Chapter 14 - Sesshou the Jerk

In the living room, silence reigned. Neither Sesshoumaru nor Riona wanted to be the first to talk. Sesshoumaru because his pride had been injured, Riona because she didn't trust her voice not to crack.

"Ume please let me up."

"Why?"

"So I can try on the garments you wish me to."

"Why are you doing this to me?"

"What am I doing to you that is so bad? Am I not doing as you wish?"

"You may now be doing what I asked, but only partially."

"I swear I will not mention old commitments."

"Good enough. Sesshoumaru, up."

"Thank you. Now explain how these garments work."

Riona took a deep breath and turned around to start explaining. They spent the next half hour rearranging the taiyoukai's wardrobe, finally settling on a navy pin-stripe suit with a lighter blue shirt leaving off the tie.

"This is acceptable."

"I'm glad you approve."

"Ume…"

"Yes."

"It is nothing."

"I guess it's time to let those two out of there," She said as she headed towards the door to the bed room.

"Ume, just a moment."

"Are you actually going to say something this time?"

"I believe that we need to set a few ground rules."

"Why?"

"Because you no longer know me."

"Fine, then how about we start with we will all address each other by their proper names. This includes Inuyasha and Kagome. You can use Ume when it is only the four of us, but when in public I will only respond to Riona or Rio, understand?"

"That is understandable. I also assume that the hanyou and the miko will have to abide by the same."

"Down! What did I say about rule number one? We all have names. Use them."

"Woman…"

"You're just going to stay down there longer."

"Ume, will you please let me up?"

"There was that so hard? Up."

"Humans do not deserve such…"

"Your okaasan would have your head for that."

"Do not dare bring my okaasan into this."

"Why not? It's the truth. She taught both of us. She always said that all beings deserve respect."

"Even Okaasan could be wrong occasionally."

"Are you saying that Lady Yuriko was wrong to treat me as a member of the family?"

"You were lucky. You should have been made a servant."

"You think I don't know that? I was thankful for it everyday. They may not have adopted me but they treated me as parents would treat any daughter. Ok, maybe I got some extra training most girls didn't, but then it was necessary. You played rough."

"Perhaps I knew even then that ningens were good only for sharpening ones claws."

"Down! You really don't want off the floor any time soon, do you? You're acting like a child so you will continue to be treated as one."

"Wom-"

"I have a name. Use it."

Sesshoumaru just growled, not wanting to dignify her with an answer.

"Are we still going with the spoiled little pup routine? It's starting to get old."

"I am not acting like a pup."

"I would say something about a river but it would go over your head."

"Are you calling me stupid?"

"You can take any meaning you wish."

"Wench…"

"That's it. You're on the floor the rest of the night. Inu, Kagome, and I are going out for dinner. Have fun in the dark."
