" yelled Inuyasha as he leapt into the air and swung Tetsusaiga at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru easily dodged it and draw out Toukijin. Inuyasha whipped around and the sound of metal on metal rang throughout the whole village. Inuyasha was using all of his strength to push Sesshomaru back and to his surprise it was actually working. Sesshomaru had dug his feet into the ground to try and steady himself but still Inuyasha pushed him back.

"My my Inuyasha you have gotten stronger. I must say that the power of the Sacred Miko has done you some good. However it will still not be enough to beat this Sesshomaru." Sesshomaru ran towards Inuyasha as Inuyasha ran towards Sesshomaru. Both had their swords drawn back ready to strike each other.

Suddenly a blazing fuchsia arrow flew between the two of them and they stopped dead in their tracks and turned to face the source of the arrow. Inuyasha's jaw dropped as he saw Kagome standing with her bow before herself with another arrow notched to it. It was pointed straight a Sesshomaru and Kagome was glaring at him.

"Sesshomaru I will not allow anyone to harm Inuyasha. State your business here and leave."

Sesshomaru lowered his sword and turned to face Kagome. Inuyasha was glancing between Sesshomaru and Kagome. Inuyasha was barely aware that some of the villagers had come to see what was going on and that Sango, Miroku, and Shippo were now standing behind him.

"My business is with you Sacred Miko and only you. I have come to take you away. You are to come with me to unseal Yuki-chan and then to unseal Sorano."

Kagome raised an eyebrow. "That is what we are already planning on doing Sesshomaru. Does this mean that you are going to join us?" Kagome lowered her bow and arrow slightly.

"I will not be joining forces with all of you. I am here for you and just you. I was informed that I needed to help you. I was not told to have my hanyou brother and the others come along."

Kagome sighed as she raised her arrow and bow again. "I will not go with Sesshomaru so you can either join with us or go off on your own. If you want me you have to take all of us."

Sesshomaru made to step forward but Kagome drew back the arrow even more. "I wouldn't try taking me by force Sesshomaru. I have become quiet powerful and if you tried to touch me I would end up purifying you. Is that what you want?"

"I was informed to take you and take you I shall." Sesshomaru raised Toukijin before himself. "Prepare yourself Sacred Miko."

Kagome shook her head and sighed. "Hai and you prepare yourself Lord of the Western Lands."

A/N: I know not a very long chapter. It is about two pages shorted then I usually write. And I know it is a cliffie but the next scene is really long and I didn't want to go on for another five or six pages. That would make one hell of a long chapter.

A/N: Again I am sorry that the chapter took me so long. I am already working on chapter ten. Oh yeah I will have some fan art posted in the next couple of days. They will be of Sorano and Ryuzaburo. I did them to show everyone what they look like if case I didn't give a very good description of them. Don't forget to review please!! Reviews make me write more! Ja! ^_^
