Chapter Four
Sesshomaru wasn't about to change his plans, and would be at Fisherman's Wharf in about five minutes. Plenty of time for him to grasp all that happened in the brief ten minutes they were together. He'd been waiting for a long time on finding his soul mate, he found him, and he certainly wasn't going to let him get away. He had made that mistake six months ago, when he felt like he abandoned Inuyasha.
However, Sesshomaru couldn't help but ponder at the ensnaring question: Was he handling this better than his younger brother was? He didn't know. He did know that know matter what relation they were, his love was strong and real. The kiss felt right and it felt right being with Inuyasha.
In some ways, he was pleased that they didn't grow up together and frowned at the thought. He wouldn't have had this relationship he has now with Inuyasha. He wouldn't have found his true love. He also considered in a strange way or feeling that this was destined to happen. It was fate that they'd met at the club, it was fate when their eyes met, and it certainly was fate when a drunk became hostile with him, only bringing them closer.
He knew what had to be done, in order to help Inuyasha. Miroku had stated that they both needed to accept the fact and then the door would be open for newer things in their lives. Sesshomaru couldn't have agreed more with the doctor. The answer was simple. It was too bad that Inuyasha was having such a hard time acknowledging it. He sighed. If he would've had known that then, maybe he wouldn't have waited so long to find his brother.
However, Inuyasha is dealing with a lot more than he would've expected. Sesshomaru smiled and would have to be patient with Inuyasha. He was positive that he would be able to open up Inuyasha's heart again, and melt the walls that protected him so fiercely. That was of course, as long as Inuyasha behaved himself, and wouldn't let his fierce temper run amuck.
Sesshomaru heard Inuyasha sighing as they pulled into the parking lot. “You didn't actually think that you were going to go home…did you?” he asked, parking his car.
“Feh,” Inuyasha snorted, “Besides, you're buying.”
Sesshomaru chuckled deeply. “You know I've been thinking about what you said earlier.”
“Yea, and?” Inuyasha inquired curiously.
`How can you still look at me, like the love of your life, and not as your brother?'
Sesshomaru sighed, as Inuyasha's haunting words replayed in his head. “With my session at the doctor's office, Miroku stated something that has helped me cope, as far as today goes. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. And do you want to know what it was that he said to me?”
Inuyasha shook his head, side to side, “no? What did he say to you?”
“He told me to accept. Accept the fact that we're related, and to accept myself for the choices I make.” Sesshomaru said causally, as he turned off the car, pulled out the keys, and set them down in his lap. “It was so easy to do.”
Inuyasha snorted with distain. “Well I'm glad that it worked for you. I'm still trying to accept this, but I'm afraid.” Inuyasha closed his eyes, “but I can't deal with all these mixed signals. I'm so mixed up right now…I don't which way is up or down. And every time I try to logically explain it to myself; I end up with an enormous headache.”
“I'm trying Sesshomaru, I really am. I also couldn't believe you kissed me.”
Sesshomaru smiled, but it faded quickly as he stared at the crowd of people passing by. “I can't believe I did that either. But tell me this? Did you enjoy it…did it feel wrong?” Sesshomaru asked. “Because if it felt right, then follow that. Now come on, I'm starved, as I'm sure you're as well.”
Inuyasha smiled as he began to open the door. “It felt right,” he paused. “Thank you Sesshomaru, what you said made sense, and I'll ponder on it.”
“Good, now what are you hungry for?” Sesshomaru asked raising a brow.
“Seafood, why else would I pick this place.”
“Well there are many seafood restaurants to choose from? There is Italian, The Crab Shack…?”
Inuyasha stepped out of the vehicle and closed the door, Sesshomaru following suite. “The Crab Shack sounds good.” Inuyasha answered with a smile. He knew that Sesshomaru had a weakness for crab. They walked past the pier stopping as Sea Lions, sunned themselves on the wooden docks. This was a busy area in San Francisco and tourism was everywhere, despite all the people Inuyasha loved coming here for the food and atmosphere.
Lunch was pleasant as the two sat down and shared memories, new and old. They had joked, laughed, and let the peaceful surroundings sooth their spirits. Sesshomaru was pleased that they were actually having a good conversation, and that Inuyasha had lightened up immensely. He didn't bring up his family, although he was curious about Inuyasha's family but he wouldn't pry. The only one he'd met was his Aunt, and cringed just recalling her. He loved how the day turned out, but unfortunately, like all good things, it had to end.

Inuyasha lay in his bed, recalling the day's events. He had to admit that he was sad that Sesshomaru had to leave. However, he thought that maybe it was for the best. Today opened up many issues—emotional ones at best. Once on his bed he turned, lying on his side. He thought about the past, and the first time Sesshomaru admitted his love for him. Inuyasha closed his eyes and smiled.
It was a beautiful summer day when he got the phone call. He smiled and hung up the phone, Sesshomaru would be picking him up in a half an hour. With quick haste, he showered and then dressed nicely. Going out with Sesshomaru was always a surprise and he never expected on where they would dine, or just enjoy the fine arts the city had to offer.
A knock on the door distracted his musings as he glanced one last time in his mirror fixing his long white hair. He smiled, as he headed towards the door, and began to feel nervous knots began to stir in his abdominal region. Opening the door, he gasped when he saw Sesshomaru dressed in a very expensive—yet elegant—business suit.
“Did you just get off of work?”
Sesshomaru smiled, “No, I have reservations at the `War Memorial Opera House.'”
“What? I'm not dressed to go somewhere that fancy.”
“Nonsense, you look fine.”
“I don't think so,” Inuyasha smirked, as he ran into his bedroom and quickly changed his shirt, replacing it with a maroon colored oxford and a black tie with red stripes. He also pulled out his black jacket. He double checked himself in the mirror and was pleased.
Sesshomaru stood their patiently as he gasped when Inuyasha stepped out of his room.
“There, I feel much better. I hope I didn't keep you waiting.”
Sesshomaru smirked, “it was well worth the wait.”
Inuyasha blushed, “So what are we seeing tonight?” he asked, grabbing his house keys. Locking the door, he followed Sesshomaru to his limo. “Where is you're car?”
“Inuyasha for you, I went all out.” Sesshomaru chuckled, “We're going to see Dez Rosenkavalier, by Richard Strauss.”
Inuyasha raised his eyebrow in confusion, “who?” he inquired. He'd never heard of this opera before. Of course, he wasn't as influenced in the arts, as Sesshomaru was.
Sesshomaru laughed, while the chauffer opened the door and they sat comfortably in the leather seats. “It's a German Opera.” He said, while grabbing two flukes and opening the Champaign. “There are strawberries in the cooler over there, will you please grab them.”
Inuyasha nodded. He was taken back buy the luxuries of the evening. In addition, being around Sesshomaru was making him feel like a prince. The Champaign, strawberries, and opera, were romantic by themselves, and wondered if Sesshomaru had a secret agenda when this was over. However, no matter what Sesshomaru had planned, he wouldn't mind. He was in love with the elder demon, and could only hope the night would be perfect.
Sitting back down with the strawberries in hand, Sesshomaru handed him a fluke filled with the yellowish bubbly liquid. “Here, drink some of this,” Sesshomaru said invitingly, as he grabbed the green stem, from the ripened sweet fruit. After watching Inuyasha take a sip, he held the strawberry close to his mouth. “Now take a bite.”
Inuyasha blushed slightly, as his lips slowly licked the tip of the strawberry. His eyes transfixed onto Sesshomaru's, as he languidly bit into the tip of the ripened fruit.
Sesshomaru shifted in his seat, at the sensual display of affection. He grabbed his fluke, and then grabbed Inuyashas' placing them somewhere where they wouldn't get in the way. With the strawberries still in his hand, he leaned forward, and kissed Inuyasha.
The kiss was tender, slow, and accepted. Sesshomaru could taste the juices of the fruit mixed with Champaign and he didn't want to stop. The kiss became demanding, wanting him to open up his soul and pour every ounce of him into that kiss.
Pulling away, Sesshomaru smiled, “I wanted to confess something to you, but I guess I can't wait till after the show.”
Inuyasha smiled, “Yea, and what is it?”
“Inuyasha…I love you, with everything in my being I give to you…if you'll accept it of course.”
Inuyasha chuckled, and grabbed Sesshomaru giving him a searing kiss. Pulling away, he smiled, “I'd be a fool if I didn't.”
Inuyasha opened his eyes, as he traced his lips, and smiled. That was the last date they went on before the party. He glanced at his clock, it was late, and he needed a good nights rest. Tomorrow he would call Sesshomaru. He was feeling better than he'd felt in days. The cloudiness in his mind was clearing and the thought of Sesshomaru being related was diminishing. Sesshomaru was right it was only a word, but the love that he felt for him was strong and real. He would follow his heart, and finally make the right choice.
