Chapter Five

Miroku instructed Kagome to sit cross legged across from him. They both sat and Miroku told her to concentrate on her power. She closed her eyes and concentrated slightly confused. Then he told her that she must relax and try to call her power to her. She did so and she felt her hand burning. When she opened her eyes, she saw her hand glowing a soft blue color. She gasped.

"You're a very fast learner. Now stand. Keep your power in your hand." Miroku informed and Kagome stood up. Miroku did too. "Now, form the energy into a ball." Kagome did and she waited for her next step. "See that target over there? Throw the ball at it." Kagome did, missing only the target only by a few centimeters. When the ball hit the wall, it made a small explosion. Dust formed and after it was gone, there was a huge black stain on the wall.

"Wow..." Kagome said.

"That's very good. You did that on your first try. Once you are able to tap into your power fully and easily, things like that," He pointed to the damaged wall. "Will be completely destroyed. Even that small blast, could purify a low level youkai." Miroku continued teaching her about her spiritual powrs until lunch. After the three had eaten, Sango began to train her.

"Hmm.. Ususally mikos use bows. So lets try this." Sango tossed Kagome some arrows, then a bow. Kagome smiled. She knew how to use a bow. All the women from her island back home had to learn how to use it wo they could have some protection. She shot a few arrows at the target, all of them hitting, two hitting the bulls eye.

"Sorry to interupt, but lets try merging your powers with your arrows Kagome. Its the same way only concentrate your energy to the bow." Miroku said.

"Alright." Kagome concentrated and soon the arrow was glowing a bright blue. She let the arrow fly and it hit the bulls eye of the target, completely destroying the target and leaving an even bigger black stain on the wall then when she used her hand.

"Good!" Both Sango and Miroku cheered. "Now lets see how you fight close range." Sango walked over to the wall and looked over all the weapons. Finally she grabbed a staff like weapon, only it had a blade on the end. "This is called a naginata." She handed it to Kagome and they began to fight. Kagome mainly held the naginata up to defend her self. Really soon Sango knocked Kagome down.

"You okay? Good. Come on. You've got to fight back. Like this." Sango began demonstrating and Kagome nodded. By evening Kagome had gotten the hang of fighting with the naginata and had even knocked Sango down.

"Good job Kagome. I'd say we call it a day." Sango said. The three left the dojo and headed outside. The first thing Kagome saw was Kikyo walking towards her. Kagome told her new friends/teachers to go on ahead so she could talk with her sister. Kikyo stood in front of her smiling brightly.

"Why are you so happy, sister?" Kagome asked curiosly. Kikyo told her to follow her and led her back to the gardens where Kagome, Rin, and Kikyo were at the previous day. "What's going on Kikyo?" Kagome asked more urgently this time. Kikyo smiled and pulled her left sleeve down so Kagome could see her shoulder. There was a bite mark there starting to scar over.

"Inuyasha.... he asked me to be his mate. And I agreed." Kikyo explained.

"What!? You just met him yesterday evening!" Kagome yelled.

"I know. But...I love him." Kikyo said dreamily.

Kagome smiled. "If this is going to make you lighten up, then I'm very happy for you! I knew there was something between you two, but wow...." Kagome commented and hugged Kikyo tightly. She returned the hug.

"I'm going in. The sun is going to set soon." Kikyo informed looking at the starting to sink sun. "Coming?"

"No. I think I'll watch the sunset first."

"Alright. Inuyasha told me that dinner will be in an hour." Kikyo walked off still happy. Kagome smiled. *It's about time Kikyo is happy.* Kagome sighed. She sat down and leaned her head against the fountain. The sun sunk very slow.

There was a gust of wind and Kagome stood up, rubbing her arms through her sleeves. Another gust of wind blew only this time it was more like a small tornado. It danced in front of Kagome and soon it was gone, leaving a man behind. He had long black hair pulled into a high pony tail, wore a brown head band, ice blue eyes, brown and black armor, and a brown tail wrapped around his waist. He was a pretty handsome man.

"Why would Lord Sesshomaru leave a woman as pretty as you, alone, when it is going to be dark soon?" The man spoke, looking Kagome up and down. She felt very nervous around him.

"Um...I was just watching the sunset...." Kagome stumbled. *Jeez...as soon as I'm away from home, more and more men keep showing up!* She looked at the sun, which was now almost completely gone. "And now, I think I'll go in..."

"I can't let you go by yourself, so I'll go with you." The man said. "I'm Koga. What's your name?" He asked, looking down at Kagome as they walked towards the castle.

"Kagome..." She replied.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful woman." He commented. Kagome blushed slightly.

Sesshomaru waited in the dining hall. Kikyo had just informed him that Kagome was watching the sunset. He was angered that she would be left alone. After Kikyo arrived at the table, Inuyasha entered the room next, followed by Sango and Miroku. There were two people missing. Kagome and Koga. He had invited the Lord of the Eastern Lands to dinner to offer an alliance.

Finally he could smell Kagome's sweet scent. But he could also smell wolf. He narrowed his eyes as the two walked in together. He could sense Kagome's nervousness at having to walk next to Koga. He kept his smile to himself. *Apparently she doesn't like him. That's good.* Ten he mentally shook himself. *Why is it good? Its not like I care if the girl loves that wolf!* He sighed slightly. *Since when did I start calling her girl? Her name is Kagome. And for some reason..I do care.* He watched as Kagome took a seat inbetween Rin and Kikyo. Koga sat directly across from her.

The dinner went well. Koga had agreed to the alliance. They had to or else both east and west would be destroyed against the north and south, who had formed an alliance against both of them. Now, if they decided to attack, both of them would be prepared. Sesshomaru's army could most likely do well on their own, but he didn't want to take any chances, so he had to offer the alliance.

Kagome had taken Rin to her room to read her a story before she fell asleep, Kikyo and Inuyasha disappeared along with Sango and Miroku. It was just him and Koga. Koga cleared his throat. "Since when do you allow so many humans into your castle? I thought you hated them."

"I do hate most. But there are few that I can stand." Sesshomaru replied emotionlessly.

"That girl, Kagome, she sure is beautiful. If you don't mind, I think I'll take her for a mate...." He said. Sesshomaru stiffened. There was no way he would allow the wolf to take his Kagome! *MY Kagome?* He asked himself. *I'm falling for her.* Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at Koga.

"She is too young." He made up. "She's only a child still."

"That may be. But she's a child in a woman's body." Koga said. Unfortunatley for Sesshomaru, he agreed. Kagome was a child in a woman's body, like Koga had said. Sesshomaru's eye twitched slightly. Koga noticed that. "Oh I see. You want her for yourself, so you are making excuses. No matter. I can find some one else." Koga said and left the room. He would stay the night and then leave in the morning.

*I really do want her for myself....* Sesshomaru thought as he walked from the room.
